- THE GINGRICH FILES by @Senator_Anarchy
- Newt Gingrich, the 2012 GOP candidate who takes pride in being the most blatant hypocrite in the race thus far, somehow actually has a chance. This is probably due to the lack of knowledge that the brainwashed citizenry of the United States have about him.
- So let’s take a look at what this American “patriot” has done and said, shall we?
- Newt Gingrich was the 58th Speaker of the House from January 4, 1995 – January 3, 1999 under President Bill Clinton. During his term as Speaker of the House, eighty-four ethics charges were filed against him. After an investigation by the House Ethics Committee, he was forced to pay $300,000. According to Wikipedia, Mr. Gingrich was the first Speaker of the House ever to be disciplined for ethical wrongdoing. In January of 1997, Mr. Gingrich admitted to giving inaccurate, incomplete, and unreliable statements to the committee. The House Ethics Committee concluded that the inaccurate information supplied to investigators was an “intentional or … reckless” disregard of House rules. Read more about this here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Newt_Gingrich#Ethics_sanctions
- We’re just getting started.
- Newt Gingrich prides himself in opposing the right of gay marriage because somehow two lovers who want to make their relationship legal - and happen to be of the same sex - ruins the sanctity of marriage. This is pretty typical of members of the Republican Party. What makes Mr. Gingrich’s ignorant statements more entertaining is his own experience with destroying the "sanctity" of marriage.
- While claiming to represent family values, Mr. Gingrich has also taken four “no adultery pledges”. The first was in 1962 when he married Jackie Battley, and then again in 1981 when he married Marianne Ginther, and then again to Callista Bisek in 2000. It should be noted that Mr. Gingrich has admitted to having an affair with his current wife while he was married to his first and second wives. His fourth no-adultery pledge was also his second to Callista Bisek (now Gingrich) in a letter to the Iowa-based group The Family Leader. In this letter he also promised to prevent federal spending dollars from paying for abortions overseas and to uphold the Defense of Marriage Act. Read the letter here: http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/ticket/newt-gingrich-takes-fourth-no-adultery-pledge-205324872.html
- So let’s get this straight. Cheating on your first two wives and filing for multiple divorces does not harm the sanctity of marriage, but two lovers of the same sex who wish to make their relationship legal, does?
- Isabel Friedman, president of the Penn Democrats, said it best when she confronted Gingrich after he gave a speech at the University of Pennyslvania: "You adamantly oppose gay rights... but you've also been married three times and admitted to having an affair with your current wife while you were still married to your second … As a successful politician who's considering running for president, who would set the bar for moral conduct and be the voice of the American people, how do you reconcile this hypocritical interpretation of the religious values that you so vigorously defend?" As expected, his answer avoided the question and can be read here, along with more information about Gingrich’s infidelity issues: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/02/23/newt-gingrich-affair_n_826970.html
- As Speaker of the House, the wonderful and always virtuous Newt Gingrich sponsored bill H.R. 4170: Drug Importer Death Penalty Act of 1996. This bill, which would have authorized the government to execute anyone transporting about 2 ounces of marijuana across the border, thankfully never became law. At a fundraiser in 1995 for Rep. Charlie Norwood, Mr. Gingrich said, “If you import a commercial quantity of illegal drugs, it is because you have made the personal decision that you are prepared to get rich by destroying our children. I have made the decision that I love our children enough that we will kill you if you do this.” What a family man; standing up and fighting a substance that studies have shown is less addictive than caffeine and has significant medical value. Thank you for trying to keep us safe, Newt!
- As expected with anything Mr. Gingrich does, there is an element of hypocrisy in this bill. Republican presidential candidate Gary Johnson, an advocate for marijuana legalization, recently called out Newt for this hypocrisy, pointing out that Gingrich has in fact admitted to smoking marijuana himself - and, while this law would not have given him the death penalty, it could perhaps have been used on whomever Mr. Gingrich purchased the marijuana from. Gingrich said in 1996 to Wall Street Journal reporter Hilary Stout that when he smoked marijuana "it was illegal, but not immoral", claiming that smoking marijuana "was a sign we were alive and in graduate school in that era.” He went on to say "Now, it is illegal AND immoral. The law didn’t change, only the morality… That’s why you get to go to jail and I don’t.” Sorry Mr. Gingrich, but morality doesn't change when it's convenient for you.

- Mr. Gingrich, who claims he will bring fiscal responsibility to Washington as president, has had many economic issues in his personal life:
- A Federal Election Commission complaint recently filed by the Citizens for Responsibility accused Mr. Gingrich of illegally profiting off his campaign. Read more about this here:
- Newt Gingrich’s campaign is over $1.1 million in debt, as reported by the Huffington Post. As a presidential candidate who believes he can change the government’s habit of spending more money than it has, this is pathetic. Read more here:
- According to Politifact.com, Newt Gingrich has lied on multiple occasions about his ability to balance a budget and reduce debt. His most recent lie regarding the matter was on December 15 during the Republican presidential debate in Iowa:

- As with most (if not all) neo-conservatives, Newt’s ignorance of rational foreign policy is just as blatant as his ignorance in, well, pretty much everything else. In a recent TV interview, he claimed that Palestinians are an invented people, adding the suggestion that they do not have a right to their own state. Gingrich, an unconditional supporter of Israel and apparently nation-states of all kinds (remember that Nazi Germany was a nation-state), has criticized the past three administrations for their “support” of a Palestinian state. In other words, he wishes for Israel to wipe out the remainder of the Gaza strip and the West Bank. I think it’s safe to assume he wishes for the Palestinians to be killed, as suggested by his comments at a recent Republican debate in which he claimed that Palestinians are “terrorists”.
