  1. MacArthur wanted to invade China on the behalf of defending the Americans from the Chinese troops advancing against them and pushing the forces back into South Korea. He felt as though this action deserved a response including an invasion of China because without it, their standpoint wouldn’t bring them victory. However, Truman disagreed with MacArthur’s sentiment, and found it not necessary to invade China. Truman favored a different approach, because the invasion or otherwise attack against China could possibly bring about a large scale war in mainland Asia. As Truman put, he wanted to “prevent another world war -- not start one.” My decision would’ve been in line with Truman’s; invading China and causing more disparity and battles in Asia would’ve been pointless and could’ve caused a much larger war to break out.
