06[23:49] * Chase heads over and grabs a paper, paying for it and having a look-see. Let's see what we got here. Also, what time of day is it?
[23:51] <Shawyun_Sariri> It's around 11 AM at the moment.  The guy at the paper stand nods as you hand him the money and turns back to the guy he was discussing stuff with, another customer.

[23:52] <Shawyun_Sariri> Stand Guy: "So what's this you're saying about this Father Ruth guy?"
06[23:52] * Chase also eavesdrops because why not.
[23:52] <Shawyun_Sariri> You find a section in the classifieds for Breeders easily enough and start scrolling down as you listen.
[23:53] <Shawyun_Sariri> Regular: "Yeah, guy's been tryin' to establish a church, like the real shin dig with a building n' everything down by city hall."
06[23:54] * Chase tries to recall where he's heard the name before... oh right, the preacher dude that converted the stags to Bondye.
[23:54] <Shawyun_Sariri> Regular: "Been gettin' pretty popular around New Ivyhollow I hear.  Keeps havin' little congressions on campus in the mean time."
[23:54] <Shawyun_Sariri> Regular: "Word is he's been preachin' to those Wildlings as well so the Mayor's all ears for this sorta thing.  Good publicity."
[23:55] <Shawyun_Sariri> Stand Guy: "Seems decent enough.  What's the big deal?"
[23:55] <Shawyun_Sariri> Regular: "They say he's a faith healer or somethin'.  Doin' miracles n' shit as he's givin' his sermons."
[23:56] <Shawyun_Sariri> Stand Guy: "Man that could be anything we got tons of Mystics in these parts."

06[23:58] * Chase just shakes his head as he checks out the ad, not really thinking that much of the convo.

[00:00] <Chase> "Five, huh?" he considers that. Kind of shitty to walk right in her work hours with no business, but he doesn't have all day. Maybe he can catch her lunch hour, at least.

[00:01] <Chase> Well then, he can catch her before work! Off he goes...
[00:02] <Chase> He pockets the paper in a belt pouch or hammerspace or something for further reading later.
[00:02] <Shawyun_Sariri> You follow the streets toward the address and find yourself on the outskirts of a large dome that dwarfs many of the buildings arond here.
06[00:03] * Chase looks up, catching the brim of his new hat so it doesn't fall off. He gives a bit of a low whistle as he looks at the place.
[00:04] <Shawyun_Sariri> Looking around you see quite a few stores specializing in Pokemon accessories, TM's, a Thornberry Incorperated, office buildings for other Explorer Teams...certainly looks like you're heading the right way.
[00:05] <Chase> That dome must be the famed arena. Too bad they don't have actual tickets. But hey, Crabby Krabby is just as good, right?
[00:05] <Shawyun_Sariri> You even pass by the office of The Elemental Regalia, where there's a bit of a crowd out front, and spot The Crabby Krabby, which is a bit of a hole in the wall with a staircase downward.

[00:09] <Chase> "Elemental Regalia..." he pauses a moment, remembering hearing that name. Guess they're one of the more popular teams from the look of it. He decides to let the poor girl be, they'll probably meet later, anyway. He casually strolls along, trying to play it cool as he feels like he's being watched.
[00:09] <Chase> Though after a few moments he glances at a building window as he passes to see if he can catch a reflection.

[00:12] <Shawyun_Sariri> Either way, as you continue on you find the building.  It's a small, humble brick one stuck between two large department stores.  A picture of a Charmander hugging a red egg on the window and its name sake, Warm Hearth Adoptions.
[00:13] <Chase> "Now that, is just goddamn heartwarming." he remarks, looking at the picture.
06[00:14] * Chase checks the time, then gently knocks on the door if it isn't quite 12 yet.
[00:15] <Shawyun_Sariri> Inside the window you can see a familiar young woman with red hair chasing around an awnry Cyndaquil, she eventually catches it and tickles its belly.  There's quite a few young fire types roaming around freely.

[00:15] <Shawyun_Sariri> It's about 11:30 by now, so she seems a bit startled and heads to the door.

[00:17] <Scarlet> "Hello Chase," she says a bit sourly as her expression grows a bit cross.
06[00:17] * Chase chuckles a bit awkwardly and scratches the back of his head. "Uh, yeah... sorry. I didn't want to bug you during your work hours, but I figured this would be the best place to catch you."
[00:18] <Chase> "...sheez. That look right there is killing me. Not that I don't deserve it, mind you."
[00:18] <Scarlet> She steps aside, "Come on in, I guess."
[00:20] <Scarlet> "Want anything to drink?"
[00:21] <Chase> "Thanks..." he steps on in. "Nice place you have here... um, no thank you, I really shouldn't. Listen, I wanted to apologize about the other night. That was really, really shitty of me." He seems almost a bit cowed from his usual attitude. "I really just want to blame the liquor, but I'm not going to."
[00:21] <Scarlet> Inside you can see it has a bit of a living room feel to it.
[00:22] <Chase> He looks around, liking how nice and homey it is.
[00:22] <Scarlet> a fireplace that's lit with fresh logs, wood crackling softly and a pleasent scent.  Armchairs and sofas.  A few pamphlets on a coffee table.
06[00:22] * Chase takes his hat off inside, it's only polite.
[00:24] <Scarlet> She takes a seat in one of the armchairs and is immediately swarmed by a Growlith and the Cyndaquil, both competing to sit in her lap.  She bops them both on the head lightly and they snuggle up obiedently and share.

[00:29] <Chase> He has a seat in another of the chairs. "..Just me being a dickhead, I guess." he sighs. "Not on purpose, exactly... I'm... look, I'm -not- that kind of person, though. I mean, I got my reasons for being afraid of commitment, but I don't want to make excuses, that's not why I'm here. I'm not looking for a second chance to hit it off with you, because I realize I blew it pretty

06[00:36] * Chase can't help but shake his head. "There wasn't anything about that that was right. You want to know the hilarious part?"

[00:41] <Chase> "She wasn't even there for romance. She didn't even realize... It turned out she was a gym trainer from venomtalon on the run from her crazy mother, who wanted her to be watched at all times by a chaperone or something. A Heracross slammed into the place like ten minutes after you left and abducted her right on the spot. You can probably check the news or something about the
[00:41] <Chase> property damage, it was crazy." He can't help but laugh for a moment. "So all of that making of an ass of myself wasn't even for anything. Goddamn I'm pathetic." He sighs again after a moment. "Even if she had spent the night with me, though, I would have come to my senses after a bit and sought you out anyway. I feel seriously bad for all that."
[00:42] <Scarlet> She chuckles a little. "Venomtalon? Her?"
[00:43] <Scarlet> "How odd. Those people are the closest you can get to Amish in these parts."
[00:44] <Scarlet> She adjusts her glasses as she peers past you out the window.  "Though I suspect it explains those two."
[00:44] <Chase> "Yeah, seems that way. The way she was dressed, I'd guess she's the rebellious type-hm?"

[00:45] <Scarlet> You see the two women in business suits at a diner across the street.  One's got a pair of binoculars, staring through the window.  Green hair.
[00:45] <Scarlet> The other, blue hair, tackles her across the table and out of sight.
[00:46] <Scarlet> "You sure you don't have your own fan club or something?" Scarlet raises an eyebrow at this.
[00:46] <Chase> "So they -were- following me." he frowns. "Who the hell- what kind of conspiracy shit have I got wrapped up into now? Her mom's not that cray is she?"
[00:47] <Chase> "This doesn't feel right... Whatever reason they're following me I'm not going to get you involved in this."
[00:48] <Chase> He starts to get up.
[00:48] <Scarlet> "Mothers are oddly protective of their young, isn't that right?" she scratches both the Pokemon in her lap under the chin.
[00:48] <Chase> "Guess they are, but damn."
[00:49] <Scarlet> "I forgive you, but I am curious - why exactly are you afraid?"
06[00:56] * Chase bites his lip. "Several years ago, my sister- one of the Sundown Corsairs- went missing during some kind of shady job, presumed dead. I couldn't really handle it, me and Alicia were real close. I kind of lost it for a bit... my grades tanked, I almost flunked out of uni... And I hurt someone close to me back then real bad. She didn't deserve it, and I didn't get a chance
06[00:56] * Chase to apologize, either. It's real easy to hurt the ones you love... and... well, I know I should try and move past that. It's been years. But I'm still afraid of hurting someone else like that after seeing just how I can be, deep down. So I've kept my heart on my sleeve. [01:03] <Scarlet> "I can't really be sure, but you seem honest and sincere enough to truely mean it.  If you do change your mind, let me know.  I'll think on it some."

[01:06] <Scarlet> It's around this time a tall, muscular bearded guy opens the door.  He's got a huge ass torkoal with him.  Looks over the scene and the atmosphere carefully and just sorta freezes awkwardly.

[01:06] <Chase> "Uhh, sorry. 'scuse me."
[01:07] <Scarlet> "Uh.  Time bad?  Excuse me."  He's a foreigner it seems.
[01:07] <Scarlet> The torkoal can't quite fit through the door, it's sort of awkward as he shuffles back out with it to let you through.
[01:07] <Scarlet> Scarlet just giggles and shakes her head.
[01:07] <Chase> "Naaaah, go ahead." he laughs.
06[01:08] * Chase edges past a bit awkardly and waves the guy off friendly enough. He wonders if this is one of Ymir's friends. Surely all foreignors are kushvan and know each other.
[01:08] <Scarlet> You notice he's got a large guitar case on his back and is dressed like a rocker type.  He seems sorta awkward about the whole thing.  "Sorry.  Big turtle." He laughs awkwardly.
[01:09] <Scarlet> "Later, Chase," Scarlet says as she greets the guy.  Seems he's a customer to you.
06[01:09] * Chase notes this as he goes to leave. Honestly, he'd try and introduce himself but holding up scarlet's business is bad. He just watches the scene a moment, and begins to leave.

[01:10] <Chase> After this though, he crosses the street nonchalantly, directly approaching the goof spies' table.
[01:11] <Scarlet> The green haired one starts pointing and the blue haired one, who you can see is wearing glasses, just facepalms.
[01:11] <Scarlet> They don't really make an effort to get away.
06[01:12] * Chase walks right up, and puts a hand on a chair. "This seat taken?" he says, sitting, before they really have a response. "Alright, I know you two have been following me. What's the deal. You private investigators or something?"

[01:21] <Scarlet> Seir reaches down and pulls up a leather portfolio, slowly opening it.
[01:22] <Scarlet> "The matter concerning your sister.  We were tasked by The One and Only to investigate it on you behalf, as the contract agreed."
[01:22] <Chase> "Oh, this is about Alicia?" he's suddenly very interested.
[01:23] <Scarlet> "Apologizes on it taking so long to get back to you.  We have had a bit of a struggle finding the right resources and making the right connections."
[01:23] <Scarlet> Kali: "Insurance companies are -butt-!"
[01:24] <Chase> "It's not a problem, I didn't expect to hear anything this -fast-, actually..."
[01:24] <Chase> "On the other hand it's been hell trying to find out any information on what he tasked me with..." he grits his teeth and scratches his head.
[01:25] <Scarlet> Seir: "The One and Only expected as such, it is a delicate matter with many risks."
[01:26] <Scarlet> Kali: "Yeah there's a lot of people trying to kill you! Well, not YOU, but you know!"
[01:26] <Scarlet> Seir bops Kali on the head. "Anyway..."
[01:28] <Chase> "Yeah, I figured... I've got maybe one small thing to go on at the moment, but it isn't much... basically not too long ago I got apparently got to see the Flayed One in person, and his aura was just... a big, blue lightshow. I figure One N'Only's sis might have something like that, but it's been slow going, and my powers have been acting funny at times. Just flat out passed out

[01:40] <Scarlet> The Insurance Company was trying to weasel out of paying entitlements to the families of those there was no evidence of being deceased.  This got them some pretty nasty flak and threats from people armed to the tooth by word of mouth and old heritage, and they caved.
[01:41] <Scarlet> They considered all not-found survivors deceased for the sake of claims but did not list them in the claims.
[01:42] <Scarlet> Kali: "The problem is we couldn't find names for these two...they went by nicknames, even with The Doctor!"

[01:48] <Scarlet> Seir: "The next phase of our operation is to infiltrate the ranks of a privateering company."

06[01:48] * Chase looks up, returning the material, after taking a picture of Sunshine and Sissy.
[01:49] <Chase> "Thanks, you two... this... you don't know how this makes me feel. This is something, after years and years of absolutely jack shit."

[01:50] <Chase> "I don't want to get my hopes up too much -yet-. It's been five years... But you're doing great."

[01:51] <Scarlet> Kali seems likes its the happiest day of her life to be complemented, Seir simply nods professionally.  "The One and Only is good to his word.  Though I presume you may make more progress on this now than we will."

[01:52] <Chase> "It's definitely a start. Thank you, Kali. Seir. ...hm?"
[01:53] <Scarlet> "The One and Only suggests your fixations on these Sons of Grant might be too nearsighted.  Though I'm not sure what he means by that."
