Crash thoughts

Crash is back! For real this time.

The announcement at E3 was brief, but pretty brilliant. I came as soon as the Warped theme started blasting into everyone's ears. Now, onto what they actually announced:

Crash 1, 2 and 3 are getting remade on PS4, by Vicarious Visions, no less! VV are Crash vets and have worked with the series many many times in the past and i don't doubt their skills to make something great this time around. The remakes are coming to PS4 in 2017, but I guess as a way to hold us over 'till then, Crash is coming to Skylanders Imaginators as a PS4 exclusive figure.

This is actually a good thing, contrary to popular belief.

Crash being in Skylanders is actually good because

1. It's going to introduce a whole new generation of gamers to Crash, probably creating more Crash fans and maybe instigating them to look into other games in the franchise

2. It's going to make it so that not just die-hard fans can buy the remakes in 2017, but pretty much anybody who's familiar with the character through Skylanders (again, more chance of kids getting into it)

3. It's not like Spyro where they're just using to him as a stand-alone toyseller and pushing him to the sidelines; the fact that they're bothering to remake Crash 1, 2 and 3 means they actually care: plus, if the remakes do well and if lots of people buy them, we'll have more chances of getting new Crash games in the future.

And on the matter of his design...
It's great! It's really grown on me. It's obviously very heavily inspired on the Crash 1 early concept art/Willy the Wombat and i'm fine with that. It perfectly captures the character of Crash in-game and the fact that he actually uses his signature moves to fight instead of the Radical games' moveset is a welcomed change. His figurine is still a bit weird but it's nothing worth losing sleep over.

It's a very great time to be a Crash fan right now. Here's to the future.
