1. I don't know if this could be logistically pulled off but I'd love if it was.
2. Please give feedback, even if it's just on some small details of the post.
3. Note: This is a first draft.
4.
5. Basically, I'd love to see a tournament based on the geographic location of the players combined with a League System. I think that this could very well be associated witht the Prime Time System.
6.
7. Format
8.
9. 1. Match dates
10.
11. For this i will take one year as an example starting in September 2015 and lasting until September 2016.
12. We would have 2 seasons a year. The first one starting in September 2015 and lasting until Mid-December 2015.
13. Then, there would be a 1 and a half month pause, in which a regular OCN Tournament could fit in. ( Mid-December 2015-End of January 2016).
14. The second season would start at the beginning of February 2016 and lasting until the end of May 2016.
15. Then, there would be a 3 months pause (Start of June 2016-End of August 2016), in which again, a regular OCN Tournament could fit in.
16. This would leave us with two big Tournaments, which is something the Event Coordinators could pull off without needing to rush any dates.
17.
18. 1.1 Season 1 (September 2015-Mid-December 2015)
19.
20. This Season would last 14 weeks, which leaves us with 14 weekends, so 28 playdays.
21. The amount of Teams will determine the amount of matches per day, but the matches will be split between Saturday and Sunday.
22. The matches would start as follows:
23. - Saturday 6AM EDT (For AU)
24. - Saturday 10AM EDT (For Eu)
25. - Saturday 2PM EDT (For NA/SA)
26. This schedule would be repeated with the same times on sunday.
27. The first 12 weeks (24 playdays) would be used for group matches.
28. Week 13 would be used for Continental Finals. (I'll go into that later in the post)
29. Week 14 would be used for Intercontinental Finals. (Same as above)
30.
31. 1.2 Season 2 (February 2016-End of May 2016)
32.
33. This Season would last 16 weeks, which leaves us with 16 weekends, so 32 playdays.
34. The match times would be the same than for season 1 but could be modified to accomodate to teams.
35. The first 14 weeks would be used for group matches.
36.
37.
38. 2. Players
39.
40. Now, let me come to the (for me) most interesting part of this idea, the Teams. As I said at the start of this post I would love the League/Season system to be combined with the geographic location of the participants.
41. So how would this work ? Sadly, I do not have the data to make this as precise as I'd like it to be, but here's a first draft.
42.
43. 2.1 Confederations
44.
45. We split the globe in 4 "confederations".
46. Northern America (Canada + USA), Southern America (Latin America+Central America+Mexico) I added Mexico to Southern America for practical reasons (mostly streaming), EU and AU (Australia, New Zealand, Indonesia etc.)
47.
48. 2.2 Groups
49. These 4 "confederations" will be split into groups, depending on the amount of teams that will register for each of them.
50. The groups for season 1 will consist of 13 teams. Each team will play the 12 others, one a week.
51. The groups for season 2 will consist of 15 teams. Each team will play the 14 others, one a week.*
52. I hope we would get at least 2 groups for each confederation, if not AU would have to be added to one of the other confederation.
53.
54. 2.3. Teams
55.
56. Now to the interesting part of this section.
57. All of the players in their respective team will have to come exclusively from the confederation they sign up for.
58. For this to work I would personally like to use the 8v8 Format with roster sizes of maximum 16 players.
59.
60. 2.4 Continental and Intercontinental Finals
61.
62. As you might have noticed, the last 2 weeks are reserved for Finals.
63. - Continental Finals: The first 2 teams of each group (within a confederation) qualify for this and battle it out to qualify for the Intercontinental Finals.
64. Depending on the number of groups in each Confederation this can be more or less interesting.
65. - Intercontinental Finals: The winner of each Continental Final (4 teams) battle it out in a Mini-Tourney to claim the OCN League Title.
66.
67. 3. Matches and Results
68.
69. The placings within the groups will be decided by points. A win gives the team 3 points, a tie 1 point and a loss 0 points.
70.
71. 4. Gamemodes/Maps
72.
73. There would still be a lot of work to be done for this section but basically, everything OCN has to offer.
74. It would be ideal to have a playtime between 90 minutes and 2 hours for each team, so maybe a BO3 DTC (45 mins) + CTW (45 mins) + CTF/TDM/CTP (30 mins) ? But I'm unsure if OCN has the map ressources to pull this off.
