  1. >You run.
  2. >You run as fast as your little hooves are able to.
  3. >You don't dare to look back, but you are sure they are still chasing you.
  4. >The great amount of heat coming your way proves this theory.
  5. >You make a sharp left and continue down the narrow alleys.
  6. >This should work for the best.
  7. >They will have to come one by one and just from behind.
  8. >But it's never that easy, right?
  9. >Just now you realize your mistake, one of many at least.
  10. >An alley would be the most obvious place for her to place her traps.
  11. >Before you can even read it, the graffiti on the wall explodes in a bright flash of red.
  12. >You think it may have said "Hawaii in the Streets", but you may be wrong on that one.
  13. >Wouldn't be the first time today.
  14. >You are launched towards a wall, where a trash can softens the crash as much as it can.
  15. >It hurts your wings, and you wince in pain.
  16. >Just then, you decide to open your eyes.
  17. >That was yet another mistake.
  18. >You can't help but yelp at the sight.
  19. >From the sparks caused by the explosion emerged a pair of wolves made out of fire.
  20. >Now you are surrounded.
  21. >You should have known.
  22. >A mistake like you had no chance of escaping his grasp.
  23. >With a boop on your nose you become aware that he is here.
  24. >You instantly freeze in fear.
  25. >"See little pony, I told you it is futile to get away."
  26. >He eyes your forehead in a way that makes you feel uncomfortable.
  27. >Not like what you have there will make spells happen.
  28. >You've already failed at that too.
  29. >"I've got plans for you, so don't be getting any funny ideas."
  30. >He gives the wolves an order and they begin to escort you back to the city.
  31. >This is the place where you realized you weren't needed.
  32. >This is where danger looms in every corner.
  33. >This is...
  34.
  35. "This is horse dung." you say matter-of-factly.
  36. >https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JvqMvxdZTVE
  37. >Lyra is just giggling like a little filly, humming something for herself.
  38. >"Come on, you got to admit it is amusing in its own way!" she says while dancing her way into the city, jumping on puddles while shaking her plot.
  39. >…And splashing your face while doing so.
  40. >Leave it to her to find joy in such a dire situation.
  41. >You follow glumly not too far behind.
  42. >She spins and leaps on her hind hooves, while admiring the bizarreness around her.
  43. >”This dimension’s air isn’t harmful!” she jumps and spins, “ the water and minerals are all the same as in Equestria,” she lands and slides while bobbing her head, “ and yet the flora and fauna are completely different. Isn’t it fascinating Bonnie?”
  44. >She raises her front hooves and waves towards a flower with whiskers licking its stems.
  45. “It’s terrifying.”
  46. >She either doesn’t hear you or doesn’t care.
  47. >She continues to bounce forward with sparkles in her eyes.
  48. >Moontrotting while waving to a bunch of rats.
  49. >They don’t react at her antics.
  50. >You pass by them and they hiss.
  51. >You hiss back and they scatter away.
  52. >You hurry towards Lyra.
  53. “Rats shouldn’t have cannons on their back.” You grump out loud.
  54. >You’d rather be… anywhere than here, but you know that is no longer an option.
  55. >It wasn’t even two hours ago when you were baking your problems away at home.
  56. >You had spent a great deal of time perfecting your soufflé, and with meticulous care you were getting it out of the oven when someone came into the kitchen.
  57. >On any other day, you would have listened to Lyra inquire how long it would take until it was ready and you would have scolded her saying that only patient fillies get to eat.
  58. >Instead, somepony broke your hind legs in a single swift movement.
  59. >Remembering it still leaves you with a nightmarish feeling of sudden confusion and then despair.
  60.
  61. >You picture yourself falling back, barely hearing the cracks of your legs crashing in the form of ice shards.
  62. >And of course, the scalding soufflé falling on your muzzle.
  63. >Fuck those ECR ponies.
  64. >That chestnut bastard looked similar to the other time, but he wasn’t the same pony.
  65. >Looking older and having a different ability confirm this, although at the moment you weren’t fully aware of all those details.
  66. >”I’ve dealt with the first one, “ he said to a device around his neck “expecting the second one in T minus 3, 2, 1…”
  67. >The door to the kitchen was opened by Lyra, coming in with her eyes closed guided by the sweet scent of dessert.
  68. >”That smells good, how long will it take for…” she took notice of your body broken to pieces and the culprit standing on top of you.
  69. >Her breathing began to hasten.
  70. >Up until that moment, you have never seen Lyra get really angry.
  71. >Upset, annoyed and even peeved that one time.
  72. >But never like this.
  73. >She was beyond livid.
  74. >”What have you done to my Bonnie!” she screamed, her face twisted with anger and her eyes tearing up.
  75. >With no hesitation she charged to the assailant.
  76. >Of course, this was their plan all along.
  77. >The best way to deal with a unicorn is to make it unable to use magic. That’s what they taught you way back in your training days.
  78. >And these guys had already thought out the best way to deal with her.
  79. >Lyra’s body came to a sudden stop, and then she fell sideways.
  80. >The air behind her began to distort, a horn came into view and soon after the blue unicorn appeared with a ghostly looking insect hovering around her.
  81. >”The second one has been incapacitated.” The blue one speaks to her device, “both are unable to make contact. You may come in.”
  82.
  83. >On cue, a new uninvited guest entered your kitchen.
  84. >He looked similar to the chestnut one although wearing an off-white safari jacket, a plain white shirt with a red paisley tie, a yellow pullover with red question marks and blue zigzagging patterns and a white panama hat.
  85. >”Well ain’t that a shame, there is nothing I hate more than a good meal getting spoilt.” He said while walking towards his companions.
  86. >”No need to get up young fillies, we can make ourselves comfortable on our own.”
  87. >With a jump he sat on your table and began to play with a pair of spoons.
  88. >”I suppose we don’t really need an introduction, we know all about your last meeting with the ECR.”
  89. >The room filled with the echo of spoons clanking on each other and a tense rumble.
  90. >”And we know of course of the pony you were in cahoots with then, and let me tell you he wasn’t easy to find.”
  91. >You seriously wanted to scream “He wasn’t with us!”, “It was his entire fault in the first place!”, “Fuck that motherbucker!”.
  92. >But you only managed to gurgle and tremble, still in shock.
  93. >”Oh yes, that elusive Domino Fats jumped to our faction’s number one priority when we heard of what he got away with. Since then we have sent a large number of our forces to get him,” he stopped playing with the spoons “but not a single one came back.”
  94. >He stood up and then squatted to your and Lyra’s level.
  95. >”That’s when we decided to change our tactics.”
  96. >With a motion of his hooves, a jade colored aura permeated your body, and your barrel began to open.
  97.
  98. >Pain.
  99. >”We believe that you two might hold a better chance of reaching him, so… let me try to persuade you to help our cause.”
  100. >The chestnut and the blue ponies each took a small silver ring, and carefully placed them on an artery of your then exposed heart.
  101. >Torture.
  102. >”That ring will dissolve in 33 hours, “he explained as they did the same to Lyra, “When that happens a powerful poison will spread through your body and kill you in a fraction of seconds.”
  103. >Panic.
  104. >”We are the only ones with the means of removing them safely, so don’t get any creative ideas.”
  105. >Despair.
  106. >”We will send you to the dimension he is currently in. Get the Residuum from him and place it inside the special container you’ll be provided with, and only then we will get you back to safety.”
  107. >Drowsiness.
  108. >”And don’t forget, you can never escape from the ECR.”
  109. >Everything went black.
  110. >When you came back to your senses, both you and Lyra were in the outskirts of a weird city.
  111. >Your first reaction was to check your body.
  112. >You, and Lyra, were completely unharmed.
  113. >”That sure did ruin our afternoon snack.”
  114. >You didn’t comment on it.
  115. >Your mind was racing analyzing everything that just happened.
  116. >Those ponies were prepared to counter both of your abilities.
  117. >Freezing, paralysis, and a power to disassemble and repair anything.
  118. >They were definitely out of your league, and still couldn’t recover the Residuum from Domino.
  119. >How in Tartarus did they expect you to do it?
  120. >”They gave us free stuff!”
  121. >Only then you noticed there were saddlebags strapped on you.
  122. “I’m sure they only gave them to me because I’m an earth pony.”
  123. >Lyra just laughed and began to empty their contents.
  124.
  125. >Inside them were some bottles of water, a pair of towels, a pocket knife, a pair of scissors, some rope, six cheese sandwiches, a table cloth, needle and thread, binoculars, a pencil, a compass, a small mirror, a magnifying glass, a small jade box with “ECR” written on it, and a toilet roll.
  126. “I can’t tell if they wanted us to go on a picnic or camping”
  127. >”One of those isn’t like the others” commented Lyra while trying to levitate the little box.
  128. >Turns out it was immune to magic.
  129. >”It kinda makes sense if it is supposed to hold the [ROH]”.
  130. >There she went again making acronyms with brackets as if it were something cool.
  131. “Whatever, we better get going. Who knows how long we got before it is too late.”
  132. >”We got thirty-two hours and two seconds.” Said Lyra, while checking a watch strapped on her left hove.
  133. “They gave you a watch and I’m stuck with these heavy bags!?”
  134. >”Thirty-one hours and fifty-nine minutes.”
  135. “Let’s just go.”
  136. >And that’s everything that happened so far.
  137. >…
  138. >Thinking it all at once, it is incredibly stupid.
  139. >”Bonnie! Come here quick!” half-screams, half-whispers Lyra, currently looking from a balcony in the building you decided to explore.
  140. “This better be Domino or I swear to Celestia that-GAH!”
  141. >You cover your muzzle in shock.
  142. “W-w-what are those?!”
  143. >”I know!” says Lyra beaming more than ever, “They are beings spoken only in myths, but I always had a feeling they were real.”
  144. >She makes a dramatic pause.
  145. >”Bonnie, these are real living humans!”
  146.
  147. >Shiiiiiiit.
  148. >Not the humans again.
  149. >You seriously thought she had gotten over that phase.
  150. >She was so absorbed in her own little world that time, that she didn’t know what a mess she was causing.
  151. >Up to this day, she still isn’t allowed back to the Canterlot Archives and, for some reason that mirror room in Princess Twilight’s Castle.
  152. >You can’t deal with this again. Not right now.
  153. >”Oh my gosh, look at them!” she points to the two biped, and really flashy, characters, “They are making so many gestures with their foremost appendages!”
  154. “You mean their claws.”
  155. >You still remember a bit from all those times you doze off while she went on and on about their opposable claw anatomy.
  156. >”Actually, scholars came with the term [Hands] for those, although I myself like to call them [Grabby Grabs].”
  157. >She is sperging out again, just like in the old times.
  158. >”We MUST get closer.”
  159. >Aww, tartarus no.
  160. >You close your eyes and inhale deeply.
  161. “Lyra, let me level with you for a moment. I know you must be feeling ecstatic for finally meeting the creatures you’ve been dreaming about for almost a decade, and yes, I know I was wrong all this time for saying it was all a dumb myth. But I’m a great mare who knows when to admit when she was wrong, so there, you were right and I was wrong all this time, happy? Still, this is not the time to dwell on past experiences. We are currently on a literal race for our lives, so even though I know it must be really hard for you, we should ignore those two and proceed to look for… you probably already left right when I closed my eyes, right?”
  162. >You open your eyes only to find you alone on the balcony.
  163. >…
  164. “This is…”
  165.
  166. “Bullshit.”
  167. >https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=64cvrwzrmhU
  168. >”I’m just saying, you didn’t had to be so mean with them.”
  169. “Are you serious? Those stands wanted to kill us.”
  170. >”What makes you say that?”
  171. “Oh, I dunno. Maybe when a buff bugman and a ghost cowboy come up saying ‘We will destroy you’ it makes me doubt whether or not they have good intentions.”
  172. >Ziggy nods his head in understanding.
  173. >”I see,” he pats your shoulder, “admitting your own shortcomings is the first step towards trusting others.”
  174. >Oh, god.
  175. >He is serious.
  176. “Look Ziggy, you still don’t completely understand the place in which are currently in.”
  177. >You shrug his hand off your shoulder.
  178. “In this place there are running amok from mistake stands, to Wounds or even Requiems.”
  179. >You grab him by the shoulders and look at him straight in his eyes.
  180. “And I can’t use [Made of Stone] at full power while trying to make us stay in this dimension.“
  181. >You emphasize this signaling the pearls floating around you.
  182. “So when a bizarre coffin and a cow lady invite you to ‘have a good time’, you do not go and follow them, kapeesh?”
  183. >Ziggy grins at you.
  184. “What.” You ask flatly.
  185. >”You really haven’t changed.” His grin grows wider, “Even though we are in so much ‘danger’, you are still trying your best to keep me safe. You are a good pal John.”
  186. >You sigh and pinch the bridge of your nose.
  187. >Back when you found out the multiverse lodestone had become fractured, you made it your own task to prevent it from breaking apart and destroying the stability of every reality.
  188. >To be honest, you wanted someone as strong as you to help you, but Anonymous had his hands full protecting Equestria.
  189. >So the next best idea was to recruit some powerful stand users in [Tom`s Diner] or [VA11-HA11A], but with your ability most assumed you were a bad guy.
  190. >You hate when that happens.
  191. >Everyone is quick to jump to conclusions.
  192. >Everyone but one.
  193.
  194. >Ziggy and you had met a long time ago when you were younger.
  195. >To meet him again right there at that very moment was a chance in a trillion.
  196. >Although that shouldn’t surprise you when it comes to him.
  197. >”I’m not gonna let my good ol’ friend alone when he asks for help!”
  198. >Good grief.
  199. >You know he means well, but you’d rather have anyone else by your side right now.
  200. >Still, when he offered his assistance, everyone else became even more adamant on not going.
  201. >So he willingly became stuck with you on a universe hopping city.
  202. “Whatever. “
  203. >You release him and continue to walk.
  204. >You feel awkward since he pointed that out.
  205. >Change the topic.
  206. “Soooo, I take it you were on vacation?”
  207. >”What makes you think that?”
  208. >You give him a deadpan look and point at his red Hawaiian shirt with blue stars.
  209. >”Oh, this thing? I started with one during a job, and liked it so much that before I knew it I had ordered a whole bunch to a young seamstress in Manehattan. “
  210. >So they are custom made?
  211. >That explains the stars.
  212. >”I have one in every color.”
  213. “Did you really need that many?”
  214. >”Ever since I moved to Canterlot I’ve been needing more clothes.”
  215. “Canterlot? With the Technicolor people?”
  216. >”Don’t be rude John.”
  217. “Right, Sorry.”
  218. >You should have known someone like him would go on and live in such a weird place.
  219. >Keep asking questions.
  220. “Did you make friends there?”
  221. >”A whole bunch!” he begins to count with his fingers, “There’s my cat, Sonic, Doctor Z, the sisters, Mrs. Yearling, Featherweight, and I’m still working on my neighbor Mr. Cranky.”
  222. “Have you taken some new hobbies?”
  223. >”I’ve been taking cooking classes.”
  224. “Have you used your stand to hit somebody?”
  225. >”Ye…”
  226. >Ziggy cuts himself off.
  227. >You turn around and look at him.
  228. >You didn’t know humans could scrunch their mouths.
  229.
  230. >”Y-yes… I did once.” He admits.
  231. “Even though you promised?”
  232. >”I had no choice.”
  233. >You scrutinize him.
  234. >He doesn’t seem to be lying.
  235. >But it does sound very unlike him to resort to use his stand in that way.
  236. >You want to know more, but you know this isn’t the right moment.
  237. “We’ll talk about it later.”
  238. >You both continue walking.
  239. >The mood turned sour.
  240. >”Can I ask you something?”
  241. “Go ahead.”
  242. >”Say John, since this is another dimension things are bound to be different, right?”
  243. “I guess, why?”
  244. >”There’s something that’s been bothering me for a while.”
  245. >Bothering him?
  246. >”Do you think it is normal if a bush has been following us for a while?”
  247. >NANI!?
  248. >You turn around quickly and focus on a big bush of leaves right behind Ziggy.
  249. >A new pearl emerges from your body, with the word “Leaves” written on it.
  250. >The leaves disappear instantly, leaving only a pair of ponies between a few branches.
  251. >Wait, ponies?
  252.
  253. >Oh my gosh, your cover has been blown.
  254. >Who would have known humans were able to manifest stands!
  255. >This is so awesome you can’t help to squee.
  256. >”I told you this was a bad idea.” Whispers Bonnie to you, “Why did you have to get closer?”
  257. “Their conversation was interesting; they are so much like us!”
  258. >”Don’t you dare compare me to those be…”
  259. >She gets interrupted.
  260. >The human in a gaudy shirt picks her up from her barrel.
  261. >They look face to muzzle.
  262. >Bonnie’s scrunched while his in deep thought.
  263. >”John, “ he says seriously… and then his face looks goofy “Can we keep her?”
  264. >”They are not pets Ziggy.”
  265. >”But look at her, she is so grumpy, I love her!”
  266. >”Put me down!” screams Bonnie, her body beginning to glow.
  267. >[Pram] activates.
  268. >And just like that, the human called Ziggy’s head crashes to the ground.
  269. “Ouch.”
  270. >Bonbon falls, so do the saddlebags and their contents.
  271. >”That’s what you get for not listening.” Says the one called John while getting closer.
  272. >Bonbon gets on guard.
  273. >”Stay away! We don’t want any problems!”
  274. >”How come you two are here?” asks John not backing down, “You are a long way from Equestria.”
  275. “You know about Equestria?”
  276. >”Is the only place I know with talking horses.”
  277. >”Thrs a plc wid tadkn hosis?” mumbles Ziggy from the ground, his right [Grabby Grab] inching ever so slightly trying to boop Bonnie.
  278. >”Shut it!” say both Bonbon and John.
  279. >Ziggy’s head sinks even lower on the ground.
  280. “We came looking for a pony named Domino, have you seen him?”
  281. >Bonnie’s face gets beyond shocked.
  282. >”Why are you telling them?!”
  283. “They seem trustworthy.”
  284. >”Haven’t you learned anything from last time? We can’t trust anypony in weird dimensions.”
  285. “This is different!” you point at the humans, “They aren’t ponies.”
  286. >Bonbon groans.
  287.
  288. “Besides, if they were dangerous, they would have attacked us already.”
  289. >”Are you two done?” asks John impatiently.
  290. >Bonbon doesn’t seem to want to relent, and you are pretty sure that if that human’s head gets any lower it will come off.
  291. >You know it’s cheap, but you got no other choice left.
  292. >You look at Bonnie with the [Eyes].
  293. >Her frown begins to fall apart; clearly an intense inner struggle is taking place in her head.
  294. >You amp up your cuteness.
  295. >”… fine.” She sighs.
  296. >It never fails.
  297. >”Could you tell…” you interrupt Bonbon with a nudge in her ribs and point at the sunken Ziggy.
  298. >She rolls her eyes and calls off her stand.
  299. >Ziggy emerges… unscathed?
  300. >”As I was saying, do you happen to know about a pony called Domino?”
  301. >”You are the only ponies we have seen so far. And if that’s all you got to ask, then we are leaving.”
  302. >”So are we.” Says Bonbon.
  303. >What.
  304. >”What? You are going to leave them?” asks Ziggy.
  305. “Bonnie, we should go with them.” You plead.
  306. >”We can’t be wasting our time watching over two ponies.” Says John to his companion.
  307. >”They seem to be doing their own thing, and we got no time to spare.” Says Bonbon to you.
  308. >”Come on, you were just going on and on about how dangerous this place is and now you want to leave those two on their own? The right thing would be to join forces and engage in jolly cooperation.”
  309. “We could really need some strong stand users to help us out!”
  310. >”Ziggy, you just got beaten by one of them. Those ponies are strong enough.”
  311. >”Lyra, I just beat one them, that human is weak.”
  312. >You and Ziggy sigh in defeat.
  313. >You first contact with a human went awry.
  314. >…
  315. >Wait!
  316. >You hurry towards the saddlebags.
  317. “I know it is not much, but you can take anything you want as a token of our gratitude.”
  318. >”Really Lyra?”
  319. “Yup. You can take anything…”
  320. >”I want the box. The box!” Says Ziggy.
  321. “… except the box.”
  322.
  323. >He begins to rummage through your stuff.
  324. >John is tapping his feet impatiently.
  325. >”Oh! Just what I needed!” he exclaims.
  326. >With a victorious pose he holds high the toilet roll.
  327. “That’s important to humans?”
  328. >”Of course, without it every day I could die.”
  329. >Oh my stars!
  330. >Humans eat toilet rolls!
  331. >This is the biggest anthropologic discovery ever!
  332. >With Ziggy’s help, you place everything back in the saddlebags.
  333. >”Let’s go Lyra.” Says Bonnie already trotting away.
  334. “Bye bye humans!”
  335. >”Buh-bye little horse!” waves Ziggy back at you.
  336.
  337. >”…Why did you do that Ziggy?” asks one human.
  338. >”You noticed, huh?” says the other. “I thought it was fair since they were giving us something.”
  339. >”Fair enough, “the human answers with a smile, “why the toilet roll though?”
  340. >”… do I really need to explain it?”
  341. >The first human gets angry.
  342. >”Right now!?”
  343. >”I can’t help it.”
  344. >”You have ten minutes to find a toilet or I’ll take your anus away.”
  345. >”Ha ha ha… you are joking, right?”
  346. >”Five minutes.”
  347. >The human sprints away.
  348. >You cut the feedback from [Shatter Me].
  349. “Some really interesting flies have come into our spider web.” You say to the little filly.
  350. >She just trembles at the sound of your voice.
  351. “Still, for those two mares to come here… the ECR must be quite desperate.”
  352. >You clap your hooves, and a myriad of red eyes appear in the shadows.
  353. “We should give them a warm welcome, don’t you think Erroria?”
