  1. "something that is created with imagination and skill and that is beautiful or that expresses important ideas or feelings"
  2. (created with imagination AND created with skill AND (is beautiful OR expresses important (ideas OR feelings)))
  3.
  4. Me taking a shit on your doorstep:
  5. "Created with imagination" - It challenged my imagination because I had to come up with it.
  6. "Created with skill" - It challenged my ability to move unnoticed.
  7. "Expresses important ideas" - It's the embodiment of my counter-argument. A counter-argument is an idea.
  8.
  9. Come to think of it, what ideas or feelings are "important"?
  10.
  11.
  12. Lets try working backwards and take something that is already supposed to meet the requirements.
  13.
  14. Malevich's black square:
  15. "Created with imagination" - It's a black square. Does it really require imagination?
  16. "Created with skill" - Once again, the only skill it requires is the ability to move the hand you're holding the brush with. Subjective?
  17. "Is beautiful" - Subjective.
  18. "Expresses important ideas" - It doesnt express anything. Whether or not the ARTIST is TRYING to express something with it is a different matter entirely, as it judges the artist rather than the piece of art.
  19. "Expresses important feelings" - Same as with ideas.
  20.
  21.
  22.
  23. By that definition, anything that is considered as "art" is basically an attempt at trying to create it. Kinda odd how all "art" from older eras meets slightly higher demands to match the definition rather than people shitting on eachothers doorsteps.
