  24. Traits:
  25. Professor Starlight is the professor of artificery and arcane devices at Canterlot University, and an amateur rockets and space travel enthusiast. A genius, having one of the highest IQs in Canterlot [despite thinking the tests are, as he puts it *nonsensical*], he has designed numerous machines that ponies today take for granted, such as many of the engine variants used by modern airships and trains, and the current system of indoor plumbing used throughout Equestria. His hobbies include reading, gardening, and traveling. Almost ten years ago, Professor Starlight was testing a new form of rocket propulsion, when the prototype exploded, throwing him through the air, causing his neck to collide with an exposed [and sharp] fencepost that had bent over during a storm a few nights prior. The resulting spinal stab wound nearly killed him, and inflicted below the neck paralysis [rendering him quadriplegic] and speech defects [and eventual muteness]. Ever the industrious, the Professor designed for himself an advanced magitek wheelchair and speech synthesizing device. The chair carries him from place to place, tends to his biological functions, and manipulates objects through the two mechanical "arms" attached to its side. The entire device is powered by Starlight's horn [as thankfully the parts of his nervous system governing magic were unaffected by the injury].

  27. As part of his ever-increasing desire to travel, and more then that to see new worlds, he has decided to be one of the first to travel the newly revealed portal systems.
