Bio:

        Alison grew up as one of many heirs to an influential Polarus family that built its foundations upon careers in the Imperial military. While the rest of her brothers and sisters spread across the Empire, Alison was one of the cursed ones, the "horned children", and she was assigned to stay with her merciless aunt in Zull to oversee the puppet regime which ran the former Oligarchical Republic and its vast wealth. Feeling the task of managing slaves to be a bother, she put her efforts into mastering staff magic and exploring a cult of the Mother that emphasized the pain of humanity not as a curse, but as an essential human drive that would allow them to walk with the gods.

        Displeased with the new turn of faith after discovering Alison engaged in one of its many rituals, Alison's aunt restricted her freedoms to roam unattended. This was in addition to the demeaning demands always placed on her for her ebony horns, which required that the young woman stay out of sight of important guests unless called. Disgusted by the petty politicking her aunt and family engaged in as well as their insistent refusal to acknowledge Alison's "crown" as a mark of glory rather than shame, Alison removed herself from military training and escaped her armed guard at an opportune moment, fleeing from Zull and then the continent to find new opportunities. She vowed to return to her family one day, but it would be on her own terms and as her own woman. The Empire had a weakness within its heart and it would only be made to understand its folly if it remembered how to suffer.
