[2015-03-25 13:55:57] <Kkat> 3The Silos are sealed.  The great doors have closed.
[2015-03-25 13:58:01] <Kkat> 3The zebras around town seem to treat this as business-as-usual.  You get the feeling that The Silos are regularly sealed.  But probably not for the reasons that they have been today.
[2015-03-25 13:58:27] * Noble_Heart scowls upwards at the darkness far above. "How... Inconvenient." She paces in a circle around the deck a bit anxiously. Watching the crowds of zebras as they mill about. At least the initial surge of complaints and possible danger had been dealt with for the other pirate ship.
[2015-03-25 13:58:54] * Bookwright is going to take a break from searching for books and is planning a day of sightseeing! Insofar as there are sights that can be seen.
[2015-03-25 13:59:21] * Bookwright "Just think of it as an opportunity to slow down and see the sights for a bit, instead of flying over them or blowing them up!"
[2015-03-25 14:01:33] * Get_Lost trots outside the quartes, looks up "well, looks like these guys take rain very seriously..."

[2015-03-25 14:06:18] * Noble_Heart sighs quietly and blows a bit of errant mane out of her face. "We suppose it is a good time to explore this settlement." She ruffled her wings slightly.
[2015-03-25 14:07:14] * Bookwright "Yeah! I still have that old scroll detailing that complicated hairdo from the Crystal Kingdom. Let's find a stylist and get your mane done up!"
[2015-03-25 14:10:58] * Golden_Dream sits on the deck of the "Rainbow Connection". She'd brought up the name as a joke, imagine her surprise when it's the name that people decide to go with. "I'm down with that. Y' wanna bring Get so she can get outta her hole fer' a while?"
[2015-03-25 14:12:25] <Kkat> 3Jugeote and Mwana return after a ship's council aboard the /Cutlass/.  Mwana sits next to Golden_Dream while Jugeote finds Shatara and Noble_Heart.
[2015-03-25 14:14:45] * Shatara smiles to Jugeote as she returns, still a bit exhausted from playing proticol droid

[2015-03-25 14:26:48] * Shatara shrugs a little to Jugeote. "Tired...not used to talking this much..."
[2015-03-25 14:27:33] <Kkat> 3Mwana notes, "Granted, being ponies, you're going to draw attention.  But The Silos are huge.  Got the remnants of every fallen Free City crammed into these things."

[2015-03-25 14:30:12] <Kkat> 3Jugeote smiles, "I'm rather used to all the talking, but I know how you feel.  Not many of the crew can speak anything other than zebra."

ACTION sticks her tongue out at Mwana. "Yeah. It'll be fun. We'll get t' walk around a place and not be afraid of bein' shot every two steps we take." She pauses. Her face slowly becomes a bit more hesitant. "Err. Well. Now we only gotta be scared every /three/ steps we take." She remembers the thought of being looked at by all the crystal ponies, and gets a sinking feeling in her gut whenever she realizes the same thing will probabl
[2015-03-25 14:31:00] * Golden_Dream laughs hesitantly. "Yeah. It'll, uh. It'll be like walking in a museum, Bookie."

[2015-03-25 14:33:48] * Bookwright "Mwana, what do you mean when you say 'Free City' and say that there are more than one that have 'fallen'?"
[2015-03-25 14:34:25] * Noble_Heart blinks at Golden_Dream, "We were? We remember you being rather embarassed about your love of that dress. Were We mistaken?" She smiled a bit. "Perhaps you should show it to your friend? We believe it still looks good on you."
[2015-03-25 14:40:30] * Golden_Dream seems struck. Her cheeks light up like a pink lantern "Naw, naw. I don't, uh. Naw, he wouldn't like all that girly stuff and-" The volume of her speech had an odd quirk in which it grew quieter the longer she was on that statement. She recovered, voice as loud and as boisterous as ever, face still lit up bright. "Hey, don't fuggin' change th' subject, princess."
[2015-03-25 14:40:38] * Shatara nods a little. "Well, at least you're in your homelands. I'm not sure how we came out this far without anyone knowing zebra."
[2015-03-25 14:45:34] <Kkat> 3Mwana explains, "You know... well, I guess you don't.  Free Cities -- cities that aren't under the hoof of Roam.  Fallen... Roam's taken them.  Or destroyed them."
[2015-03-25 14:47:07] <Kkat> 3Mwana says, "Free Cities don't pay tribute to Roam, don't worship the Caesar.  We get on however we want to without them."
[2015-03-25 14:47:22] <Kkat> 3Mwana adds, "They don't like that."
[2015-03-25 14:48:16] * Noble_Heart chuckled at Golden Dream's comments then smiled. "It is true. We are not deserving to rule. We have done too many things to too many ponies for that to be something We would wish." She looks down at Golden Dream. "But We still think you look lovely in that dress."
[2015-03-25 14:49:58] * Bookwright "So this place, this is the last remaining Free City? All the history of the other cities, what could be scraped up and brought with by fleeing refugees is all here?" He looks around with newfound wonder. "This place is truly a treasure, a bastion worth defending."
[2015-03-25 14:51:07] * Golden_Dream raises her hooves in defiance and blustery anger. "I ain't sayin' if y' do wanna be royalty, Noble, I'm sayin' y' should look it fer' a while!" She looks at Mwana. The excited energy she had fell away. "Reminds me of th' NCR. But a whole lot meaner."
[2015-03-25 14:56:31] * Bookwright eyes Golden_Dream coldy. "Meanness is relative. What Roam has done to the Free Cities, what NCR does to the tribes, they're not so different once you get past all the politics."
[2015-03-25 14:57:25] <Kkat> 3Mwana stares at Golden_Dream.  "You have a dress?"
[2015-03-25 14:57:37] * Bookwright points at his saddlebags, where the mark of the Followers of the Apocalypse is prominent. "That's why I'm out here. Trying to protect history. Before it gets swallowed up."
[2015-03-25 14:58:09] * Shatara wanders over to the others. Possibly with Jugeote
[2015-03-25 14:59:12] * Kkat 3nods to Bookwright.  "Yeah. Tres is just one Silo.  There are three of them.  And they're all this crowded.  We've taken refugees from every Free City that has fallen."
[2015-03-25 14:59:58] <Kkat> 3Jugeote follows Shatara.
[2015-03-25 15:00:01] * Golden_Dream looks at Bookwright as if he had said the stupidest thing ever. "... Other than th', y'know, total killin', razin', and systematic subjugation of entire towns what don't think like they do. Th' NCR at least does it nicer in that they do it with money instead 'a puttin' a gun t' yer' face."
[2015-03-25 15:00:15] * Bookwright nods. "It will be an honor to help you defend The Silos from Roam."

[2015-03-25 15:01:13] * Golden_Dream rolls her hooves. "Not sayin' I like either one, but if I had t' pick between th' two, It'd be th' one what Pip is lookin' after."
[2015-03-25 15:02:45] * Noble_Heart contemplates that and frowns. "We wonder whether Roam's intents are perhaps more effective. If more cruel. It seems that they were so efficient that they drove away spirits that feed upon mistrust and hatred and infighting. That is impressive, if disturbing." She scowled harder. "We have learned that you cannot force anyone to believe what you do. And trying is a recipe
[2015-03-25 15:02:46] * Noble_Heart for tragedy and disaster."
[2015-03-25 15:02:53] * Bookwright "Golden Dream, do you ever wonder why I don't have any tribal markings? Why I don't have any tribe? It's because my culture, /my birthright/ is gone. Destroyed. Kill ponies, and culture can live on. Annihilate culture, and you've destroyed history, destroyed memory. Whether by Caesar's sword or by NCR's money, it's lost either way."
[2015-03-25 15:04:34] * Noble_Heart frowns at Bookwright, but says nothing at that. She had said it before, after all. And there was no need to argue it here, now. Instead she gave Jugote a polite nod and turned from the group to look over the side of the ship.
[2015-03-25 15:06:44] * Bookwright scowls at Noble_Heart. "Who are you to judge me, you who do not know your own history?"
[2015-03-25 15:07:40] * Mwana 3looks to Noble_Heart, "Oh, but according to the Empire, they're all one big, loving family.  All happy and loving and peaceful..."  He frowns.  "I don't buy it.  But I'm not sure if it scares me more to think that it's all bullshit, or to imagine that it's not."
[2015-03-25 15:09:36] * Noble_Heart winces at that, turning to face Bookwright with a snarl, "Some histories are better left burried. If you had perspective maybe you'd understand that."
[2015-03-25 15:11:32] * Golden_Dream gives Bookie a flat look before attempting to fwap him behind his ear. "I can't do that t' Noble 'cause she's too tall, but you two have this here argument on th' way t' th' residential district."
[2015-03-25 15:11:45] * Bookwright holds Noble_Heart's glare. "My only perspective is that my history has been blown away like untethered barks on the ocean, and here I am staring at them receding into the sunset."
[2015-03-25 15:11:50] * Golden_Dream gets her things, including her favored shotgun, and steps off the boat.
[2015-03-25 15:12:46] * Shatara rubs his non-pibuck'd wrist nervously.
[2015-03-25 15:16:59] * Noble_Heart snorts and stamps her forehoof. "And perhaps for that you are better off. One does not typically erase from history what is not worth forgetting. Or would you like to be told that your family were cannibals or rapists or murderers?" She glared down at him. "Or worse. That they had held the secret of building the weapons that could end the world. Would you preserve that
[2015-03-25 15:16:59] * Noble_Heart knowledge? Knowing it could end everything those in the ruins have worked to build!?"
[2015-03-25 15:18:38] * Bookwright "I would hold onto that knowledge with all the strength I can wrest from my limbs, all the power I can wring from my brain and my horn! I cannot knowingly change history, but knowing history I can help to change the future and prevent a repeat of past mistakes!"
[2015-03-25 15:18:57] * Shatara steps back from the bubbling feud with a bit of a cough, turning to Jugeote. "So uh...what do you do on your ship...?"
[2015-03-25 15:19:31] * Bookwright snorts and exhales slowly. "...I'm sorry. I've gotten carried away. I shouldn't have made that remark. I know it's painful for you, Noble Heart."
[2015-03-25 15:20:50] * Mwana 3follows Golden_Dream.  Looks towards Jugeote and Shatara.
[2015-03-25 15:21:28] <Mwana> 3Jugeote asks Shatara, "My role?  Or to pass the time?"
[2015-03-25 15:23:52] * Noble_Heart glares at Bookwright and scowls. "You cannot change history. No one can. But you can prevent the worst mistakes ever made from surfacing again. I will not repeat the mistakes of the past. I will not LET them be repeated." She straigthens up and takes a deep breath at Bookwright's apology, slowly letting it out. "We are fine." She definitely didn't -sound- fine.
[2015-03-25 15:26:11] * Shatara kind of absently wanders after Mwana and Goldie. "Both, I guess?"
[2015-03-25 15:26:49] * Golden_Dream winces. Usually, she'd join the shouting match, but between being embarrassed and trying to set up a good face in front of her... Good friend, she kind of got caught on her back hoof. "Um. Hey, uh. You're... Gonna need some context there."
[2015-03-25 15:37:12] <Mwana> 3Jugeote says, "I'm usually the face-mare for dealing with anyone who isn't another pirate.  Or the council.  I know griffin, so I get to deal with foreigners.  Mostly, that means trade with griffins, which happens maybe once a year."
[2015-03-25 15:38:47] * Shatara nods a little and hesitates a moment. "...what are they like?"
[2015-03-25 15:40:01] * Golden_Dream rubs the back of her mane. "So, uh. You ever run into any purple-rainbow lookin' stuff what turns people int' walkin' tumors?" Hey, the stuff tends to find it's way everywhere.
[2015-03-25 15:41:41] <Mwana> 3Jugeote notes, "Also get put on any party infiltrating the Empire."  At Shatara's question, she pauses.  "The griffins of Nouveau Nid?  They're... noble, you could say.  Also, arrogant.  You learn how to deal with them."
[2015-03-25 15:43:13] <Mwana> 3Mwana answers Golden_Dream, "I can't say that I have.  Is that the 'Rainbow Connection'?"
[2015-03-25 15:44:49] * Noble_Heart scowls a few more moments at Bookwright before finally properly straightening up and turning to depart the ship. She seemed lost in thought about something, swishing her tail in annoyance.
[2015-03-25 15:44:56] * Golden_Dream winces. "... No, that's why Noble here's really not takin' shit from Bookie. Basically, you ever wonder why it is that she's got horns and wings and is three times bigger 'n us?"
[2015-03-25 15:50:06] * Shatara nods again. "I see...how does the infiltrating go?"
[2015-03-25 15:50:58] <Mwana> 3Jugeote grins, "More often than not?  Exciting.  At least, whenever Imperial soldiers get involved."
[2015-03-25 15:51:39] * Shatara chuckles. "The joys of being shot at..."

[2015-03-25 15:55:25] * Bookwright "It's a sad and sordid /history/" —Here, Bookwright places special emphasis on the word— "–That actually dates back to the last months of the war, and grew into something that came to threaten Equestria. Noble Heart, and Copycat, did not choose to become like they were. They were made that way, by that horrible goo. The self-proclaimed 'Goddess' who wroght her and her sisters is gone now,...
[2015-03-25 15:55:25] * Bookwright ...but her creations, the alicorns, remain."
[2015-03-25 15:58:00] <Bookwright> "The goop itself is best thought of as a horrible mutagenic alchemic-slash-magic serum. It tends to cause immediate horrible mutation. If you've never encountered any, consider yourself lucky."

ACTION pouts a little, then points at Mwana. "Y'know, y'all are a lot better and calmer than I would be in th' situation." She elaborates. "He ain't... Wrong. But he's kinda bein' a dick about it. Basically, what happened was that they was normal ponies, and then they got dunked in this stuff. And when that happened, they got mindfucked t' th' point where every one was completely in control a' this monster what tried t' make /everyon
[2015-03-25 16:00:55] * Noble_Heart frowned as she walked not too far away. Close enough to catch bits of the conversation. The description of it seemed to weigh especially hard on her. Particularly the bit about choices and the description of the goo. "It was an alchemical creation, based upon the magic of the zebras and the alchemy they used to enhance their troops. But far, far more powerful and fundamental."
[2015-03-25 16:00:56] * Noble_Heart She frowned heavily at that and flattened her ears.
[2015-03-25 16:01:12] * Golden_Dream everyone/ like that in th' name 'a 'unity'. But this stuff don't work right in th' wrong kinda doses. Y' get too little, y' get tumors an' die. Too much... Y'don't wanna know." She snuck a look at Noble, with sincerity and not a small amount of pity. "
[2015-03-25 16:02:25] <Mwana> 3Jugeote notes, "Hardest part of infiltration, really, is playing along.  Acting the happy citizen zebra.  There are folks who you can work with inside to smuggle in or out what's needed.  But they're getting fewer and fewer each week."

"So she's been mindfucked fer' over two hundred year t' th' point where she's completely aware of th' horrible stuff she did, but had no control o' her body t' stop it. And that's on top a' feelin'... You know. Bones reshapin', organs swellin' out, muscle breakin' t make room. Prolly th' most pain y' could feel."
[2015-03-25 16:04:49] * Mwana 3notes, "Sorry if I seem calm.  Really don't have much reference for what should be normal ponies and what are mutated monster ponies.  Noble_Heart behaves pretty much normal.  CopyCat is weird, but I've known weirder."
[2015-03-25 16:05:52] * Noble_Heart looks down to Mwana. "We are not monsters. Though the one who created Us certainly was. She is now long dead. But We would sooner die then see another attempt to take her place. Others..." she trails off and shakes her head, scowling at the thought of something.
[2015-03-25 16:06:14] * Mwana 3looks to Noble_Heart.  "I'm glad you're okay.  ... that is, I'm glad you got enough, but not too much."
[2015-03-25 16:06:36] * Bookwright shivers. "Noble Heart and Copycat are what happens when everything turns out perfectly. When everything doesn't, which is more than nine times out of ten, the victim dies, or suffers a fate worse than death. Imagine a slime mold. Now imagine that slime mold used to be a pony, and you have some idea of what taint can do."
[2015-03-25 16:07:35] * Noble_Heart shakes her head. "Dosage is only part of the problem. And attempting to recreate it without the other problems solved." She shuddered slightly, her wings ruffling. "Ponies have made many mistakes. Out of pride. Out of fear. Out of sorrow. Out of desire. That is a mistake which should never, ever be made again."
[2015-03-25 16:09:22] * Bookwright "Noble Heart and I have differing views on how to prevent this from ever happening again. But we both agree that we won't let history repeat itself like that, not if we can help it."

[2015-03-25 16:11:23] * Noble_Heart frowns. "In some ways, yes. We would rather see th knowledge of how to make such things erased. That the memories of those who made such a disaster possible be burried and forgotten. He," she glanced towards Bookwright, "would prefer to document it all. To write it all down so that it would be known to all."
[2015-03-25 16:12:50] * Bookwright "Or at least, known to those who would learn it and aim to prevent the repetition of atrocity."
[2015-03-25 16:19:57] <Mwana> 3Jugeote tells Shatara, "You'd be surprised at the things you can sneak by during the daily loves so long as an Imperial guard doesn't spot you."

[2015-03-25 16:22:24] <Mwana> 3Jugeote nods.  "Three times a day, like clockwork.  Every citizen of the Empire stops what they are doing, bows their heads, closes their eyes, and concentrates on just how much they love their family, their neighbors, their nation and the Caesar.  In that order."

There's two ways to make sure folks don't hurt each other, either they forget why they're hurt, or they forgive them folk what hurt 'em. Doesn't matter though, neither are gonna happen. We're damned t' have another apocalypse in th' future, 'cause of how bitterness tends t' spread." She goes quiet for a moment.
[2015-03-25 16:30:19] * Golden_Dream then adds to Jugeote, "That's fuckin' stupid."
[2015-03-25 16:33:35] * Get_Lost "i'm pretty sure that lve can drive them away... still, either the roamans are stupid as b ricks, or the wendigos were driven away in a different manner"

They come to wherever folks are most desperate and, by their presence, make their lives even more and more desperate. They need that t' live. We fought 'em, but it wasn't love what killed 'em. It was hope."

[2015-03-25 16:37:14] * Noble_Heart frowns and contemplates that. "We are not certain if that is true. But certainly they are spirits of conflict. If the zebras of Roam are uniting everyone, they would be driven out. It disturbs Us more about... How. And why. Especially that." she shudders slightly at the prospect.

[2015-03-25 16:39:12] * Get_Lost "well, large scale brainwashing can be attained in seversal ways.... the easier one is chemical, but i think you could also play with brainwaves..."
[2015-03-25 16:41:28] * Get_Lost "i read somewhere that solaris had somesort of branch working on that, but it probably backfired"
[2015-03-25 16:41:40] * Bookwright "Outright propaganda is the most effective though. If you get them to believe with their hearts and minds, that trumps any kind of artificial brainwashing."

[2015-03-25 16:43:42] * Noble_Heart shakes her head. "What worries Us is this... Time of concentrating on love. It reminds Us of the magic of the Crystal Kingdom." she scowls, contemplating more.

[2015-03-25 16:46:48] * Get_Lost "maybe it is some sort of collective ritual? like the one we performed at the temple"
[2015-03-25 16:48:13] * Noble_Heart furrows her brow. "Or perhaps they have found a powerful Spirit of Love that requires such a ritual to maintain its blessing upon the Caesar."

[2015-03-25 16:49:36] * Get_Lost thinks "could it be possible.... that cadence is somehow involved?"
[2015-03-25 16:50:03] * Noble_Heart frowns. "It is not impossible, We suppose. Though it seems unlikely." she shakes her head. "More likely that this is some form of Zebra magic, not pony magic."

[2015-03-25 17:51:22] * Bookwright "Somehow I don't think it's going to be that easy to get into Roam. There's a reason whoever it was intercepted Ditzy Doo and took her Element. I can't imagine it's a good one."
