  1. I'm not sure how relevant these things are:

  4. (1) 3 IGDA Members resign from controversial GDC Party
  5. This is happened in 2013, same time around the #1ReasonWhy hashtag went around.

  9.
  10. "As the party got underway, several women described in a Forbes article as “scantily clad female dancers” were paraded out as part of the evening's entertainment. Suffice to say, following the panel discussion about sexism in the industry, this was probably about the worst idea that event planners could have gone with, and it has since resulted in the resignation of IGDA members such as Brenda Romero, IGDA board member Darius Kazemi, and more recently, IGDA Chicago Chair Jay Margalus also stepped down."

  13. (2) IGF 2012 Judging Process
  14. There was a blog post talking about how bad the judging process is from the therottingcartridge (https://therottingcartridge.wordpress.com/2012/02/22/whats-wrong-with-the-igf/), but I found an archive of another blog post that talks about it.

  16.
  17. Quick story: Judges didn't play the game at all. Said they bought the game, rather than use the submitted version, and turns out it was the prequel of that game.

  19. (3) Elizabeth Sampat (https://twitter.com/twoscooters)
  20. Sampat works as a game designer as a mobile game developer company, but also has made games by herself.
  21.
  22. There are main 2 things about Sampat I wanted to share:
  23. First, she made a game called Deadbolt, nominee for Indiecade 2013
  24. http://deadboltgame.com/#home
  25. http://www.indiecade.com/2013/nominees/
  26.
  27. I tried to understand what kind of game is was, but it was hard to understand. It sounds like a game of truth/lies or something. Also there are very few instances of Deadbolt being played or explanation on how to play (closest thing: http://vimeo.com/73673576)
  28.
  29. Mattie Brice talks about Deadbolt: http://www.mattiebrice.com/tag/elizabeth-sampat/
  30.
  31. Please note that I haven't found any ties with IGF judges and Sampat, I'm just surprised how this game got nominated.
  32.
  33. Second, she also did a kickstarter for a tabletop game called They Became Flesh (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/elizabethsampat/they-became-flesh-a-game-of-god-humanity-and-the-f/comments)
  34.
  35. An award for backing the project was a limited edition leather book. She sold this book at GenCon before handing it out to backers, and many backers did not even receive the book.

  38.
  39. This story hasn't been reported anywhere as far as I can tell. She got away with it.
  40.
  41. Other miscellaneous things about her:
  42. She is also selling her previous games via paypal on her website (http://elizabethsampat.com/find-my-games/), however you can actually download these for free (legally) here: http://elizabethsampat.itch.io/
  43.
  44. She has been on a few panels in conferences talking about being a woman in the gaming industry (http://www.polygon.com/2014/3/21/5526472/cracking-through-myths-about-women-in-the-game-industry), including the #1ReasonWhy one
  45.
  46. https://www.linkedin.com/in/elizabethshoemaker
  47. Her linkedin states she is a committee member for IGDA Woman in Games Special Interest Group (2013 – Present)
