  1. >”Rage:
  2. >Sing, Pony, Anon's rage,
  3. >Black and murderous, that cost Equestria
  4. >Incalculable pain, pitched countless souls
  5. >Of ponies into Luna's dark,
  6. >And left their bodies to lie as feasts
  7. >For Manticores and Hydra, as Discord's will was done.”
  8.
  9. >You stand, doubled over in pain as you try to
  10. >The mangled remnants of the Castle lie smoking around you
  11. >Guards are strewn about, their wills broken; their armor smashed
  12. >Your heart hurts. Christ, why does it hurt so much?
  13. >Your feel something else. Your hand comes up to your face and you notice the tears
  14. >How did it come to such an end? You had such happiness here
  15. >An image appears in your mind
  16. >Celestia.
  17. >You're such a fool; it was too good to be true. You realize that now
  18. >Of course it had all been a lie. A way to hold you without you needing to know
  19. >Everything up until now was a lie
  20. >Your home here, your life, your friends...
  21. >You let out an involuntary sob, gritting your teeth
  22. >'Where are they now? Are they safe?'
  23. >What do you care? That was just another lie.
  24. >You look up. She's here.
  25. >Your anger wells up like a wave. She'll pay.
  26. 1/x
  27.
  28. >Day 731 in Ponyville
  29. >The sun is blazing in the sky. Celestia's light is strong
  30. >It's been two years since you came here.
  31. >Pinkie Pie threw you a party yesterday to celebrate, her biggest yet
  32. >You stayed up all night, drinking and laughing with your friends
  33. >Now it's morning and you're heading over to the cafe to meet up with Rainbow Dash and Twilight
  34. >This place has been so good to you. These ponies were hesitant to let you in at first, but you recall how at ease they seemed after you returned from Canterlot that first week
  35. >How Celestia had looked you over and deemed you ok to stay in Equestria
  36. >The ponies welcomed you with open arms on your return
  37. >You arrive at the cafe to see Rainbow and Twilight smiling in your direction
  38. >Sit down and you get to talking with your friends
  39. >”I can't believe it's only been two years since you moved here, Anon. It feels like we've known each other forever”
  40. >Rainbow WAS the first pony you met when you wandered out of the Forest
  41. >You feel a twinge in your head as you remember the first day
  42. >You remember feeling it yesterday too, during the party
  43. >Must be a little hung-over
  44. Yeah, that first week was crazy. If it weren't for you six I don't know if I'd have stayed in Ponyville long enough to get Celestia's OK
  45. >There's that headache again. Man you must've drank more than you thought
  46. >Twilight flags down a waiter
  47. >”Excuse me...”
  48. 2/x
  49.
  50. >Inexcusable
  51. >She'll pay for what she did to you
  52. >”Anonymous-” The Princess starts but you cut her off, your words like a growl
  53. Shut up. I don't want your excuses
  54. >Your fury grows. Your head throbs.
  55. >Celestia's kind eyes gouge at you. They're full of pity. So knowing...
  56. >You launch yourself at her
  57. I know what you did! I know what you did to me! To the others!
  58. >Your voice is a roar. She looks at you, shocked at the display
  59. >Her eyes show resignation now as she flits out of your path
  60. >Your landing shatters the ground. The pillars around you crumble and fall
  61. >”Anon! Listen to me!” Her voice flies up from across the Throne Room
  62. >She'll pay
  63. >Canterlot is in shambles
  64. >You don't want to hear her excuses. Her lies
  65. >You'll bring her whole damn charade crashing down
  66. >”ANON!” She yells
  67. >You throw yourself at her again.
  68. >There's no time. You collide with the Princess of the Sun and send the both of you through the crumbling wall of the castle
  69. >She looks at you, pained, before disappearing from your grip
  70. >You hit the ground. Hard.
  71. >Celestia appears in front of you again
  72. >”Anon, stop...”
  73. 3/x
  74.
  75. >”Stop it! Stop, you're killing me!” Rainbow is falling out of her seat laughing at your recounting of the last night
  76. ...and then we see Berry Punch, and she's totally wasted at this point, so she's about as coordinated as Derpy...
  77. >The waiter brings you the check. Twilight picks up the tab, laughing at your and Rainbow's antics
  78. >The three of you leave the cafe and go your separate ways. You decide to head home and nurse this headache
  79. >Arriving at your house you realize that your headache is gone. That's weird, but you can't complain about not having a headache
  80. >Go out for a walk on the outskirts of Ponyville
  81. >Thoughts all to yourself, your mind drifts aimlessly as you wander
  82. >Before you know it, you're within view of the Everfree Forest
  83. >You stare at the dark treeline for a time before realizing that you're walking towards it
  84. >Pound
  85. >Your hand flies to your head as you wince at the headache
  86. >You look back up at the Forest
  87. >You're drawn to it. A curiosity overcomes you and you set off into the uncharted territory
  88. >Something is out there, calling you closer
  89. >Your headache eases off the further you push
  90. >Focusing on an unknown point off in the distance, you walk faster and faster
  91. >It's dark here even though it's the middle of the day
  92. >What you'd give for a little light
  93. 4/x
  94.
  95. >Celestia's light is blinding as she attempts to surround you in her magic
  96. >Not going to happen, Princess. Not again
  97. >You push back with all of your will
  98. >The light recedes despite the Princess's effort
  99. >You force her back as you rise from where you fell
  100. >She's looking at you with those pitying eyes again, but there's something else there now
  101. >Fear? Realization? You don't care
  102. >It's that pity that enrages you now. Those kind eyes that cause such fury
  103. >You roar again as you lunge
  104. >You're halfway to the Princess when she disappears yet again, only to reappear to your right
  105. >A bolt of magic hits you in the side, sending you a few yards
  106. >Look at the Princess. Her horn is down, glowing brightly
  107. >”Don't make me do this, Anon.” Still pleading, still with that pitying, knowing tone...
  108. >She'll pay
  109. >That thought keeps playing in your mind
  110. >She'll pay
  111. >Bring it all down
  112. >Unforgivable
  113. >Lies
  114. >Secrets
  115. >No excuse
  116. >Your rage burns. Tears sting your face and your heart tears at your chest
  117. >A shockwave rushes from your body, pushing back everything around you
  118. >Celestia braces against the air forced against her
  119. 5/x
  120.
  121. >You press on against the sudden strong wind
  122. >Determination pushes you onward
  123. >Through the trees, the boulders, and the broken remnants of forgotten castles
  124. >In one of the ruins you pass an abandoned campsite
  125. >It's old, but not nearly as old as the ruin
  126. >You stop to examine it
  127. >Your head throbs again as a sense of deja-vu comes over you
  128. >Staggering back, you turn to the Forest once again
  129. >Push on. You have to push on.
  130. >You leave the ruin, more determined than ever to continue
  131. >The sun is setting
  132. >You don't care. Keep going
  133. >Your eyes are locked on the horizon now
  134. >You can feel your goal getting closer
  135. >Just a little further
  136. >You reach a clearing
  137. >This is it. You know it. You're drawn to the center. To a ruin. There's something there
  138. >You reach the ruin and look
  139. >The throbbing in your head drops you to the ground as you black out
  140. 6/x
  141.
  142. >You shake off the blackness that came over you with the sudden release of anger
  143. >Pointing at Celestia, your speak
  144. You knew! You knew the whole time what was going on!
  145. >”Listen to me, Anon! You have to calm down! Stop this!”
  146. You lied to me! About everything! My being here, my life, my friends! They're all your lies!
  147. >The pain in your chest is agonizing. It eclipses the throbbing in your head
  148. >You rush the Princess before she can respond. The energy surrounding you is destroying the very ground as you run
  149. >Celestia launches bolts of blazing white magic in defense
  150. >You swat them away, sending them in every direction
  151. >The Princess puts up a magical barrier to protect herself
  152. >As it shatters you can see the pity in her eyes mixing with fear
  153. >You gather yourself and send Celestia flying across the castle grounds with a rage-fueled punch
  154. >You leap into the air, over to where the Princess has landed.
  155. >It doesn't matter why. It doesn't matter what reason she had. She took everything from you.
  156. >Time to pay her back in full for what's she's done
  157. >A bolt of magic strikes you square in the chest
  158. >'Lucky shot, Celestia' you think, as you sail through the air
  159. >You hit the wall of the castle and fall to the ground
  160. >After a few seconds you get back up.
  161. >You're not going down that easy
  162. >Celestia has too much to answer for
  163. >You walk back over to the Princess, who has regained her footing
  164. >A familiar sound fills your ears and you stop in your tracks
  165. >You look up and see, streaking across the sky, Rainbow...
  166. 7/x
  167.
  168. >”..Dash, come over here, he's waking up!” Twilight's voice sounds relieved
  169. >Rainbow Dash flies over to you. You're... in bed? Your head is killing you
  170. What happened? I remember being out walking, then something about the Forest...
  171. >You can't remember anything past stepping into the Everfree Forest
  172. >”I was practicing some new moves outside of town and saw you just lying there at the edge of the Everfree Forest” Rainbow says, worried
  173. >”And then she brought you here so I could take a look at you” Twilight looks puzzled when you clutch your head
  174. >”Is there something wrong, Anon?”
  175. Yeah, I've just been getting these headaches recently. Like whenever I try to remember the first day I came here
  176. >”Oh, oh dear.” Twilight looks distraught. “Let me try something. I think I know a spell that might help”
  177. >Her horn glows brightly as she taps it against your forehead
  178. >Your head erupts in pain
  179. >Twilight and Rainbow take a big step back as you fall out of bed, holding your head in your hands
  180. >It's all coming back to you now
  181. >The first day in Equestria. Meeting, Rainbow Dash, Twilight, and the others, something's wrong though
  182. >Your memories are going back further. You didn't arrive that day. The camp, the Forest, you remember it all.
  183. >There's power too. You remember striking down a Manticore in a moment of stress
  184. >What the hell is happening?
  185. 8/x
  186.
  187. >”You guys, I found them!” Rainbow Dash yells out from the air and circles back around the castle
  188. >She's ok? But how?
  189. >She was right there when Celestia's magic broke down
  190. >Twilight too...
  191. >You heart hurts more and more as you think about it
  192. >The despair turns to more rage as you turn back to Celestia
  193. >She did this
  194. >She put them up to this
  195. >Put them in danger
  196. >Made you care about them
  197. >All lies
  198. >Trickery
  199. >Inexcusable
  200. >You clench your fists again and sprint at the Princess
  201. >You've got a time limit now
  202. >End this before they get here
  203. >You reach Celestia and power through another bolt of magic
  204. >Her eyes are determined now. The pity is masked behind her will to defend herself from you
  205. >You prepare to strike with all your anger
  206. >”ANON” Damn it, too late. Celestia sends you flying again. You see Twilight leading the pack as you land
  207. >They all look so sad
  208. >Scared
  209. >Conflicted
  210. >You see Twilight's leg with a bandage wrapped around it
  211. >Your heart knots
  212. 9/x
  213.
  214. >Your head throbs
  215. >A flood of memory crashes down on you
  216. >Waking up in the clearing, killing the Manticore, camping at the ruins, lost in an unknown wilderness.
  217. >You remember Celestia appearing and bringing you to the castle
  218. >How she took your memory and sealed the power you had discovered
  219. >How she implanted the memories of that first week
  220. >You were a threat. She stopped you
  221. >Made you think you belonged
  222. >You cry out in anguish
  223. >It's all lies
  224. >All of it
  225. >A shockwave hurls Rainbow Dash and Twilight against the wall of the library
  226. >They don't move when you call to them
  227. >You panic
  228. >Running down the street, you're stopped by the Royal Guard and Celestia herself
  229. >”Anon, you need to come with us”
  230. >Hell no. You back up. Seeing the Princess now fills you with anger
  231. >You can feel it building inside you along with a great power
  232. >The Princess sighs and her horn lights up, transporting you to the Throne Room of the Castle
  233. >”Please listen to-”
  234. >Your anger explodes
  235. >Guards are thrown against the walls. An explosion follows the initial shock
  236. >It brings the Throne Room crashing down
  237. >It hurts
  238. >You're doubled over
  239. 10/x
  240.
  241. >Twilight, Rainbow, Pinkie, Applejack, Rarity, Fluttershy...
  242. >They're wearing the Elements of Harmony
  243. >Your anger falters at the sight of the six ponies
  244. >Dammit, they aren't your friends
  245. >They were part of Celestia's ruse from the start
  246. >Get a hold of yourself and finish this, Anon
  247. >”ANON!” Rainbow Dash yells. You can tell she's holding back tears
  248. >Why the hell is she crying? She was only acting like she cared
  249. >They all were
  250. >Weren't they?
  251. >”Twilight, you must use the Elements now!” Celestia yells at the six mares
  252. >No
  253. >No, you were so close to having your vengeance
  254. >It can't end like this
  255. >You look back at the six ponies
  256. >The Elements are shining. Twilight's eyes glow a brilliant white as she floats into the air
  257. >Rainbow looks at you painfully as her Element activates
  258. >The others follow in turn and you're engulfed in light
  259. >You have to fight this
  260. >You can't just give in
  261. >But your will is fading
  262. >Is it the Elements? Or is it your friends?
  263. >You feel something tightly grip your waist
  264. >Look down at Rainbow Dash, tearfully staring back at you
  265. >You stop fighting and feel the anger rip away from you
  266. 11/x
  267.
  268. >The light fades and you fall to your knees, Rainbow Dash still clutching your waist
  269. Wha...
  270. >Your voice fails. You look to see Celestia walking over to you
  271. >Oh fuck, what now?
  272. >She addresses the ponies
  273. >”Thank you, Twilight Sparkle. Once again you have used the Elements of Harmony to stop a great threat to Equestria.”
  274. >She looks at you. Fuck, you're powerless now. There's no way you can stand up to Celestia
  275. >”I will handle Anon from here. There is much we need to discuss.”
  276. >You're getting the moon for this, you know it.
  277. >You follow the Princess into the castle. Rainbow Dash watches you go and breaks down when you round the corner
  278. >”Well Anon, I suppose now's the time for answers.”
  279. Why change my memories?
  280. >”You have to understand, Anon. When we found you in the Everfree Forest we didn't know what you were. We determined that your power wouldn't pose a problem as long as you didn't know it was there. There was also the problem of it coming out under emotional duress, so we placed you in Ponyville amongst the citizens and had them treat you as one of them. My magic worked to keep your memories in line with the situation until you went into the Forest again. Seeing the camp and the clearing weakened my spells enough for Twilight's spell to shatter them completely, if only by accident...”
  281. 12/x
  282.
  283. >”I'm truly sorry it turned out this way, Anon. It's my fault. I should have let you be and allowed you to learn to control your power once you found Ponyville.”
  284. >She looks out at the sculpture garden at a hideous statue of some horrible chimera
  285. >”You just reminded me of an old enemy”
  286. >Your walking path takes you through the Throne Room, which is being repaired very quickly by pegasi and unicorns.
  287. It's not all your fault, Princess. I let my emotions run wild. I thought that my entire life had been a lie when my friends genuinely care for me
  288. >You think back to Rainbow's tearful expression seeing you fighting the Princess
  289. >The two of you reach the balcony overlooking the Equestrian plains
  290. >”Since I am to blame for setting you up the way I did, you won't face punishment for your actions”
  291. >Your shock is palpable
  292. >”I'll inform the citizens of Ponyville of the situation for when you return”
  293. I'm thankful, Princess, for your leniency, but I can't go back to Ponyville after what happened here
  294. >She nods understandingly
  295. I have to find my own way here. I just can't do that here anymore, not after this
  296. >The Princess agrees and allows you to go alone
  297. >You set out the next day for the northern mountains.
  298. >The six mares you called friends meet you at the gates
  299. >They say their goodbyes and apologize for misleading you all that time
  300. >Finally Rainbow Dash, tears in her eyes, steps forward
  301. >”I just want you to know that, even if we did start out just acting like we were your friends... by the end I- we...”
  302. >She trails off as she wells up
  303. I know, Rainbow, I know. I'm sorry it has to be this way
  304. >You say your final goodbyes and walk away
  305. >The sun is blazing in the sky. Celestia's light is strong
  306. END
