  4. These are a few questions that I anticipate being asked about this game. Some are game questions, others are not.
  5. (Feel free to message me if you have a question that's not here)
  6.
  7. Q: Why are you running Mario Golf: Advance Tour?
  8. A: This is the first golf game I got into. It's also one of my favorite games. I loved it when I got it and I still love it today.
  9.
  10. Q: What do you play this on?
  11. A: GBA cart on GB Player.
  12.
  13. Q: What categories are there for this game?
  14. A: There are four of them: Singles Story, Doubles Story, All Tourneys, and 100%.
  15.
  16. Q: Which category do you like to run?
  17. A: Singles story is the most fun to run and most fun to watch in my opinion.
  18.
  19. Q: Why don't you run the other categories?
  20. A: Because the AI is atrocious in this game. I can understand the added challenge for doing a doubles speedrun because of the inconsistency of your partner, but the only thing your partner doesn't fail at is short putts. It's also very slow when the game takes control of your partner. The constant downtime pushes these categories to at least eight minutes longer than a Singles game.
  21.
  22. Q: Will you be returning to Doubles Story Runs?
  23. A: Nope. I've experimented enough with it. The run I posted (although flawed) is the one I'm keeping.
  24.
  25. Q: What is the difference between Neil and Ella?
  26. A: Neil- Starts at 205 Drive, Ball trajectory goes up as you level, Shot goes Draw as you level.
  27. Ella- Starts at 200 Drive, Ball trajectory goes down as you level, Shot goes Fade as you level.
  28.
  29. Q: (If I'm Ella) Why Ella?
  30. A: Ella is faster due to one key asset, lower ball trajectory. Basically, the ball is going to fly lower. The less time spent in the air, the better. This means that you don't have to waste level ups to correct it like with Neil, which means more distance level ups. Also, Ella's Fade Shot comes in handy more often than a Draw Shot.
  31.
  32. Q: (If I'm Neil) Why are you doing runs with Neil if Ella is better?
  33. A: Because I think that both characters are different enough that they should have their own separate category. If not that, perhaps a donation incentive if I get this run into a marathon of some sort.
  34.
  35. Q: Is there some sort of theory that explains how you use the spins?
  36. A: Sometimes. If you want to play it safe, my tip is to use Super Backspin when swinging 1W-4I and use Backspin when swinging 5I-SW. If you use the correct spin, the ball will stop quicker. Topspins are rarely used, but come in more as a backup strategy in case I undershoot a ball.
  37.
  38. Q: Why do you avoid uphill slopes?
  39. A: When you stop on an uphill slope, the ball height trajectory increases. This means that your shot is going to fly higher than normal. However, the opposite happens when you land on a downhill slope.
  40.
  41. Q: Why do you putt from the Fairway/Semi-Rough/Rough? How do you know when you use enough power?
  42. A: When you are barely off the green, putting is much faster than chipping and can also be more accurate.
  43. A: I'm judging this from using an entire long putt bar in said terrain. Fairway reduces putt distance by 50%. Semi-Rough reduces putt distance by 85%. Rough reduces putt distance by 90%. Fast Fairway increases putt distance by 105%. If you're putting from a spot I didn't mention, you should quit playing this game. Taking those percentages into consideration, you may be able to determine how much power to use. Truthfully, I'm never sure. All I can say is practice practice practice and try to hit the pin every time.
  44.
  45. Q: When putting, why hit the pin?
  46. A: Unlike previously installments, the pin in this game absorbs quite a bit of putt power. You can still bounce off, but it requires a lot of extra power to do so.
  47.
  48. Q: What score do you need to win the tourney?
  49. A: After doing some testing, I have come to these numbers.
  50. For Singles:
  51. Marion +3
  52. Palms ±0
  53. Dunes -3
  54. Links -4
  55. Mushroom -3
  56.
  57. For Doubles:
  58. Marion +5
  59. Palms +4
  60. Dunes +3
  61. Links +2
  62. Mushroom +3
  63.
  64. Q: Did you just quit the hole?
  65. A: Yes. If I am doing well enough during a tourney, I can quit a hole (sometimes two holes) and still place 1st. The holes I quit on are usually the longest holes of each course. Saves about a minute depending on the hole.
  66.
  67. Q: What is the WR?
  68. A: The Singles Story WR is 55:46 held by CardsOfTheHeart.
  69. The Doubles Story WR is 1:12:31.68 held by Aurilliux.
  70. The All courses Story WR is 2:29:58 held by Aurilliux.
  71. The 100% Story WR is 9:04:38 held by Aurilliux
  72.
  73. "I could beat your record"
  74. A: I never said my times couldn't be beaten. If you think you can beat my records, go for it. I'll gladly verify the run for you once you get it. I will of course try to get it back shortly after.
