  1. The hooded form of Abderus, a black-robed triton stands here, hands clasped.
  2.
  3. This triton priest is robed in long swathes of black cloth, clasped at his waist
  4. by a plain leather belt. Upon his blue-skinned feet he wears a simple pair of
  5. sandals adorned by a single brass buckle. Abderus's features are almost entirely
  6. obscured by the deep black hood which tops his garment, an occasional flash of
  7. brilliant aquamarine eyes visible when he turns his head. Embroidered upon the
  8. back of his sable robe is a large circle, sewn in threads the colour of stone or
  9. a stormy sky. A subtle hint of salt fills the air around the triton, seafront
  10. smells wafting upwards from his clothes.
  11. Abderus, a black-robed triton appears to be extraordinarily strong.
  12. He weighs about 175 pounds.
  13.
  14. --[ DAY 1 ]------------------------------------------
  15.
  16. Abderus, a black-robed triton tells you, "I could have been away with your
  17. fabled pirate hoard by now... do you live in that bell, Captain Blackheart?"
  18.
  19. You tell Abderus, a black-robed triton, "I find it peaceful."
  20.
  21. You smirk at Abderus, a black-robed triton.
  22.
  23. You say with a rough Meropian accent, "Greetings Triton."
  24.
  25. Abderus, a black-robed triton says, "Greetings."
  26.
  27. Abderus, a black-robed triton says, "The seas are rarely peaceful, Captain."
  28.

  30.
  31. Abderus, a black-robed triton's eyes sparkle with amusement.
  32.
  33. Abderus, a black-robed triton says, "Especially now..."
  34.
  35. You say with a rough Meropian accent, "Perhaps. Though those troubles do not reach me."
  36.
  37. Zulah leans his weight heavily on a crystal-topped ebony cane.
  38.
  39. Abderus, a black-robed triton says, "A choice or a regret I wonder?"
  40.
  41. You say with a rough Meropian accent, "A regret if ever I had any."
  42.
  43. You smirk.
  44.
  45. Abderus, a black-robed triton says, "The answer I hoped for."
  46.

  52.
  53. You say with a rough Meropian accent, "Intriguing. Where there is strife, there
  54. is profit and adventure."
  55.
  56. You rub your hands with greed, seeing an opportunity to make more money.
  57.
  58. Abderus, a black-robed triton says, "Even in the depths of the oceans, your name
  59. begins to spool its current, divinable by the subtlest of augurs."
  60.
  61. Abderus, a black-robed triton says, "Every answer makes me more pleased than the
  62. last."
  63.
  64. Abderus, a black-robed triton says, "Hmm, hmm."
  65.
  66. Abderus, a black-robed triton says, "Tell me of your views of the world below,
  67. Captain."
  68.
  69. You pause for a second in contemplation.
  70.
  71. Abderus, a black-robed triton says, "Your thoughts, and prejudices."
  72.
  73. Abderus, a black-robed triton says, "Loves and hatreds."
  74.
  75. Abderus, a black-robed triton says, "I am curious."
  76.
  77. You smirk.
  78.
  79. You say with a rough Meropian accent, "I have spent my years gathering
  80. information on the Triton states more known to land lubbers. Though I hold no
  81. allegiance to any, the Scyrians relentless lust for battle and clear military
  82. organization has always held my interests."
  83.
  84. Abderus, a black-robed triton nods carefully.
  85.
  86. Abderus, a black-robed triton says, "I speak... of more spiritual matters."
  87.
  88. Comprehension flashes across your face.
  89.
  90. Abderus, a black-robed triton says, "The city-states have fought for millenia in
  91. endless, interminable, ceaseless, pointless warfare and every shall do."
  92.
  93. You say with a rough Meropian accent, "Warfare is often good for profiteering
  94. lots such as mine though."
  95.
  96. Abderus, a black-robed triton waves his hand dismissively.
  97.
  98. Abderus, a black-robed triton says, "No doubt, no doubt."
  99.
  100. Abderus, a black-robed triton says, "But what of..." and here Abderus pauses for
  101. an almost imperceptible roll of the eye "...the God-King Himself? Do you
  102. venerate the Lord Neraeos?"
  103.
  104. You say with a rough Meropian accent, "My views of the essence of the seas is
  105. limited. I trust in what I can hold and see. I pay homage to the sea prince so
  106. the tides may be in my favour, little more."
  107.
  108. Abderus, a black-robed triton nods his head emphatically.
  109.
  110. Abderus, a black-robed triton says, "A practical man."
  111.
  112. Abderus, a black-robed triton says, "In service, I trust I do not insult you by
  113. saying so, to himself and shirking the chains of service to any higher power?"
  114.
  115. Abderus, a black-robed triton says, "A reasonable summary?"
  116.
  117. You say with a rough Meropian accent, "To an extent aye. Though I've never seen

  119.
  120. You smirk.
  121.
  122. Abderus, a black-robed triton smiles a beatific smile.
  123.
  124. Abderus, a black-robed triton says, "And what if such a power wished for naught
  125. but the perfection of your ability to serve your own desires?"
  126.
  127. Abderus, a black-robed triton says, "Perhaps that would be another matter..."
  128.
  129. You say with a rough Meropian accent, "Then I would say we have common goals."
  130.
  131. Abderus, a black-robed triton says, "Hmm."
  132.
  133. Your eyes sparkle with amusement.
  134.
  135. Abderus, a black-robed triton says, "A more fruitful conversation than I had
  136. anticipated."
  137.
  138. Abderus, a black-robed triton says, "You have attracted the notice of such a
  139. power, Captain Blackheart. It is premature for Him to reveal Himself... but He
  140. whispers to me that in your heart, you are already His."
  141.
  142. You pause a moment to gather your thoughts.
  143.
  144. Abderus, a black-robed triton says, "We shall see the truth of that, I think... very soon."

  155.
  156. Zulah leans his weight heavily on a crystal-topped ebony cane.
  157.
  158. You ponder the situation.
  159.

  161.
  162. You say with a rough Meropian accent, "All stop."
  163.
  164. The crew of your ship is now ready to execute another order.
  165.
  166. -- Figurehead : 9540 -30 Cloak

  171. towards a Windcutter named "Soaring Star".

  189.
  190. The quarterdeck is the command centre of this small vessel. There is no bridge
  191. as such - just a wheel of highly polished brass and shining lacquered wood which
  192. stands forward and centre on the deck. The captain and his executive officer do
  193. their main work (along with the helmsman) from this place, however cramped it
  194. may be for more than those three. A heavy bait tank stands here, water sloshing
  195. from its sides. There are 10 shipmates here. Suspended by a long, thickly
  196. braided cable, a massive diving bell hangs here. Tail swishing agitatedly, a

  247. He's hooked a fish!
  248.
  249. Jerking his fishing line quickly, Kydin reels in a length of line.
  250.
