  1. A photograph of a certain scene, on a certain day, captured a certain group of girls forever in a single instance. The photographer can only be Homura Akemi, for she would have been next to one very special person if she were in it. The image was coated in the black and white of yesteryear, but in the minds of these girls it would be as golden as a well polished saxophone.
  2.
  3. The girls depicted were, from left to right respectively, Mami Tomoe, Kyoko Sakura, Madoka Kaname, and Sayaka Miki. Each and every single girl wore a different costume. They all belonged to an organization known as Magical Girls, a secret order tasked with seeking and destroying Witches.
  4.
  5. Mami Tomoe, the older sister of everyone and the flashiest dresser there, had the look of satisfactory exhaustion. Her hair was disheveled, her hat slanted a different direction, her costume torn and burnt in several places. With one hand she leaned on a beautifully crafted musket.
  6.
  7. She was talking with Kyoko Sakura, who had a fresh stick of rocky jutting out from her teeth and her lance propped up on her shoulders. She was in worse shape, gashes all over her body that still seeped partial blood rivers. Her hair was burnt, that ponytail much shorter, but a victorious grin laughed on. Both were pointing at the cloudy sky with angel beams coming down, going over the battle that had occurred mere moments ago.
  8.
  9. Sayaka Miki had an arm around Madoka Kaname's shoulder, with the other arm up to the skies, a cracked sword clutched in her grip. She was physically fine, just dirty all over. Her face was that of the sun's in a child's crayon drawing, minus the sunglasses. She was talking to Madoka, in mid sentence.
  10.
  11. Madoka Kaname was the only one to have noticed the photographer. Standing in her best light, she smiled sweet into the lens, radiating her personification. She was immaculate in a sea of peaceful death.
  12.
  13. A hand with a purple diamond set in the middle, with a soaked sleeve clinging to the wrist, held up two fingers spread in the peace sign. Madoka Kaname mirrored the hand.
  14.
  15. Everyone stood in the ankle deep water with rubble spotting the ground like gravestones. A city used to stand here. That city was Mitakihara Town, and it suffered the worst hurricane in its history. The day was April 21st, 2011, and the scene was of a defeated Walpurgis Night.
  16.
  17. Everyone was happy.
  18.
  19. The past was closed.
