Cyborg Background WIP

Background: When I was back on Earth, life wasn't so grand. My parents worked pretty much anytime they were awake, leaving me by myself most of the time. And to make matters worse, I...did not exactly fit in well back home. Sad story short, on a day when going home would not have been good for my health, I hopped aboard a transport shuttle without a care where it was headed. Lucky for me, it was not flown into the sun. Less lucky for me, it was bound for a recycling station, which is a fancy way to say trash heap. This particular one was operated by Ouroboros, and was a manned live-in work site, which was good, because it meant there were laws and people and an established community. However, with most of the station just being scrap heaps, I did not exactly know that immediately. Took a few years of trash raiding before I met Momni, who realized I was just a dumb kid and she started taking care of me. She got me in the station's registry, kept me fed, started teaching me, things...things a parent would do. Eventually she built (literally in one case) a whole family around us and that was nice.

Downside of not going through the proper channels: my body was more or less a wreck by the time I was adopted. See, with these recycling ships, it's a lot easier to modify your workers to survive safely in hostile environments than to make the environments safe. Longtime exposure to low doses of radiation, breathing toxic particulates, and myriad bacteria messed up my body something fierce. But Momni made sure I got enough implants, modifications, and replacements to be around for a very long time. I don't have much left that hasn't been modified, and sometimes I wonder what the people who knew me back on Earth would think. Anyways, Momni (and later Holope too) made sure I learned all about symbology so I could at least get a stable job and take care of myself. Funny thing about symbology is you can do a lot of interesting things with it, and I was apparently a bit of a natural performer. I started putting on illusory plays for the locals, focusing pretty heavily on fight scenes, and eventually I even started getting gigs in the administration city. Wasn't long before I had myself a merry little troupe and we've been playing together since. We even scheduled our first off-station show! At least, I wish it were so simple. In truth, the gigs are currently just a way to fund something personal. I'm trying to find someone, and loathe as I am to admit it, performances attract people looking for a high and that's my only lead to find them.

I met Momni soon after arriving on Ouroboros. I literally attempted to pick her pocket, and when she caught me, I guess my pitiful look did the job and she's been a mother to me ever sense. Absolutely a mama bear sort, she will literally rip someone's arms off if they threaten anyone she loves. I know, I've seen it happen. Granted, they were synthetic and she still repaired them herself because she just wanted to prove a point.

With all of the hard working folk on the station, it became apparent that there were a lot of kids and not enough parents to go around. Momni spun up an instance to operate as a daycare teacher for some of us. This particular instance is also Stella's and my full time parent on top of that. It felt weird at first, having a virtual parent, but honestly I love the hell outta them. Momni and I managed to hack their config and remove some of the arbitrary restrictions set up by default, so they're a full-fledged autonomous AI now.

Their story isn't all that different from mine, and Momni adopted them too. I did say I would NOT talk about their AMAZING fan fiction, or how ADORABLE they are in an attempt to embarrass them. They're a very gentle soul, but also very strong. Like seriously. People usually think I'm the younger sibling because of how much bigger they are. And how much I talk. And how unrealistic I am.

R4ge Rapptor
Race: Crooner
Occupation: Singer/Songwriter/Rapper
One of the best DJs ever and he doesn't even need any tech beyond a basic mic and speakers. He can mimic pretty much any sound, and it's really amazing to hear him live. Every now and then some poor soul thinks he's faking it and challenges him to a rap off and oof, even radiation shielding can't save you in a one on one with R4ge. We met when I started running some city jobs for Momni after he commissioned her for some new speakers. He saw some talent in some of my tricks and really pushed me to take my performances to the next level. I owe a lot to him. He records a lot of music and sound effects for my shows.

Blag is my editor and tech guy. I swear he's telepathic, cuz I always ramble my requests at him and without ever asking a question he manages to give me exactly what I want! Doesn't talk much in person, he's way more comfortable communicating over text. Do NOT trash talk him over online gaming or he will end you.

These twins are my partners in crime. R4ge invited me to one of their "one-person" plays and they're a riot, seamlessly swapping control of the body without missing a beat. We started working together on my battletop shows and we've been inseparable ever since. Even with only two bodies, having that third mind, my illusions, and Blag's tech really helps the performance feel way bigger. Australis is the more easygoing one, and while she's pretty mousy in real life, she has HELLA SWAGGER on stage. Borealis is very punctual and disciplined, but that guy can DANCE.

Occupation: ...drugdealer
It's...complicated. Long-term on again, off again, you know the drill. Well as Momni taught me more about symbology and some other things that would help me live without resorting to crime, I had less time with her and things became strained. I guess she also got self-conscious about the whole "no more petty theft or breaking and entering" thing and took it as an attack on her character. She started selling for the station's residential big fish in a small pond, even had to kick her out of a club for it once while working a bouncer gig. I wish I'd done something different, because after that she really started getting into the hardcore stuff, working with the supplier of her previous employer from what I hear, and moved off-station.
