- Orioles owner Peter Angelos wants to put his mark on the team -- not by firing the manager or by signing another five free agents -- but by changing the uniforms.
- Angelos and Orioles vice chairman Joseph Foss have been looking at several new uniform, logo and cap designs for the 1995 season.
- The deadline for submitting such changes was last Friday, but Angelos said, "I was told there is still time to work on a revision."
- The Orioles are said to be discussing a variation of the 1966 uniform, which had caps with a cartoon-type bird and pants with belt loops.
- "A number of cartoon-type birds have been discussed for the hat," Angelos said.
- However, Angelos said he was leaning toward keeping the cap with the ornithologically correct bird.
- Final decisions about the specific changes will be made next week, and the new styles will be unveiled in late fall, Foss said.
- "We may do uniforms, we may do hats, we may do logos," Foss said. "It's kind of a first opportunity that the new management and ownership have to make a change."
