  1. # Building
  2.
  3. ##General
  4.
  5. For builds, check [this page](http://www.smite.guru). While building in Smite is very situational, grappul offers a nice basic build that off of which
  6. you can base your own, optimized build. If you want me to go into details on a certain item / on all of them simply say so and I will.
  7.
  8. ##Useful items
  9.
  10. **Blink**: Blink is relatively nice on Anubis, as it gives him a way to initiate a fight without having to slowly walk there. His 2 is relatively easy to hit at short distances, so blinking in and getting off his combo is often a good way to quickly take out an opponent.

  12. #Skills
  13.
  14. ##Skilling
  15. Keep in mind that everyone has their own preferences and that the "best" way to skill is the one that best suits your playstyle. There are, however, some basic guidelines that are worth following, which are what I'll try to list below.
  16.
  17. ###Priority
  18. 4>3>2>1
  19. ###First five levels
  20. 1/3-/3-2-3-4
  21.
  22. *Get your 1 if your enemy has no way of cancelling it, your 3 if he does (I'll go into more detail on that in the section "Tips")*
  23.
  24. ###General
  25.
  26. Don't skill until the very second that you're going to use it. Keep your skillpoint ready incase the enemy tries to invade / your team needs you. Be ready to put a point in your escape ability if you need to get out quick: it's better to
  27. lose out on a little bit of earlygame power instead of giving away first blood.
  28.
  29. ##Sorrow
  30. All of Anubis' abilities steal Physical and Magical Protection from the target and he gains increased Scaling to his item-based Magical Lifesteal. In addition, Sorrow grants Anubis an additional 30% reduction to all Crowd Control durations.
  31.
  32. ##Plague of Locust
  33. A plague of locusts bellows forth from Anubis' mouth, smothering all enemies in the area and doing damage every .5s for 3s. Anubis is immune to Knockback while channeling.
  34. ##Mummify
  35. Anubis fires a bandage projectile, mummifying and Stunning his target.
  36. ##Grasping Hands
  37. Anubis calls for help from the underworld as hands penetrate the ground and claw at his enemies, doing damage and Slowing every .5s for 2s.
  38. ##Death Gaze
  39. Anubis focuses all of his energy into a piercing gaze, doing damage to all enemies in the path, every 0.1 seconds for 3 seconds.
  40. #Tips
  41.
  42. ##General
  43. Anubis is a very easily gankable God. He doesn't have a real escape and his only form of peel are a 2s stun (at max rank) and a 25% slow. He also has pretty awful mobility, making him an even likelier target of ganks. His ablities also have limited range
  44. and / or are more easily dogeable at larger distance, as such positioning is especially important on him. Not getting out of position and positioning yourself in such a way as that you can catch your opponent out in the open is vital to playing a good Anubis.
  45. Combining his lack of escapes with his insane damage potential makes most engagements the "kill or get killed" type. The main things to look out for if you're playing Anubis is CC / skills that can counter / interrupt your own skills and stopp your deadly combo.
  46. The nature of Anubis' skills also makes Relics incredibly potent counters to him. Purification allows your opponent to break your CC (which is on a very long cooldown) and Sanctuary allows them to negate most of the damage your ult could do to them, so keping track of your opponents' relic's cooldowns is vitally important.
  47. ###Sorrow
  48. His passive sort of helps to balance out his lack of mobility. The reduces CC duration helps you get out of situations that would otherwise have killed you. The additional lifesteal (**Important: He doesn't have natural lifesteal, he simply has additional scaling on his item based lifesteal, this part of your
  49. passive will be non-existant if you have no lifesteal built**) helps him survive fights, as he's easily targetable in his rooted states (during his 1 and 4). The protections steal further helps that aspect by making himself tankier and his opponents more susceptible to damage. It's worth mentioning that his passive not only
  50. reduces magical protections but also physical, which makes his large AOE attacks a valuable source of protection removal for his teammates also.
  51. ###Plague of the Locust
  52. This ability has both amazing base damage as well as good scaling (240% if you were to hit someone for its whole duration). The large area that it applies to makes it the perfect farming tool, allowing you to clear waves faster than anyone else. **However** using this ability roots you in place and due to the shape of the cone you'll
  53. have to be quite far pushed up if you want to hit the whole wave with it. Not only does this make you an easy target, but it also makes it very easy to interrupt you. If you're laning against someone like an Isis, she's likely to always cancel your 1 with either a stun or a silence. While you're not knock-up immune, it's worht mentioning that you are
  54. knock back immune, making it a good tool to counter Gods like Hercules when his 2 is down. Against good opponents, you're unlikely to be able to farm with this ability (since you're so easily punishable) and you're much more likely to use it as a follow up attack when their escape / CC is on cooldown.
  55. ###Mummify
  56. This ability is what sets up your combo. The projectile, while not exceptionally slow, isn't particularly fast either, so you'll have to aim ahead of your opponent if you're using it at mid to long range. You can follow up with pretty much any of your abilities, but the most common combo is 2->3->4 or 1.
  57. Mummify ensures that you can easily land your 3, which will not only damage your opponent but also slow them, making it easier to hit your follow up attacks. It has quite a large cooldown and is your main way to peel enemies off you, so don't use it if you're expecting to be ganked.
  58. ###Grasping Hands
  59. This will be your main lane clear ability after the first few levels. It has a good size and allows you to stay at a save distance (in contrast to your 1). The damage is pretty nice and the slow, although not the strongest of slows, is relatively effective due to the big size within which it applies. You can also use this ability through walls, so make use of that either to cut of enemies' escape routes or even just to share a camp with your teammates without having to walk all the way around.
  60. You can also use this skill defensively when escaping, placing it under yourself gives you a tiny bit of peel, which might just be enough. Keep in mind that, if you built lifesteal, you'll get lifesteal off of your 3 as well, making it a good tool to quickly heal up on a wave during a longer fight.
  61. ###Death Gaze
  62. This skill is pretty easy to understand, but the timing for it is hard to master. This skill is what allows Anubis to turn a 2v1 gank around and just decimate both opponents. It's most effective at close-medium range; where they're well within it's max range but not close enough for them to easily dodge it by running around you in circles. As such, your 2 - 3 combo is the perfect set up, not only holding them in place (and later slowing them), but also removing their protections and giving you additional ones, making them
  63. more vulnerable and you more tanky (which is often needed seeing as how you're in a rooted state for it's duration). Additionally, you also get CC immunity for the duration, so use it for that aspect if you need it (e.g. to counter enemy ults). It's also important to remember that you can cancel out of it early if you need to, which is especially important if your opponent used sanctuary to counter your ult. This largely depends on who you're facing, what level they are, what skills they have on CD and if you can expect a gank soon (either by your team or theirs),
  64. but Anubis is often relatively vulnerable once his combo is down, especially if he's up against someone who still has their ult. So while the sanctuary can't completely block out the damage (the ult lasts longer than sanctuary), it does for the most part, so unless you're sure that you can kill them even with the majority of your ult damage blocked, it might be wise to just cancel it early and run.
