A modern day online friends AU. The members of Mekakushi Dan never died/entered the daze and are just normal teenagers living in different parts of the world, continuing the life they had before entering the daze. They start an online chatroom known as 'Mekakushi Dan' for teenagers who need an escape from the real world in a group of friends who can understand them.

Ayano -
Growing up with very busy parents was already tough for only child Ayano, but to make it worse, her mother died on an expedition. Ever since then, her father has been engrossed in his work and very different/distant. Feeling pretty lonely and depressed, she decided to start an online chatroom in order to make some potentional friends who understand what she's going through/who she could help.

Kido -
She continues to live in her father's house with her stepmom and sister as the unwanted child who wishes to be invisible. When she stumbled upon the chatroom, it felt almost like an instant escape for her since it's easy to hide online. The feature "invisible" is actually a very comfortable one to her which she uses often, but she assumes her role as leader by hosting all the calls the Dan has. Kido tends to be quiet in the group chat but speaks up when she knows it's needed.

Seto - (taken)
Being a victim of bullying  his whole life, Seto knows the pain of hurtful words. Because of this, he always dedicated his time to going on anonymous advice websites to give sad people like himself  helpful, happy advice. He tries to put himself into peoples' shoes in order to relate better and "get into their heads" so to speak. Coming upon the chatroom was something very special to him because it was something new to be explored and also included more troubled teenagers who he could make smile as best he can!

Kano - (taken)
Growing up with an abusive mother clearly wasn't a good thing for Kano. In fact, all the years of not being able to lie about where he got his bruises eventually got his mother arrested for some time while he was forced to be watched over by distant relatives. He soon discovered how absolutely easy it was to lie /online/ since he wasn't very good at it in real life. Making fake profiles believeable to become anybody he wanted and lying about his emotional state was soon his speciality. Finding the chatroom was one of the first times he let his guard down and tried being as much of himself as he really could, but still, he never tells anyone his true emotions.

Mary - (taken)
A recluse, really. Only because of her extremely overprotective and overbearing mother. Mary's homeschooled and because of this, never was able to really make any friends. Since her mother very greatly disagreed with meeting people online, it took the young girl years to finally get up the courage to sneak onto the family computer in order to explore just a little. She posted about her woes on an advice website and was greeted by such a friendly response! The boy reached out to her and invited her into a chatroom for people just like her. Although Mary was extremely nervous, she agreed to it, and now attempts to sneak on more often in order to talk to her only friends.

Momo -
All she really wants is some attention. Being the youngest child who gets bad grades eats at Momo constantly, not to mention how family fiancial problems affect her view of herself. She would do anything in order to help out her mom (since her dad has still passed) but she just doesn't know how to. In attempts to find some people who might be able to give her advice, she seeked out an online chatroom... but soon became used to always talking to these people who supported her and actually gave her the attention she felt she needed. She talks about them occasionally during dinner time as well, and her older brother makes fun of her for it. Momo complains about Shintaro often.

Takane -
She's just a girl with a physical illness who often wishes to be immortal. In order to feel closer to that goal, she creates an OC (original character) which she calls Ene and roleplays her on certain websites. She was never good at getting along with people and still doesn't so much online. This is why Ene is  an escape for her to let out all her pent up friendly feelings. She's also still, of course, an online gamer. Coming upon the chatroom was a complete accident while she was browsing for a particular fandom one for a new upcoming game sensation. Just after lurking for a few days, she started to speak up more because of how nice the atmosphere felt.

Shintaro - (taken)
Hearing his sister blab on and on about her online friends was getting pretty annoying. In order to attempt and put an end to all of it, Shintaro decides to grab the link from Momo's computer when she wasn't looking and sign into the chatroom from his own computer as 'Anon-chan'. He was just a lurker... sitting, watching, reading, understanding these people. He would speak occasionally but it'd be very sarcastic remarks. He couldn't let his sister know it was him, of course. It soon became a normal thing to want to obsessively watch what these people were doing and he started to feel included when he spoke up more. They still don't know his real identity just yet.

Hibiya - (taken)
A young boy with his first computer. It's explanitory in itself, really. Hibiya  spends all his time looking at stupid  gifs, funny videos, bad memes, etc. He types like a tool who's never used the internet before, because well, he hasn't. The internet was also a convenient way for him to cyber stalk her crush, Hiyori.  Hibiya's another one of the chatroom members who came upon it accidentally while looking for something else, and of course lied about his age since everyone else seemed to be teenagers. They all think he's 16. Since he's socially awkward, he mostly just spams links of his weird things for everyone to look at.

Haruka - (taken)
He's a growing boy with a worsening illness. Because of this, Haruka lives in a hospital being cared for but a few of his "happy places" include the cafeteria, his bed, his sketchpad, and the small computer lab on the second floor. Browsing the internet curiously was always interesting to him and finding out that he can post some of his artwork online was even better! When people would compliment him, it would make Haruka smile lots, since online his illness didn't define him at all. When browsing an art website, he noticed quick sketches of someone's original character named 'Ene' and decided to give drawing her a shot. After posting it, the creator seemed only slightly ecstatic but obviously grateful, and Haruka offered to make an original character of his own so the two of them can RP! It wasn't too long after that Takane invited the boy to their chatroom where he fit in almost instantly.
