- <Hopebot> Welcome back guest_78, you were known as guest_19 earlier. You recently said: "can I try it now? if yes than what I have to do?";
- <camerongray> guest_78: Just to clarify, you have a modem that connects with an ethernet cable and want to use it with that router?
- <guest_78> yea.
- --> db100547 ([email protected]) has joined #computerhope
- <camerongray> Then unfortunately you can't do it - That router you have is designed for a DSL internet connection only and therefore cannot connect to your modem
- <-- db100547 ([email protected]) has quit (Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client)
- <camerongray> You will need a router that is described as a "Cable" router which will give an ethernet port that is designated for your modem
- <guest_78> so now what should i do??
- <camerongray> Your only real option is to buy a different router then either return your current one if at all possible or try selling it on again
- <guest_78> it means it is useless now.
- <camerongray> Unfortunately yes
- <camerongray> However others may buy it for only slightly less than you paid
- <guest_78> okay
- <guest_78> okay
- <guest_78> let me check
- <guest_78> thanks
- <camerongray> No problem
- <camerongray> Basically, if a router mentions "ADSL" then it is not suitable for your connection
- <guest_78> okay..
- <camerongray> Something like this: http://www.flipkart.com/d-link-dir-600m-n150-wireless-router/p/itmdtg79yhtrykah?pid=RTRDTG78BGXPBE3H&otracker=from-search&srno=t_14&query=cable+router&ref=7bf7a0ae-c18e-4832-89fe-133480045364
- <camerongray> If you look at photos of the ports on that you will see the yellow Ethernet port for your modem: http://www.fashionfolder.com.bd/wp-content/uploads/2014/06/D-Link-DIR-600L-Wireless-N150-Cloud-Router-11.jpg
