  1. Possibly super important:
  2. Run the game and go to options > key config and change CONTROL TYPE to FULL - SIDE 1P
  3. Some people have also reported success with PAD1. I think game pads work in either configuration, but play around with it until you get it working.
  4.
  5. Windows Vista and Windows 7 Home version user notice
  6. You'll probably have to run the th09.exe in compatibility mode ( Windows 98 / Windows Me)
  7. Right click th09.exe > properties > Compatibility tab > and pick from there.
  8. If you're using wine on linux, you can use winecfg to set the compatibility mode.
  9.
  10.
  11. DOWNLOAD:
  12. First off, make sure you have version 1.50a of PoFV. If not, the patch can be found here:
  13. http://www16.big.or.jp/~zun/data/soft/th09_ver150a.lzh
  14.
  15. Download Adonis1 and/or Adonis2 from the following links:
  16. http://www.mediafire.com/download/h45xp2aa2tu5lnn/pofv-adonis1.zip
  17. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/11812361/pofv/adonis2.zip
  18. Unpack the archives, and dump the contents in your PoFV folder.
  19.
  20. CONFIGURING ADONIS:
  21. First of all, go into PoFV's key configuration located within the game's options, and make sure the Control Type is set to 'full'.
  22. While not necessary, you may wish to edit adonis_config.ini file and locate:
  23. [PlayerName]
  24. Name = NoName
  25. Change 'NoName' to whatever you want your user name to be.
  26.
  27. It's also worth noting that you'll need to copy/rename your game exe files if you want to have each adonis open the English-patched version of PoFV. Rename th09.exe (Japanese) to something else (like th09j.exe), and copy th09e.exe (English) to th09.exe. The reason for this is that adonise.exe opens th09e.exe and adonis2.exe opens th09.exe.
  28.
  29. RUNNING ADONIS:
  30. First of all, start up adonis.exe. If you're running Vista, make sure to run compatibility mode for Windows NT for PoFV and Adonis. If you need Applocale to run PoFV make sure you use Applocale to run adonis.
  31.
  32. You'll now be greeted with a command prompt. The basic run down is:
  33.
  34. s: Host (or h for adonis2)
  35. c: Join
  36. w: Watch
  37.
  38. The host will need to input the desired port. Any users wishing to join or spectate will be asked to input the IP address, and then the port (note: only adonis1 supports spectators). If you're using a router, be sure to forward any ports you are using.
  39.
  40. After someone connects, if you're the host, you will need to input the latency. This will be a number between 0 and 9 and will need to be adjusted depending on the ping. Typically, the default value should work fine, although adding 1 can sometimes help with desyncs.
  41.
  42. Delay 0 - 2ms
  43. Delay 1 - 33ms
  44. Delay 2 - 66ms
  45. Delay 3 - 100ms
  46. Delay 4 - 133ms
  47. Delay 5 - 166ms
  48. Delay 6 - 200ms
  49. Delay 7 - 233ms
  50. Delay 8 - 266ms
  51. Delay 9 - 300ms
  52.
  53. e.g - A delay of 5 would be used for a ping between 134ms and 166ms
  54.
  55. TROUBLESHOOTING:
  56. Q: Adonis closed without doing anything!
  57. A: Try running adonis from a command prompt so that the window doesn't close before you can read the error messages.
  58. To do this, shift+right click on the pofv folder, and click "open command window here". Then, simply type "adonis.exe" without quotes (or adonise.exe or adonis2.exe) to run the program. If you're using adonis2 or a non english patched adonis, the error message may be in Japanese, but you can google translate or ask a friend to figure out what it means.
  59.
  60. Q: I can't connect!
  61. A: The host may be already be playing, stopped hosting or is not allowing any spectators. There's also the possibility of connection problems on the host's side. If this is the case you may want to offer to host instead.
  62.
  63. Q: My opponent is ramming into bullets and not moving with any coherency, are they really that bad?
  64. A: The game has probably desycned. Rehost/reconnect.
  65.
  66. Q: I haven't unlocked some characters, will this stop me from using them via netplay?
  67. A: No. All characters are unlocked during a netplay match.
