  1. How to host an AoS 0.54 Server
  2. Windows master race edition
  3.
  4. For all the visual learners: http://imgur.com/a/chs6k
  5. Note:
  6. (This pic takes place in Windows 7, and actually, the whole guide is based out of Windows 7)
  7.
  8.
  9. *=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=* Introduction *=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*
  10.
  11.
  12. The basics of setting up a server for Ace of Spades is just the same as any other game...
  13. Get in the router/modem website; port forward the port; find out your IP address and masking IP address; profit
  14. This sounds easy but AoS has a very outdated system on creating a server
  15.
  16.
  17. FIRST OF ALL
  18. Don't listen to MPGH, the guide I saw for making a server uses a python script and it requires version 0.58, if you don't know that is not the version we are looking for, but the guide is pretty interesting if you want to try yourself (http://www.mpgh.net/forum/showthread.php?t=360209) <--- Link to guide
  19.
  20. Gamebanana is a modding community that does have some pretty sweet gun skins, but they are the worst at filtering out the 0.75 and the 0.54 from one another. In this guide they compress it to fucking hell, instead of telling you all the shit you need to do in the beginning, they skip it all, and go straight to starting the executable. Link to guide ---> (http://gamebanana.com/tuts/11061)
  21.
  22. TL:DR It's easy to make an AoS server, I have not seen many guides on making a server correctly (other than the pic linked above), some guides I have checked out are shit and hard to understand.
  23.
  24.
  25. *=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=* Chapter 1: Connecting *=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*
  26.
  27.
  28. First you need to find your default gateway to your router, knowing this will allow you to connect to your router (if you already have this step down and you have already configured your router, skip to Chapter 2 or 3)
  29.
  30. Go to your start menu, and type: "cmd" (Without quotation marks)
  31. Type: "ipconfig" (Without quotation marks)
  32. Find your default gateway, mine is 192.168.0.1, but yours might be different, so don't panic if it doesn't match
  33. Than go to your browser and type in your default gateway (ex. http://192.168.0.1), press enter
  34.
  35. Note:
  36. If you can't find your default gateway, it should be under your Subnet Mask alongside your IPv4 address
  37.
  38. By typing your default gateway in a browser, you should either be greeted with a login screen or a pop-up box asking for credentials
  39. This is the part where you have to search about your router/modem
  40. Type something in your browser like: What is the (Your router/modem name and model here) default username and password?
  41. Figure it out than log in
  42.
  43. Troubleshooting:
  44. If you changed the login (and forgot the username and/or password) or someone fucked with your router and changed the info, you need to find out how to factory reset it, usually it has something to do with your WPS button that some routers come default with, but to be sure you should take a couple of seconds to search online
  45.
  46.
  47. *=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=* Chapter 2: Setting up *=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*
  48.
  49.
  50. This part is not the fun part in this whole guide, in this Chapter, you are going to learn how to port forward this game
  51.
  52. Since all routers are different, it's hard to make this guide for EVERYONE, so keep your search engine open just in case
  53. Find out how to port forward on your (specific) router/modem
  54.
  55. Fun Fact:
  56. Port forwarding will allow people to connect to your server with ease by using one (or more) port number(s) as a highway to your server
  57.
  58. In Windows, go to your start menu and type "cmd" (Without quotation marks) <{Remember this part? ._.}
  59. Type "ipconfig" (Without quotation marks)
  60. And find out what your IPv4 address (For me, it's 192.168.0.2, but it may be different from yours, so don't panic if it doesn't match)
  61.
  62. Anyways, put 32887 in your start/end port section and the local IP address is going to be your IPv4 address
  63. The protocol has to be UDP, don't forget this part.
  64. Enable the forwarding, and you're close to being done.
  65.
  66.
  67. *=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=* Chapter 3: Getting the stuff *=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*
  68.
  69.
  70. After all this shit is squared away, you have to get a link to give the /v/ags to fondle with
  71.
  72. To do this you need to visit: http://www.romanito.com/aceofspades/ipconverter/
  73. Click "Your IP"
  74. It should show your computer's IP (DO NOT give this out to strangers, giving your IP address to someone could be dangerous) and it should also show a link, like: aos://1234567890
  75. This is what you will post on your thread for the /v/ags to connect to
  76.
  77. Note:
  78. Some guides say to type in your IPv4 address in the address bar, so YOU can join your own server, but I have experienced that (I) do not need to do this and (I) can simply join with the same link, if you cannot join but other people can, guess you should try putting in your IPv4 address in the "IP address" bar
  79.
  80.
  81. *=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=* Chapter 4: Starting the stuff *=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*
  82.
  83.
  84. In order to start the server, you need to go into your Ace of Spades folder which should be located in your C: Drive
  85. (To get to your C: driver you need to click on Computer and it should be Local Disk)
  86. Double click on server.exe
  87. type "gen" (Without quotation marks) this will generate a random map for your server
  88.
  89. Optional:
  90. If you have a pre-made map in mind or just want something different, consider visiting: http://aloha.pk/files/aos/maps/
  91. Once you download a map of choice, it should go into your "vxl" folder
  92. And when you start up the server, instead of typing "gen" type the name of the map instead
  93.
  94. Choose how many people you want on your server (1-32)
  95. Enter a server name (Whatever you want)
  96. I would recommend not advertising your server on the master server because the master server is kind of ded
  97. And than your done, but.
  98.
  99. Before posting anything, check to see if the server works for you, an added bonus if you have a friend or stranger that doesn't live on the same network as you to connect to your server
  100.
  101. Note:
  102. If you worry about people finding out your IP address to send pizzas to your house
  103. DO NOT WORRY the link is a mask of your IP
  104.
  105. Troubleshooting:
  106. If you cannot join the server (or anyone else) yet you see people joining you should first check where the "Ace of Spades" folder is located if it is located in any place other than the C: drive you didn't choose the default installation location delete it, reinstall it making sure to use the default location
  107.
  108.
  109. *=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=* LAST MINUTE SHIT *=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*
  110.
  111.
  112. You will need to find out if your computer is really allowing connections on port 32887
  113. Your firewall can be a bitch sometimes, but if you have your firewall disabled than forget about this part if you have it enabled than keep reading.
  114.
  115. On Windows 7 (Only version the pic would use)
  116. Go to: Control Panel -> System and Security -> Windows Firewall -> Advanced Settings
  117. Click "Inbound Rules" then right click on "New Rule"
  118. Click on Port, hit next, click UDP and type in 32887, click next, click "Allow the Connection", click next, check all of them and name it whatever you want
  119. Congrats! You have created a server for people to play on!
  120. Created on 2/4/17
