  1. Otis:
  2. Thanks for contacting AppleCare chat support. My name is Otis. Please give me a moment to look over your information.
  3.
  4. Eric:
  5. Hello Otis
  6.
  7. Otis:
  8. Hey Eric, how are you?
  9.
  10. Eric:
  11. I'm doing great!
  12. Eric:
  13. How are you doing?
  14. Otis:
  15. I’m good. Thanks for asking. How may i help you?
  16. Eric:
  17. Well I'm looking for info on the iPhone Upgrade Program
  18. Eric:
  19. I've been looking all over to find my answer
  20. Eric:
  21. but I cannot find it
  22. Eric:
  23. So simply, I'd like to know
  24. Eric:
  25. is the iPhone Upgrade Program, going to be available at the start of pre-orders tomorrow morning?
  26.
  27. Otis:
  28. Yes it will
  29.
  30. Eric:
  31. Okay
  32. Eric:
  33. So tomorrow morning
  34. Eric:
  35. at 3:01 EST
  36. Eric:
  37. I will be able to check out the iPhone 6S Plus
  38. Eric:
  39. Using the iPhone Upgrade
  40. Eric:
  41. Method?
  42. Otis:
  43. Yes Sir
  44. Eric:
  45. Awesome!
  46.
  47. Otis:
  48. How to buy iPhone 6s with the iPhone Upgrade Program. You can make a reservation online, starting at 12:01 a.m. PDT on September 12, to buy in store. We’ll help you get set up with the iPhone Upgrade Program.
  49.
  50. Eric:
  51. What does that mean
  52. Eric:
  53. To buy in store
  54. Eric:
  55. Is it not being shipped to my house?
  56.
  57. Otis:
  58. You would need to make an appointment with the Apple Store to setup the program and it will be shipped to your house
  59.
  60. Eric:
  61. So this morning
  62. Eric:
  63. at 3:01
  64. Eric:
  65. I'm setting up an appointment?
  66.
  67. Otis:
  68. Yes, you will need to setup the program at the Apple Store. It doesn’t have to be at 3:01am but it must be done at the store.
  69.
  70. Eric:
  71. :-/ That confuses me
  72.
  73. Otis:
  74. 3:01am is when the program is available
  75.
  76. Eric:
  77. What I'm confused about is the whole
  78. Eric:
  79. Setup at the Store
  80. Eric:
  81. When I go on the Site tomorrow morning at 3:01AM
  82.
  83. Otis:
  84. Well the program requires signatures and must be done in person. You must also have a valid credit card handy as well.
  85. Otis:
  86. Does that make sense
  87.
  88. Eric:
  89. Yeah that makes sense
  90.
  91. Eric:
  92. So what you're saying is that, I'm not signing up for this program online?
  93. Eric:
  94. That's what I'm confused about
  95.
  96. Otis:
  97. OH
  98.
  99. Otis:
  100. Yes, the program is available exclusively in the Apple Retail Store
  101. Otis:
  102. Cannot be done online
  103.
  104. Eric:
  105. So I'm not going online at all at 3:01
  106. Eric:
  107. Is what you're saying
  108.
  109. Otis:
  110. You would need to make an appointment with the Apple Store online though
  111. Otis:
  112. Yes that is what I was explaining
  113.
  114. Eric:
  115. So when would I be able to make an appointment though?
  116. Eric:
  117. Like can I make an appointment for tomorrow now?
  118. Otis:
  119. You can make it now
  120.
  121. Eric:
  122. Ah well damn... I'm probably already late.
  123. ________________________
  124.
  125. Eric:
  126. Since you seem to know a lot about this program, can I ask you more questions after you set the appointment?
  127.
  128. Otis:
  129. Sure
  130.
  131. Eric:
  132. So now my next question is
  133. Eric:
  134. This program is through Apple only correct?
  135.
  136. Otis:
  137. Yes, your carrier may offer a similar program too
  138.
  139. Eric:
  140. Yeah AT&T Next which is crap
  141. ________________________
  142.
  143. Eric:
  144. Next question is, do I have to have an eligible Upgrade to do this program?
  145. Eric:
  146. I figure no because it's through Apple not AT&T
  147. Eric:
  148. Just need to confirm
  149.
  150. Otis:
  151. Yes, this plan is not associated with your carrier so you will be ok
  152. Otis:
  153. It is an unlocked phone
  154.
  155. Eric:
  156. Okay, that's a huge relief, that was what I was most concerned about
  157.
  158. Otis:
  159. Me too
  160. ________________________
  161.
  162. Eric:
  163. I have so many questions haha I'm sorry
  164.
  165. Otis:
  166. No problem.
  167.
  168. Eric:
  169. My next question is regarding the Yearly Upgrade
  170.
  171. Otis:
  172. I had the same ones too
  173. Otis:
  174. Ok
  175.
  176. Eric:
  177. Since this is technically a loan and not a lease
  178. Eric:
  179. What happens when I want the iPhone 7?
  180. Eric:
  181. Because, I'd only be half way into my 24 month loan
  182. Eric:
  183. So what happens to the other 12 payments?
  184.
  185. Otis:
  186. That’s the best part. After you’ve made 12 months of payments and you want to upgrade to the next one, you will need to give us you 6s and it will cancel the remaining balance and you can get the upgrade. I hope that makes sense
  187.
  188. Eric:
  189. Ohhhh yeah okay
  190. Eric:
  191. That makes perfect sense!
  192.
  193. Otis:
  194. Great!
  195. ________________________
  196.
  197. Eric:
  198. Now, my friend was wondering
  199. Eric:
  200. If he has like straight talk
  201. Eric:
  202. or a no contract carrier
  203. Eric:
  204. would he be able to do the iPhone Upgrade Program?
  205. Eric:
  206. I assume no, because it needs to be either AT&T, Sprint, Verizon, or T-Mobile.
  207. Eric:
  208. Again, just to confirm
  209.
  210. Otis:
  211. Well, that’s actually a question I not sure about. Technically all the no contract carriers use the the big four carrier’s network
  212. Otis:
  213. And Straight Talk definitely in that category
  214.
  215. Eric:
  216. Yeah I was wondering about that too, because since it's through Apple, and not the Carriers, I figured it was possible
  217. Eric:
  218. But just wanted a confirmation lol
  219.
  220. Otis:
  221. So, I assume that you would be able to do it, you would just need to call Straight Talk for a SIM card so the phone will connect to there network. The phone that is being financed is an unlocked phone though
  222. Otis:
  223. It should work with any net work
  224.
  225. Eric:
  226. Okay, so you're thinking the same way as me
  227. Eric:
  228. Since it's not through the carriers
  229. Eric:
  230. And only through apple as well as unlocked, it should work.
  231.
  232. Otis:
  233. Right
  234.
  235. Eric:
  236. Okay cool :)
  237. ________________________
  238.
  239. Eric:
  240. Next question (I think my last one)
  241.
  242. Otis:
  243. lol
  244.
  245. Eric:
  246. are we able to pay off the loan early?
  247.
  248. Otis:
  249. Yes you can
  250.
  251. Eric:
  252. Awesome!
  253.
  254. Otis:
  255. There are even other plans too
  256.
  257. Otis:
  258. 6, 12,18, 24
  259.
  260. Eric:
  261. Oh really? O_O Wow! That’s even better news haha
  262. ________________________
  263.
  264. Eric:
  265. Oh! I did have one more question before I forget
  266.
  267. Otis:
  268. OK
  269.
  270. Eric:
  271. As you said trading in the phone cancels the remaining balance
  272.
  273. Otis:
  274. Yes
  275.
  276. Eric:
  277. The question I have is, does the phone have to be like pristine?
  278. Eric:
  279. Can it have a few minor scratches?
  280. Eric:
  281. Normal wear and tear, etc..
  282.
  283. Otis:
  284. Yes it can, but AppleCare+ is included too. SO, if you damage anything you would just pay the service fee of $79 and we will repair it
  285.
  286. Eric:
  287. You guys thought of everything :P
  288. Eric:
  289. Thank you so much for all the info Otis
  290. Otis:
  291. No problem.
