- So I knew that I wanted to use Volturn with Hoopa since it cannot switch into any physical attacker. The first mon I paired it with was fat chomp to punish those mons that try to abuse hoopa by forcing it out (shout outs to TDK for the concept). The set is standard with fire blast to apply additional pressure on skarm and ferro. Then I paired it with bulky mega scizor. This is a defog scizor because hazards can get annoying but if you want you run defog on lati and run SD on scizor. The spread I use is 248 HP / 84 Atk / 176 Spdef with a bold nature. Anyway, scizor provides a check to literally everything that isn't a fire type. This mon is so good. And he gets that slow u turn to bring hoopa in safely. Next mon I added was latios because the 3 mons I had right now were troubled by fast waters like keldeo, zard y, offensive electrics, and I wanted to have an offense check to zard x. I'm using the cm set to break stall and offense alike. Again, this can be changed to standard defog if you want. The next mon I added was tornadus-t. This is to create the second component of a volturn core and offensive torn is pretty underrated rn. It hits so hard and breaks offense so easily. It's bulky even without an assault vest so it can take random scalds and hp ices pretty well. Finally, I added azu as further assurance vs bulky teams since hoopa breaks down azu checks like venu, amoong, rotom, ferro. Both of these take advantage of each other's support since the main way balance is dealing with hoopa atm is scarftar. Azu has a field day with a pursuit locked tar an garchomp makes your opp think twice about stone edging. Enjoy the team!
