  142. (07:13:47) Marykate_The_Behaved: <3 <3
  143. (07:13:51) Cheeseness: Right, so, for anybody who's not aware, Marius was an intern during the game's early development (you might remember him from back in the early episode of the documentary)
  144. (07:13:52) ReidHarrisCooper: What do we do?
  145. (07:13:57) Syd: If pausing/unpausing doesn't work, you can go directly to http://www.twitch.tv/dfgameclubtemp/
  146. (07:13:59) salty-horse: MEOW GAME
  147. (07:14:03) Cheeseness: And DFAnna was senior gameplay programmer (hope I got that right :D )
  148. (07:14:04) JelDeRebel: great at least y work isn't blocking the stream
  149. (07:14:05) Permafry_42: oops lol
  150. (07:14:07) Syd: Or try a different browser
  151. (07:14:10) ReidHarrisCooper: This was a hard part of the game
  152. (07:14:12) Permafry_42: wrong save file to continue lol
  153. (07:14:30) Marykate_The_Behaved: Have I gone on at length about how much I've loved DFA/BA?
  154. (07:14:31) thesporkman: We need a "I wonder what happens in Act 2 of Broken Age" video from Majus.
  155. (07:14:35) ValiantCookie: first puzzle, loading the right save file!
  156. The_Mad_Pirate thesporkman
  157. (07:14:38) DFAnna left the room (quit: Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client).
  158. (07:14:41) Cheeseness: thesporkman: We totally do!
  159. (07:14:46) ReidHarrisCooper: OMG! Majus!
  160. (07:14:48) ReidHarrisCooper: do that!
  161. (07:14:49) Marius: I worked on the beginning of Act 1 of Broken Age, doing some animatics.
  162. (07:14:51) Permafry_42: love the art in this cutscene a lot
  163. (07:14:53) Sven_Q45: Permafry_42 Had the same problem.
  164. (07:14:55) JelDeRebel: you have gone on at length about being a scary bff, marykate
  165. (07:14:55) ValiantCookie: Marius: now that the game is out, can you tell us what parts you worked on?
  166. (07:14:55) ReidHarrisCooper: Even postmotem!
  167. (07:14:57) Marykate_The_Behaved: <3 <3
  168. (07:15:04) Syd: Reminder: No spoiler discussion in the chat, don't talk about anything that's beyond what's being streamed.
  169. (07:15:07) flesk: DFAnna got bored of waiting for the game to start. :/
  170. (07:15:08) Cheeseness: Marius: When you made your application, what expectations did you have for the game?
  171. (07:15:12) Cheeseness: flesk: Ha ha
  172. (07:15:13) Syd: Some people haven't finished act 2 yet.
  173. (07:15:14) salty-horse: hug!
  174. (07:15:18) Marius: I have to say that I love this intro. How quiet it is and that there's no dialogue. So well done.
  175. (07:15:23) DFAnna [Mibbit@hide-C9B8D9F3.hsd1.ca.comcast.net] entered the room.
  176. (07:15:31) ReidHarrisCooper: How do we choose what part to start?
  177. (07:15:38) ReidHarrisCooper: I say Shay
  178. (07:15:38) BadAsp: Best cliffhanger ever
  179. (07:15:43) salty-horse: WHAAAAAAA
  180. (07:15:44) JelDeRebel: yeah don't spoil that they kill that one guy...oops
  181. (07:15:44) Syd: Whatever part Perma feels like going with I guess
  182. (07:15:48) ReidHarrisCooper: Shay
  183. (07:15:50) Sven_Q45: I started Act 2 with Shay.
  184. (07:15:53) DFAnna: choose either and switch often :D
  185. (07:15:55) ReidHarrisCooper: do Shay for... reasons
  186. (07:15:56) JelDeRebel: vella
  187. (07:16:00) Syd: Looks like it's Shay time
  188. (07:16:02) Fhqwhgod: I started with Vella both times
  189. (07:16:05) Permafry_42: i love shay's face
  190. (07:16:06) Cheeseness: We're planning to switch a bunch
  191. (07:16:11) flesk: I started act 1 with Vella, so I did Shay first this time.
  192. (07:16:15) ReidHarrisCooper: No, this is why Shay... so we go right into discussion.
  193. (07:16:16) ValiantCookie: Rule #1. use the spoon with everything
  194. (07:16:26) Syd: I started with Shay for act 1, started with Vella for act 2, got stuck quickly, and went back to Shay for a while. :P
  195. (07:16:27) GameClubFan_835794 [Mibbit@F740BA0B.A380F343.4EFB2258.IP] entered the room.
  196. (07:16:30) JelDeRebel: I started act 1 vella, act 2 shay
  197. (07:16:33) salty-horse: spoon everyone
  198. (07:16:40) Cheeseness: DFAnna: What were your expectations for the project when the crowdfunding campaign ended? Did you have any idea of what was ahead of you?
  199. (07:16:47) Sven_Q45: Act 1: Vella, Act 2: Shay.
  200. (07:16:53) BadAsp: Freaked out when I first saw that
  201. (07:16:56) salty-horse: WHAAAAAAAAAA
  202. (07:16:57) DFAnna: i didn't even know i was going to be on the project, actually :D
  203. (07:17:01) ReidHarrisCooper: And so now we can go straight into discussion over this reveal... and our feelings
  204. (07:17:01) ElaineMarley: I started with Vella and switched once II made it to the spaceship interior, 'cause I was curious about Shay's reaction too.
  205. (07:17:02) ValiantCookie: How can the computer be real if I'm not real?
  206. (07:17:08) BadAsp: I thought he was just still a computer or an orb thing or whatever
  207. (07:17:12) Marius: ValiantCookie: I made a bunch of animatics for the cloud colony and some for the spaceship
  208. (07:17:17) DFAnna: it was going to be a small thing, mainly for the documentary
  209. (07:17:22) ValiantCookie: cool
  210. (07:17:22) DFAnna: 2 Player Productions approached us
  211. (07:17:35) Cheeseness: Right
  212. (07:17:47) GameClubFan_835794 left the room (quit: Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client).
  213. (07:17:47) DFAnna: because they wanted to film what it was like to develop a game from zero concept to fully completed project
  214. (07:18:11) salty-horse: awww spoon
  215. (07:18:11) ElaineMarley: Bless the spoon aww
  216. (07:18:13) ReidHarrisCooper: This part of the story should be in the postmortem. The story of how the project came to be BEFORE the kickstarter even.
  217. (07:18:15) DFAnna: we didn't expect it to blow up the way it did :D
  218. (07:18:22) Marius: Cheeseness: I seriously had no clue what the DFA could become when I applied. But I knew it would become oldschooly
  219. (07:18:22) JelDeRebel: i backed it for the docuentary mos part, never been into pnc games
  220. (07:18:24) DFAnna: spoon is my personal favorite
  221. (07:18:32) DFAnna: i would request more spoon lines
  222. (07:18:33) flesk: DFAnna: Do you know why they approached Double Fine specifically?
  223. (07:18:33) BadAsp: seagulls are cute
  224. (07:18:36) Fhqwhgod: I'm a knife person
  225. (07:18:39) ReidHarrisCooper: That line confuses me
  226. (07:18:40) Syd: In my second playthrough of act 1, I did lots of using items on stuff they weren't meant for and got some funny surprises
  227. (07:18:44) ReidHarrisCooper: Always knew...
  228. (07:18:46) Syd: Like using the air canister on Marek
  229. (07:18:54) Syd: "Want a hit off this air tank, man?"
  230. (07:18:56) ReidHarrisCooper: What age did he last see them?
  231. (07:18:57) Cheeseness: Hah
  232. (07:19:15) salty-horse: Shay is really small
  233. (07:19:17) JelDeRebel: sporks all the way
  234. (07:19:20) flesk: Yeah, it's really neat that there are so many unique responses.
  235. (07:19:21) kisak: man what was I thinking, I should have talked to all the birds to see if there was a special response
  236. (07:19:24) DFAnna: i don't know why it was DF specifically.. or how they even knew of us. maybe they liked one of our games or thought tim was very funny
  237. (07:19:25) Sven_Q45: I didn´t play Act 2 with subtitles.-
  238. (07:19:44) ValiantCookie: I need to go through hunting for lines I missed. like in Act 1 you throw away the axe after chopping the tree, imagine all the axe murdering I missed in shellmound!
  239. (07:19:47) Cheeseness: It seems to have worked out to be a good partnership

  241. (07:19:49) DFAnna: subtitles are useful for one of the puzzles
  242. (07:19:56) Fhqwhgod: Sven: that made a certain part harder I guess
  243. (07:19:59) salty-horse: I didn't like spending time in this room because of all the choking whistling
  244. (07:20:19) thesporkman: Yeah, I felt so bad for Marshal Dune.
  245. (07:20:21) Syd: He can solve that puzzle to stop that noise pretty quickly if he chooses to
  246. (07:20:28) ReidHarrisCooper: Camden's work on that choke is awesome though
  247. (07:20:31) DFAnna: yeah, it's been amazing to have them in the office -- they make game dev interesting to watch which is tough
  248. (07:20:40) flesk: I always play with subtitles when I can. I know which puzzle you mean.
  249. (07:20:45) salty-horse: DFAnna, unless you have musical sense :D
  250. (07:20:48) DFAnna: because so much of it is honestly quite boring
  251. (07:20:50) ReidHarrisCooper: Anna: Is it going to be an adjustment when they leave?
  252. (07:20:52) DFAnna: yes :D! true
  253. (07:20:54) Cheeseness: DFAnna: Do you think that relationship is going to continue after Massive Chalice and the DFA doc wraps up?
  254. (07:21:01) Syd: It feels wrong to play an adventure game without subtitles if the option is available.
  255. (07:21:05) ValiantCookie: Spoon sounds so concerned about the choking risk
  256. (07:21:08) Nemoder [Mibbit@BA841B0.14033B26.59B2A97B.IP] entered the room.
  257. (07:21:12) thesporkman: I actually solved this one before talking to Alex, which led to a slight bug. Marshal Dune mentions something that hadn't happened yet.
  258. (07:21:20) Cheeseness: Hey Nemoder
  259. (07:21:20) BadAsp: I played Act 2 without them because I didn't need them
  260. (07:21:28) Nemoder: heyo
  261. (07:21:33) Marius: Haha, he gives an honest "No"-answer to the hexagon question, while he is choking. I love this guy.
  262. (07:21:36) Cheeseness: I didn't use subtitles either
  263. (07:21:50) DFAnna: i hope they don't leave :D but i don't think it's going to change a whole lot in terms of development (except we'll miss them terribly), because they're amazingly good at making us feel comfortable around a camera.
  264. (07:22:13) DFAnna: we're at a point where we can forget there is a camera on us
  265. (07:22:17) JelDeRebel: can't play without subtitles. english is already hard enough forus foreigners
  266. (07:22:20) ElaineMarley: I like doing a first playthrough without subs so they won't spoil the comic timing.
  267. (07:22:31) Marius: I may be weird if 2PP wouldnt be there anymore.
  268. (07:22:39) GameClubFan_598721 [Mibbit@hide-E323F0BE.dip0.t-ipconnect.de] entered the room.
  269. (07:22:39) DFAnna: which i never thought i'd be able to say, because being filmed all the time was very difficult for me at first
  270. (07:22:45) ReidHarrisCooper: Look... it's Blossom!
  271. (07:22:50) GameClubFan_598721 left the room (quit: Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client).
  272. (07:22:54) salty-horse: there are still a few bugs where graphics overlay the subtitles. was a "known shippable" for part 1
  273. (07:23:03) BadAsp: I love Car'l
  274. (07:23:11) Marius: I love Carols character design, I had much fun drawing her for an animatic where she looses her knife
  275. (07:23:11) Sven_Q45: JelDeRebel Steam wanted me to play in German. But I changed that. I´m used to the English voice from Act 1.
  276. (07:23:22) Cheeseness: ElaineMarley: I think it depends on the game and how the dialogue has been written - take Monkey Island 1 and 2. Those lines are "delivered" better without voice, I think - even though the actors are talented, the lines were just written with the intention that they'd be read
  277. (07:23:25) Fhqwhgod: Ewwwwww German
  278. (07:23:38) JelDeRebel: i wished the documentary had subtitles, guess i'll have to wait for the boxed release
  279. (07:23:39) Syd: I saw Shay's mouth go out of place for a split second during some of his early dialogue with Marek in act 1 after act 2 released but I'm not sure if that has been patched yet.
  280. (07:23:44) salty-horse: BLOSSOM!
  281. (07:23:47) thesporkman: I love how every single NPC has their own little subplot and arc. Very Grim Fandango.
  282. (07:24:00) DFAnna: re the subtitle bugs where some stuff overlays the subtitles -- it would actually be weirder to have the subtitles appear over the graphics, because most of them are important to look at
  283. (07:24:08) DFAnna: i tried that :D
  284. (07:24:11) JelDeRebel: actually wasn't there a project for all sorts of docu sly?ubtitles in different languages that got canned somewhere ear
  285. (07:24:29) GameClubFan_627711 [Mibbit@hide-2171B668.bb.online.no] entered the room.
  286. (07:24:31) ElaineMarley: Even the cutlery have their own little drama going on, it's so great.
  287. (07:24:38) salty-horse: DFAnna, in some cases, the subtitles are moved to appear below the graphics. But in the star charts and Hexipal it's behind
  288. (07:24:48) Permafry_42: i love this scene soooo much
  289. (07:24:49) DFAnna: thesporkman, yes Tim is very good at writing bit characters and making them feel like they have a rich life in the game world
  290. (07:24:55) ReidHarrisCooper: Cosmonopedia?
  291. (07:24:58) Permafry_42: the trolling is so awesome
  292. (07:25:00) GameClubFan_627711 left the room (quit: Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client).
  293. (07:25:08) ReidHarrisCooper: Where is that? I want the Cosmonopedia...
  294. (07:25:14) salty-horse: err.. it's behind the hexipal only before you try to wire it. then it's in front
  295. (07:25:14) ReidHarrisCooper: Anna: Can that be made?
  296. (07:25:21) ValiantCookie: Naw who would believe that
  297. (07:25:23) ElaineMarley: lol raise your hands if you thought Alex was future Shay
  298. (07:25:29) salty-horse: ElaineMarley, :D
  299. (07:25:30) Cheeseness: Ha ha, so this dialogue about future/past Shay/Alex feels like it's a response to community speculation
  300. (07:25:33) BadAsp: *raises hand*
  301. (07:25:40) Fhqwhgod: I guess this was inspired by all the theories in the forum
  302. (07:25:47) Syd: I didn't, it didn't feel like a plot device Tim would use.
  303. (07:25:47) Marius: The future-me-joke is so good.
  304. (07:25:51) ElaineMarley: I thought they were clones XD
  305. (07:25:54) Sven_Q45: I liked that Jennifer Hale was on board too. :)

  307. (07:26:03) Syd: But teasing that in the trailer was a good choice, heh
  308. (07:26:05) Cheeseness: Syd: Right
  309. (07:26:08) Permafry_42: *raisess hand*
  310. (07:26:14) ValiantCookie: Cheeseness: the only question is, how much of it was foresight when they knew they were splitting the game, or reaction to fans
  311. (07:26:15) GameClubFan_106170 left the room (quit: Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client).
  312. (07:26:15) DFAnna: ReidHarrisCooper, i think direct that to Tim :D
  313. (07:26:27) Cheeseness: ValiantCookie: I think it was entirely reactionary
  314. (07:26:29) DFAnna: Cheeseness, I believe it was :D
  315. (07:26:32) Sven_Q45: I also thought Alex was Shay. :D

  317. (07:27:01) DFAnna: a lot of our playtesters told us this as well
  318. (07:27:15) DFAnna: most of the story was there from the get-go
  319. (07:27:15) Cheeseness: DFAnna: What were the biggest hurdles you faced early in development? What type of stuff does a senior gameplay programmer focus on at the start of a project like this?
  320. (07:27:16) ReidHarrisCooper: Anna: It's only cause I just realized it was said... so I'll make sure I'll send a note to Tim. I'm still waiting for the Google Docs share though.
  321. (07:27:20) GameClubFan_021351 left the room (quit: Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client).
  322. (07:27:24) thesporkman: I act one, Alex never introduces himself to Shay. The first time you hear his name is during the Mog Chothra fight. Was that intentional or an oversight?
  323. (07:27:28) ElaineMarley: I feel there was a step-up to the animation on the characters in Act 2. It's sooo good.
  324. (07:27:34) DFAnna: we were able to split the game because we were coming up to a good stopping point in the story
  325. (07:27:42) Cheeseness: thesporkman: Do you mean never introduces himself to Vella?
  326. (07:27:50) thesporkman: yes
  327. (07:28:12) salty-horse: thesporkman, I think the community posted a bug about it on the forum or something
  328. (07:28:24) DFbenburbank [Mibbit@hide-551C114D.hsd1.ca.comcast.net] entered the room.
  329. (07:28:30) Sven_Q45: I only played Act 1 as beta.
  330. (07:28:34) Cheeseness: Hey Ben! :D
  331. (07:28:37) ValiantCookie: DFAnna, I suppose there is a technical reason for it not being there. But did you guys try to include skipping dialog line by line at all?
  332. (07:28:43) salty-horse: how much of the plot was settled before act 1 shipped?
  333. (07:28:43) DFbenburbank left the room (quit: Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client).
  334. (07:29:12) Marius: Beeeeeennnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn
  335. (07:29:13) Cheeseness: Just got word from Tim that he'll join us if he can, but he's not sure if he'll be able
  336. (07:29:27) thesporkman: I want to see what Marek's cello costume looked like.
  337. (07:29:36) Syd: Come back to us, Ben!
  338. (07:29:42) salty-horse: Kirk-talk
  339. (07:29:48) thesporkman: And how old is Marek anyway?
  340. (07:29:49) Syd: Ohh, possible Tim
  341. (07:29:56) DFAnna: brb one second guys, just saying bye to some friends who stopped by
  342. (07:30:02) GameClubFan_810012 [Mibbit@hide-33C44C5B.cpe.netcabo.pt] entered the room.
  343. (07:30:16) Syd: That repeat of the future-me joke was pretty good
  344. (07:30:20) JelDeRebel: soo are there any po culture references i'm not seeing or aren't there any?
  345. (07:30:21) salty-horse: past-me
  346. (07:30:22) Marius: The future-me-joke has a fantastic payoff when Dad shows up
  347. (07:30:25) salty-horse: it's a twist on the joke
  348. (07:30:26) Cheeseness: :D
  349. (07:30:27) ElaineMarley: I don't think that was actually Marek in a costume, it could have just been a cello fitted with a speaker, which Marek spoke through remotely.
  350. (07:30:44) GameClubFan_810012 left the room (quit: Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client).
  351. (07:30:50) GameClubFan_085323 [Mibbit@hide-33C44C5B.cpe.netcabo.pt] entered the room.
  352. (07:30:51) ReidHarrisCooper: Diamond Age
  353. (07:30:56) salty-horse: ElaineMarley, then why would a wolf costume have to be actually Marek in person?
  354. (07:31:03) GameClubFan_085323 left the room (quit: Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client).
  355. (07:31:07) Cheeseness: Ben, we miss you
  356. (07:31:08) Syd: Remember, please keep quiet on anything that would be considered a spoiler at the point the stream is at.
  357. (07:31:12) ValiantCookie: salty-horse: budget cuts
  358. (07:31:13) salty-horse: sorry
  359. (07:31:38) Syd: You hadn't quite hit Marek spoilers yet but you were getting close. :P
  360. (07:31:41) JaceTachi [Mibbit@hide-33C44C5B.cpe.netcabo.pt] entered the room.
  361. (07:31:46) ElaineMarley: salty-horse it comes up later in the game.
  362. (07:31:50) salty-horse: Marek does say he's in a costume in act 1
  363. (07:31:55) Syd: Yeah
  364. (07:32:00) salty-horse: ElaineMarley, whoops. sorry. hadn't gotten there yet
  365. (07:32:16) salty-horse: Cheeseness, !
  366. (07:32:17) salty-horse: pencil!
  367. (07:32:19) Syd: Was just reminding because Marek discussion could easily go into spoiler territory if not handled carefully
  368. (07:32:21) salty-horse: only now!
  369. (07:32:35) Cheeseness: salty-horse: It's still there!
  370. (07:32:43) JelDeRebel: spoilers are dangerous yo
  371. (07:32:52) salty-horse: Cheeseness, it just now appeared
  372. (07:32:55) thesporkman: Alex giving Shay five tasks is an interesting break from the 3 Trials structure.
  373. (07:33:05) Cheeseness: salty-horse: Yeah, I know. It doesn't go away though
  374. (07:33:23) salty-horse: thesporkman, agreed, but it's a bit of a stretch, since some missions are totally blocked by others
  375. (07:33:45) Cheeseness: I think that gating was important
  376. (07:33:47) Sven_Q45: Ooooh the Haxipal puzzle...
  377. (07:33:49) salty-horse: oh I missed those few seconds. I wanted to see how you realize this is a charging station
  378. (07:33:53) Syd: Good ol' spoon, always helpful.
  379. (07:34:26) Permafry_42: good time to swap
  380. (07:34:32) salty-horse: SWAP!
  381. (07:34:43) salty-horse: to the chron-o-jon!
  382. (07:34:53) Fhqwhgod: I looooooove that beginning
  383. (07:34:59) BadAsp: One of my favorite characters
  384. (07:35:08) Xoryn: I love the knife. My favourite character ^^
  385. (07:35:19) DFAnna: hello back
  386. (07:35:22) salty-horse: I missed the knife saying something when Shay cuts the cord in act 1
  387. (07:35:24) Cheeseness: Welcome back, DFAnna
  388. (07:35:25) JelDeRebel: I do find the cotrols to select items from that menu a bit awkward, or maybe it's because the game also supports touch controls i guess
  389. (07:35:41) ReidHarrisCooper: Dutch the Knife...
  390. (07:35:48) BadAsp: DEATH FROM ABOVE!
  391. (07:35:49) Fhqwhgod: how does Vella know what space is?
  392. (07:36:01) ValiantCookie: Homicidal knife, 2nd best character in the game
  393. (07:36:02) JelDeRebel: is that knie going to kill ella?
  394. (07:36:03) salty-horse: Fhqwhgod, I think her world has technology
  395. (07:36:03) ReidHarrisCooper: Why would Vella know about space?
  396. (07:36:05) JaceTachi: knife best character of the game
  397. (07:36:07) thesporkman: In act one, Shay's story only really has one 3 Trials section, but Vella's has two. Was Shay's section supposed to be shorter, or were things cut?
  398. (07:36:13) ReidHarrisCooper: They have video games and TV show
  399. (07:36:15) ValiantCookie: People see stars at night
  400. (07:36:19) ElaineMarley: JelDeRebel in the Options menu you can choose whether you prefer to click or to drag
  401. (07:36:39) JelDeRebel: really? holy shit
  402. (07:36:51) Syd: Vella's world has electricity and such, so they probably know what space is.
  403. (07:36:57) JelDeRebel: marry me, elaine
  404. (07:37:05) DFAnna: ValiantCookie, about line skipping not being available -- it's because we had fully animated cutscenes and it wasn't entirely clear where a line skip would take you, since a lot of the time the story-telling was through only animation. it just looked bad and inconsistent. i had the feature working but we just didn't like it
  405. (07:37:07) salty-horse: DFAnna, did anyone else get the bug where none of the toolbar menus buttons work?
  406. (07:37:15) Marius: thesporkman: It has kinda the same length since Vella has more environments to explore.
  407. (07:37:38) ValiantCookie: Ah thanks
  408. (07:37:47) CecilRousso [Mibbit@hide-E6D5664D.ias.bredband.telia.com] entered the room.
  409. (07:37:50) JaceTachi: lol
  410. (07:38:00) salty-horse: aww knifey
  411. (07:38:10) ValiantCookie: I thought Vella's act 1 was a lot longer than shays
  412. (07:38:22) CecilRousso: Knifey is the best.
  413. (07:38:31) DFAnna: Cheeseness, the biggest hurdles were: we initially didn't really know what kind of game we were going to be making, and that because Tim had to run the company in addition to this project, a lot of the smaller decisions fell on Lee and me and it was a lot of pressure to do the right thing
  414. (07:38:54) Cheeseness: It felt like it was a lot of pressure
  415. (07:38:55) ElaineMarley: It is ValiantCookie or at least on my speedrun
  416. (07:39:16) Xoryn: This puzzle makes me think of the Full Throttle gate puzzle.
  417. (07:39:23) salty-horse: so, the family never heard that robotic voice that fixes the space part?
  418. (07:39:38) Cheeseness: I really feel like Vella's dialogue here with cutting the tube a second time leads players in the wrong direction - she seems to talk about needing to climb higher, not have something to fall onto
  419. (07:40:01) Syd: I guess the ship was never damaged to the point that the robotic voice needed to do anything before
  420. (07:40:16) ReidHarrisCooper: What I found funny about most of the Vella puzzles in the ship were actually really easy and had the ILLUSION of being difficult
  421. (07:40:22) salty-horse: Syd, good point
  422. (07:40:38) kisak: I spent at least 3 hours on this screen
  423. (07:40:39) thesporkman: I thought the falling aspect was well hinted at.
  424. (07:40:45) Sven_Q45: Yes but I don´t like time puzzles.
  425. The_Mad_Pirate thesporkman
  426. (07:40:55) salty-horse: the voice in my inventory tells me to kill everyone
  427. (07:40:55) ReidHarrisCooper: The falling aspect is actually super hinted at
  428. (07:40:57) Syd: I got stuck on getting the second hose for this puzzle. It felt like an additional line of dialogue about having something to fall onto might have helped. :P
  429. (07:41:06) Cheeseness: thesporkman: Vella says that she would fall too far, but she keeps talking about how she can't reach the bit she needs to cut
  430. (07:41:06) ReidHarrisCooper: It's there
  431. (07:41:13) salty-horse: why didn't knifey say "yes yes yes" when shay cut the cord? :(
  432. (07:41:14) ReidHarrisCooper: you just need to pay attention
  433. (07:41:26) JelDeRebel: too much spoiler for me atm, i'm not that far XD
  434. (07:41:35) Cheeseness: ReidHarrisCooper: I paid attention :D
  435. (07:41:38) thesporkman: The "I can't reach it" part is the hint that you need to climb it and then cut.
  436. (07:41:46) ValiantCookie: There needed to be more of a hint for needing to cut the long hose
  437. (07:42:02) Syd: What I thought needed to be done was find the right panel to stand on to cut the cable from, so landing on one of those platforms didn't really occur to me
  438. (07:42:09) salty-horse: my friend really got stuck with the UI of the long hose, where you need to click and drag instead of just click
  439. (07:42:15) ElaineMarley: Disturbing line from Dutch there
  440. (07:42:19) thesporkman: There's also a lot of good visual hinting. The the frayed parts of the hose stand out really well.
  441. (07:42:20) ReidHarrisCooper: more of a hint would ruin it and then fall into the well... that was easy
  442. (07:42:24) Sven_Q45: I needed a long time to figure out that I have to cut the hose.
  443. (07:42:31) Permafry_42: yea same
  444. (07:42:37) Syd: I know it's a fine line to walk between too hard and too easy
  445. (07:42:38) salty-horse: same
  446. (07:42:43) ValiantCookie: are there multiple solutions to this puzzle?
  447. (07:42:48) ReidHarrisCooper: No
  448. (07:42:51) ReidHarrisCooper: just one
  449. (07:42:51) ValiantCookie: I used the middle pipe on the left
  450. (07:42:53) salty-horse: does it matter where you connect the long hose?
  451. (07:42:54) ValiantCookie: and middle on the right
  452. (07:42:56) JelDeRebel: how can there be multiple solutions?
  453. (07:42:56) Permafry_42: it changes every time you play
  454. (07:43:04) BadAsp: I just connected it right on the first try
  455. (07:43:09) BadAsp: I think the solution's random
  456. (07:43:10) salty-horse: I got it on the first try so it didn't make sense
  457. (07:43:11) thesporkman: Vella can also jump down onto the right panel without cutting. A lot of experimentation is possible to show you exactly how everythng works.
  458. (07:43:13) Cheeseness: ReidHarrisCooper: I agree - it didn't need more in the way of prompts, just less dialogue about not being able to reach stuff or needing to get higher
  459. (07:43:17) salty-horse: wheeeeee
  460. (07:43:27) Marius: DFAnna: How are people in the office doin'?
  461. (07:43:29) Cheeseness: Oh, I'd never seen her jump down
  462. (07:43:31) ReidHarrisCooper: this puzzle was a headache just cause I suck at hand eye stuff
  463. (07:43:34) salty-horse: it's weird that the claw was mog chothra's tentable
  464. (07:43:34) ValiantCookie: I got this quickly by luck in my playthrough, but had a lot of trouble in my speedrun
  465. (07:43:38) ElaineMarley: I think the long hose you can connect wherever,
  466. (07:43:43) Sven_Q45: Yes I hated the random generator. :D
  467. (07:44:06) DFAnna: Marius, good but not as good as we could be (if you were there)
  468. (07:44:15) Fhqwhgod: random stuff is always good to weed out players that use walkthroughs :)
  469. (07:44:19) Cheeseness: DFAnna: At what point did you decide to randomise some of the puzzle solutions and why?
  470. (07:44:31) Marius: Shutup
  471. (07:44:42) Cheeseness: I'm with Fhqwhgod. I *really* appreciate that there are random bits :3
  472. (07:45:00) ValiantCookie: I wonder if the game uses the same random seed throughout the game. do the pressure pipes always correlate to the hexipal puzzle?
  473. (07:45:32) Cheeseness: ValiantCookie: I think it does. Either that or the wiring patterns were suspiciously close on my second playthrough
  474. (07:46:02) ElaineMarley: I think it's cool that it's randomised. Wasn't the route Guybrush had to take in Monkey Island 2 randomised too, or not?
  475. (07:46:20) Permafry_42: swap!
  476. (07:46:28) Fhqwhgod: no the route was the same I think
  477. (07:46:31) Sven_Q45: ElaineMarley With the ship? Yes.
  478. (07:46:35) ReidHarrisCooper: Anna: I was ... looking through the code and saw other wiring for the Hexipal...other than the four we use. Are those actually something that can be done? (ex: window washing action)
  479. (07:46:41) thesporkman: Vella has so many awesome and hilarious lines in act 2.
  480. (07:46:43) ValiantCookie: Where did shay see the pyramid before?
  481. (07:46:48) flesk: I really liked the background in Shay's bedroom in this act.
  482. (07:46:57) Fhqwhgod: oh yeah the treasure root. I thought the endgame route
  483. Marius Marykate_The_Behaved
  484. Marius Marykate_The_Behaved
  485. (07:47:09) ValiantCookie: is that related to the "intuition" theory, or is it like the mountain from the train
  486. (07:47:16) salty-horse: look at dad's hand when he crosses his arms
  487. (07:47:20) Permafry_42: humongous entertainment did that all the time
  488. (07:47:21) ElaineMarley: Aww stream not working for me :(
  489. (07:47:25) DFAnna: Cheeseness, I thought it might be more fun to have people find out that their puzzle solutions didn't match and have to tell each other *how* they solved the puzzles rather than just give away the solutions
  490. (07:47:25) salty-horse: it appears bent badly
  491. (07:47:29) Cheeseness: ElaineMarley: Try pausing and playing
  492. (07:47:31) thesporkman: Is there anything pyramid shaped on the Prima Doom visuals?
  493. (07:47:48) ElaineMarley: Third time's the charm. Got it now!
  494. (07:48:05) DFAnna: ReidHarrisCooper, there is a special wiring that no one has found yet to my knowledge
  495. (07:48:07) Fhqwhgod: as a chemist I liked the pH balance puzzle
  496. (07:48:08) DFAnna: but just one
  497. (07:48:11) JelDeRebel: can you pause the stream while I make croque monsieur?
  498. (07:48:34) Cheeseness: DFAnna: If that's the achievement related pattern, then there are a couple of people who have it at least (somebody mentioned it in the notes thread)
  499. (07:48:36) ReidHarrisCooper: Anna: Are those also randomized per play though?
  500. (07:48:54) Nataly [Mibbit@C5212176.A78BA1CD.A73F70CA.IP] entered the room.
  501. (07:48:58) Sven_Q45: Random: The wiring but in the end it wasn´t that difficult. But in the end I liked that puzzle! :)
  502. (07:49:05) ElaineMarley: Ooh DFAnna any hints
  503. (07:49:16) thesporkman: The initial ph is randomized too, isn't it?
  504. (07:49:21) ValiantCookie: yeah
  505. (07:49:24) Marius: Man that poor tree
  506. (07:49:34) salty-horse: ok good night and have fun playing. got to go
  507. (07:49:36) ReidHarrisCooper: Wielding, Washing...
  508. (07:49:39) salty-horse left the room (quit: Quit: Leaving).
  509. (07:49:49) thesporkman: That poor, poor tree.
  510. (07:49:50) Permafry_42: if anyone figures it out let me know and I'll be sure to show it on the last stream
  511. (07:50:02) Syd: I like that there was a genuine dialogue puzzle with the tree. I don't really see those too often.
  512. Marius Marykate_The_Behaved
  513. Marius Marykate_The_Behaved
  514. Marius Marykate_The_Behaved
  515. (07:50:08) Sven_Q45: I liked the ph puzzle. And it wasn´t hard.
  516. (07:50:23) ValiantCookie: Syd I like that it has multiple solutions
  517. (07:50:26) thesporkman: The ph puzzle was really clever.
  518. (07:50:43) Fhqwhgod: getting one of the ingrediants was the hard part for me
  519. (07:50:44) Cheeseness: DFAnna, Marius: Do you have a favourite character in the game?
  520. (07:50:46) ValiantCookie: The ph puzzle made me feel smart
  521. (07:50:56) ValiantCookie: trick question, spoon.
  522. (07:50:56) Marius: Oh I dont want to spoil the dialog-puzzle, but this kind of puzzle we wanted to implement in Host Master 2
  523. (07:50:59) Syd: The tree never really catches a break
  524. (07:51:04) JelDeRebel: that tree is my favourite character so far
  525. (07:51:04) ElaineMarley: I love that there quite a few educational bits of dialogue and puzzles in Broken Age
  526. (07:51:12) JelDeRebel: does the tree have a name?
  527. (07:51:17) ReidHarrisCooper: Host Master 2!
  528. (07:51:21) thesporkman: I can't wait for Mostly Walking to play the game. Bill's going to love the tree puns.
  529. (07:51:26) DFAnna: my favorite is spoon
  530. (07:51:30) BadAsp: Tell me how you really feel about her, Dialogue tree
  531. (07:51:41) JaceTachi left the room (quit: Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client).
  532. (07:51:41) ReidHarrisCooper: That's what DoubleFine needs to do more of : Mini flash games on the site!
  533. (07:51:41) Cheeseness: Tree jokes are hard
  534. (07:51:46) Marius: By the way DFAnna polished the dialog in Host Master 2
  535. (07:51:49) Nemoder: the tree jokes were really.. sappy
  536. (07:52:00) DFAnna: :D! it was my pleasure
  537. (07:52:46) JelDeRebel: i thin ksome itemis missing XD
  538. (07:52:53) JelDeRebel: i think some item is missing
  539. (07:53:04) thesporkman: Broken Age 2 should be about the Dialogue Tree leading an uprising against the humans.
  540. (07:53:04) Cheeseness: Host Master 2 is great :D
  541. (07:53:06) ValiantCookie: #1 irritation, when you are trying to move between Meriloft and Shellmound quickly, and from shellmound you can see the exit and double click you way fast. but from meriloft it takes forever to walk, esp. out of the house
  542. (07:53:16) ReidHarrisCooper: I believe our streamer knows how to beat the game. He's just giving a full experience
  543. (07:53:25) Cheeseness: Yeah, Permafry has finished the game before
  544. (07:53:31) Nataly: I just loved the idea of Mr. Huggy
  545. (07:53:32) KingMarth [chatzilla@hide-324E8F29.cg.shawcable.net] entered the room.
  546. KingMarth kisak
  547. (07:53:42) Marius: My favorite character: One of the knitted-friends in the train-puzzle, who screams "I'M SURE HE HAD HIS REASONS!" while falling down a pit.
  548. (07:53:47) Cheeseness: Hi KingMarth
  549. (07:53:52) ValiantCookie: Lol
  550. (07:53:54) Cheeseness: Hi Nataly
  551. (07:53:56) Nemoder: this puzzle here got me stuck longer than any other
  552. (07:53:59) Syd: Shay is too good at hugs for the snake
  553. (07:54:02) ValiantCookie: I gotta go :( happy adventuring everyone
  554. (07:54:03) Nataly: Hi Cheeseness
  555. (07:54:05) Cheeseness: It took me a while to work this one out
  556. (07:54:08) BadAsp: I figured out this one
  557. (07:54:12) JelDeRebel: now blow that horn
  558. (07:54:13) ReidHarrisCooper: There were no hints to this puzzle
  559. (07:54:13) Cheeseness: Have fun, ValiantCookie! Thanks for stopping by
  560. (07:54:16) Syd: As soon as I stuck around long enough to see the snake start getting tired it clicked for me
  561. (07:54:20) ReidHarrisCooper: Jel: Nope...
  562. (07:54:23) KingMarth: Heya. Yeah, this one helped me get past a stuck area
  563. (07:54:26) Fhqwhgod: I did it first try
  564. (07:54:33) Nemoder: i didn't figure it out, i just wanted shay to die at this point :s
  565. (07:54:34) thesporkman: I love what's beyond the snake.
  566. (07:54:35) ValiantCookie: Syd, I was just hoping for another achievement haha
  567. (07:54:41) Nataly: I noticed him breathing heavily really quick. Plus I always try to see if I can "die" :P
  568. (07:55:00) CecilRousso: oper: There were like six or seven hints to this puzzle. Not sure if all were intentional from DF, but I think I saw that many signs pointing to this solution.
  569. (07:55:05) Cheeseness: I feel like this, and the tree joke puzzle both lend themselves toward being more discoverable to people who appreciate the game's writing
  570. (07:55:08) ElaineMarley: Yeah thesporkman i loved that too
  571. (07:55:12) Marius: The snake puzzle: I like how Shay is howing his love for "real" danger here again.
  572. (07:55:26) thesporkman: The snake puzzle was the first one I solved, before even visiting most of the areas.
  573. (07:55:53) ReidHarrisCooper: The only disappointing to this was I really wanted to see more Shellmound
  574. (07:55:55) Permafry_42: swap!
  575. (07:55:56) Marius: "howing"? what did I want to write there?
  576. (07:56:00) JelDeRebel: now if we could jump down that cliff
  577. (07:56:08) Sven_Q45: First I didn´t know you just have to wait a bit at the snake. :D
  578. (07:56:13) ReidHarrisCooper: Anna: Was there Shellmound that was cut? Or was this always the plan?
  579. (07:56:22) NatalyE [natalye@C5212176.A78BA1CD.A73F70CA.IP] entered the room.
  580. (07:56:24) CecilRousso: Oh, I forgot using the snake with the rest of the inventory. :\ Lot's of missed dialogue there I assume.
  581. (07:56:53) Cheeseness: But who is *behind* sweetie pie?
  582. (07:56:53) KingMarth: Sweetie Pie makes much more sense as a name to someone from Sugar Bunting, I take it
  583. (07:56:54) Sven_Q45: Marius You wanted to write showing. ;)
  584. (07:57:01) Marius: aaaah
  585. (07:57:02) Marykate_The_Behaved: WHO IS BEHIND SWEETIE PIE?
  586. (07:57:03) Marius: thanks
  587. (07:57:05) Marius: haha
  588. (07:57:06) DFAnna: i don't actually think anything at all was cut except stuff that didn't really make sense in the story
  589. (07:57:07) Marykate_The_Behaved: I had a dream about that...
  590. (07:57:31) ***Marykate_The_Behaved is going back to behaving.... but that was NOT my fault
  591. (07:57:39) Marykate_The_Behaved: OR IT'S ALL HEAD
  592. (07:57:40) Sven_Q45: Marius First I thought: What is "howing." :D
  593. (07:57:47) Marykate_The_Behaved: ...Sorry.
  594. (07:57:48) thesporkman: I love that the characters all project their own genders on to the hexipals.
  595. (07:58:00) ReidHarrisCooper: DFAnna: Actually something WAS cut because the puzzle was changed/rearranged, but I was told to keep this info off till a later chat.
  596. (07:58:11) ***Marykate_The_Behaved apologizes again.
  597. (07:58:14) ElaineMarley: I love how Shay thinks of the Hexipals as male and Vella and Rocky as female.
  598. (07:58:31) Cheeseness: So, Vella refers to all the hexipals as female, and Shay refers to all of them as male. I interpret them as characters projecting their own impressions rather than the hexipals having inherent gender within the game
  599. (07:59:12) DFAnna: ReidHarrisCooper, really? i'm not sure which puzzle you mean. we def changed a lot of stuff as we were developing but
  600. (07:59:23) ValiantCookie left the room (quit: Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client).
  601. (07:59:25) CecilRousso: Mom sounds like a mob boss when dutch talks about her.
  602. (07:59:29) ElaineMarley: In Act 1 the Druids mention a battle of Volgentoll between Mogs and humans. Where did that come from? Is it like the word Gemethys which came from Alex saying "Get me this!".
  603. (07:59:36) Cheeseness: Everything sounds mob related when Dutch talks
  604. (07:59:45) ReidHarrisCooper: Anna: I'll DM you cause it was a conversation I had with Tim.
  605. (07:59:49) thesporkman: In some of the knife's lines, Nick slips into his Max voice. :D
  606. (08:00:15) CecilRousso: I wish I had a voice like that. Very few things sound mob related when you're swedish.
  607. (08:00:31) KingMarth: The crying faces are kind of creepy. Unfortunately you can't change all of them
  608. (08:00:35) Sven_Q45: Nick Jameson and Jennifer Hale. Reasons to play it in English. :D
  609. (08:00:56) BadAsp: Sven_Q45 2 out of 20
  610. (08:00:59) BadAsp: reasons
  611. (08:01:17) Sven_Q45: BadAsp Ok... :D
  612. Marius Marykate_The_Behaved
  613. Marius Marykate_The_Behaved
  614. (08:01:30) Syd: I think the entire English cast is great. :)
  615. (08:01:42) Fhqwhgod left the room (quit: Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client).
  616. (08:01:44) Cheeseness: Marius: What sort of stuff have you been up to since leaving Double Fine?
  617. (08:01:45) Marius: Totally
  618. (08:01:54) Marius: CRYING
  619. (08:02:06) Cheeseness: Aww <3
  620. (08:02:07) Nataly left the room (quit: Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client).
  621. (08:02:08) Marius: No I finished school just a month ago actually
  622. (08:02:14) ReidHarrisCooper: Marius also has been making great games
  623. (08:02:20) Cheeseness: And a documentary \o/
  624. (08:02:20) NatalyE: switched to another client :)
  625. (08:02:26) ReidHarrisCooper: Marius: Wait... how did that fit into the tour?
  626. (08:02:33) Marius: I teamed up with Benedikt Hummel and we gave us the name Major Bueno and made flash games.
  627. (08:02:47) NatalyE: but I actually have to go to sleep, so enjoy the game all!
  628. (08:02:54) Cheeseness: Thanks for coming, NatalyE :)
  629. (08:03:12) Marius: Last January and February we did a roadtrip through europe, visiting 11 european Indies and make 11 games. And there are 11 web-episodes.
  630. (08:03:13) ReidHarrisCooper: HAHA!
  631. (08:03:24) ReidHarrisCooper: Man, when the game gets so dark and adult..
  632. (08:03:29) NatalyE: Maybe next week I'll be able to stay longer :) good night!
  633. (08:03:47) Sven_Q45: shame
  634. (08:03:55) Marius: ReidHarrisCooper: the tour was my diploma-project, so a part of school.
  635. (08:04:27) ReidHarrisCooper: Marius: What if any are there chances of having Tour Bueno be a Physical product? is that possible with all the teamups even?
  636. (08:04:27) Cheeseness: DFAnna: Did you tweet some stats about the number of assets in Act 2 (acts 2 and 3 I guess) a while back? I seem to recall seeing some numbers about sprite counts and hours of dialogue, but I can't put my hands on them
  637. (08:04:44) Permafry_42: vella can be pretty mean
  638. (08:04:48) NatalyE is now known as Nataly_AFK
  639. (08:04:51) BadAsp: I like when Vella tries to impersonate Shay's voice
  640. (08:04:56) Cheeseness: Vella has no remorse or accountability \o/
  641. (08:04:57) DFAnna: Cheeseness, I think Oliver did. I can try to track it down
  642. (08:05:00) flesk: Marius: Didn't know you made a documentary. I followed the updates on Twitter though.
  643. (08:05:02) BadAsp: And she's barely even met him! XD
  644. (08:05:43) Marius: ReidHarrisCooper: For now the games and the documentaries are all free the play/watch online. I dont think we will make a physical version of that for now.
  645. (08:06:02) Cheeseness: It's interesting that Marek recognises her
  646. (08:06:04) ReidHarrisCooper: I'm not really sure what happens in terms of Mom not believing Vella and then... doing so cause... reasons.
  647. (08:06:09) Cheeseness: It suggests that he had the ability to see more than Shay did
  648. (08:06:09) KingMarth: "I'm sorry I pretended to be Shay, but it was easier than convincing you I was me."
  649. (08:06:26) Marius: You can find it all on tourbueno.com :) Sadly, the servers aren't the best, and loading times might be long. It helps a bit to click on the HD-button, which will turn HD off and speeds up the loading
  650. (08:06:47) thesporkman: I love how all of the "creatures" were caricatures of the real maidens.
  651. (08:06:47) ReidHarrisCooper: Cheese: Marek obviously had a view screen that showed what was really happening outside the ship but doesn't explain the reasons for the "attacks"
  652. (08:07:03) JelDeRebel: soo how many more df club nights is this going to take?
  653. (08:07:13) Cheeseness: JelDeRebel: We have 4 sessions planned
  654. (08:07:34) JelDeRebel: plenty of time to atch up i guess
  655. (08:07:35) Sven_Q45: Yeah 4 sessions!!
  656. (08:07:52) ReidHarrisCooper: DFAnna: How do you personally feel about some of the very left open questions to Broken Age plot/story?
  657. (08:07:52) Cheeseness: ReidHarrisCooper: Maybe, or maybe he'd been in communication with other characters in Vella's world
  658. (08:08:01) Sven_Q45: Majus Did you do animation for Act 1?
  659. (08:08:07) Sven_Q45: +s
  660. (08:08:36) Cheeseness: 7.6 hours of cutscenes https://twitter.com/p1xelcoder/status/567784404963045376
  661. (08:08:40) DFAnna: ReidHarrisCooper i think it was meant to be "hey they built a bridge, there are so many possibilities and so much hope now". i felt like it was just wrapped up enough, personally
  662. (08:08:55) DFAnna: it left things open to interpretation while wrapping things up where it was necessary
  663. (08:09:02) Marius: Sven_Q45: Yes actually! When I started the internship, Ray teached me a bit of Maya. I did some animations for some maidens in the maidens feast
  664. (08:09:10) JelDeRebel: and to milk it with sequels
  665. (08:09:12) JelDeRebel: nahj/k
  666. (08:09:15) Marius: For example the water-maiden-idle-animation :)
  667. (08:09:33) ReidHarrisCooper: Marius: You did the animatics for the original teaser that 2 Player produced didn;t you?
  668. (08:09:48) Syd: Marek's voice ever-so-vaguely reminds me of Alan Rickman, though I can't quite put my finger on why.
  669. (08:09:56) Syd: It's just something about the way he talks
  670. (08:09:58) Marius: I tested my first maya-aniamtions on the lumberjack :) I remember doing walk- and run-cycles, but also there was one where a ball hits his head and he looks confused :)
  671. (08:10:14) Cheeseness: Syd: A bit of nasalness maybe?
  672. (08:10:30) CecilRousso: If Starwars has taught us anything, it's that it's always preferable to explain less then expected then too much in a story. #Midichlorians
  673. (08:10:35) ElaineMarley: Syd It reminds you of Snape's voice in Potter Puppet Pals
  674. (08:10:43) Permafry_42: i love the pictures
  675. (08:10:47) GameClubFan_200462 [Mibbit@5AC689FF.D5F046F0.D11C9110.IP] entered the room.
  676. (08:10:53) ReidHarrisCooper: Anna: Okay... I accept that answer. It fits to Tim's style of writing to many of his games as well, not wanting to be so direct to allow the viewer to make decisions based on their own world view, experiences from life and other media
  677. (08:11:05) Syd: ElaineMarley: Yeah, it's probably a bit closer to that than Alan Rickman. :P
  678. (08:11:08) Marius: ReidHarrisCooper: Yes, they asked me to do an animatic for the first teaser, that was neat :)
  679. (08:11:20) Cheeseness: Was that the 90,000 friends teaser?
  680. (08:11:25) ReidHarrisCooper: Marek actually is one of the most polished voice actors in Video Game History
  681. (08:11:27) Cheeseness: Or the one before that?
  682. (08:11:29) ReidHarrisCooper: and Anime
  683. (08:11:37) GameClubFan_034787 [Mibbit@5AC689FF.D5F046F0.D11C9110.IP] entered the room.
  684. (08:11:51) Cheeseness: Who here made their own notes for this puzzle
  685. (08:12:13) flesk: I did.
  686. (08:12:22) Permafry_42: made notes for the wiring puzzle, that was time consuming
  687. (08:12:27) ReidHarrisCooper: I took some notes Cheese and on second playthrough discovered something
  688. (08:12:29) thesporkman: I thought all the shoe clues stood out a little too much. It would have been nice if they were buried among other more random tidbits. As it is, it seems like Shay was REALLY obsessed with shoes.
  689. (08:12:30) Syd: I did as well, though I had to brute-force the color because I couldn't nail that variable.
  690. (08:12:30) Sven_Q45: I didn´t make any notes. :D But I should have. :D
  691. (08:12:33) ReidHarrisCooper: Mom tells you the answer!
  692. (08:12:36) Marius: Cheeseness: There was the friends line, but I believe it was still the first teaser
  693. (08:12:36) Permafry_42: i'll probably have to do that again on the 4th session
  694. (08:13:07) ReidHarrisCooper: Perma: No... you don't... Mom gives you the answer!
  695. (08:13:07) CecilRousso: Got pattern and color right here, but had to make notes and think a lot to get the size right.
  696. (08:13:25) ReidHarrisCooper: You really didn't need much guess work
  697. (08:13:31) Cheeseness: ReidHarrisCooper: Permafry is talking about the wiring puzzles
  698. (08:13:47) ReidHarrisCooper: Oh... yeah... randomness means notes every playthrough
  699. (08:13:52) Cheeseness: :)
  700. (08:13:55) ReidHarrisCooper: NO
  701. (08:13:58) ReidHarrisCooper: wrong way
  702. (08:14:02) ReidHarrisCooper: Bad Permafry
  703. (08:14:08) thesporkman: Sometimes when you go through Nadine, Vella calls her "Mel."
  704. (08:14:21) ReidHarrisCooper: You did it wrong Permafry
  705. (08:14:25) Cheeseness: For anybody who's finished the game, there's a thread here where people have been sharing their notes http://www.doublefine.com/forums/viewthread/16940/
  706. (08:14:41) DFAnna: i've seen 2 playtesters solve all the puzzles without taking notes and it was downright freaky :D i needed to take notes while testing
  707. (08:14:45) KingMarth: Permafry's going for maximum content, not fastest completion
  708. (08:14:46) ReidHarrisCooper: there you go!
  709. (08:14:54) ReidHarrisCooper: No
  710. (08:14:57) ReidHarrisCooper: Not yet
  711. (08:15:09) Sven_Q45: DFAnna Shame I only tested Act 1.
  712. (08:15:17) Cheeseness: I didn't take many notes. The ones I put up on the forums were a little embellished. I had the wiring patterns committed to memory
  713. (08:15:21) ReidHarrisCooper: Permafry back to through the teleporter in the front
  714. (08:15:29) ReidHarrisCooper: No
  715. (08:15:34) ReidHarrisCooper: NO!
  716. (08:15:40) ReidHarrisCooper: Permafry.... wrong way!
  717. (08:15:42) Cheeseness: It's OK :)
  718. (08:16:01) flesk: Did you stop to look at the view in the bedroom? I really liked that.
  719. (08:16:07) Permafry_42: yes =D
  720. (08:16:13) ReidHarrisCooper: did that work?
  721. (08:16:15) Cheeseness: Yep
  722. (08:16:18) Syd: ReidHarrisCooper: Remember that there's something like a 30 second delay to the stream. Perma would be seeing your warnings well after he's taken the action. :P
  723. (08:16:19) ReidHarrisCooper: Oh it did work that way too?
  724. (08:16:22) Sven_Q45: Yes
  725. (08:16:35) ReidHarrisCooper: I always went the other way!
  726. (08:16:43) flesk: How objects transform when going from "space" to the real view and back.
  727. (08:17:00) Cheeseness: flesk: It's a nice effect, ywah
  728. (08:17:19) BadAsp: This took me a long while to answer
  729. (08:17:27) DFAnna: Cheeseness i believe it :D but i'm happy that you posted the notes all the same. i love that thread on the forums. it's like people sharing their inner thoughts about these puzzles i was making for ages
  730. (08:17:30) Syd: Butt-Butt!
  731. (08:17:33) Sven_Q45: flesk Didn´t know that.-
  732. (08:17:33) thesporkman: Yeah, that seagull that turns into an asteroid in Shay's room is awesome.
  733. (08:17:46) ElaineMarley: I answered this correctly based purely on Shay's personality
  734. (08:17:48) JelDeRebel: mr. huggy o_O
  735. (08:17:49) BadAsp: I saw the picture of Shay with the toy snake
  736. (08:17:56) BadAsp: And he called the snake Mr. Huggy
  737. (08:17:58) Cheeseness: DFAnna: It's been great to see different people's approaches to stuff in that thread!
  738. (08:18:01) flesk: I think you see it in other rooms too, but that's where it's most noticable.
  739. (08:18:10) BadAsp: I thought like Shay would when I answered question 2
  740. (08:18:24) BadAsp: This one I had to write notes
  741. (08:18:36) ReidHarrisCooper: keep things fresh by never repeating a color or a pattern
  742. (08:18:51) ReidHarrisCooper: so the only hard thing is the size without the clues
  743. (08:19:04) DFAnna: true story about this dialog tree -- i sent Tim a last-minute email to ask Jennifer Hale to record all the responses because i misread Tim's intentions with it. we used her recordings because it was so funny to hear her say them
  744. (08:19:05) Cheeseness: Permafry_42: Aww, we could've gotten it wrong a couple of times
  745. (08:19:11) thesporkman: Those solid blue boots broke your son's heart! He wanted red with skulls! Damn your system!
  746. (08:19:14) DFAnna: "mr... butt but"
  747. (08:19:20) DFAnna: butt*
  748. (08:19:32) Cheeseness: :D
  749. (08:19:42) Permafry_42: awwh sorry forgot about doing it wrong; my bad XC
  750. (08:19:43) KingMarth: The size was one of the easiest for me, the medical report clue was one of the longest so it stands out
  751. (08:19:52) ReidHarrisCooper: Now I need to replay it just to hear all THAT
  752. (08:20:00) BadAsp: The medical report confused me
  753. (08:20:10) Sven_Q45: Bastila! :D
  754. (08:20:13) Cheeseness: The medical report is the clue for the black and white photo
  755. (08:20:19) Cheeseness: Since that has a shoe size on it
  756. (08:20:23) thesporkman: Jennifer Hale says "Chothra" a lot differently than the other characters.
  757. (08:20:34) DFAnna: it's true, she does
  758. (08:20:35) Sven_Q45: She did?
  759. (08:21:01) DFAnna: have all of you played the game already?
  760. (08:21:04) Syd: Marekai reveal, dun-dun-duuun
  761. (08:21:08) ReidHarrisCooper: I want to see Marek's trumpet costume
  762. (08:21:14) Cheeseness: DFAnna: There are some people who haven't finished the game yet
  763. (08:21:19) BadAsp: When I saw that reveal I was like "Oh he's DEFINITELY a villain"
  764. (08:21:21) Permafry_42: so I'll be ending today's stream after this cutscene, to end it on a twist
  765. (08:21:22) DFAnna: oh i see
  766. (08:21:28) Cheeseness: We're going to try to keep discussion most about the stuff that we're covering during each session
  767. (08:21:32) Cheeseness: mostly^
  768. (08:21:40) KingMarth: I'm pretty sure that you need to get the shoe color by elimination, so it relies on having four color options where you know it can't be three of them
  769. (08:21:48) Sven_Q45: DFAnna I did today.
  770. (08:21:58) DFAnna: ah, cool :D
  771. (08:21:59) ReidHarrisCooper: I finished it 3 times so far...
  772. (08:22:05) DFAnna: whoa!
  773. (08:22:09) thesporkman: I like the little skull on the bottom. Something very Grim about it.
  774. (08:22:12) Cheeseness: So, I wonder how old Marekai is
  775. (08:22:14) ReidHarrisCooper: and then I played to get screen shots for fan art drawings
  776. (08:22:14) ElaineMarley: 3 times as well
  777. (08:22:28) Sven_Q45: thesporkman Dito.
  778. (08:22:29) Permafry_42: that way we can have enough stuff to do over the next 3 streams
  779. (08:22:30) CecilRousso: Beat the game today, Navigating through the forums to avoid spoilers have been a bit difficult the last couple of weeks.
  780. (08:22:31) ElaineMarley: Got all achievements :)
  781. (08:22:33) ReidHarrisCooper: Marekai is at least 500 years old
  782. (08:22:35) DFAnna: ReidHarrisCooper have you tried the speed run?
