  1. -*- Jaspersprite ... Maybe he shouldn't have said that, after all-- but ever since he put the two and two together, he was /overwhelmed/ with guilt and despair. Dante was always a good friend to him! To the very end, through thick and thin. Him and Jaspers-- they were like a team! Or bros, as he'd occasionally label it. The sickness shown on Vergil's face is hardly matche
  2. <Jaspersprite> d by Jasper's grimace, but it came close. "Maybe it would be best if he did not know then. I still feel bad though." Even if he was a monster, as Jaspers would say it, and even if he was shaking in his metaphorical boots at the aspect of the guy in general...
  3. -*- Jaspersprite It'd take a lot more than that to make Jaspers forget how close he was as a friend.
  4. -*- Jaspersprite Even if he scared him and almost let him get hurt really bad.
  5. -*- VV|AT "...Y-yeah," Vergil agreed quietly, still fighting down the bile in his throat. "I...I don't think he would blame you." It wasn't Jaspers' fault it had happened. Jaspers hadn't left him there with complete strangers when he should've been the one protecting him. And Vergil certainly didn't want the feline sprite feeling guilty about it.
  6. -*- VV|AT And so, he swallowed again and added, "It's not your fault. Not at all." Then stopped, as though searching for the right words. Or something to say.
  7. -*- VV|AT As it was, he simply remembered that he was just as guilty, if not moreso, as the cat and leaned back against the nearest counter. "If anything. It's mine for not realizing sooner," he managed through a constricted throat. Slaughtered animals they caught in the woods. Yeah, right.
  8. <Jaspersprite> "You couldnt have known." Jaspers reassures-- his tone confident in saying so, for once, before his tone retains it's previous frailness. He wanted Vergil to be sure, though-- nobody could have known. They were extra sneaky, even for Jaspers! "You may not understand because you are not a cat like me--"
  9. <Jaspersprite> "But the whole time there i could tell that they were up to no good. I know these things it is like a sixth sense of mine! I thought it was just me though like how sometimes cats get scared of loud things even if it is not anything bad? So i didnt say anything."
  10. <Jaspersprite> "I bet if i said something everybody would have been okay though and not eaten. It is not your fault though! Nobody could have known for sure."
  11. <Jaspersprite> "I bet dante would be really sour at me and i would deserve it too. :<"

  25. -*- VV|AT Vergil hadn't had that feeling. Vergil had thought everything there was great and perfect and it really, really looked like home if he didn't look too closely, and that should've been his first clue.
  26. -*- VV|AT But Jaspers was trying so hard, and... He sighed, looked up and focused on Jaspers for the first time in a while. "No, it's not your fault. Like you said, n-no one could've known absolutely. Dante wouldn't be sour at you at all." He paused, tried to think of something to add to the awkward reassurance. How did Dante do this? How did Mom do this? She'd always been good at reassurances.
  27. -*- Jaspersprite you did p damn well son chin up
  28. -*- Jaspersprite wanna go to mickey ds later
  29. -*- VV|AT "H-he might like to see you sometime, in fact." He'd definitely like that. Dante liked most things these days. Didn't really get upset. At all. Refused to acknowledge when anything was wrong.
  30. -*- VV|AT Yeah, he'd love to see Jaspers.
  31. -*- Jaspersprite ill even turn a blind eye when you try to stab the hamburglar
  32. -*- VV|AT "Maybe n-not right now, though." He really didn't want Jaspers in the room when he hand-fed his brother and then promptly retreated to the bathroom to retch with the thick door closed, and Dante either wouldn't hear or wouldn't say anything, and all would be okay. As it had been for a while.
  33. -*- Jaspersprite Jaspers pondered this for a few stale moments. Seeing Dante again? He's not sure if he'd be ready for that, frankly. He was so... viscious, the night at the farm. It wasn't the first time he scared him, either. Vergil at least showed some vague trace of restraint, some form of reasoning, and needless to say the same can't be said for Dante. To be fair, he
  34. <Jaspersprite> had a lot to be angry /about/ all those times, but...
  35. -*- Jaspersprite Still. It was horrifying to witness, and even more horrifying to think about the next time it might happen. "... Maybe. I can even draw him something to make him feel better! Even though i might be a little bit afraid still. I am sorry. 3:" ... Oh!!! That reminds him. He almost completely forgot it, what with so many... misfortunes striking the manor.
  36. <Jaspersprite> "I almost forgot! I was gonna give him something. Something real nice that i made just for him a little while ago. I was gonna give it to him after we had dinner but. Uhm."
  37. <Jaspersprite> "Meow. 3:"
  38. -*- Jaspersprite A tentacle reaches into his suit pocket to carefully, oh so carefully retrieve a folded piece of paper. A bit wrinkled from sitting in there for so long, but what's a cat to do. "If you see him later maybe can you."
  39. <Jaspersprite> "Uhm."
  40. <Jaspersprite> "Give him this? I mean-- i mean if you do not mind you do not have to if you do not want to i am sorry. 3:" http://oi48.tinypic.com/2qmmcdh.jpg

  59. -*- VV|AT Well, they're both keyboard instruments anyway]
  60. -*- VV|AT Vergil refrained from raising an eyebrow but took the paper with a quiet assurance, "I do not mind. Don't...apologize." He examined it thoughtfully, half-tempted to open it. But he was aware enough to know that it wasn't for him, and so tucked it carefully in the pocket of his coat. "I will give it to him when I go back upstairs." Which he...probably should, at some point, so Dante didn't get worried.
  61. -*- VV|AT ...Not that he probably would. Dante didn't get worried very much these days.
  62. -*- VV|AT Speaking of which, there was still the dilemma of food. He could return with nothing, but that would bring up the awkward question of why, and then Dante would probably want to see Jaspers, and the feline hadn't seemed too keen on that...
  63. -*- VV|AT "...It's okay to still be afraid of him, by the way," he added softly, at that thought. "He can be frightening and beyond control." Even, Vergil silently admitted, for himself. "But...j-just understand...the Dante you know -- the one who played Mary Kate and Ashley with you -- would never hurt you. It would kill him if he were to hurt you or any of his other friends."
  64. -*- VV|AT ...That was more than he'd intended to say, really. He hadn't thought out the entire speech beforehand. But now that it was out of his mouth, he decided it was true. And, in fact...
  65. -*- VV|AT "I think...I think th-that's part of why he doesn't remember what happened, very well. He was very injured and his mind was very injured, but..." He paused, uncomfortable. "He would hate himself for doing that even to bad people."

  90. <chthonianArfslinger> [why not]
  91. -*- Jaspersprite /Whatever/ the heck is in that! Not that he cares. Fancy feast is full of deliciousness and deliciousness is all for me! :3]]
  92. -*- Jaspersprite Jaspers takes in Vergil's speech. It made sense, in a lot of ways. Even though Dante lost his temper sometimes-- a lot of times-- most of the time-- he never wanted anybody to really get hurt, let alone Jaspers. "Oh." He simply mutters, empathizing with Dante's condition. "I would feel bad too i think. Hurting people is bad no matter what. :<"
  93. <Jaspersprite> ".... I hope he feels better soon though. He does not deserve to be sad. Nobody does."
  94. -*- VV|AT Hurting people is bad no matter what.
  95. -*- VV|AT Jaspers said something after that, but it didn't stick near as well.
  96. -*- VV|AT Hurting people was bad? What if it was your brother shrieking in rage and pain and bleeding and scorching all over? What if it was your brother with a body half-eaten by something supposedly good and holy?
  97. -*- VV|AT What if it was your brother, addled and confused and hurt in so many ways, humanity smothered out by fear and pain? And it was bad to want to shred them to pieces and leave them there to suffer?
  98. -*- VV|AT There was a brief pause, and Vergil shuddered. He had felt nothing, slaughtering those people ruthlessly. Or, if he had, it had been held at arm's length, his mind pure and icy, stoic in the face of his own horrific acts. He still thought they deserved it.
  99. -*- VV|AT And that scared him. Where Dante was horrified, he...couldn't quite bring himself to regret it. Hate himself for it? Easily. But not regret it. They'd torn his brother apart. Didn't deserve to just receive little wounds they would heal from. Dante would probably never heal. At least, would never be the same.
  100. -*- VV|AT He was willing to be a monster if they got what they deserved.
  101. -*- VV|AT ...but he couldn't tell Jaspers that. Not at all, after coming so far in just one conversation. Not when the cat still seemed willing to tolerate him, probably wrongfully so. It was selfish to lie, to omit, he was sure, but...
  102. -*- VV|AT He didn't want Jaspers to hate him. Least of all, he didn't want to deserve Jaspers' hate and still be forgiven. He'd been through that before. It resulted in simultaneously what was nearly the deepest sense of relief as well as the most potent self-loathing he'd ever felt.
  103. -*- VV|AT He didn't know if Jaspers would forgive him. But he didn't...didn't want to risk it. Didn't deserve it.
  104. -*- VV|AT "...I, uh." But what to say? He looked away, crossed his arms tightly, and cleared his throat. Maybe if he just changed the subject... "I c-came down to get Dante some food. It seems like the crab had q-quite the feast on what w-was in the refrigerator. Do y-you have any idea what e-else there is?"
  105. -*- Jaspersprite It was smart, for Vergil not to mention that. Of all the things Jaspers wouldn't mind giving up, his morales would be far from any of them. You simply can't just give up your humanity for something like that. Your humanity was one of the only few things you had left, in the bubbles. And there were better ways than hurting people, no matter what reason.
  106. -*- Jaspersprite There was /always/ another way.
  107. -*- Jaspersprite But none of that needed to be said, thankfully. Jaspers wouldn't be sure if he could forgive Vergil, either. At least not so easily. He tilts his head to the side at Vergil's inquiry, before remembering... that dad. That dad that was also a crab. /Oh/.
  108. -*- Jaspersprite glances around the emptied kitchen.
  109. -*- Jaspersprite glances to the muffin held in his tentacles.
  110. -*- Jaspersprite ...
  111. -*- Jaspersprite offers it?
  112. -*- Jaspersprite 3:'
  113. -*- chthonianArfslinger [u tried jasps]
  114. -*- Jaspersprite He nibbled it a little already, but...
  115. -*- Jaspersprite It was still good enough to eat! He thinks so, anyway. And it's not like Dante would get cooties or something. Cat cooties.
  116. -*- VV|AT Vergil stared at the muffin, and then uncertainly unravelled his arms to take it. "Th-thank you," he mumbled, pretending his hands weren't shaking fiercely. But it...probably wouldn't be enough, he realized, examining the nibbled edge.
  117. -*- VV|AT Dante had been eating ridiculous portions lately -- ridiculous even for them. They both had always been big eaters -- felt like they were starving if they missed a meal -- but Dante had taken it to another level, as though his body actually needed the extra energy to heal.
  118. <Jaspersprite> "I could find something else though. A muffin will not be all that filling i think! And dante must be super hungry. :<" He's sure he could dig something up, after all! He was a master hunter. Even if this was technically foraging. Same thing! He's a cat of many talents. "This one time i knew a girl that gave me lots and lots of tuna cans. A whole lot! I almos
  119. <Jaspersprite> t ate all of it myself but i didnt. He can have some of that! :3"
  120. -*- VV|AT Oh -- Jaspers was way ahead of him, rapidly making the offer and coming up with the solution by the time Vergil's sluggish mind, still half-caught in unpleasant thoughts, managed to catch up. Tuna. "O-oh. Yes, th-that would work. I can m-make a few sandwiches for him." White bread, of course. Dante hated wheat.
  121. <Jaspersprite> [[Oops I]]
  122. <Jaspersprite> [[Got called away I am sorry omo]]
  123. <Jaspersprite> "Yes yes that sounds nice." ... Part of him wants to ask if he can have one, too. Sandwiches are nice! And so is tuna. A tunafish sandwich, though? He hasn't heard of much that was better than that. A grin hesitantly begins to cross his features-- nothing too wide, his own mind lingering to less than pleasant thoughts, but it was a start. Like the begining o
  124. <Jaspersprite> f a bon fire. "I will pour some milk for him too! <:3" He promised, already reaching into his sylladex. It always took a little bit of time to take anything out, though.
  125. -*- chthonianArfslinger oh lord
  126. -*- chthonianArfslinger what
  127. -*- chthonianArfslinger exactly
  128. -*- chthonianArfslinger is jaspers' sylladex
  129. -*- Jaspersprite But his Yarn Modus was so much fun! Batting at something until the yarn around it unravels completely. Most days he'd just pick up little odds and ends just to play around with it!
  130. -*- chthonianArfslinger oh my god
  131. -*- Jaspersprite ... Sometimes people get a little upset when he picks things up without asking permission first, though. And with good reasoning! Stealing is also a thing that is bad, even if he doesn't mean to most of the time.
  132. -*- Jaspersprite Batbatbat. Purr. Before you knew it, the cans come toppling out of his sylladex and onto the floor with a clatter. Phew! That sure was fun. He doesn't know why people use complex and frustrating modii when they can just have something fun instead! It's like a game.
  133. -*- Jaspersprite A game that you get rewarded for with something in the end! 83

  135. <-> Jaspersprite is now known as Jaspers|toThemax
  136. -*- VV|AT Oh. O...kay?

  141. -*- VV|AT That was...actually kind of fascinating. He'd seen cats and, uh, cat-like creatures play with string before -- had one particular cat-like creature become remarkably fascinated with the end of his coat, at one point. It had been very...trying to his patience, but he'd managed to very stiffly ask her to stop.

  148. -*- VV|AT He focused on gathering up the cans that had toppled out onto the ground. "Thank y-you," he said quietly, though he was fairly sure he'd already said it. Twice, maybe. And then rifled through the kitchen drawers until he found a can opener.
  149. -*- VV|AT Ttch-pop! A sound any self-respecting feline would recognize.
  150. -*- Jaspers|toThemax oωo
  151. -*- VV|AT For Vergil, it simply released a smell that was inherently meaty. The can opener clattered onto the counter as he backpedaled rapidly until he roughly hit the opposite counter and leaned there heavily, looking ready to vomit.
  152. -*- VV|AT In retrospect, he probably should've thought that through more.
  153. -*- Jaspers|toThemax Jasper's belly lets out a ferocious growl on cue. To Vergil's thanks, he simply nods excitedly-- eyes locked on the freshly cracked open can of tuna. He hardly payed attention to Vergil's sudden disgust with the /positively/ /scrumptious/ scent, running his tongue over his furry lips.
  154. -*- Jaspers|toThemax He's taken every oppertunity to watch the commercials for this stuff. He even has the jingle down pat! The aspect alone makes him want to burst into song-- though, the last time he did, he was chased by a particularly... persnickety puppy girl. And it was just the worst!

  175. -*- alastorArchbabby|cattyCarole Seeing how the two boys were both preoccupied with two very important things-- really, what could possibly be more important than tuna-- they probably didn't noticing the oncoming storm behind them.
  176. -*- alastorArchbabby|cattyCarole That is, the oncoming storm of...butterflies!
  177. -*- alastorArchbabby|cattyCarole They had fluttered and swooped into the dining room and kitchen, resting gently on every possible surface. They came with shoots and vines, branches and saplings that seemed to shoot up into trees. The dining room had been slowly, but surely, transforming into a natural paradise. In fact, it had been doing so for some time.
  178. -*- alastorArchbabby|cattyCarole They just didn't take the time to see.
  179. -*- alastorArchbabby|cattyCarole Heehee.
  180. -*- alastorArchbabby|cattyCarole But now there was no way they couldn't notice it, not when the bunnies and birds and butterflies had invaded the kitchen as there new home. Not when the grass was starting to grow just underneath them. And especially not when the drawers were becoming rapidly overgrown with vines. Not little vines, either-- great big vines with impossibly colorful flowers bursting out of it.
  181. -*- VV|AT Vergil held his breath but that only seemed to trap the scent in his lungs. He lifted his eyes enough to glare at the offending object --
  182. -*- VV|AT Was that...Was that a rabbit on the counter, sniffing at what would be his brother's dinner?
  183. -*- alastorArchbabby|cattyCarole If one were to look behind them, they would see no living room.

  192. <alastorArchbabby|cattyCarole> [yES IT IS SAFE TO WRITE FOR NOW]
  193. -*- Jaspers|toThemax His gaze was glued to the can, as though if he looked away for a /second/ it'd make a break for it. He'd just like to savor the sight before ultimately digging in-- completely forgetting who the tuna was intended for. It's not like he couldn't just... open up another can, or two. There was enough to go around! More than enough, really. The alchemiter was
  194. <Jaspers|toThemax> put to excellent use, that day. ... Though now that he thinks about it, the alchemiter was pretty darn pointless! Dreambubbles, and whatnot. The possibilities were /endless/. He could... he could...
  195. -*- Jaspers|toThemax Have a tHOUSAND cans of tuna, if he wanted. Even though he'd become a pretty darn chubby kitty. And he didn't wanna be a chubby kitty! It was only when a rabbit of all things began to cross the countertop that the sprite began to notice something was up, his gaze slowly peeling itself from the can to the rest of the kitchen. Or. What /was/ the kitchen.
  196. -*- Jaspers|toThemax ... Handy won't be too happy with this. 3:
  197. -*- VV|AT Vergil pressed back against the counter until it was digging painfully into his lower back, as though he could escape from whatever was overtaking the room by doing so. The scent of tuna still remained -- if anything, it got heavier, as though by the will of whatever entity was slowly overrunning the place -- and he abruptly felt tendrils of a vine crawling up the fingers he'd wrapped around the edge of the counter.
  198. -*- Jaspers|toThemax But Handy would probably be the only one. It was /beautiful/-- from the unnaturally beautiful flowers to the rays of sun breaking through the leaves and branches above. It was such an astounding change of scenery that made the manor seem like a distant memory. And /good/. He'd rather turn tail to the building and never look back. For now? This was probabl
  199. <Jaspers|toThemax> y as far away as he could get from the mansion. And it was good enough for Jaspers.
  200. -*- VV|AT he'd wrapped around the edge of the counter. He reeled back and almost managed to land on his side, catching himself on a branch roughly. "Wh-what..."
  201. -*- Jaspers|toThemax ... Though, maybe that wasn't as good as Jaspers thought. The farm was like that, wasn't it? Perfect and beautiful, to the dirt to the sun to the white house with a picket fence.
  202. -*- Jaspers|toThemax This could be the very same. A trap. Something that could make him feel safe as can be, lower his defenses, and then... *gulp*.
  203. -*- VV|AT His already-sick stomach jolted -- what about the stairs? Were the stairs blocked?
  204. -*- VV|AT ...Were the stairs still there? Everything looked completely different, like they'd been taken to another place entirely. He started for the door -- and if he didn't almost step on another bunny and then stumble weakly against the wall, he'd have drawn his blade and started hacking away at the undergrowth.
  205. -*- alastorArchbabby|cattyCarole What stairs? This is a forest, silly!
  206. -*- Jaspers|toThemax He considered this for a few seconds, scrunching his nose up at the aspect. It could be just like the farm. Vergil was here, too. He's not sure if he's ready to go through something as awful as that. Not again.
  207. -*- VV|AT As it was, he simply pushed himself upright and flattened his back on the wall, feeling very close to vomiting on that rabbit. Everything was wrong here and it was way too nice and he just wanted to get back to his brother.
  208. -*- Jaspers|toThemax ... But then there was that melody in the distance, louder every second spent listening. It was accurately what he always wanted his meows to sound like, but he could never quite get them there. Could it really be that awful, if that were the case? There were no farm people. No barn. And the tenseness that he felt at the dairy was nonexistant.
  209. -*- Jaspers|toThemax He thinks these things as he eats from the can of tuna.

  213. -*- Jaspers|toThemax 3:>
  214. -*- alastorArchbabby|cattyCarole The melody grew with each passing second, becoming clearer and clearer as the forest grew on. You can almost make out the lyrics now, along with a few ruffle and thumps. It's almost like.
  215. -*- alastorArchbabby|cattyCarole Like someone's in the trees itself.
  216. -*- alastorArchbabby|cattyCarole But to certain people, certain panicking people, that probably didn't matter at all. Because they would only hear one thing.

  218. -*- alastorArchbabby|cattyCarole "whennn you're faaast asleeeeep~"
  219. -*- Jaspers|toThemax Maybe Jaspers was less concerned than he should have been. He was somewhere completely different-- somewhere he didn't know, with a time bomb looking like he's just seen a ghost. ... Which is ironic! Dave likes irony, he should have heard that one.
  220. -*- alastorArchbabby|cattyCarole "in dreams you will loooooose your heartaaaaaches~"
  221. -*- alastorArchbabby|cattyCarole It was a voice so perfect and clear, with a hint of everlasting cheer.
  222. -*- alastorArchbabby|cattyCarole It could only be one person.
  223. -*- Jaspers|toThemax But it was so beautiful, so captivating, Jaspers couldn't quite find himself desperately searching for a way out-- or worry about getting back. He didn't know if he wanted to, yet.
  224. -*- VV|AT What. The. Fuck.
  225. -*- Jaspers|toThemax Swear.
  226. -*- VV|AT The world went on pause. A bluebird landed on his foot and all he could hear was his pulse thrumming in the ears and that too-familiar, too-beautiful voice.
  227. -*- Jaspers|toThemax And that voice-- so joyful and pretty, it was like not a thing in the world could bring it down. The source was certainly nothing he's ever heard before-- nobody from the mansion, that much was clear. Nobody at the mansion ever sang, anyway-- at least as far as Jaspers was aware. It was only ever him, for the most part. And even /that/ was just meowing.
  228. -*- alastorArchbabby|cattyCarole "whatever you wish forrrr you keeep~"

  232. -*- VV|AT He swallowed even though his mouth was dry, far too dry, and his sword appeared in hand, going for the door to cut through the underbrush that had grown there -- anything to get to where the stairs should be. Anything to get away. He was barely even thinking at that point.
  233. -*- alastorArchbabby|cattyCarole The voice was loud and clear now, a brilliant but soft soprano. An oak tree ruffles, off in the distance, as a white and blue blur hops out of it. 240. -*- alastorArchbabby|cattyCarole A bluebird nervously fluttered onto the ground, pecking away at some worm or other on the ground. A deer and her fawn peacefully rested in the underbrush, resting for now. The sun shining and clear, clearer than it had ever been before. All was still. All was perfect.
  241. -*- Jaspers|toThemax ... No, that'd be silly. That's definitely a girl's voice! Besides, John isn't a very good singer. He heard him, one time! He tried, though. And that is what matters! If you try your best, you can only get better. That can of tuna he snacked on was long since captchalogued while the rest were left to be sniffed at by passing critters of the forest. He'd c

  431. -*- PurpleKoopa i'm stroking the computer screen but i'm not feeling any fur
  432. -*- PurpleKoopa is this like one of those bald cats or something
  433. -*- alastorArchbabby|cattyCarole The deer says nothing, but goes nowhere either. The creature hasn't done anything. For now. It might be safe. Maybe. Maybe safe.

  436. -*- alastorArchbabby|cattyCarole It bleats a bit, though.

  438. -*- alastorArchbabby|cattyCarole Now you know what a deer sounds like, Jaspers!
  439. -*- VV|AT It was too long -- only a few seconds -- before he could inhale shakily without it coming back out as something just short of a sob. And then he pulled back, shakily, jerkily, coughed to pretend it wasn't a sob.
  440. -*- Jaspers|goodnessGrace It sounds funny. But that's neat! You learn something new every day. He never /heard/ a deer before, let alone see one. This is nice, even though.
  441. -*- Jaspers|goodnessGrace Even though the nice sounding cat lady was crying and so was Vergil--
  442. -*- VV|AT The hair was too blue, the face too round, to be his mother's. Nevermind the huge, warm, gentle paws wrapped around him, the claws poking his back a little but nothing he wasn't tough enough to take, nothing he hadn't experienced before (much less willingly, then).
  443. -*- VV|AT (...Or, he'd have you believe it was unwilling. And it was mostly unwilling.)
  444. -*- alastorArchbabby|cattyCarole Sniffle. Maybe she was crying. Maybe just a little bit. But that was okay. Everything was going to be okay. She believed in this so soundly, so strongly, that even now she could smile. It was a tearful and twitching smile, maybe, but it was no less great than all her other smiles.
  445. <alastorArchbabby|cattyCarole> its okay vergil
  446. <alastorArchbabby|cattyCarole> you can cry if you want to
  447. <alastorArchbabby|cattyCarole> i promise i wont tell anyone
  448. <alastorArchbabby|cattyCarole> not even your brother
  449. <alastorArchbabby|cattyCarole> :,3
  450. -*- alastorArchbabby|cattyCarole It was a little bit strange and a little bit new, having him hug her this much, but...
  451. -*- alastorArchbabby|cattyCarole She was glad he did.
  452. -*- alastorArchbabby|cattyCarole The little fawn bleats too, hiding behind her mother's bulk. You probably didn't even see the little bugger, did you?
  453. <Jaspers|goodnessGrace> "Oh! You have more friends. Or is this your son? He looks nice. We can all be friends! I think i would like that."
  454. <Jaspers|goodnessGrace> "A lot of my friends turn out to be not so good sometimes. But you will not be like that will you!"
  455. <Jaspers|goodnessGrace> "..."
  456. <Jaspers|goodnessGrace> "Will you? 3:"
  457. <Jaspers|goodnessGrace> "I hope not. Friends are some of the most important things in the whole wide world! Especially here."
  458. -*- alastorArchbabby|cattyCarole The deer has no idea what he's talking about. But he seemed to be safe and he hadn't made a move against her son yet, so...
  459. -*- alastorArchbabby|cattyCarole Probably safe enough to lick.
  460. -*- alastorArchbabby|cattyCarole Lick.
  461. -*- Jaspers|goodnessGrace Eep!
  462. <Jaspers|goodnessGrace> "My fur is sticky now. 3:"
  463. -*- alastorArchbabby|cattyCarole Blink blink.
  464. -*- VV|AT But he was already scrubbing mercilessly at his hollow eyes, barely listening to the gentle assurance, his other arm still wrapped around one of her shoulders. He had to pull it together. He had to...he didn't know. Do something. Crying wasn't going to change anything. Crying over Mom and Dad had never changed anything. Crying over someone who was there, essentially in his arms, was completely worthless.
  465. <VV|AT> [did that get cut off]
  466. <Jaspers|goodnessGrace> [[I don't think so]]
  467. <Jaspers|goodnessGrace> [[It ended with 'arms was completely worthless.']]
  468. <VV|AT> [Oh, ok -- it didn't, then. owo]
  469. <Jaspers|goodnessGrace> [[Mhm]]
  470. <-> Jaspers|goodnessGrace is now known as Jaspersprite
  471. -*- VV|AT He didn't know what to say. So instead, he stepped back stiffly, red around the eyes when he finally dropped his arm. "C-come on, let's..." He glanced at the doorway, completely overtaken except for the dent he'd made with his blade. "I'll...i-introduce you to J-Jaspers." Anything to give her something to do while he...while he thought? While he processed? He didn't know.
  472. -*- Jaspersprite He perks up at the mention of his name, turning from the deer to look at the duo. Oh, gosh. They look so sad still. He can't say for sure, because he's... all the way over here. With this deer. But he's at /least/ 75% sure that they were worse for wear.
  473. -*- alastorArchbabby|cattyCarole ...He didn't hear her, she thought. He was still trying to hide his tears, even while sniffling away like a lost little boy, so he could be strong. He always wanted to be strong. No, no, perfect. That's how his brother always worded it.
  474. -*- Jaspersprite Jaspers just doesn't like it when people are sad. Especially when he can't even do anything about it! That's what's the worst. He hates feeling like he can't do anything when his friends need it the most. ... Not even his friends, really.
  475. -*- Jaspersprite Nobody deserves to be sad! :<
  476. -*- alastorArchbabby|cattyCarole "s'like he wants t'be mister perfect all day, erry'day."
  477. -*- alastorArchbabby|cattyCarole And Felicia didn't think there was anything wrong with that, not at first. Sister Rose always said that she should always strive to the very best she could be! That was a little bit like that, wasn't it?
  478. -*- alastorArchbabby|cattyCarole But as it turned out, it...it wasn't like that at all.
  479. -*- alastorArchbabby|cattyCarole But that was okay. It would take a little time, maybe. He wasn't really used to crying in front of everybody, but she'd.
  480. -*- alastorArchbabby|cattyCarole She'd help him through it. That's all she could really do, wasn't it?
  481. -*- alastorArchbabby|cattyCarole That was all anyone could do, really.
  482. -*- alastorArchbabby|cattyCarole So...so she'd do the best she could possibly do!
  483. -*- alastorArchbabby|cattyCarole "o-oh yes id love to meet your furriend!" She beamed, trying her best to break through her tears. It wasn't working, not yet, but that was okay. It would take a little time. Just like everything else.
  484. -*- alastorArchbabby|cattyCarole She glanced at the cat, hovering just around the deer babies, and gave a shy wave. Hello there, Mister Kitty. Everything was, um.
  485. -*- alastorArchbabby|cattyCarole Everything was okay now.
  486. -*- alastorArchbabby|cattyCarole <:,3
  487. -*- Jaspersprite The shy wave is returned with an equally shy one of his own. Yes, uhm.
  488. -*- Jaspersprite Everything is okay.
  489. -*- Jaspersprite (He hopes.)
  490. -*- alastorArchbabby|cattyCarole (She hope so too)
  491. -*- VV|AT At her agreement, he ignored her still-dripping tears and led her (gently, by the elbow) toward the pink betentacled princess feline sprite ghost, clearing his throat as though that would stop it from breaking.
  492. <VV|AT> [stop his voice from breaking even]
  493. <Jaspersprite> [[His throat breaks in two on the spot]]
  494. <Jaspersprite> [[Felicia is less than pleased]]
  495. -*- Jaspersprite eVERYTHING WAS /OKAY/]]
  496. <Jaspersprite> "... Are you okay now? The both of you i mean you were--"
  497. <Jaspersprite> "You were crying. 3:"
  498. -*- VV|AT So unlike its usual smooth, even tones. He elected to ignore the comment about crying and power onward (mostly because he didn't know what to say). He coughed again and then spoke (croaked): "So-sorry, Jaspers." It was mumbled, brief, and then he moved on. "Felicia, this is Jaspers, a...friend of ours; Jaspers, this is Felicia, a player from the game Dante and I played." Died in. But he didn't need to say that part.
  499. -*- VV|AT Introductions were easy. Familiar. Something his mother had taught him -- introduce the new friend to the old friend first, or the younger to the older, and then the opposite. The proper way of doing it. Not that he'd had all that many chances to do so.
  500. -*- alastorArchbabby|cattyCarole Oh. He had noticed them crying. Well, she supposed that couldn't have been helped. He was standing right there after all! But.
  501. -*- alastorArchbabby|cattyCarole Vergil probably didn't like that. Probably only made him feel even worse. That wasn't good. Wasn't good at all. 3:
  502. -*- Jaspersprite ... Oh, gosh. He didn't mean to make anybody feel worse! Not at all! He was just concerned, and--
  503. -*- alastorArchbabby|cattyCarole She wanted to try and smooth it out, opening her mouth to say that everything was fine now, but--
  504. -*- alastorArchbabby|cattyCarole Vergil beat her to it. 3:
  505. -*- Jaspersprite 3:>
  506. <Jaspersprite> "No no no do not say sorry. It is good to cry! Otherwise you will bottle it all up--" He balls his tentacles up a little, as close as fists as he could hope to achieve. "-- and one day it will blow up all over your friends and everyone will be sad. Ker-splooey!" The balled-up tentacles are then splayed outward, doing their best to simulate an explosion. For e
  507. <Jaspersprite> mphasis. "... Sorry. Uhm."
  508. <Jaspersprite> "Yes hi i am jaspers! Felicia is a nice name. You have a pretty voice i think. :3"
  509. -*- alastorArchbabby|cattyCarole Not that she minded! Introductions were important, after all! Sister Rose told her that she should always introduce her friends first before anything else. Old friends first, then new friends. And you never left until you were absolutely sure everyone was getting along.
  510. -*- alastorArchbabby|cattyCarole She.
  511. -*- alastorArchbabby|cattyCarole She missed Sister Rose sometimes.
  512. -*- alastorArchbabby|cattyCarole She had looked everywhere for her too, but...
  513. -*- alastorArchbabby|cattyCarole ...But Sister Rose wouldn't want her to be moping like this. She would want her to be brave and kind and make everything better. So she didn't. She didn't mope at all.
  514. <alastorArchbabby|cattyCarole> its okay jaspers you dont need to apologize or anything
  515. <alastorArchbabby|cattyCarole> hell
  516. <alastorArchbabby|cattyCarole> hell be okay <:3
  517. <alastorArchbabby|cattyCarole> anyway its very nice to meet you i just know well be the best of furriends just like all my other furriends!
  518. <alastorArchbabby|cattyCarole> oh and
  519. <alastorArchbabby|cattyCarole> thank you
  520. -*- VV|AT Ker-splooey! Vergil flinched, visibly, and focused on the ground. Didn't say anything. He'd experienced that before. That build-up, years of stubbornly refusing to communicate with his brother or anyone else, and eventually...
  521. -*- alastorArchbabby|cattyCarole It is said with the most humble smile she can offer, because she just knew that's what Sister Rose would've wanted. 'Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring.', that's what the Bible said.
  522. -*- VV|AT ...it hadn't been pleasant. Wright had gotten the bad end of it, he thought. Wright and Felicia -- the second time he'd managed to make her cry. He hoped only the second.
  523. -*- alastorArchbabby|cattyCarole Besides. Nobody liked a boaster.
  524. -*- alastorArchbabby|cattyCarole (Unless that boaster was Dante.)
  525. -*- alastorArchbabby|cattyCarole (He had a special way of doing it, she thought!)
  526. <alastorArchbabby|cattyCarole> i practice every morning and every night so i can be in tip top shape :3
  527. -*- Jaspersprite /Very/ /very/ /special/.
  528. <alastorArchbabby|cattyCarole> but not all the time though 'cause that hurts your voice and makes it all hoarse and icky
  529. -*- VV|AT ...He'd rather focus on what Jaspers was saying. About her voice. They'd sung a duet once, before Dante was stupid enough to use the transportalizer when Vergil insisted it was a stupid idea -- it had been that morning, he was fairly certain. It had been. Nice.
  530. <Jaspersprite> "Oh gosh i hope so. Friends are nice! They are one of the most important things to have if i do say so myself." He felt a little bit silly, repeating himself the way he has-- but it was a point that he wanted to be sure was known. Because it was true!
  531. <Jaspersprite> "I like to sing too! Well sorta. I meow in front of the window sometimes and practice as much as i can! Especially when it is sunny and warm. Purr purr."
  532. <Jaspersprite> "Sometimes though people do not like it when i practice my meows though and they get upset with me. :<"
  533. -*- Jaspersprite ... Oh, gosh. Vergil looked even /worse/ now. Was it something he said? It must have been. He really needs to stop upseting people the way he is. 8<
  534. -*- Jaspersprite almost considers offering tuna to make him feel better, but the notion reminds him of the reeling after opening all but a single can. Jaspers didn't understand why that was! Tuna is simply the bestest. Tuna and milk and sometimes fancy feast if he has been a good kitty.
  535. -*- Jaspersprite ...
  536. -*- Jaspersprite He's gonna make himself hungry at this rate. 38
  537. -*- alastorArchbabby|cattyCarole Oh yes! Furriends were most definitely important! There was never a time when it wasn't important! She was ready to eagerly agree with him, but--
  538. -*- alastorArchbabby|cattyCarole Oops, they were already moving on! Apparently, he sung a lot too! In the morning, when things were nice and sunny. That was always the best to sing, she always thought. Lazily lying on top of the St. Anne's roof, chirping along with the birds. She loved nothing else!
  539. -*- alastorArchbabby|cattyCarole Well, except for a lot of things.
  540. -*- alastorArchbabby|cattyCarole But she loved that most of all!
  541. -*- alastorArchbabby|cattyCarole ...Oh, but what was this? People were booing him off the roof? Ugh, no, that was not okay. A determined pout crossed her face as Jaspers recounted his harrowing tale. "well--"
  542. <alastorArchbabby|cattyCarole> you shouldnt listen to those people because those people are mean and dont know what theyre talking about!
  543. <alastorArchbabby|cattyCarole> anyone can get good at something if they remember to practice and wish hard enough!
  544. <alastorArchbabby|cattyCarole> thats what dreams are made out of! purractice and patience!
  545. <alastorArchbabby|cattyCarole> i could even help you a little bit if...you...want?
  546. -*- alastorArchbabby|cattyCarole Oh. Oh no.
  547. -*- alastorArchbabby|cattyCarole Vergil wasn't looking very okay. 3:
  548. <alastorArchbabby|cattyCarole> um
  549. <alastorArchbabby|cattyCarole> vergil are you okay
  550. -*- Jaspersprite Practice and patience. He always had as much of both as he could! He tried and tried and tried until he couldn't try any more. And then he rested for a while and tried again! He likes to think he's getting much, much better. But...
  551. -*- Jaspersprite ... Oh gosh he really doesn't look okay.
  552. -*- Jaspersprite Almost a little regretful, if Jaspers isn't mistaken. No, he definitely wasn't mistaken. He could tell. He saw the very same look on Rose's face during their session, more times than he would have liked.
