- I don't know if this could be logistically pulled off but I'd love if it was.
- Please give feedback, even if it's just on some small details of the post.
- Note: This is a first draft.
- Basically, I'd love to see a tournament based on the geographic location of the players combined with a League System. I think that this could very well be associated witht the Prime Time System.
- Format
- 1. Match dates
- For this i will take one year as an example starting in September 2015 and lasting until September 2016.
- We would have 2 seasons a year. The first one starting in September 2015 and lasting until Mid-December 2015.
- Then, there would be a 1 and a half month pause, in which a regular OCN Tournament could fit in. ( Mid-December 2015-End of January 2016).
- The second season would start at the beginning of February 2016 and lasting until the end of May 2016.
- Then, there would be a 3 months pause (Start of June 2016-End of August 2016), in which again, a regular OCN Tournament could fit in.
- This would leave us with two big Tournaments, which is something the Event Coordinators could pull off without needing to rush any dates.
- 1.1 Season 1 (September 2015-Mid-December 2015)
- This Season would last 14 weeks, which leaves us with 14 weekends, so 28 playdays.
- The amount of Teams will determine the amount of matches per day, but the matches will be split between Saturday and Sunday.
- The matches would start as follows:
- - Saturday 6AM EDT (For AU)
- - Saturday 10AM EDT (For Eu)
- - Saturday 2PM EDT (For NA/SA)
- This schedule would be repeated with the same times on sunday.
- The first 12 weeks (24 playdays) would be used for group matches.
- Week 13 would be used for Continental Finals. (I'll go into that later in the post)
- Week 14 would be used for Intercontinental Finals. (Same as above)
- 1.2 Season 2 (February 2016-End of May 2016)
- This Season would last 16 weeks, which leaves us with 16 weekends, so 32 playdays.
- The match times would be the same than for season 1 but could be modified to accomodate to teams.
- The first 14 weeks would be used for group matches.
- 2. Players
- Now, let me come to the (for me) most interesting part of this idea, the Teams. As I said at the start of this post I would love the League/Season system to be combined with the geographic location of the participants.
- So how would this work ? Sadly, I do not have the data to make this as precise as I'd like it to be, but here's a first draft.
- 2.1 Confederations
- We split the globe in 4 "confederations".
- Northern America (Canada + USA), Southern America (Latin America+Central America+Mexico) I added Mexico to Southern America for practical reasons (mostly streaming), EU and AU (Australia, New Zealand, Indonesia etc.)
- 2.2 Groups
- These 4 "confederations" will be split into groups, depending on the amount of teams that will register for each of them.
- The groups for season 1 will consist of 13 teams. Each team will play the 12 others, one a week.
- The groups for season 2 will consist of 15 teams. Each team will play the 14 others, one a week.*
- I hope we would get at least 2 groups for each confederation, if not AU would have to be added to one of the other confederation.
- 2.3. Teams
- Now to the interesting part of this section.
- All of the players in their respective team will have to come exclusively from the confederation they sign up for.
- For this to work I would personally like to use the 8v8 Format with roster sizes of maximum 16 players.
- 2.4 Continental and Intercontinental Finals
- As you might have noticed, the last 2 weeks are reserved for Finals.
- - Continental Finals: The first 2 teams of each group (within a confederation) qualify for this and battle it out to qualify for the Intercontinental Finals.
- Depending on the number of groups in each Confederation this can be more or less interesting.
- - Intercontinental Finals: The winner of each Continental Final (4 teams) battle it out in a Mini-Tourney to claim the OCN League Title.
- 3. Matches and Results
- The placings within the groups will be decided by points. A win gives the team 3 points, a tie 1 point and a loss 0 points.
- 4. Gamemodes/Maps
- There would still be a lot of work to be done for this section but basically, everything OCN has to offer.
- It would be ideal to have a playtime between 90 minutes and 2 hours for each team, so maybe a BO3 DTC (45 mins) + CTW (45 mins) + CTF/TDM/CTP (30 mins) ? But I'm unsure if OCN has the map ressources to pull this off.
