I’m in a process of allowing my OwnCloud server to be accessed from outside of my home network.
I’ve been following some online tutorials how to do that. They are all ok, but they all in one form or another suggest that this is a really bad idea. They lean towards to rent a shared hosting server or VPS.
To be honest I don’t see any advantages having my OwnCloud server on a shared hosting or VPS. What am I missing? Why is it a bad idea to have home OwnCloud server exposed to the internet?
