  1. NEW FOR HONOR PLAYERS, READ THIS:
  2.
  3. Greetings! Welcome to For Honor, and enjoy your stay. I'll go over some of the basic shit you need to get started. If I refer to any moves in the game, I'll use the actual term and not the controls used to do them, as they're different for each platform.
  4.
  5. [---PART 1 - Startup---]
  6. One of the first things you'll be asked to do is pick a faction. It doesn't REALLY matter which one you pick, but Knights are the best so pick Knights. Seriously, pick whatever you enjoy. These factions interact with eachother in Faction Wars as the game goes on. NOTE that you do not have to pick a certain faction to play a specific Hero. A Knight CAN pick a Viking Hero, at no penalty whatsoever (other than shame). Then, make your emblem. Make it cool. Make it a Swastika. Except don't, as you'll get reported.
  7.
  8. You'll be prompted to complete a basic tutorial that shows you the basics of the game. I'm not going over that shit, go and do it yourself. Afterwards, you'll be given 2000 STEEL. It's the currency the game uses. DON'T SPEND IT. Just finish reading this first.
  9. As soon as you're done with the tutorial, go and do the ADVANCED TUTORIAL. Open the menu and find it somewhere, then do it. You'll get a further 1500 Steel. Don't spend it. 3500 Steel is actually quite a bit, and you'll want specific things to spend it on rather than just blowing your load on something stupid.

  12. [---PART 2 - Preparation and Hero recruitment [READ FIRST]---]
  13. You've got steel and you're not a complete noob anymore. Go and practice VS AI for a bit. This'll give you a little look into how the game actually works. Try out each mode at least once against AI. Try a few different Heroes out. Get a feel for them. DON'T RECRUIT THEM YET. I know it looks like you need to before you can play them, but you DON'T. YOU CAN PLAY A HERO WITHOUT RECRUITING THEM. Don't be the stupid fuck I was and recruit all the Heroes with your Steel. You can CUSTOMISE AND UPGRADE Heroes after recruiting them. However, you can play the base Hero without having to do this. Get a feel for the Heroes you like, THEN recruit them. 500 Steel takes some time to get back provided you're not a creep that spends all their free time on this game like I do.
  14.
  15. When you've got some heroes you like, you'll notice that at the end of a match you get some XP and random loot and shit. Look at the stats it gives you and decide if you want to equip it or not. You can equip other stuff by opening the menu and going to "Customise Hero". It's not fucking hard. Notice that you can also dismantle stuff and get some SALVAGE back from it. Don't bother with this just yet. At higher levels, if you're not going to use something for sure, just dismantle it. No point keeping it in your inventory. You'll notice you can get these Crates that give you random loot in. DON'T FUCKING TOUCH THEM. Don't fucking do it. I know you're going to anyway but you'll regret it. The loot you get from it scales with your level. Save your Steel until your rank with a certain Hero goes up enough to actually get good shit from those Crates. Don't blow your load all over getting Peacekeeper gear now because once you play 15 more games with her it'll be fucking useless. Seriously, save your Steel and wait to splurge it all later. You won't regret it.

  18. [---PART 3 - Playing the fucking game---]
  19. Once you've settled for a Hero and your post-Crate regret has sunken in, you're going to want to get fucking good. Look at the movesets for the Hero and work on using them. Understand the mechanics of the game. What's a feint? When should you parry? I don't fucking know. For each Hero there are basic and advanced videos for them. WATCH THESE. These are useful. Try drilling yourself VS AI or VS people to learn the combos and what to do. I'm sure there are some decent youtubers out there for this kind of thing too.

  21. Don't get pissy if you lose. You're going to lose. A lot. For Honor isn't one of those games where you get instant gratification. You'll need to put in effort and hours to see improvement. No one has played for an insane amount of time but the general consensus is that people can see themselves fucking up less the more hours they put in. If you find yourself saying "cliff throws are bullshit" don't stand where people can push you off fucking cliffs. If you're bitching about Nobushi, watch their basic/advanced videos and find out how to play them. Once you know how to play them, you know how to play AGAINST them. Treat situations as if they were real life. The more you know about an opponent the easier it is to beat them.
  22.
  23. Everything else you want to know you can ask for in the thread. Learning this beforehand won't make you seem like a complete retard at least.
  24.
  25. Fight the good fight brothers. FOR HONOR!
