  1. “Buuble. What are you doing?”
  2.
  3. The Tan majin sat hunched over a table, slowly adding liquid from a vial into longer tube, filled with slowly boiling liquid. He could smell the kerosine from the bunsen burner she was using working overtime.
  4.
  5. “Mixin’ stuff, why?” Buuble, was unique. They’d met some time ago, and had connected. ‘Connected was one way to put it.’ He thought. She’d asked to be let into his lab because she was bored. He agreed. Months later and now it was…. Different. First they’d become friends, then partners and now finally hovered between the area of couple, and lovers.
  6.
  7. He stopped to take out a cigarette, pausing to light it, the hiss of burning paper adding to the ambiance of the small burner working away on the table the Majin was using. At first he’d been confused about how he felt about the woman. Majins terrify him, still do. But after spending months with her, first becoming friends, then more than friends, it had lessened somewhat. Now he could genuinely say she made him happy. But he was unsure what to call what they shared. They never really talked about. Just content to be in each others presence.
  8.
  9. He inhaled, taking a drag of his cigarette, feeling the familiar scratchy feeling of smoke filling his lungs.
  10.
  11. There was a loud explosion, followed by a feminine screech.
  12.
  13. And sighed out, the smoke coming out of his mouth in a long trail.
  14.
  15. “Targos, help, I’m on fire!”
  16.
  17. He watched her flailing, the chemical flame eating away at her clothing but little else. He began mentally counting own. ‘Three, two, one..” There was a loud snap, followed by a hiss, as the sprinkler system went to working, spraying fire retardant foam across the lab, coating himself and the panicking form of Buuble. There was another feminine screech as the cold foam touched her and set to work extinguishing the flames.
  18.
  19. It was over in a few seconds, he was staring at her with a flat look the cigarette was now damp and hanging limply from the corner of his mouth, while she glared back at him, her red and black eyes narrowed in a glare as she tried to retain her decency with what little clothing she had left.
  20.
  21. He spat the butt out onto the floor. “So, what were you mixing.”, he drawled.
  22.
  23. “Stuff.” She replied sullenly.
  24.
  25. “What kind of stuff?”
  26.
  27. “Dunno, things I found laying around in one of the cabinets. I was bored.”
  28.
  29. “Yeah, don’t do that.”
  30.
  31. “Why, you do it all the time, it looks easy!”
  32.
  33. “Yes, but I’ve spent over twenty years doing it. I know what everything is this lab does when it’s mixed together. You do not.”
  34.
  35. “Then teach me!”
  36.
  37. His eyebrows shot up at that. “I don’t thin-” He began.
  38.
  39. “Don’t care, I wanna’ learn.” She said angrily.
  40.
  41. He shrugged, and with a muttered ‘yes dear’ he stood up from his chair. Her eyes narrowed further, increasing her glare to deathly levels as he walked over to a drawer, taking a box out of it. He brought it back to the table, motioning her over, so she could see it. The art on the front was colourful, depicting weird shapes and sizes of coloured goo and rocks.
  42.
  43. “What’s that?” She asked.
  44.
  45. “It’s what I’m going to use to teach, we’ll start you off with the simplest thing in the world. Making candy.” He told her.
  46.
  47. The smile he received from her was absolutely beatific. “I love you, Targos.”
  48.
  49. He couldn’t help but smile back.
