  1. It has come to my attention that Steam was "hacked". Before you believe that and panic, you may want to know this:
  2.
  3. Valve is having server-side caching issues allowing users to view things such as account information of other users. Don't use the Steam Store for now.
  4. The best way to protect yourself is to completely avoid Steam Store websites for now.
  5.
  6. To repeat, do NOT visit any Steam Store links. Doesn't matter what you want to do, do not visit any of them.
  7. Do NOT attempt to unlink PayPal, remove your credit card details or anything else. Doing so will put you at risk instead.
  8. To make sure, unlinking your PayPal account from Steam via the PayPal site alone is fine. Unlinking through Steam is NOT.
  9.
  10. The only things that are leaked:
  11. 1. amount of money on your account (just seeing the number, no actual access)
  12. 2. account name
  13. 3. email (your e-mail password IS SAFE)
  14. 4. purchase and market history
  15.
  16. Things that were not leaked:
  17. 1. Credit Card
  18. 2. Phone
  19.
  20. That is all. Merry Christmas everyone!
