  1. We continue! Deep in space on the unlisted Space Union station. Ramiel's piloting mentor has proposed an insane, and apocalyptic venture!
  2. Box-O-Rocks: "Victor... even IF this installation is at the center of the planet, and IF it does generate minerals... What do we even have to gain by going there?"
  3. Victor: Fame, absurd scholarly rights.
  4. Gaven C.: Hey
  5. Rilogator: Howdy, I'm here to watch
  6. Victor: Pulling this off will be a blank check. You will be famous for a thousand years!
  7. Gator (GM): Oop also
  8. https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B9zUbKbVjWUBMlR2S0hiZVBLNFU
  9. Fried Silver: "And if you fail, you'll go down in infamy for blowing up a planet of innocent people."
  10. victor: Sure, there are plenty of risks but that's why I'm asking you guys to do it. Despite Ramiel's skill he has remarkable luck.
  11.
  12. Box-O-Rocks shakes his head, "I like money, but I don't know that I'm willing to put that many lives, and potential clients, on the line for my own fame
  13. Box-O-Rocks: "Whoa, what? What's wrong with my skill? "
  14. Victor: Let's work on the list:
  15. Gator (GM): Your response time is only .34
  16. Your balance and orientation is hardly fine grade.
  17. Your ability to handle Gs is not even extraordinary.
  18. But by some weird kink you've never actually failed a maneuver.
  19. Fried Silver: "So, you're sending him not because he's good, but because he's lucky?"
  20. Gator (GM): Frankly, we need more than just skill to pull this off.
  21. Victor: Listen, you're an inorganic. You wouldn't understand. Real sentient creatures affect their fate besides statistical probability.
  22. Ramiel: "I have to side with Silver in this one. You should never have to rely on luck for success."
  23. Victor: Okay, you guys are still taking it in. But consider this: It's not just money, the fame and privilege here is unquantifible. You succeed and you will be known in history forever. There won't be a door closed to you for as long as you live, even after that they will still cart your body around.
  24. Fried Silver: "Victor what faith do you have that allows risking billions of lives for fame and wealth?"
  25. Victor: Oh please, have you actually looked at the specs of these ships? You get an engine leak and land on Eo somewhere and you have irradiated thousands of miles of land. The dangers of space flight to people are almost constant.
  26. Gator (GM): I mean, look at Anders. That runt fired nuclear ordinance at you because he wanted to win a contest.
  27. There is always a risk of supreme danger with these ships. It's what we do to keep up with Logos, the Space Union essentially is there to keep people from coming in contact with these dangers.
  28. Why do you think your repair costs have been comped so often?
  29. You fly off in a broken ship, it explodes somewhere unfortunate, people get scared of space flight. It's expensive as hell but it's progress.
  30. (Excuse me a sec.)
  31. Ramiel: "I assume comped cost are part of being contracted"
  32. Gator (GM): (Back)
  33. "Yeah, it's the space union that subsidizes most of those costs.
  34. Says victor.
  35. He leans back in his chair.
  36. "Well, we have some time technically speaking." He says, "I'd like you to check up on someone while you think about it. What do you say?"
  37. Ramiel: "Check up on who?"
  38. Gator (GM): An old acquaintance. He's a Celuose trader now. We call him tip-toe.
  39. "He's overdue for his a hearing on the station and could use an escort back." He says in a dull, stern voice.
  40. Ramiel: "Payout?"
  41. Gator (GM): He rubs his temple, "Yep, never changes... Bounty is 40,000, minus afew things."
  42. Fried Silver: "I assume he is needed for a plan that involves risking blowing up logos."
  43. Gator (GM): Victor shrugs and waves his hands.
  44. "No! I'm not a supervillain! I don't go to sleep everynight thinking, "How do I blow up that planet."
  45. "Yeesh."
  46. Ramiel: "Fine, this job will give me some time to think
  47. Gator (GM): Victor excuses himself after giving you coordinates of the suspect.
  48.
  49. Ramiel heads back to his ship
  50. Gator (GM): you head back to your ship. It occurs to you that you have Victor's insane missions as well as the Union listings. available.
  51. Fried Silver: "Sir Ramiel no offence, Your mentor is a horrible person."
  52.
  53. Ramiel speaks to Silver once they reach the ship. "Hey... I'm probably gonna take the job."
  54. Gator (GM): (Sock and Awe, is Ramiel going to destroy Eo?!)
  55. Ramiel: "I see this as a necessity at this point. I'm all for fame and fortune... but this cost is high... I think if we don't do it, someone else will. "
  56. "At least if I fail, I won't live to see the consequences."
  57. Fried Silver: "Well Sir Ramiel, I hope you won't be offended if I don't go for this job."
  58. Gator (GM): (Rillo gator says he had fun.)
  59. Ramiel: "You make whatever choice you want. I'll get a robotic crew if I need to to make this mission as likely to succeed as possible."
  60. Fried Silver: "Thank you for respecting my decision Sir Ramiel."
  61. Ramiel: "Thing is, if this mission is as important to him as he makes it out to be, he should give me ample time to practice in the ship, or at least a simulation of it."
  62. Fried Silver: "Guess he really believes that you'll succeed cause of luck."
  63. Gator (GM): (Little does he know of Victor's plan to drop a brick on the throttle and dive out of the ship.)
  64. Ramiel: "AN insane notion."
  65. Gator (GM): (Victor has always been superstitious, as you recall.)
  66. Ramiel: "I plan to make the rely on as little luck as possible. I haven't gotten this far on luck alone, despite what Victor may think"
  67. "Practice will be absolutely vital, is all I'm saying."
  68. Gator (GM): (Which location would you like to go to?)
  69. Fried Silver: (Lets do the 40k job.)
  70. Gator (GM): Silver punches in the coordinates. It looks like a specific spot on Pao.
  71. Ramiel: "Ah, back to that Backwater planet."
  72. Fried Silver: "Well we can do a different job Sir Ramiel."
  73. Ramiel: "It's fine. I can handle that place."
  74. Gator (GM): (Give me a sec here.
  75. Fried Silver: (before we go, can I go buy food and camping supplies?)
  76. Gator (GM): yee.
  77. https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B9zUbKbVjWUBMlR2S0hiZVBLNFU
  78. ctrl+f items
  79. Fried Silver: (spend 33$ an antidote and dissinfectants.)
  80. Gator (GM): (Done.)
  81. Fried Silver: (How much would a hot plate & a 12 canned goods cost?)
  82. Gator (GM): 13 dollars
  83. Exactly
  84. Proceed?
  85. Fried Silver: "Yes."
  86. Gator (GM): You fly for a period of time and land at the pad at Hunter's den. Despite the squinty glares from everyone, it's more welcoming than Pete's pad.
  87.
  88. Ramiel keeps his helmet on, better to stay low profile
  89. Gator (GM): You are approached by a gruff individual sholdering a machine gun.
  90. Man: Waddup?
  91. Fried Silver: "Hello there sir."
  92. Ramiel: "Here on business. There a cellulose trader here?"
  93. Gator (GM): "We can trade in anything you will pay for... But yeah. He checked out afew weeks ago."
  94. Fried Silver: "Any info you have on where he went sir?"
  95. Gator (GM): "$100." The man says.
  96. Fried Silver: (rolling to perswade him to give it for free.)
  97. rolling 1d100 + 60
  98. (
  99. 45
  100. )+60
  101. = 105
  102. Gator (GM): rolling 1d100+25
  103. (
  104. 92
  105. )+25
  106. = 117
  107. Oh wow.
  108. He refuses, he wants 100.
  109. Fried Silver: "Fine."
  110.
  111. Fried Silver hands over 100$
  112. Fried Silver: "Now where did he go?"
  113. Gator (GM): "Follow the eastern trail. He is gone for weeks at a time so he is probably about about a week travel."
  114. He holds up his hand for a second, "You guys sure you want to just walts in unprep'd?"
  115. Ramiel: "What do you consider prepped?"
  116. Gator (GM): "Camo. Guns. A backpack. I can sell you some salves for out in the bush."
  117. Fried Silver: "How much for the salve?"
  118. Gator (GM): About $1000 a jar.
  119. Fried Silver: "I'll pass.."
  120. Gator (GM): "Well yeah, you're a robot. I mean for rocket jock over here."
  121. He waves to Ramiel.
  122. Ramiel: "What's stopping me from flying over there?"
  123. Gator (GM): There mercenary thinks for a long time then shrugs.
  124. He can't think of a reason you actually shouldn't.
  125. Ramiel: ( Did he give us coordinates or just a direction and travel time? )
  126. Gator (GM): (Just direction and travel time. But you are pretty certain you could figure out where from that information.
  127. (Ugh, sorry for being slow here guys. This cold is a slog.(
  128. Ramiel: "Silver, could you please calculate where and how far we'd need to go based on direction and average travel time on foot."
  129. Gator (GM): (25 miles.)
  130. Fried Silver: (was gonna roll.)
  131. rolling 1d100 + 40
  132. (
  133. 13
  134. )+40
  135. = 53
  136. Gator (GM): 100 miles
  137. Ramiel: calculators don't roll!
  138. Gator (GM): Roll probability to find accurate calculations!
  139. Ramiel: that doesn't sound like something I'd get a bonus in.
  140. so...
  141. Gator (GM): You estimate 20 to 50 miles east.
  142. Hope in your rocket and check it out?
  143. Worse that happens is that you have to come back.
  144. Ramiel: guess so
  145. "Silver, hop on sensors."
  146. Gator (GM): Give me a sensors roll, beat 80
  147. Fried Silver: "Sure thing Sir.."
  148. (Jee was the sensor person.
  149. rolling 1d100 +
  150. (
  151. 54
  152. )
  153. = 54
  154. Gator (GM): I occurs to you that this is difficult. Maybe there is another way.
  155. Fried Silver: "Sir, we can just make stops at villages and asked if they seen our target."
  156. Gator (GM): Villages you can find easily.
  157. Ramiel: "What a pain."
  158. Hey, you offer an land vehicles here?"
  159. Gator (GM): (I assume you mean the mercs, right?)
  160. Ramiel: Yes
  161. Gator (GM): He points to someone else saying, "Not me, but he can."
  162. The other man looks at you already with his bargaining face on.
  163.
  164. Ramiel approaches him, "I'm told you can get me a vehicle."
  165. Gator (GM): The man says he has motorcycles, trucks, you name it.
  166. He says fuel costs extra.
  167. Ramiel: "You have any mobis?"
  168. Gator (GM): "What is a mobi?" The man says.
  169. Ramiel: "Guess not then. You have rough terrain bikes right?"
  170. Gator (GM): "Everything here is rough terrain, it kind of goes without saying."
  171. Ramiel: "How much to rent two?"
  172. Gator (GM): He looks at you for abit then says, "3k."
  173. Ramiel: "Make it 2k"
  174. Gator (GM): "I lose alot of money on people who don't return when they say they rent, you see."
  175. Fried Silver: (I'll try to persuade again.)
  176. Gator (GM): "Alright... I'll guard your ship until you get back, with my bikes." He says with a stern look.
  177. Fried Silver: rolling 1d100 + 60
  178. (
  179. 52
  180. )+60
  181. = 112
  182. Gator (GM): He appears to be making some sort of threat.
  183. "Alright, 2k. But if you welch I'm taking it out of your ship."
  184. Ramiel: "Fair enough. Take good care of the ship, keep away anyone too interested, and I'll leave something extra for you."
  185. Gator (GM): "Pleasure doing business."
  186.
  187. Ramiel hands him 2k
  188. Gator (GM): Searching with bikes is abit easier. You can use your senses instead of equipment.
  189. Beat 80.
  190.
  191. Ramiel locks down his ship before he leaves
  192. Gator (GM): What is the lock on the ship like? Do you think it's a key think or a number pad thing?
  193. Fried Silver: "Sir Ramiel have you ever rode a bike before?"
  194. Ramiel: (( imo, I imagine a physical key, along with some authenticator, and all doors on the ship lock as well as well any moving surface that doesn't need to move when landed. ))
  195. Gator (GM): ((Cool))
  196. Ramiel: (( A big ship wouldn't just be a set of keys like a car right? ))
  197. Gator (GM): ((Why not? ))
  198. Ramiel: You treat like it's some heavy equipment that can be really dangerous to others. especially when a ship engine leak can destroy lands for years."
  199. (( didn't mean to quote that ))
  200. Gator (GM): ((True. But really the best security is a phsyical device like a key and then maybe a password for operating the ship.))
  201. Ramiel: (( That's not to mention that the ship has weapons on it, making security a major concern as well))
  202. (( That is why I said key and an authenticator ))
  203. ((anyways, moving on. ))
  204. Gator (GM): RIght right.
  205. Ramiel: roll senses beat 80 yada yada
  206. that a mind bonus like perception?
  207. Gator (GM): Yep.
  208. Ramiel: rolling 1d100+35
  209. (
  210. 65
  211. )+35
  212. = 100
  213. Gator (GM): 00
  214. Ramiel: ((something satisfying about getting matching digits. ))
  215. Gator (GM): Beat it. After afew hours of flopping around on bikes you encounter a group handling logs with power says.
  216. it is.
  217. Amongst the group you find a freakishly tall rabit. He looks kinda deformed.
  218. To the left you see a friggin flying saucer.
  219. Ramiel: "Bet you he has a space slug" Ram whispers to Silver
  220. Does our mission details give us our guys name?
  221. Fried Silver: "Maybe he's a basketball star Ramiel."
  222. Gator (GM): Tip Toe
  223. Species: Lagomorph.
  224. Known celluiose trader on Pao.
  225. Wanted for Poaching, Logos data crime.
  226. Ramiel: "Sounds like we found our guy."
  227.
  228. Ramiel deploys his drone and approaches the group, "Excuse me! Is there a Tip Toe here?"
  229. Gator (GM): The loggers turn off their saws and they all line up.
  230. The giant rabbit says, "What?"
  231. Ramiel: "Is there a Tip Toe here? The cellulose dealer, Tip Toe."
  232. Gator (GM): The line moves forward. The tallest of them says, "Again, what?!"
  233.
  234. Ramiel rubs his visor. "We're here to bring you back to the space union. You're overdue for review."
  235. Gator (GM): "No, bugger off. I gotta quota to make here."
  236. He says.
  237. Ramiel: "Sir, don't make this difficult, the sooner we get this done, the sooner we can get you back here."
  238. Gator (GM): He remains firm in his stance, "I'll go when I'm good and ready! Unless you hare going to give me a ton of wood, get off my site!" He waves you off.
  239. Ramiel: "What a pain. Fine, Silver..." He gestures for the robot to follow."
  240. Fried Silver: "Okay Ramiel."
  241. Gator (GM): (What are you going to do? What are you going to do?!)
  242. Fried Silver: "Sir Ramiel, we could always get help from the locals here, I'm sure they're aginst de-forrestation like all those movies that are made about Pao."
  243.
  244. Ramiel whispers to Silver once out of sight, "Once they get back to work, sabotage their ship. I'm gonna mark this spot so I can fly here quick. If he won't listen I'll glass this site until he has no choice."
  245. Ramiel: "I trust my ship more than locals, they'll only get hurt anyway."
  246. Gator (GM): (That is actually a very cunning plan.)
  247. Feeling the need to make captain planet cry, they continue downing tree after tree.
  248.
  249. Ramiel nods to Silver.
  250. Gator (GM): Sabo the saucer?
  251.
  252. Fried Silver puts on a camo cloak and sneaks to the ship.
  253. Ramiel: "First we make it look like we're leaving though. Get on your bike."
  254. Fried Silver: (mind or agl for stealth?)
  255. Gator (GM): Agi
  256. Fried Silver: rolling 1d100 + 35
  257. (
  258. 23
  259. )+35
  260. = 58
  261. Gator (GM): oop, sorry, mind.
  262. Fried Silver: rolling 1d100 + 60
  263. (
  264. 94
  265. )+60
  266. = 154
  267. Gator (GM): You sneek in, the buzzing of the tools cover your approach well.
  268. Safely sabotaging the ship is alittle tricky, deffinitely a professional job. Roll over 100.
  269. Fried Silver: (add science?)
  270. Gator (GM): ...Sure.
  271. yeah, I forgot ab out that.
  272. Fried Silver: rolling 1d100 + 70
  273. (
  274. 14
  275. )+70
  276. = 84
  277. Gator (GM): You do your best. You aren't certain but you are pretty sure it won't work and they won't take off.
  278. Fried Silver: "Sir Ramiel are you sure this is the best plan?"
  279. Ramiel: "Probably. Let's go."
  280. Gator (GM): Okay, that's enough for today. By that I mean I am done and need a stretch.
  281. Ramiel: alright, good session
  282. Gator (GM): Okay, today we are looking at about 50xp.
