  4. The Daily Dot has, by featuring and hosting Hector "Sabu" Monsegur, shown that it has no interest in being a serious platform for journalism. Not only have they done this once but twice and they will probably do this more unless we voice our concern. The Daily Dot has taken a great step in becoming simply another platform for Hector "Sabu" Monsegur and his "puppeeter" (The FBI) to manipulate and disseminate lies. We all have to remember that even at his best, Sabu wasn't a hacker, he was a social engineer. "Sabu" manipulated people into pulling off hacks that he did not have the technical know-how to perform himself. The Daily Dot shows that they care more about ad revenue and "clicks" rather than being a serious outlet for journalism, thereby tarnishing the very life-blood of the journalistic endeavour. That means we just have to take that away and show them that it is really hard to make money off of the internet if the children that grew up with it hates your guts.

  6. But does Hector "Sabu" Monsegur earn any money off of his shenanigans hosted by the DailyDot? We asked them.
  7. Actual conversation with the DailyDot:

  10. <DailyDotEmployee> ok, i can say this: i'm not allowed to say exact specifics of how he came to write the story. but he didn't file an invoice, we have no on-going contract with him, and he's not a daily dot employee.

  13. <DailyDotEmployee> i'm sure they'll say the same thing(talking about his editor). look, i'm very aware of the grief he caused. i just want you to know that this isn't, say, an endorsement of sabu. but we run all kinds of perspectives. i got a guy to write a really eloquent condemnation of snowden, for instance, which i personally don't agree with. it's just part of being an open publication http://www.dailydot.com/opinion/snowden-fair-trial-defense-moss/
  14. <ANONYMOUS>but did that guy earn any money off of it?
  15. <ANONYMOUS>and
  16. <ANONYMOUS>did sabu earn any money off of his story?
  17. <DailyDotEmployee> for both cases: i'm not allowed or authorized to talk about specific arrangements, i'm sorry.

  52. I <Enter Name> have decided that I will no longer be purchasing any products from your company Best Buy. I have recently learned that you advertise with the online newspaper company, DailyDot. DailyDot has recently employed a convicted hacker and FBI informant Hector Xavier Monsegur that was responsible for the identity theft of hundred's of thousands of people. He leaked thousands of consumers credit card numbers and encouraged people to committ acts of violence against the police. The fact that DailyDot would choose to employ this type of criminal is dispicable and the fact that Best Buy chooses to advertise with this company, The DailyDot is considerably worse. I have spent a great amount of money purchasing products from your store, both online and in the actual store, during the holidays and for other special occasions. This email is to let your company know, that I will no longer make any purchases at Best Buy.

  63. I <Enter Name> have decided that I will no longer be purchasing any products from your company American Apparel. I have recently learned that you advertise with the online newspaper company, DailyDot. DailyDot has recently employed a convicted hacker and FBI informant Hector Xavier Monsegur who was responsible for the entrapment and persecution of many activists. He also was responsible for the identity theft of hundred's of thousands of people. He leaked thousands of consumers' credit card numbers and encouraged people to commit acts of violence against the police. I find it hypocritical that your comapny has a "Political Activism" webpage selling merchandise(http://www.americanapparel.net/aboutus/political/), but you support the entrapment of political activists. The fact that DailyDot would choose to employ this type of criminal is dispicable and the fact that American Apparel chooses to advertise with this company, The DailyDot, is considerably worse. Not only will I not be purchasing any of your products but I will also be actively enagaged in letting the public know that you support a company that employs FBI informants and convicted felons. Thank you.
