You open your eyes.

Pale moonlight enters your vision. You take a deep breath, inhaling the cool night air deep inside your lungs.

Laying on the ground? You? Something brought you down. Something made you falter on a night of the hunt. Shameful. That is just not proper. Tentatively you rise to your feet. It's hard to walk.

The alleyway is dark and wet and full of filth. Best not disgrace yourself by languishing her much longer. Your slow wet steps echo through the alley. As you move, you reach around to your back, feeling the haft of your mentor. You close your eyes, watching for your mentor's guidance.

Your eyes flicker to the streets. They are empty for now. Your presence is unnoted. Strange symbols litter the signs that line the street. Caryll runes? No. These are runes, yet they do not carry the Eldritch voice of any Great One. You do not recognize them, not a single one. Where were you? Why were you in this strange city?

You look to see a furry white creature. Not a cat. Not a rabbit. A strange mixture of both.

You stare into its round emotionless ruby eyes.

You clear your throat and straighten your back, presenting yourself in a formal fashion. You bow, as is customary. The creature nods its head in return. Ah, it knows Manners and ettiquette.

"Ah. Greetings to you, little one." You say, trying to hide your confusion as to what the furry creature is. "I am Ludwig, first hunter of the Healing Church, known to many as the Holy Blade, Hunter of Beasts, and Defender of the Innocent. I must confess that I am confused as to your question? I am a man, am I not? And what are you, if it does not offend you for me to ask?"

The furry white creature regards you unblinkingly. After a moment, it speaks.

[i]I am Kyubey. You are an anomaly. Where are you from? You're not a known native of this planet.[/i]

"Interesting." Your eyes slide up to the city skyline. "This is obviously not Yharnam."

That is not a name you are familiar with. Not in the slightest. You shake your head as your mind fails to find any revelant information. In frustration you reach a hand over your back to hold your mentor in your grasp and close your eyes. Last you remember you were...

Steeped in the blood of beasts. Blood. Blood everywhere. Endless. The Endless hunt. Chaos.

You gasp, the scent of blood intoxicatingly present, as if you were drenched it in this very moment. Your grip tightens. Your guidance is there. Your guiding moonlight. You will not succumb. You control yourself, focusing on the light.

You see them dancing in the distance, beckoning to you. Reassured, you open your eyes and trot forward into the street. Kyubey follows behind you.
