  1. Re: digitize --> CHANGES FROM DIGIMON WORLD 1
  2. While this game takes the same concept from Digimon World, there are a lot of differences in term of returning mechanics. This section is about the changes that makes running this game can be different experience and routing if you ever speedrun or even just play DW1 casually.
  3.
  4. --> Finisher/Special Moves
  5. Finisher is now carry over into next battles. This means if you're not using a finisher you can cast it instantly on next battle. This is important for early game or few conditions. On any% you will face a hard battle already on plains and forest which you need finishers to damage the boss so if you follow what tutorial said, congrats you will lose 5 minutes in the run because you will need to charge your finisher in Vitium 1 in plains. On NG+, you most likely will use digi-memories from your previous partner so knowing when to exactly use finishers also important.
  6.
  7. Finisher also charged differently for this game, if you see why in any% finisher is so fast charged, that's the thing. I don't know the exact mechanic for this but dealing and receiving damage will charge your Digimon's finisher. So being glass cannon will make your Digimon become finisher-spammer
  8.
  9. --> Dodges and Spawns
  10. This mechanic changed so bad. Unlike DW1 where dodges comes from baiting and movements, this game relying on Rock-Paper-Scissors with Vaccine-Data-Virus attribute. So if your Digimon is Data attribute, Virus Digimon will be aggresive on you (even if it's rookie/weak Digimon), Data Digimon will act neutral (you only battle if you're too close on enemy), and Vaccine Digimon will run away unless you chase and hit the enemy. Apply same concept into other attributes. However, if you get enemy repel (for NG+) this mechanic doesn't apply and simply makes all enemies run away, same as enemy bell that does opposite (don't buy this after I told you XD)
  11.
  12. Also encounter spawns also can be luck-based that even when you exit and re-enter same screen, enemy spawns can be different. This is the reason why I keep re-enter certain screen. You need a specific spawn where you can dodge without much trouble. There are also few enemies that really hard to dodge and you simply just better to fight it. One thing is even when few enemies are un-dodge-able you can use bait trick that makes Taiga will run into other side in the battle field, so when battle won you'll save frame because he is already step forward.
  13.
  14. --> Lifespan
  15. I'm not going for much details, it's obvious lifespan is different with your Digimon goes into 4 phases instead just 2 in DW1 (actually 6 for this game but just like DW1 you start with Agumon w/o Baby levels). However, each phase has short deadlines to get correct digivolve so the time management might be harder than DW1. For any%, you need to Digivolve in Day 3, 6, and 10 then dies in day 12. Just before the final boss you will get Chain Melon which extends lifespan to day 13 so plan carefully to not screwed up this speedrun.
  16.
  17. --> Care Mistakes (CM) and Stuffs
  18. Care Mistakes, while it's subjective opinion, it's simplified in this game. Also, same as DW1 it's still unclear but there is a concept we can take in re:digitize. You basically do CM if you don't fulfill what's your digimon wishes at that moment. Here is quick recap,including changes with happiness and discipline. More info can be found by SydMontague on gamefaqs.
  19.
  20. - While it's not directly affecting speedrun, CM doesn't reset on Digivolve. CM resets after your Digimon dies and reborn.
  21. - Foods including meat actually decrease the tiredness which is useful so that I actually rest so few times during the run.
  22. - Not feeding, pooping in the ground, and not letting sleep are obvious CM. Unlike DW1, CM for feeding is based on game clock (90 mins game-time)
  23. - Getting sick/tired is not CM, it may count CM when you're not curing it.
  24. - Happiness and Discipline directly affects lifespan (DW1 only depends on happiness). Both also decreasing over time when your digimon tired and/or sleepy.
  25. - Training while sleepy/tired shouldn't count as CM (DW1 counts on them). It only decrease happy/disc and can be easily fixed by feeding/pooping on time. DW1 also decrease happy/disc for training consecutive times, regardless tired or not.
  26. - tldr? Just see my Digivolve notes for easier time breeding :p

  28. Re:Digitize RNG Mechanic
  29.
  30. This is not fully a leak of how RNG rolls in this game. As I said, I don't know how to play with cheat engines etc. However, as I played this game so much, there are some noticable RNG rolls in some features for this game..
  31.
  32. Also unlike DW1, we can't manipulate RNG for this game with save and reload. What we can do is controlling and anticipating when RNG will rolls and randomized again..
  33.
  34. - Midnight RNG: This RNG will re-roll every midnight in-game time. If you save after midnight, when you save and reload this RNG won't re-roll. Noticable on Colosseum fights. Unless it's fixed enemy, enemies will be randomized. You can save and reload before midnight and trigger battles and see what each enemies contains. Sadly in speedrun this only used for fail-safe strat, in casual you can re-roll this as much as you want until you get battles you want.
  35.
  36. - Spawn RNG: There are two type of this: consistent and randomized. Enemy monster spawn on the field will always RANDOMIZED each time you change screen or reload the game. So you can use this opportunity to save and reload if enemy spawn in any% is awful. When you save in an area with item spawn like mushrooms, they will stay CONSISTENT even if you reload the file and get different enemy spawns (if you pick it, the items won't be there, neither new item spawns). This is useful on ice route for NG+, so if you fail the trial on Canyon just reload the game and guess the correct spot to avoid rockfall (same spot will always fail)
  37.
  38. Other RNG that not specified in this note is not figured out yet. Mini games (bonus training), monster spawns, bonus meats or discounts on shop are RANDOMIZED (As Far As I Know)
