  1. Dear Sir or Madam
  2.
  3. Currently I am studying at King Edward's VI Aston Grammar School for Boys. I am in year 11 and my target grades are all A's or A*'s. Ideally I would go on to study Maths, Physics, IT and RM at A level. I have decided to try and switch to Bishop Vesey for sixth form because I prefer the facilities at the school and would enjoy a change to enrich my education, I also live a lot closer to Sutton that Aston so that would make my daily commute a lot easier.

  5. I thoroughly enjoyed getting a taste for the widest possible range voluntary involvement in school life; I especially enjoyed performing in "Oliver" with a cast equally divided between KE Handsworth and KEAston and would ideally play a larger role at some other point in my education. I also participated in inter house drama competitions as I progressed through school and helped with open evenings. I have gone on school ski trips to Canada and Austria which I really enjoyed because of the change in scenery, culture and of course, carving down mountains at about 30mph.

  7. I've honestly never being much of a hobbyist, mostly participating in something for a year or two and leaving plenty of time to socialise. I went through a phase of painting Warhammer models and using them to play the strategy based game. I've always loved reading and make sure I always have a book to get into. I spent a year at the school learning mixed martial arts that included some krav muga, boxing, kickboxing, judo and even disarming techniques. Recently I've started skateboarding and have always enjoyed skiing, ice skating and football. I have always liked gaming and tend to swing towards sandbox games such as Minecraft or incredibots which especially appealed to me because of the physics and ease to create. At school I'm still keeping my casual interest in drama active by taking enrichment drama classes.

  9. In terms of positions of responsibility, I am often elected as group leader in class projects and usually use online storage software such as Google drive to help a team edit or plan work together and ensure all have equal influence in the direction of the task. I have been undertaking a sports enrichment program that I do for my games sessions. Originally it was said we would help teach younger children to participate in sporting situations and we spent about half the sessions learning to teach basic skills. Unfortunately the program never went through but I still feel I learnt some adaptable leadership skills. The program has now shifted to a badminton tournament in which I am currently fourth and I was surprised how much I liked a sport that I have only briefly played in the past.
  10.
  11. I participated in inter school rugby events up until year 9 and have been involved in house events since; my decision to drop the sport was based on the desire that I wanted to try some other sports like hockey. I also got an award for the best academic achievement for RM in year 9.
  12.
  13. I've always been intrigued by architecture and helped construct a 2 story grain shed renovation and an extension on my own home, both resulted in a modern, minimalist, light look. The second of which kept a cottage theme with oak ceiling beams and rough hewn windowsills complemented by natural, rounded walls. Both projects required a lot of input into design plans and physical labour as the grain shed required a basement to be created from scratch, I even learned rudimentary bricklaying and plastering which I'm sure will pay off later in life.
  14.
  15. I see myself as a driven, adaptable character with a diverse skill set, I don't believe in mindlessly following a set path and will always debate any argument I have while being open to suggestions and criticism. I regularly talk to some of the students from Bishop Vesey and Sutton Girls and always look forward to visiting Sutton centre and catching up. I think I can be empathetic and actually get a lot of satisfaction from talking people through personal issues and picking apart any problems they face, because of this I would really like to enter a mentorship program in your sixth form or or even externally. I am very social and enjoy participating in sporting and social activities with friends, this includes includes a Christmas house party I'm hosting on the day we break up which I am very much looking forward to.
  16.
  17. I hope to hear back from you and start a base for a bright career. I would be truly grateful for a place and would make it my responsibility to make the largest contribution the the Bishop Vesey and Sutton community I can.
  18.
  19. Yours faithfully
  20. Jake Bennett
