To open Raw, Vince McMahon cut a promo in the ring, the rest of the Power Trip behind him.

"I understand that some people out there don't understand why I did what I did last night. Well, I'm more than happy to explain. Since the Raw after Wrestlemania, I've been pushed around at every turn. If it's not Goldust worming his way out of world title defenses, it's Box Office Bossman telling me what I can and cannot have on my show. And if it wasn't that, it was the Power Trip. At Summerslam, the Power Trip did something I thought was inexcusable, they brought in one of their own to referee a world title match. And when I got in that ring and took over refereeing duties, I felt power, real power, for the first time in a long while. After that, I was... I was on top of the world. And Mick Foley, who I consider, or at least considered one of my closest friends, was champion. No longer would I be pushed around by a champion who wanted to work on his own schedule. But Foley didn't have the same idea. He had somehow gotten it into his head that as champion, [i]he[/i] got to decide when and how he defended his title. I had a list of challengers written up! I was going to call the shots for once! But NO! Foley decided to set up his asinine "open challenge" and give any average joe off the street a shot at the WWF title! MY WWF TITLE! And you know what really sent me over the edge? When Brian Pillman wanted his title shot, I decided I'd take him on myself. Even the odds in an all-out brawl. And when he pinned me in the middle of that ring, that's when it finally sunk in that I could not beat the Power Trip... so I've joined them. And with the Power Trip by my side, I will finally regain control of my company! REMEMBER THAT! VINCE MCMAHON RUNS THE WWF, GODDAMNIT! AND VINCE MCMAHON RUNS THE POWER TRIP!"

Throughout Vince's rant, Jericho had been growing more and more uneasy, and that final statement proved to be the straw that broke the camel's back. He took the mic for himself, throwing Vince off guard.

"Hold on, Vince, because I've got a few things I want to get off my chest! When I joined this group, I thought it was about wrestling prowess, the 5 most powerful [i]wrestling[/i] talents joining forces to raise hell! But when you walked in and [i]gave[/i] us the victory, I was willing to go along. I wasn't happy, but I was willing to go along. But I will not be referred to as something that can be owned, something that can be pushed around. I will not dance on your strings, and I will not bend to your whims. YOU! DO! NOT! RUN! ME!"

With that, Jericho slapped Vince across the face, and started running wild on the Power Trip. However, the element of surprise didn't last long enough, and the Power Trip started beating him down, before--

TAZ RAN IN AND CAME TO JERICHO'S AID! Taz laid in suplex after suplex, taking the Power Trip by surprise and helping Jericho regain the advantage. Taz and Jericho were able to clear the ring, and shook hands as Vince made a hasty retreat, shouting at them all the while.
