  2. [12/11/30 20:20:27]<Waak|Overcolt> Our group of wandering heroes had encountered a small outpost belonging to Quality Trading Co - traders, who sold anything. After the ponies - and a buffalo - inside the church-turned-outpost had finished their shopping, a cream-coated mare with purple mane, wearing QTC apparel approached the shoppers.
  3. [12/11/30 20:22:05]? Silky_Shackles tips her hat to the mare. "Hello. Can I help you?"
  4. [12/11/30 20:22:56]? Gearhead glances towards the mare. "Hello." She says, nodding with Silky
  5. [12/11/30 20:23:14]<Waak|Overcolt> "Director Cuffs would like to see you in his chambers, it's quite important," she tells to Silky_Shackles and Gearhead. "Bring your friends with you, if you may." The mare turns around and walks back where she came from, through the gates to the garrison area.
  6. [12/11/30 20:23:46]? Kichaka eyes the mare as she leaves. "This cant be good."
  7. [12/11/30 20:24:26]? Silky_Shackles raises an eyebrow. "Hardly. What could it be?"
  8. [12/11/30 20:24:41]<Gearhead> "Who is Director Cuffs?" Gearhead asks, looking for Screw-Loose. "Screw, we have been summoned to the company of somepony named Director Cuffs."
  9. [12/11/30 20:24:53]? Screw-Loose hums pleasantly as the mare walks away, not caring about the world.
  10. [12/11/30 20:25:01]? Bro-Hoofs-a-Bear raises an eyebrow "My question is. Why us?
  11. [12/11/30 20:25:48]? Silky_Shackles ponders. "We are new in the region."
  12. [12/11/30 20:27:24]<Silky_Shackles> "Let's gather everypony." She says, trotting away and nodding her slaves to come along.
  13. [12/11/30 20:27:29]? Kichaka pouts. "Which means nopony will worry if we disappear"
  14. [12/11/30 20:27:46]? Gearhead nods. "Perhaps they have noticed how... odd we seem?" She says, trotting towards the door.
  15. [12/11/30 20:28:05]? Bro-Hoofs-a-Bear sighs at Kichaka "Must you always be negative?"
  16. [12/11/30 20:29:40]? Silky_Shackles trots into the dinner. "Comet, dear?"
  17. [12/11/30 20:30:08]? Kichaka pretends not to hear Brohoof and trots after Silky
  18. [12/11/30 20:32:45]? Bro-Hoofs-a-Bear waits patently for the others
  19. [12/11/30 20:34:09]? Silky_Shackles trots closer. "Comet?"
  20. [12/11/30 20:34:59]? Screw-Loose trots with the rest, pondering things no sane pony would ever ponder.
  21. [12/11/30 20:35:08]? Comet_Blaze snorts a little as she picks her head out of one of the old freezers and looks towards the door. Her gaze less than happy. "Silky? You finished..?" Trotting back towards the doorway slowly.
  22. [12/11/30 20:36:26]<Silky_Shackles> "Yes, but it seems the leader of those traders want to talk to us." She tilts her head. "Is something wrong?"
  23. [12/11/30 20:37:31]? Comet_Blaze frowns and glances back towards the empty fridges. "Irritated that this place didn't have anything useful in it. But mostly annoyed that you all seem perfectly okay with giving away good money to slavers."
  24. [12/11/30 20:40:21]<Gearhead> "Why would we not?"
  25. [12/11/30 20:40:37]<Gearhead> "They gave us supplies for that money."
  26. [12/11/30 20:41:56]? Comet_Blaze frowns and glares at Gearhead. "And what do you think they're going to -do- with that money? Use it to buy weapons and machinery to hunt down and enslave more ponies!" She shook her head. "That's not right. I don't care how messed up the surface is. Ponies aren't property."
  27. [12/11/30 20:42:30]<Gearhead> "What makes you think that? Have you somehow come across their plans?"
  28. [12/11/30 20:42:56]? Kichaka glances between the taller equines, stricken at the growing rift.
  29. [12/11/30 20:43:39]? Silky_Shackles sighs, shaking her head. "Gearhead, dear, don't bother. I know how it goes. Let's just see what they want from us." She looks back at Comet_Blaze. "Shall we?"
  30. [12/11/30 20:43:44]<Gearhead> "We have no take on what they will do. As they are not enslaving us, and if they do, then and only then will I attempt to do something. For without this group, I amd logically more likely to die."
  31. [12/11/30 20:45:53]? Comet_Blaze raises a forehoof with a snort, poking Gearhead's chest. "They make money by selling slaves. Yes? And you cannot sell something you do not have. Yes? As they continue to get new slaves to sell, they must have a source for those slaves, correct?" She shook her head. "Then, by extension, they must be using some of the money they recieve to purchase or trap new slaves. If purchased, someone
  32. [12/11/30 20:45:53]? Comet_Blaze else must be trapping or breeding slaves for sale before being resold here. In either case, the money flows back to those who are enslaving others." She glares back towards Silky. "I'll come, if it means that much to you. But I make no guarantees I'll actually do what they ask. I don't like working for someone who'd treat another pony like they were a thing to be bought and sold."
  33. [12/11/30 20:47:12]<Gearhead> She nods. "I accept your logic, and I apprciate you using it to explain why you are so angry about this. It does not sway my opinion, but I thank you."
  34. [12/11/30 20:48:54]? Silky_Shackles opens her mouth, revolted, but just closes it back again. She adjusts her hat. "Let's just go, but please, don't go try to do anything 'heroic'." She turns to the door. "We all know how well that would go."
  35. [12/11/30 20:50:33]? Gearhead nods and moves behind Silky_Shackles
  36. [12/11/30 20:50:48]? Comet_Blaze quietly simmers and follows after the pair, staying some distance behind.
  37. [12/11/30 20:51:11]? Bro-Hoofs-a-Bear follows after the others as they move on
  38. [12/11/30 20:51:18]? Screw-Loose continues to think of things, wonderful and horrible things.
  39. [12/11/30 20:52:49]? Silky_Shackles follows back into the church, towards the Director's facilities.
  40. [12/11/30 20:53:49]? Gearhead turns to Screw-Loose. "What are you thinking about?" She asks.
  41. [12/11/30 20:54:40]? Kichaka sighs and trots after them
  42. [12/11/30 20:56:36]<Waak|Overcolt> The group walks through the church, heading towards the barracks gates through which the mare had gone - one of the two guarding ponies, a mare with QTC armour without the helmet, tells them "Ah, you're the fellows the Director wants to see... go on, turn right after the gates, through the South Wing door."
  43. [12/11/30 20:57:37]? Comet_Blaze stays well away from the guards and gives a brief glance at the ponies, and others, in the cages as they pass through the church. She frowned a moment before pulling her hood up and doing her best to ignore it. Much as she would love to go on a roaring rampage of abolition, right now was not a good time considering the many armed guards.

  45. [12/11/30 20:59:47]? Silky_Shackles tips her hat to the mare, walking along the path. She glances back at Comet_Blaze every now and then. She was part of the group, but who knows what she could do.

  49. [12/11/30 21:01:19]? Screw-Loose laughs. "I was thinking of how I was going to build a death ray, one so powerful as to make even Balefire look like naught but a small bang."

  51. [12/11/30 21:02:48]<Gearhead> "Any ideas?" She asks, actually curious.
  52. [12/11/30 21:04:37]? Silky_Shackles blinks looking back at Gearhead. "She can't- what?! No! Stop you two. Why would anypony even want something like that?"
  53. [12/11/30 21:04:43]? Screw-Loose stares at the sky dreamily. "Well first I had thought of detonating a Balefire bomb and using the energy to make a beam, but alas to inefficient. So then I scaled it up. The sun seems like a perfectly reasonable energy source after all."
  54. [12/11/30 21:05:13]? Bro-Hoofs-a-Bear "I think we lost her Silky"
  55. [12/11/30 21:05:26]<Gearhead> "It is a very good one." She looks towards Silky_Shackles and sighs, moving up and whispering to her.
  56. [12/11/30 21:05:32]? Comet_Blaze shakes her head, groaning a few moments. "Ponies with no sense of scale..." She mutters quietly under her breath.
  57. [12/11/30 21:06:14]<Waak|Overcolt> As the group walks through the door - clearly marked as "Director's office" by some blue paint - they enter what's left of the Southern wing of the church. The windows have been covered from the outside by rubble, so the glasswork is visible, and walls have been restored somewhat.   61. [12/11/30 21:07:16]? Screw-Loose continues on. "From there though I had another idea. why not take the sun and compress it, make it smaller, make it denser, make it into a hoof sized power source. The power of the sun with in my hooves!"
  62. [12/11/30 21:08:53]<Waak|Overcolt> Behind the other desk is a stallion of light blue coat and dark blue mane, his coat colour matching that of the apparel of QTC he's wearing. He raises his head from the paperwork in front of him to notice the group entering.

  66. [12/11/30 21:11:08]? Gearhead raises an eyebrow at the pony talking to the group. "What job?" She asks, turning her attention to Screw-Loose. "Well, How would you go about that?"
  67. [12/11/30 21:11:14]? Comet_Blaze sticks close to Kichaka, listening to what the boss had to say.
  68. [12/11/30 21:12:25]? Kichaka twitches as the stallion mentions a job. She was right, this wasnt good. Not at all.

  70. [12/11/30 21:12:58]<Waak|Overcolt> The stallion stands up and circles to the left side of his desk. "You see, this outpost is quite new. Hardly anything of worth, and there's hardly anything that could make a name for myself in the eyes of other Directors in Trampleton. Except one thing - the factory in this town."

  72. [12/11/30 21:14:37]? Silky_Shackles ponders. "Why is the factory so important?"
  73. [12/11/30 21:14:58]? Screw-Loose thinks. "I don't know, maybe build an arcane cage utilising Balefire as a power source then capture the sun inside an Arcane Stabilization field and proceed to shrink it?" Screw-Loose hums. "I honestly have no idea, that's why I want to try!"
  74. [12/11/30 21:15:01]? Comet_Blaze frowns and looks to Bro-Hoof. "I think he wants the factory." It wasn't exactly a hard leap to make. After all, that was why they came to town to begin with.

  76. [12/11/30 21:17:02]<Gearhead> "I think that is very likely improbable that you can succeed in that Screw, but I will not stop you."
  77. [12/11/30 21:17:37]? Kichaka sits back and mutters to herself
  78. [12/11/30 21:17:44]? Silky_Shackles nods. "Do you mind if I discuss it with my companions beforehand?"
  79. [12/11/30 21:18:28]<Waak|Overcolt> The stallion leans to his desk. "No, I do not mind, but I suggest you make it quick."
  80. [12/11/30 21:19:41]? Silky_Shackles tips her hat, turning away and trotting out of his room.

  82. [12/11/30 21:19:56]? Comet_Blaze frowns and folds her ears back underneath her hood, more than a little painful considering the state of one of them, but that wasn't going to dissuade her from her annoyance. She gave the stallion a brief death glare before moving after Silky, holding her tongue to avoid simply saying 'no' right at that moment.

  86. [12/11/30 21:33:40]? Silky_Shackles turns back to the ponies (and zebra, and buffalo), tapping her hooves together, little at ease. "So, we can't just hand over the factory, that's for sure. Well, well. What a pickle."

  95. [12/11/30 21:39:09]? Screw-Loose half listens in on the conversation. "Wouldn't it be bad for ponies if they can just make caps? Doesn't that mean they can go out and destroy every other cities economy without even trying?"
  96. [12/11/30 21:39:29]? Silky_Shackles waves a hoof at, startled. "No, no! Do you have any idea what they would do to us. That buck is not one to play around." She shakes her head at Bro, then turns to Kichaka. "Not at all. If they don't have a way of living, they will be turning raiders next week... if they aren't already."

  98. [12/11/30 21:42:31]? Silky_Shackles looks down, rubbing her chin. "I wonder if there is something else they could want..."

  105. [12/11/30 21:52:46]? Comet_Blaze snorts a few moments and shakes her head. "There's still resource costs and limitations on raw materials which would limit how many caps they could make. Not that it matters." She looks back to Silky with a glare. "We're not doing it."

  111. [12/11/30 21:55:10]? Comet_Blaze shakes her head to Bro, "The cap machine is needed if we're going to make the plant work again anyway. Crimson and her people need something valuable. And the soda is worth far mor than the single cap it's topped with."

  113. [12/11/30 21:55:52]? Comet_Blaze taps her chin thoughtfully. "The more important question is how do we stop them from taking the factory once we leave? I don't want one gift to end in a war." She snorts, shuffling a forehoof in annoyance.

  115. [12/11/30 21:58:58]? Comet_Blaze snorts at that idea. "Not enough resources, time or energy to do it right now." She shook her head and gave an irritated huff. "Well, we can't do much here. We'll have to see what the factory has in it. Maybe it's got some robotic guards shut down somewhere. A lot of industrial places had them. Might be enough to dissuade anyone from attacking."

Which would mean they'd lack the power to take it from some other established group setting up there either..."

"Or it's possible whatever lives in the ruins has a thing for legs in specific and they're just trying to save caps." She gave a brief glance around at the surrounding ponies and guards before returning to the group. "I think it's more likely they just don't have

  140. [12/11/30 22:12:08]? Screw-Loose shakes her head. "Who knows if it is one or ten groups, but it is likely for a trade company like them to have opposition."

  142. [12/11/30 22:13:08]? Kichaka shrugs, "Works for me." She opens her saddle bags and begins idly rummaging through them. Her stuff is haphazardly jammed in, and flashes of pink can be seen.
  143. [12/11/30 22:13:15]? Silky_Shackles shakes her head. "That would be suspicious, and they must have guards watching us."
  144. [12/11/30 22:13:18]<Bro-Hoofs-a-Bear> "He may try and force us if we just say no"
  145. [12/11/30 22:13:29]? Comet_Blaze nods to Bro-Hoofs. "Much as I'd enjoy giving him a piece of my mind over the nature of his business here," she gave another glance back towards the cages, "I don't think he'll be happy or peaceful if we just say no."
  146. [12/11/30 22:14:01]<Gearhead> "Why have guards on Cannon Fodder?"
  147. [12/11/30 22:14:15]? Silky_Shackles shrugs. "Why would he expect random travellers to do his bidding?"
  148. [12/11/30 22:16:18]<Gearhead> "So why do we just not leave?" She asks. "Honestly, I feel it isnt a bad idea."
  149. [12/11/30 22:16:21]<Waak|Overcolt> The cream-coloured mare opens the door to the Director's office, looking at the group. "The Director would like to have an answer now."
  150. [12/11/30 22:17:25]? Bro-Hoofs-a-Bear "Lets just leave"
  151. [12/11/30 22:17:26]? Comet_Blaze frowns and shakes her head, looking up at the cream-coloured mare. She steps forwards and gives probably the most succinct answer in history: "No." Before turning to head towards the door outside, sparing a brief glance towards the cages again. Definitely have to do something about this place eventually, but one problem at a time.

  158. [12/11/30 22:25:38]? Silky_Shackles approaches Gearhead as they make their way out of the trading building. "Gear, would you mind helping me with something?"
  159. [12/11/30 22:26:26]? Comet_Blaze keeps an eye on Silky and her recent living 'acquisitions' as they head out. Not a happy pony right now.

  161. [12/11/30 22:27:59]<Waak|Overcolt> As the group walks through the church, they can hear some chit-chatting between QTC members - one appears to be about a recent New Unicornia raid at Steel Ranger outpost in Trampleton, and other about disagreements in the upper management of QTC.
  162. [12/11/30 22:29:43]? Silky_Shackles pulls the collars out of her saddlebags. "I need these jagged bits filed off." She points at the metal protrusion from the collars. "I'd do it, but you have a hoof for these things, so I'd be grateful if you could help me."

The red brick building is three floors high, its windows blocked by something from the inside. There's two entrances - a garage door to main hall or a normal door to what is labeled as "Cafeteria"
  168. [12/11/30 22:38:48]? Comet_Blaze spreads her wings, taking a moment to rise into the air and circle the building. Heading towards the roof to get a look from above. There might be nothing up there, but there might be a better entrance. Maybe an old fire escape she could let down for the others.

  170. [12/11/30 22:42:41]? Comet_Blaze taps her chin, before turning around in the air and swooping back down to the group. "Got another entrance on the roof. I could take Kichaka up there. But no way I could carry everyone else." She glances towards Bro-Hoof. "Er, no offense."

  172. [12/11/30 22:45:43]? Screw-Loose looks at the building. "If there were robots in the building, we should find them first and use them to clear the building."
  173. [12/11/30 22:45:47]? Comet_Blaze shakes her head. "No reason. Just thought I'd check. Might be safer up there. or whatever lives here might be nesting up there." She looks towards the roof, before beating her wings once. "Plus it feels good to be in the air."

We'll meet somewhere in the middle. Sound good?" She barely even gave the others a chance to respond before moving to help Kichaka onto her back and taking to the air.

  184. [12/11/30 22:58:17]<Waak|Overcolt> Comet_Blaze has made her way to the roof, and Silky's normal voice don't carry to her ears.
  185. [12/11/30 22:58:31]? Bro-Hoofs-a-Bear takes out his shotgun and racks it "Lets get this over with" and begins to trot up to the door

  188. [12/11/30 23:05:36]<Waak|Overcolt> The rest of the group bound to the ground trots to the warehouse door and opens it - they enter into, well, a warehouse, covered in massive cobwebs. Lots of crates of Sparkle~Cola litter the floor and shelves.
  189. [12/11/30 23:06:52]<Waak|Overcolt> There are two doors out of this room - the one they came in through, and another at the back, leading to the manufactory floor.

They are heavy, but without the jagged edges they are not as uncomfortable as the legs tied together. She then unties their legs and smiles. "There, now keep an eye out for anything. If the spiders appear, stay behind me."

  249. [12/12/01 00:24:28]<Waak|Overcolt> While the spider after Screw-Loose misses its target, Gearhead gets bitten at the armour, thus not taking damage. Silky_Shackels, however, gets bitten to the back through her armour quite badly.

  297. [12/12/01 01:59:18]? Kichaka just sits there looking squeamish, her cloak drawn tight around her
  298. [12/12/01 02:00:01]? Screw-Loose enters the room, gets the idea and begins using her rifle to burn the eggs.
  299. [12/12/01 02:00:25]? Gearhead looks at the eggs and backs the fuck up.
  300. [12/12/01 02:01:19]? Bro-Hoofs-a-Bear comes into the room and takes a good look around "This looks ominous"
  301. [12/12/01 02:02:33]? Comet_Blaze pauses in her destruction of eggs long enough to wave to the others as they show up. Looking surprisingly pleased with herself so far. "'s not, get smashin'." Returning to breaking eggs.
  302. [12/12/01 02:03:53]? Silky_Shackles rubs her chin and looks back. "I have an idea." She shouts downstairs. "Hey, you two, it's safe up here. Come here and bring me some cobwebs!"
  303. [12/12/01 02:03:59]? Bro-Hoofs-a-Bear ponds for a moment "I wonder if these could be eaten? Our friends at the lighthouse could use the food"

  308. [12/12/01 02:05:52]<Gearhead> She comes back in, wiping her mouth. "Thats Disgusting! Who in their right mind would eat these eggs!?"
  309. [12/12/01 02:07:02]<Bro-Hoofs-a-Bear> "The hungry. And I don't know if it is safe. Maybe one of the mad scientist could find out for us"
  310. [12/12/01 02:07:22]<Waak|Overcolt> This is where we leave the heroes of our adventure - after successfully clearing a factory of the pests it inhabitated. They had turned down an offer to get payed for it in order to give a group of ponies a chance of "civil" living. Tune in next time for more!
