  2. Grace Leonhardt has connected.
  3. Narrator has connected.
  4. Narrator: Just missing an Avara and Rob?
  5. Actinidia has connected.
  6. Avara has connected.
  7. July 24th, Monday.
  8. 76 degrees F and it feels kind of dry.
  9. Wind speeds have increased to 12 mph and the rain has lessened to a light drizzle.
  10. Actinidia, Etna, Grace and Pierce had recently underwent dramatic change and became Pokémon. Actinidia, the Grass-Type Snivy. Etna, the Ice and Rock-Type Amaura. Grace, the Fighting-Type Riolu. Pierce, the Steel and Rock-Type Aron. They have acquired a once Wolf-Spider companion by the name of Uraruren, currently a Bug and Poison-Type Spinarak.
  11. After encountering a lone and desperate Trapinch the party engaged in combat with a bunch of opportunitistic and bullheaded Pokémon. The battle continues!
  12. Narrator: Before we begin: Role Call!
  13. DNA: Roll Call!
  14. Actinidia: Actinidia, standing by
  15. DNA: Oh yeah, we WERE mid-combat, weren't we...
  16. Grace Leonhardt: Blue spikey anubian jackal on standby.
  17. DNA: Magikarp is running right away, Farfetch'd I'm not sure, Beldum is out, Feebas is dead
  18. Narrator: We seem to have someone AFK.
  19. Avara: here
  20. Grace Leonhardt has initiative!
  21. Grace Leonhardt: Grace will try to hold her defensive spot, and move slightly over to be between her and the flying farfetch. Considering he was out of range, she'll just brace for... whatever was possibly coming her way.
  22. Narrator: Okie doke.
  23. Pierce Mars Oswell has received initiative.
  24. DNA: The Farfetch'd is 9 metres up?
  25. DNA: 130
  26. DNA: Also remind me: long-range is a -2 penalty to the accuracy, right?
  27. Narrator: Correct.
  28. Avara: keep in mind, you can try jumping to boost your vertical range
  29. DNA: I could, but where it is now, it's 6 of one and a half-dozen of the other.
  30. Avara: pff
  31. * Pierce Mars Oswell Aims, then fires a long-range E-Strike at the Farfetch'd's position!
  32. Pierce Mars Oswell: 2+2+4+1=9
  33. Pierce Mars Oswell: However, it missed. End turn.
  34. Etna has received initiative.
  35. Etna: "If you're going to fight, you might want to fly lower. If you're going to run, you should probably say so. If we fight and you get knocked out, you might break something vital on the way to the floor."
  36. * Etna steps towards the Farfetch'd.
  37. * Etna ends turn.
  38. Trapinch: Trapinch rushes over to the egg and picks it up gently, looking around cautiously.
  39. Magikarp: Magikarp, wasting no time, continues to flee - abort mission!
  40. Magikarp: Magikarp will escape the scene next turn.
  41. Farfetch'd: "Well now, this did not exactly go as plan. So...gonna dip."
  42. DNA: DIIIIIIIIIIIIP
  43. Farfetch'd: Farfetch'd flies upward!
  44. Farfetch'd: Farfetch'd goes up 3 meter(s).
  45. Avara: brb
  46. Actinidia has received initiative.
  47. Actinidia: Actinidia readies an action to use E-Strike on Farfetch'd if he comes closer and uses a technique.
  48. Actinidia: Done
  49. Avara: back
  50. Grace Leonhardt: (wb)
  51. Actinidia: Or just uses a technique. I think I can hit him with a 16m attack
  52. Actinidia: Officially: If he attacks, I will attack.
  53. Actinidia has received initiative.
  54. Uraruren: Uraruren hops on top of Etna and looks upward, opening its mouth and forming an orb of purple aura and firing at the Farfetch'd!
  55. Uraruren: 5+4+4+4=17
  56. Uraruren: (( ...THIS looks familiar. ))
  57. Uraruren: (( Stupid NPCs. Why must you MURDER?! ))
  58. Actinidia: ((Delicious birdmeat))
  59. DNA: Heh,heh,heh
  60. Avara: uraruren needed to learn the lesson of GRAVITY i guess
  61. Avara: also bird brain didn't just outright leave.
  62. Uraruren: Uraruren scores a SUPER CRITICAL HIT, dealing 21 Poison Damage!
  63. Farfetch'd: Farfetch'd loses 21 health.
  64. Farfetch'd: Farfetch'd falls out of the sky, 12 meters down and slams into the pavement with a sickening crunch! Farfetch'd suffers 13 damage!
  65. Farfetch'd: Farfetch'd is slain.
  66. Grace Leonhardt: Grace will let out a sigh, and just stay quiet. She couldn't convince the murderbug to slow down.
  67. * Etna flinches a little at the sound. "... and that's why if someone's running away in the air, it's a good idea to let them, unless they need to die. Gravity isn't anybody's friend."
  68. Uraruren: "Booyah! I hit 'em go-" Uraruren pauses and looks around, "...I mean, uh, bad rock-hard ground. You killed him!"
  69. * Pierce Mars Oswell merely sighed, and shook his head.
  70. Uraruren: "...I'm going to be punished aren't I?"
  71. Uraruren: "Do I still get to eat dinner...?"
  72. Grace Leonhardt has received initiative.
  73. Etna: "I'll try and explain the whole 'why' part of why not to kill every enemy, once we're on the road. We're not going to starve you, but you are going to get a lecture. You're here to learn, after all."
  74. Etna: "That said. These people were planning to kill and eat people too, so... I'm not exactly that upset there's one less."
  75. Uraruren: Uraruren chitters quietly to herself, "...I get the feeling I'll rather I be punished."
  76. Grace Leonhardt: Grace will let out a sigh, and motion to the smashed bird. "Yeah, that's probably the best way to put it Etna."
  77. Narrator: Skipping turn, Grace?
  78. Grace Leonhardt: (Ye)
  79. Pierce Mars Oswell has received initiative.
  80. DNA: Magikarp is the only living thing in the encounter...
  81. Narrator: Correct.
  82. Pierce Mars Oswell: "I'd want to see if we could interrogate this Beldum, but I don't see that happening..." End turn.
  83. Actinidia: "They seemed pretty straightforward about their motives. They wanted the egg, and instead of arguing on their own behalf, they chose to fight."
  84. Avara: waiting for init to tick
  85. Grace Leonhardt: "Yeah... things kinda devolved when I kicked them in the face..." She'll say feeling a little bit akward about being the initiator for once. Then again they were gonna eat the egg.
  86. Actinidia: "They said, "attack". A kick to the face was the appropriate response."
  87. Etna has received initiative.
  88. Etna: "Hey, running karp. You were complaining about how we'd all fear you once you evolve, right? I'm pretty sure I can learn a shocking move or two. So you might want to think twice before you do something stupid after evolving. You can probably guess how it'd end." Communication roll?
  89. Magikarp: "WecancomebacktothatneverthankyouverymuchFREEEEEEDOOOOOM!"
  90. * Etna ends turn with the message delivered.
  91. Actinidia: Combat over?
  92. Magikarp: ...Yes.
  93. Magikarp: I blame SKype. I'm just going to ignore that for now.
  94. Actinidia: Actinidia, taking a five minute breather, is healed and gains 9 health and 6 power.
  95. Magikarp: Magikarp, taking a five minute breather, is healed and gains 6 health and 3 power.
  96. Pierce Mars Oswell: Pierce Mars Oswell, taking a five minute breather, is healed and gains 9 health and 5 power.
  97. Grace Leonhardt: Grace Leonhardt, taking a five minute breather, is healed and gains 8 health and 9 power.
  98. Magikarp: Magikarp escapes combat like a boss.
  99. Uraruren: Uraruren, taking a five minute breather, is healed and gains 8 health and 5 power.
  100. Etna: Etna, taking a five minute breather, is healed and gains 9 health and 10 power.
  101. Trapinch: "My egg, my beautiful wonderful - Wait, where's your father?!" Trapinch looks around.
  102. Actinidia: "Is anyone still hurt?"
  103. Actinidia: Actinidia listens for said father...
  104. Actinidia: 2+4+1+3=10
  105. Actinidia: "He may be hiding."
  106. Pierce Mars Oswell: Perception (Smelling) to see if there's anyone or anything else still around. Or, worse, blood.
  107. Trapinch: "Darling? Darling? Where are you?!"
  108. Pierce Mars Oswell: 6+2+2+5=15
  109. DNA: and now that I max stunt, how do I use this power
  110. Trapinch: (( I'll wait for you to decide before I give you answers. ))
  111. DNA: Resources at hand - Perception Sight
  112. DNA: and I guess Speedy Search, to finish in half the time.
  113. Grace Leonhardt: Diane will try to help out with the spotting. She's not entirely sure on what to use considering she seems canine, so she devolves to just using her eyes for now.
  114. Grace Leonhardt: 5+5+5+0=15
  115. Grace Leonhardt: (F*cking wow.)
  116. Avara: daaaaaang
  117. DNA: 'Diane'?
  118. Trapinch: (( Any stunts on that 5, there? ))
  119. Grace Leonhardt: (FUQ sorry, wrong person. I've been working on another character for another game. ^^;)
  120. DNA: It's okay. Was just curious, since you said that once last week as well, and was wondering why.
  121. Grace Leonhardt: Fuq really? Now I feel dumb. ;-;
  122. Trapinch: (( Should I take that stunt as a no? ))
  123. Grace Leonhardt: (Oh! Right uh, hold on a tic
  124. Grace Leonhardt: (Which table would I use for this?)
  125. Grace Leonhardt: (nvm)
  126. DNA: Exploration STunts
  127. Grace Leonhardt: (Speedy search, advanced search, and Advantagous Positioning)
  128. Narrator: Gonna assume effecient search.
  129. Grace Leonhardt: (Gah! Sorry yeah. I appologize if I seem scatter brained.)
  130. Actinidia: (patpat)
  131. DNA: Efficient and Speedy are two different things. Efficient halves resources; Speedy halves time
  132. Narrator whispers: You can smell urine and fear. Literal fear nearby. The scent is vaguely familiar. It comes from somewhere of higher elevation and close.
  133. Grace Leonhardt: (Yeah I realize, but I wanted to do both Speedy, and Advant, and I couldn't really spend the last 2 on anything else but that.)
  134. * Pierce Mars Oswell looks up, and around.
  135. DNA: Aha.
  136. Etna: brb
  137. You whisper to Narrator: By 'fear', what do you mean?
  138. You whisper to Narrator: I meant 'familiar'. What did that mean?
  139. Grace Leonhardt: Grace will look around for a few moments, before she spots something hanging from a tree. Approaching to get a better look, she looks up at it for a few seconds, before pointing up at the KO'd weedle in the tree. "Is this uh... your signifigant other?"
  140. Pierce Mars Oswell: "I smell fear."
  141. Narrator whispers: Well fear is - oh, familiar. It's vaguely like that of both the egg and the Trapinch.
  142. You whisper to Narrator: Ah right, okay. Thank you. (I don't know why I typed 'fear'. Probably my brain dancing about.)
  143. * Pierce Mars Oswell looks at the Weedle and goes over to it. Is that where the scent is coming from?
  144. Trapinch: "What? Oh!" Trapinch, with the egg, rushes over.
  145. Trapinch whispers: Indeed.
  146. Trapinch: "Yes! That's him! That's my darling!"
  147. Pierce Mars Oswell: "He appears to be alive, at least; that's good."
  148. Actinidia: Actinidia examines him. Does he need HP healing?
  149. Weedle: Weedle is still very much unsconscious. And, much like a bat of ancient modern times, is hanging in his own urine.
  150. Grace Leonhardt: "He doesn't seem worse for wear. Just a bit roughed up thankfully..."
  151. Avara: back with food
  152. Grace Leonhardt: Grace will hesitate for a second or two, before she'll take an attempt to climb the tree up to the weedle to get him down. (Acro)
  153. Actinidia: Actinidia attempts to use Synthesis on the weedle.
  154. Trapinch: "You brave fool..." Trapinch's eyes grow watery, "I'm so glad you're still alive."
  155. Grace Leonhardt: 5+4+5+2=16
  156. Actinidia: 6+1+4+5=16
  157. Actinidia: Actinidia loses 1 power.
  158. Trapinch: (( Actually, climbign is Strength (Climbing) ))
  159. Actinidia: Heals 6 HP
  160. Grace Leonhardt: (Oh! Okay then.)
  161. Grace Leonhardt: 6+5+4+2=17
  162. Grace Leonhardt: (*Spittake*
  163. Weedle: Weedle is healed and gains 6 Health.
  164. Grace Leonhardt: Grace Leonhardt runs up the tree, ninja style, and swipes at the silk rope used to hang the Weedle. The rope, now split into two six foot long lengths, fall to the ground.
  165. Grace Leonhardt: Without skipping a beat, Grace Leonhardt flips off the tree and catches the small, now healed, Weedle into her arms and cradles him like a babe as she skids to a halt on the ground. No sweat, bruh. No fucking sweat.
  166. Pierce Mars Oswell: "Wow. Impressive."
  167. Etna: "If I could applaud, I would."
  168. Actinidia: "You're getting used to your new form. That's good." Actinidia smiled.
  169. Uraruren: "Psh. I - I could do that. If I wanted to." Uraruren huffs and croses her front legs.
  170. Grace Leonhardt: Grace will land and throw up her free in the air and she lets out a "Woo! Holy crap I didn't expect to actually pull that off! That was something from like... ninja warior or somethin'!"
  171. Grace Leonhardt: Grace will catch herself though, and scoot over to put down the weedle next to the trapinch. "Oh uh, heheh... Here's your husband ma'am."
  172. Trapinch: "...That was amazing!" Trapinch pauses, dumbfounded by the sight before her eyes lock on the Weedle, "My darling is doing alright, though? Well, I mean...you guys are like, comic book heroes so!"
  173. Trapinch: Trapinch smiles and gently nudges the Weedle, "Percy! Percy wake up!"
  174. Pierce Mars Oswell: "How'd he get up there though? Did he come here himself, or did someone hang him there? ...Given the string, I'm guessing he got there himself, but why's he unconscious?"
  175. Actinidia: "With any luck, everything is al right." Actinidia turned to the rest of her team, "You all did a wonderful job."
  176. Weedle: Weedle wakes up with a pained groan and gasps startled as he see's Trapinch, "Oh! ...Oh, this is still going to take some getting used to."
  177. Weedle: "Wait, what happened? You have our egg!"
  178. Grace Leonhardt: Grace will blush and look away from all the praise she was getting.
  179. Trapinch: "Heroes!" Trapinch exclaims as she motions to everyone, particularly Grace, "They rescued you from those terrible Pokémon!"
  180. * Etna shrugs, and looks at the battlefield. They were sure building up a kill count. "We should probably move the bodies somewhere, and move the beldum. Leaving them in the streets might attract scavengers."
  181. Weedle: "I...don't...know what to say..." Weedle slowly pushes himself to his feet and looks around, "I don't have anything to offer you but my thanks..."
  182. * Etna turns to look at Weedle, shrugging again. "We didn't do it for a reward. We did it because it's the right thing, and because nobody else is around to make sure the right thing gets done."
  183. Actinidia: Actinidia nodded in agreement.
  184. Actinidia: "My name is Actinidia. This is Etna, Grace, Uraruren and... do you prefer Pierce or Mars? I think I've heard both."
  185. Grace Leonhardt: Grace was a blushing mess, but she nods her head in agreement.
  186. Pierce Mars Oswell: "I'm Mars. Pierce is...gone now."
  187. * Pierce Mars Oswell nodded quietly. "Pleased to meet you. Percy, and...?"
  188. Trapinch: "I don't have a name!"
  189. Weedle: "I just call her Sexy." Weedle shrugs, "We can come up with something better."
  190. Pierce Mars Oswell: "You don't have a-Oh. Oh!" He nodded, apparently understanding. "I see."
  191. * Etna raises an eyebrow, or her best approximation of such.
  192. Grace Leonhardt: Grace will perk up at that, and actually look back, "Wait, you don't have a name...?"
  193. Trapinch: "Nuh uhn. Designations of such unusualness is far beyond that of my standards of culture. I'm just me." Trapinch shrugs, "But I suppose it would be nice to have something to distinguish me from others of my kind."
  194. Weedle: "She has moments like that. Don't worry. It'll pass."
  195. Pierce Mars Oswell: "I think it's because she wasn't a human before the event."
  196. Pierce Mars Oswell: "I could be wrong, but that's my guess, anyway."
  197. Trapinch: "But our baby egg is safe and will hatch sometime soon. And now, we'll both be here for the young to imprint upon."
  198. * Etna looks at Actinidia. "Told you someone would get around to that sort of thing in their new forms eventually."
  199. Grace Leonhardt: "I uh... right. I forgot that can happen."
  200. Weedle: "Ah, right. That. Imprinting is...uh, important."
  201. Trapinch: "And then I get to eat you."
  202. Etna: "No."
  203. Uraruren: "Yeah, what the giant ice dinosaur said!"
  204. Etna: "No eating your mate anymore. You don't need to."
  205. Uraruren: "Yeah!"
  206. Trapinch: "Huh? I was taught I need to devour the head of my mate afterward..."
  207. Pierce Mars Oswell: "...I knew it."
  208. Weedle: "I kind of like my head where it is."
  209. DNA: OOC: No Fomantis?
  210. Etna: "Because your old body wasn't big enough to hold the nutrition your kids need. Your new body's big enough, and your kid's already outside of it."
  211. Grace Leonhardt: "Wait, woah hold up! You don't have to eat him!"
  212. Uraruren: "And my mom was taught to eat the mate entirely in her days, but that's past generation. This isn't how things work now."
  213. Weedle: "Right. I stick around and help raise the child. It's better this way."
  214. Grace Leonhardt: "Y-Yeah! What he said! You don't have to eat your uh... other."
  215. Trapinch: "Oh. That's kind of boring but better. I suppose." Trapinch looks around, "Does that mean we get to make more eggs later?"
  216. Etna: "Yup. That's the upside."
  217. Etna: "More egg-making, less work taking care of eggs alone."
  218. Actinidia: "Especially because you only laid one egg. If you ate every mate you had a child with, you'd be helping to decrease the population."
  219. Weedle: "..." Weedle seems to be having second thoughts now.
  220. * Etna chuckles at Weedle, amused by the situation.
  221. Trapinch: "I have four others." Trapinch said nodding in a general northern direction, "This one slipped out."
  222. Weedle: "I'm still getting used to uh, spewing web."
  223. Uraruren: "Oi." Uraruren says looking intently at the Weedle, "Teach. Me."
  224. Etna: "And this is why you should always talk things out and make sure you know and understand each other before you get to the egg-making process," Etna says to Ura. "Better to get misunderstandings out of the way early."
  225. Weedle: "...But...but how? I don't even know how I do it!"
  226. Pierce Mars Oswell: "Wait, you want Percy to teach you how to shot web?"
  227. Grace Leonhardt: Grace will blink a few times at the statment from the trapinch, her mind quickly wandering if she'll lay more than one, and then immediately by her facepalming trying to get the thought out.
  228. Uraruren: "Well, I'm a...thing. That can shoot webs. But I don't know how. I want to know how. Mom does it and it's super awesome."
  229. Actinidia: "Perhaps it is something you will discover with age and experience?"
  230. Etna: "Percy, do you have the energy to make web right now?"
  231. Weedle: "I don't think I'll be able to 'teach' anyone things like that. I'm still trying to get used to not having paws."
  232. Weedle: Weedle tilts his head, "Uh, I might. Did you need something?"
  233. Grace Leonhardt: Grace will luckily have her mental out, by it suddenly used to try and process the fact that the weedle with a name used to have paws.
  234. Etna: "You could make some web slowly, and try to describe what you do with your energy when you make the web."
  235. Etna: "That might help Uraruren figure out what to practice doing to make web."
  236. Weedle: "It...feels like magic?" Weedle shrugs, "Everything I do comes from nowhere and yet everywhere. I just assumed magic."
  237. Uraruren: "...The hell is that? Magic? Is that a topping?"
  238. Uraruren: "Oooh, can I put it on the bird thing for extra tastiness?"
  239. Etna: "Do you twist your 'magic' a certain way, or will something, or something?"
  240. Actinidia: "It very well might be, or something close to it. If you make it, Etna and I could watch and study the process."
  241. Trapinch: "...You're going to eat it? But you didn't make eggs..."
  242. Etna: "Ura, magic is a story thing. I'll try and explain later. After the lecture about when to and not to kill, and why."
  243. * Etna looks at Trapinch. "You... weren't very long-lived when you changed, were you?"
  244. Trapinch: "I don't know. How long is long lived?"
  245. Weedle: Weedle inhales deeply and then exhales, spewing out a cone of webbing. The webbing is greenish before solidifying white.
  246. Actinidia: Cunning check to study
  247. Actinidia: 5+6+1+2=14
  248. Actinidia: (I recommend getting a Cunning (Pokemon Lore) from Etna if that's possible))
  249. Etna: 2+1+3+2=8
  250. Avara: etna's not really great at it.
  251. DNA: Okay, my turn, just for kicks
  252. DNA: 5+3+1+0=9
  253. DNA: Worth a shot
  254. Avara: maybe one from ura, since ura's the one trying to learn how to web shoot get
  255. Actinidia whispers: You're entirely clueless. The aura is weird in a certain color and then it isn't. Does it always do that?
  256. Uraruren: "...You VOMITED web. Just....what....HOW?! HOOOOOOW." Uraruren inhales deeply and spits purple acid all over the street beside Etna.
  257. Uraruren: Uraruren learned Acid.
  258. Uraruren: "...That's not web."
  259. Actinidia: "Curious. There is an energy at work, similar to the aura around the eviolite we have. But it's a TYPE of aura. If the book is right, and pokemon do work the way we think they do, you need to focus on Bug type energy."
  260. Etna: "That's very not web, but it is a different poison thing."
  261. Actinidia: "What you're using, Uraruren, is Poison type energy."
  262. Actinidia: "Your species is both poison and bug. So you're using one of your two main energy types while attacking. To make web, you need to find the other type of energy within yourself."
  263. Grace Leonhardt: "Which... is probably on the same level of usefulness in a fight if not more. Maybe not uitility but still."
  264. Actinidia: "I don't think this is usefulness as much as pride. She's a spider, in body and heart, she wants to make web. And I want to help her."
  265. Etna: "Right. We'll keep working on it. And if we can't figure it out, we can head back to the convention center and ask if your family's willing to teach you."
  266. Uraruren: Uraruren stares at the acid, "...Maybe I'll make poisonous web. Maybe if I try really hard..."
  267. Actinidia: "Are there any poison webs Etna?"
  268. Pierce Mars Oswell: "I think there was. One of your group, when we first met, had some sort of poison web."
  269. Uraruren: "Uh, no. I don't want to go back until it's TIME."
  270. Etna: "I don't know if there's a poison web or not. Uraruren might find a way to invent one, if there isn't. So.. Ura, you're used to firing liquids. Poison, acid, the goopy stuff. Right?"
  271. Actinidia: "Then you'll have to discover it on your own." Actinidia smiled and gave Uraruren an assuring pat, "I believe you'll find it."
  272. Etna: "Maybe you need to focus the energy a bit more. It needs to be less loose. Not all hard like rock, but it has to hold together on its own before you spray it out. That might be the first thing to work on."
  273. Uraruren: "I'll see what I can do with mixing energy and hardness."
  274. Etna: "There's an electric type web move, so it's possible there's other not-Bug webs too."
  275. Etna: "Web's long, thin, but very strong. Sticky. And you can feel the vibrations through it if something else touches a bunch of web you're on, very easily."
  276. Etna: "Maybe thinking about what web -is- while you work on it might help?"
  277. Weedle: "Well if you ever want to come back and watch me....web." Weedle shrugs, "We're about 20 meters up between the two buildings there."
  278. Actinidia: Actinidia tries to memorize the location.
  279. Etna: "Alright. Good luck, both of you."
  280. Actinidia: "We should be going, we have a destination to reach, after all. And we're all rested up."
  281. Avara: should we rp the lecture etna's gotta give uraruren, or pass it by with a summary?
  282. Grace Leonhardt: Depends in all honesty.
  283. Weedle: (( Up to you guys. ))
  284. Avara: leaving it up to party vote
  285. Actinidia: ((We can RP, I just want to be going to a location))
  286. DNA: I don't care! But I'd rather we get going.
  287. Avara: yes, lecture would be a while-walking thing
  288. Avara: i'm not honestly sure how to get across everything i want to, just the general key points to bring up
  289. Grace Leonhardt: Fair enough.
  290. Avara: so if everyone is apathy-ville i'll give a summary and a roll, if that's alright
  291. Weedle: o7
  292. Actinidia: o7
  293. Pierce Mars Oswell: o7
  294. Grace Leonhardt: 07
  295. * Etna explains to Uraruren a mixture of general morality as a factor (cultural upbringing), and more prominently, the practical benefits of mercy. Reputation, both as a factor of not making enemies, a factor of making allies, and a factor of getting enemies to stop fighting without costing you more energy and resources. Because fighting and killing takes -effort- and sometimes it's too much trouble. Then there's the idea of leaving people alive so they can do work for you... and so on. And the fact that we -have- food, and thus don't need to kill for food.
  296. Etna: 6+5+5+2=18
  297. Actinidia: Etna uses the "And Another Thing!" stunt!
  298. Actinidia: One MOOORE thing...
  299. DNA: Yu Mo Gui Gwai Fai Di Zhao
  300. Grace Leonhardt: I always loved that phrase.
  301. DNA: But of course.
  302. Avara: And Another Thing, Bon Mot, Jest. wit and humor injected into the lecture, while it's very expansively explainful.
  303. Grace Leonhardt: It's pretty much him just changing 'f*ck off supernatual' in Cantonese
  304. Uraruren: "I...I see. I'll try to remember this in combat." Uraruren nods sagely.
  305. Uraruren: (( one moment choking on ginger ale ))
  306. Etna: "Good. Now, obviously, there are people that have to die. Too dangerous to let live, people that'll keep hurting and killing others without reason. People that'll come to kill us later. So it's not a complete rule not to ever kill, but it's not something to choose lightly."
  307. Grace Leonhardt: *Chant
  308. Grace Leonhardt: "There's also the fact that onthers are just... honestly like you now. Being aware, and a living creature. It would be terrible to be on the reciving end of a lethal blow, so it's better to narrow down the number of them the best one can."
  309. Grace Leonhardt: ^
  310. Actinidia: "And you choose to finish someone's life later. There's no reason not to capture or subdue if you can."
  311. Avara: meow
  312. Grace Leonhardt: bark
  313. Avara: are you ok, Kaorin?
  314. DNA: Dear GM, Please stop choking on ginger ale; Love, Your Players
  315. Uraruren: (( Back, catching up. ))
  316. Uraruren: "I'm confused. But I'll ask later."
  317. Narrator: Alright so, what's the plan for the white house? Because, honestly, it's not very far from where you guys were at the restaurant.
  318. Grace Leonhardt: Try the front door and hope there isn't a turret or something?
  319. Narrator: I recall like 'scouting' or something and I don't want to put you guys closer than you wanted to be.
  320. Avara: we were gonna do a walk-around and see what we could see from the street, i believe
  321. DNA: That sounds familiar, yes.
  322. Grace Leonhardt: That works too
  323. Actinidia: "Perhaps Uraruren and Mars can scout ahead. Uraruren is small and can climb easily. Mars is small and your body blends in well with the urban setting." (also your dex is pretty high, making you an amusingly good sneak) "The rest of us will trail behind, so we can stay even more hidden but jump in if you need us."
  324. Etna: "That sounds like a good plan to me, if you two are up for it."
  325. DNA: (OOC: That was actually my main plan - investing in stealth)
  326. Pierce Mars Oswell: "I'd be glad to."
  327. Grace Leonhardt: That sounds fair. Let me know if you see a spot that I can apparently attempt to parkore over because what the hell."
  328. Actinidia: ((and now I just justified it for you.))
  329. DNA: Ho ho ho.
  330. Uraruren: "Oh, so it's like a hunt. I've always wanted to do one of those."
  331. Pierce Mars Oswell: "Not yet. We're just scouting first. We're surveying the surroundings, then regrouping so we can go in as a team."
  332. Pierce Mars Oswell: "To start with..." Perception (Sight) to look for a good entry/vantage point...
  333. Pierce Mars Oswell: 4+6+6+3=19
  334. Pierce Mars Oswell: The Upper Hand. Just in case.
  335. Actinidia: "It's a hunt, but you're hunting for information right now."
  336. Narrator: So, question: Is that before or after stealthing in close enough to view?
  337. DNA: Before. I'm just looking for a way in first.
  338. Narrator: That...isn't the front door?
  339. Narrator: That's a legit question, btw.
  340. DNA: I'm thinking there may be a way past the fences, like a hole torn up by something, or maybe the fence is broken somewhere. That sort of thing. Basically, any entrance that isn't the obvious way in.
  341. DNA: I get the impression we're at or near the outside of the fence around the perimeter?
  342. Narrator: At the....uh
  343. Narrator: I don't want to say 'pool' but I'm not sure what else it is.
  344. Narrator: It's at the bottom of the stairs.
  345. DNA: This would be awesome if I had a visual aid, but mostly because I don't know where the pool is in relation to the door.
  346. Narrator whispers: You can see there's a current in the pool that leads somewhere. Either into the zoo or the white house. Outside of that, the fences have been reinforced with the debris found around the street. There could be possible structural weaknesses at the actual building but it's too far for you to see from here. Beyond the 15 meters you can see details.
  347. Pierce Mars Oswell: "Hm, the fences appear to be reinforced. There's a current from the pool that leads off somewhere else. Maybe we could follow that?"
  348. Uraruren: "You want me to hold my breath?"
  349. Pierce Mars Oswell: "I don't think we'll need to swim, if we can just walk along the water's edge. How long can you hold your breath?"
  350. Avara: need to afk to move around a bit. good luck!
  351. Uraruren: "I've never tried to before. I kind of don't want to?" Uraruren pauses, "How long can you?"
  352. Pierce Mars Oswell: "About a minute, I think?"
  353. Pierce Mars Oswell: "But I don't want to take my chances swimming, since I will literally sink like a rock the way I am now."
  354. Uraruren: "Sounds good." Uraruren gives a breath of relief, "Lead the way metal...bug...thing."
  355. Pierce Mars Oswell: "...I thought I was a dinosaur?" Pierce sees if he can get his way to the pool without being noticed, potentially via the bushes or something similar. Mostly to see where that current is going.
  356. Pierce Mars Oswell: (Do I need to make any rolls? Like Dex Stealth, perhaps?)
  357. Uraruren: (( You do. Stealth. For now. ))
  358. Pierce Mars Oswell: 3+5+4+7=19
  359. DNA: Yes, I took a focus in Stealth, bitches.
  360. Uraruren: Uraruren follows behind.
  361. Uraruren: 6+5+5+2=18
  362. DNA: bois
  363. Narrator: Mars and Uraruren find their way safely into the small pipeline by the pool.
  364. Narrator whispers: You can see the pipe splits into several sections. Give me either a Cunning test or a Perception test to see which way is the right way.
  365. You whisper to Narrator: Perception
  366. DNA: 1+2+3+3=9
  367. You whisper to Narrator: ...fuck.
  368. Narrator whispers: You find a pipe that's too small for you but small enough for Uraruren. You know this is the right path. What do you do?
  369. Narrator: Whispering happening.
  370. You whisper to Narrator: "Ura, I see a pipe right there that I'm pretty sure is correct, but it's only big enough for you. Do you want to go through there or should we find another way around?"
  371. Narrator whispers: Uraruren: You guys haven't steered me wrong yet. I'll check it out and let you know how to get in.
  372. Actinidia is disconnected.
  373. Avara: back, catching up
  374. You whisper to Narrator: "All right. You look ahead and I'll wait here."
  375. Avara: oh, it was all whispersly.
  376. You whisper to Narrator: "But if there's any trouble, you get right back here immediately."
  377. Avara: alright~.
  378. Narrator whispers: Uraruren: "Okay, I'll be back soon!"
  379. Narrator whispers: There's going to be a significant amount of time waiting. You just let me know when you stop waiting.
  380. Actinidia has connected.
  381. You whisper to Narrator: Hmm, let me know when...5 minutes pass and nothing happens.
  382. Narrator whispers: Oh. Okay.
  383. Narrator whispers: So it passes. And nothing.
  384. You whisper to Narrator: "Ura? You there?" Mars calls out. While there, he looks to see if there's anything around he can use to pry the pipe line wider.
  385. Narrator whispers: The only thing in there with you is gunk and water. Nothing capable of prying. There's no response.
  386. You whisper to Narrator: I start to panic. Is there a way I could find a path/pipe that goes around to where that pipe would have gone?
  387. Narrator whispers: You've already used your Perception here. You'll have to rely on Cunning.
  388. DNA: 3+3+1+0=7
  389. Narrator whispers: You're pretty sure there's a work around to reach where Uraruren ended up, but you're not sure which direction is the right one.
  390. You whisper to Narrator: Then I'll pick one at seeming random. Which ways are there - in relation to the small pipe?
  391. Narrator whispers: Uraruren went straight, there's four other directions.
  392. Narrator whispers: Up down, right and left.
  393. You whisper to Narrator: I choose Up, and quicken my pace as I do so.
  394. Narrator whispers: The pipe twists and turns but mostly keeps going up. You keep at this for about 6 minutes. Until you burst out into a closed barrel. The barrel is dark and cold and metallic. There's a pool of water at the bottom, that's room temperature.
  395. You whisper to Narrator: Like a barrel-shaped room?
  396. Narrator whispers: like a barrel. It's roughly the same size.
  397. Actinidia: Actinidia tries to look out for allied movement from a distance.
  398. Actinidia: 5+6+3+1=15
  399. Narrator: I'll keep this in mind.
  400. You whisper to Narrator: ...How am I inside a barrel? Can it be moved?
  401. Narrator whispers: The pipe leads directly into it. And it appears stationary. And metallic.
  402. You whisper to Narrator: I attempt to push it over, or at least break it open. That's a Str Might test, right?
  403. Narrator whispers: Correct.
  404. DNA: 6+2+1+2=11
  405. Grace Leonhardt: Grace is just simply happy to take a moment to sit down and relax. After a moment or two.
  406. Narrator: whisper dna With a headbutt into the metallic barrel cage, you break just enough through it so your head pokes out. You can see a drywall room with a cement floor. It's poorly lit but there are vents and dust everywhere. You push yourself through the metal, forcing it wider until you can escape it and land on the floor with a small thud.
  407. Grace Leonhardt: oopsy daisy
  408. DNA: All right then
  409. Narrator whispers: You don't see Uraruren anywhere but this is definitely a room. One that looks like a basement. Turning around you can see what you escaped from and realize its a heater for the water system in whatever you're in. Now permanently destroyed.
  410. Narrator: Whoops.
  411. You whisper to Narrator: First, will I be able to go back the way I came in, if I need to?
  412. Narrator whispers: With a bit of effort, it's possible.
  413. You whisper to Narrator: All right. Next, the vents. How many are there, which one is least dusty, and which one is most dusty?
  414. You whisper to Narrator: And are there any other exits or ways out of this room?
  415. Narrator whispers: All the vents are generally equally dusty, with the exception of one that leads into a chute. The chute is filled with lint(sp?) and connects to something above. There's a wooden staircase opposite of the water heater that leads upstairs.
  416. You whisper to Narrator: That is most likely a laundry chute and I wouldn't be able to climb up it very well. Let's try the staircase instead.
  417. Narrator whispers: You climb the stairs and find yourself at a cracked door. You can push it open easily. The door is wooden and while slightly damaged, it is entirely functional.
  418. You whisper to Narrator: Doing it, though slowly and quietly. I peek around and what do I see?
  419. Narrator whispers: You see a hallway. It leads right and left. The place is in ruin and smells horrible. It's terribly dark and will prove difficult to navigate without visual aid (unless you have Dark Vision). You don't see anything organic immediately that's living.
  420. You whisper to Narrator: Dark in either direction?
  421. Narrator whispers: Correct.
  422. You whisper to Narrator: Disgusted, I head back the way I came, trying to go through the heater again and back through the pipe.
  423. You whisper to Narrator: i will stop at where the small pipe was, to see if Ura's come back.
  424. Narrator whispers: strength climb
  425. Pierce Mars Oswell: 5+3+5+2=15
  426. Avara: stunt the cage's face off!
  427. Narrator whispers: You easily climb back in and return after decent time to reach the point. You don't see any immediate signs of Uraruren.
  428. * Etna hums Whistle Concert while she waits. Protoman's theme from Megaman 3.
  429. You whisper to Narrator: "Shit. Shit!" Mars hurries back towards where the others are waiting. Maybe she got back before he did, and they missed each other?
  430. Narrator: You're able to reach back quickly without concern of stealth.
  431. Narrator: ...dammit
  432. Narrator: You can hear Mars in the pipe before he actually exitsit.
  433. * Etna stops humming, and looks at Mars to see if he's alright or rushing.
  434. Pierce Mars Oswell: He's rushing.
  435. Pierce Mars Oswell: "Ura went on ahead into this smaller pipe to scout ahead. I waited but she didn't come back. I was too small to fit in so I had to find another way around. I went by a side path and ended up...destroying a water heater...but didn't get very far. I think I ended up in the basement or something."
  436. Pierce Mars Oswell: "Anyway, point being, Ura didn't and hasn't come back. We need to move in, fast."
  437. Etna: "So we need to go in and get her. Lead the way."
  438. * Pierce Mars Oswell pants heavily, distraught from running and panic.
  439. Pierce Mars Oswell: "You mean like...the same way I snuck in? Or are we just charging the main door?"
  440. Etna: "Is it big enough for us to fit? Probably not for me. So causing a ruckus will be the best way to keep them off Ura, and she might notice it and come back us up from behind."
  441. Actinidia: "The way we can find her. Keeping her safe is more important than the onix."
  442. Etna: "If you can get us in the sneaky way, great. Otherwise, we need to make some noise."
  443. Pierce Mars Oswell: "It's a water system, so...I don't think Etna will be big enough."
  444. Actinidia: Actinidia rubbed her forehead in frustration, "... and it
  445. Pierce Mars Oswell: "Plus, if we make noise, it'll distract them enough for Ura to find an opening and escape. ...I vote for charging the door."
  446. Actinidia: 's impossible for us to split up safely."
  447. Etna: "Let's get going, then. Mars, you're in front. Most snakes won't be able to do anything to you."
  448. Grace Leonhardt: "How do you know she's in danger?"
  449. Grace Leonhardt: "I'm still totally down to help, but still."
  450. Actinidia: "We don't know where she is at all. That means she's not safe, she's alone in a place she shouldn't be alone."
  451. Grace Leonhardt: "Fair enough."
  452. Pierce Mars Oswell: "I don't, but it's more likely than not. So I assume the worst. The more we wait, the worse she gets." Mars charges on ahead, without waiting for the others to follow - but he knows they will.
  453. Actinidia: Actinidia seemed anxious. She was usually calm, even in the face of danger or disaster. But something slipped beyond her control, and it clearly bothered her.
  454. * Etna follows promptly.
  455. Actinidia: Actinidia chases just behind Mars.
  456. Narrator: Toward the front gate I take it?
  457. Avara: yup
  458. DNA: Exactly, yes. Making a bee line for it.
  459. Actinidia: What time is it?
  460. Actinidia: IG?
  461. Avara: how long since the start of the previous fight?
  462. Grace Leonhardt: Grace will quickly go after them, not wanting to leave their spider friend in a place she doesn't know.
  463. Actinidia: Actinidia will Barrier on the way in, if it's expired.
  464. DNA: I'd like to know the time too, actually.
  465. Avara: need to know for a berry bonus and if i need to nom another berry.
  466. Narrator: Life abruptly stops overhead. Birds don't fly over this area and you don't see any movement in the courtyard area. The pavement is torn asunder and the grass burnt, dying and grey. Debris lies everywhere, giving plenty of areas for enemies to hide behind and the front door to the estate is still quite a ways away.
  467. It is 10:56 AM
  468. Actinidia: ((still good for a while!))
  469. DNA: Whoo
  470. Grace Leonhardt: "This is uh... a lot spookier up close..."
  471. Avara: yeah, i'll have to eat another berry.
  472. Etna: 1
  473. Avara: only a +1 to aura... but better than nothing, i guess.
  474. Pierce Mars Oswell: Perception Smelling for the scent of anything or anyone hiding behind the debris
  475. Pierce Mars Oswell: 4+3+4+5=16
  476. DNA: Upper Hand
  477. DNA: safe play
  478. Narrator whispers: You can smell the presence of strange creatures in the area. You've smelled something like it before, you're sure, but this is very different. You can't pinpoint it but it's both familiar and unfamiliar at the same time.
  479. Narrator whispers: But you're certain you aren't alone in the courtyard.
  480. Pierce Mars Oswell: "There are things here. They're...familiar, somehow, but I can't place how..."
  481. Etna: "Can you describe them?"
  482. Actinidia: Actinidia listens to overhear any chatter or enemy plans of ambush.
  483. Actinidia: 4+3+2+3=12
  484. Grace Leonhardt: "Familiar?"
  485. Pierce Mars Oswell: "It's...I don't know. They're like something I've seen before, but not..."
  486. Pierce Mars Oswell: Any way to make a further roll to distinguish?
  487. Narrator: A head pokes out from one of the larger debris.
  488. Dratini: Dratini turns and looks at your group, "Go. Back." Dratini's voice echoes in a way you haven't heard before, "Go. Back."
  489. Narrator: With the time that it is, we can pause here. :3 Let this sink in over the week.
  490. Pierce Mars Oswell: "...well, that's not natural."
  491. Avara: wheee~
  492. Narrator: And perhaps someone should uh, poke me an hour ahead of time, so I can have my laptop ready on the dot.
  493. DNA: All right then.
  494. Avara: will try to remember to do that thing
  495. Narrator: Exp this session, 200.
  496. Pierce Mars Oswell: Pierce Mars Oswell is gains 200 experience points.
  497. Uraruren: Uraruren is gains 200 experience points.
  498. Grace Leonhardt: Grace Leonhardt is gains 200 experience points.
  499. Etna: Etna is gains 200 experience points.
  500. DNA: 2000 EXP To Next Level
  501. Actinidia: Actinidia is gains 200 experience points.
  502. Avara: we're gonna BUST SOME HEADS
  503. Grace Leonhardt: Noice~!
  504. Narrator: \o/
  505. Avara: thanks for the fun session
  506. Narrator: Alright, going to save campaign and log~
  507. Avara is disconnected.
  508. Grace Leonhardt is disconnected.
  509. Actinidia is disconnected.
  510. Narrator is disconnected.
  511. You have disconnected.
