  5. Other problems from yesterday’s test
  6. 8 - The adverb “indefinitely” is used the same way. It’s a period that possibly will end, but we don’t know when that will happen. It will continue as long as other conditions are more or less the same.
  7. 9 - Be careful with sentences that make judgments or comparisons. Make sure the same judgment or comparison can really be found in the text.
  8. 19 - One clue could be that the walls are totally “bare”, meaning there’s nothing else on them.
  9. 22 - It’s important to know that “game” means “animals for hunting”. The final sentence of the paragraph is meant to support the previous sentence, which introduces the idea that paintings were to increase the supply of animals.
  10. 24 - The sentence about deer and reindeer explains (“that is”) the previous sentence, which is about painting feared animals more. If they paint deer less, they therefore probably fear them less.
  11. 28 - A, D, and F are summaries of paragraphs 3, 4, and 5 of the reading passage.
  12. 29 - There are many words that start with ‘a’ and a double consonant that come from the root “ad-” meaning “to” or “onto”.
