  1. [elderly voice, full of spirit] THROUGHOUT CREATION, ACROSS ALL POSSIBLE WORLDS, THERE EXISTS POINTS WHERE THE STRANDS OF FATE ARE DRAWN TOGETHER. IMPORTANT MOMENTS IN HISTORY WHERE THE FATES OF ALL UNDER HEAVEN HANG IN THE BALANCE. GREAT HEROES AND TERRIBLE VILLAINS ARE BORN, WITH THE POWER TO CAUSE REALITY TO QUAKE. A MOMENT WHERE EVEN THE OMNISCIENT LOOK ON WITH BAITED BREATH, WAITING FOR ITS RESOLUTION
  2. THIS IS ONE SUCH MOMENT
  3. We join now the story of a powerful hero as he lies bleeding on the ground, betrayed by the ones he called comrades. [/end voice]
  4.
  5. Innumerable bodies surrounded him in that place. Upon the peak of that ruined hill. The remnants of powerful spells still roared in distance, magical flux twisting the surface of the land into strange and terrifying shapes.
  6.
  7. No matter how hard they tried, it would be hard to keep this under wraps.
  8.
  9. The five traitors shuddered in fear as their target rose once more, leaning heavily upon the haft of his ruined spear. Waves upon waves of high rankers had been spent in order to claim that victory, the destruction of his spear and even then it had amounted to nothing, as he swept aside even more waves of attackers with barely an increase in effort.
  10.
  11. As expected of the Strongest Player.
  12.
  13. But even the strongest had limits, even the best could be defeated.
  14. Eventually, his armour ran out of durability, his mana ran dry and he was left only with his physical abilities and what meager buffs he had still running.
  15.
  16. Even so, it had taken them several hours to bring it to this point, risking their lives for the smallest advantage. He was too strong, too strong.
  17. And that was why he had to be destroyed.
  18.
  19. He stood now, shoulders squared upon that hill of slowly digitizing corpses, a charred and battered stick of wood in his hands, no longer worthy to be called a weapon. And still, they hesitated to approach him once more. It was no laughing matter to say that the next strike would be the end of this.
  20.
  21. “Have you had enough yet?”
  22. Suddenly he spoke, a wry grin making its way across his face as he rose the [stick] to point at them.
  23. “Even after all this, I am willing to forgive you, you know”
  24. As one, their faces warped into visages of loathing, even now, he was treating them this way.
  25. They, who were the Strongest Players, directly below him.
  26. Who had lived in his shadow for years.
  27.
  28. They charged, ramshackle and unsteady up the hill, brandishing their weapons. Knowing that they would die, knowing that in the end, they would never overcome the Saint of the Spear.
  29.
  30. “Hrm, very well then, it looks like I’ll have to”
  31. His words cut short as a sound like glass shattering broke through the noise and the battered and bruised spear finally gave up the ghost, artifacts of junk data scattering on the wind.
  32. “Really,” He said in disbelief, “at a time like this?”
  33. Their swords ran him through without hesitation, the remnants of his armour offering no resistance to the peerless knight blades.
  34. “Well, damn. Guess this is-“
  35.
  36. He exploded in a rush of junk data, the sounds of millions of breaking crystals the final thing heard before everything went black.
  37.
  38.
  39. GAME OVER
  40.
  41. You are Ryuto Tsuchiki, and you were just killed in Age of Dungeons.
  42. “Ahh, dammit! I almost had them! If the durability had just held out for three more strikes…”
  43. You sighed loudly, staring at the bright red words on the screen mocking you for your incompetence.
  44.
  45. “Oh well, that’s life”
  46. You quickly rebounded from the loss, years living as a gamer allowing you to ignore such trivial things as saltiness.
  47. With a few clicks you were back on the main game screen, the ‘RESUME GAME’ button was greyed out completely.
  48. That’s right, you were playing on hardcore…
  49.
  50. “Rest in peace Arthur, we had a wonderful three years together.”
  51. With the slightest hint of remorse you clicked the new game button and waited as the game loaded.
  52. It’s a shame that all your hard work climbing the global leaderboards had been undone but it wasn’t like you couldn’t do it again.
  53. Hrm… that might actually be a problem. The members of Titan would probably be looking out for strangely skilled newbies joining the game… you wouldn’t put it past them to player kill you over and over until you stopped playing.
  54. Hiding your skill was out of the question, as you were the type to throw your all into every encounter but…
  55.
  56. “…Maybe I should join a guild after all?” you mutter
  57.
  58. The waves of high ranking players the Titan guild could throw at you had indeed been the deciding factor in that battle, maybe if you had a guild of your own to rely upon….
  59. Nah that just wasn’t your style, and with your luck your own guild would just get mad at you anyway…
  60.
  61. You set those thoughts aside for another time as the loading bar hits 100% and a character maker screen comes up. Before you can click anything though, a window pops up a with a bunch of digital confetti and party horn sounds.
  62. [CONGRATULATIONS. YOUR ACHIEVEMENTS IN YOUR LAST ACCOUNT HAVE GIVEN YOU AN EXTRA 50,000 GOLD FOR YOUR NEW GAME. PLEASE CONTINUE TO HAVE FUN WITH US IN THE AGE OF DUNGEONS WORLD – The Dev team]
  63. Huh, that was nice, that would help you get some extra gear to start with and skip all the content meant for new players. Good thinking dev team!
  64. You close the window, and another quickly rises in its place, detailing your achievements and bonuses you were being afforded for the new game.
  65. Window after window appeared with no end in sight… is this because you’ve been playing one character for three years? If it was going to be like this, you’d die more quickly next time.
  66. You quickly close all the windows, barely glancing at the contents before moving on to the next one when a box unlike the rest catches your eye.
  67.
  68. [CONGRATULATIONS ON STARTING A NEW GAME. AS A REWARD FOR PLAYING SINCE THE BETA, YOU CAN NOW SELECT THE [DUNGEON MASTER] CLASS AT CHARACTER GENERATION]
  69. This… this might be the answer to your problem.
  70. If you began as a dungeon master, it would take longer for Titan to find you again and it was also something you had never done before, so it might be interesting to pass the time.
  71. It was settled. You closed the last few windows and started a new game, as a DUNGEON MASTER.
  72.
  73. PICK STATS
