The heart that aches

The pain inside gives me the shakes,
This is how I describe the heart that aches.
It is tender like a bruise,
It's affected by the smallest news.

It almost feels like a cramp in my leg,
For this to end I earnestly beg.
I can see this my take a while,
But I feel better each time I smile.

Laughter makes me feel like I can live,
With each passing chuckle the pain starts to give.
Who knew something as simple as a smile could change my day,
And make my sadness go away
