  1. Alright. The fifth session begins.
  2. Armand: aye
  3. Archer Pilkerdent: Let's do this
  4. Nobody Important (GM): Last session, the heroes A: perpetrated literal magic, B: started a communist revolution, and C: killed their first Villain, Smokin' Gun Pete.
  5. Archer Pilkerdent: And I went shopping
  6. We now have plenty of supplies
  7. and I have a poncho
  8. Nicholas Hill: We ended with a touching scene of Coyotes not getting killed as Nick let our monkey-bird-shaman heal her.
  9. Nobody Important (GM): Ah, yes. What a dastardly move, Pete.
  10. Llamas: And don't forget the pterodactyl taming.
  11. Nobody Important (GM): Right. The Pterodactyl is currently perched and kneeling in front of Llamas, listening to him explain different career choices.
  12. He seems to have his heart set on being a jazz musician like Armand.
  13. Archer Pilkerdent: The system works
  14. Armand: I offer to give him some pointers
  15. Nobody Important (GM): It doesn't speak Human, sadly.
  16. Armand: okay
  17. Llamas: I can translate though.
  18. Nicholas Hill: After ensuring that Coyotes is alright for longer than is probably necessary, Nick leaves her to rest for a bit and goes to find those damn workers.
  19. Nobody Important (GM): They're cheering and retrieving the wounded, trying to patch them up.
  20. They turn to you and you get a loud uproar of people trying to thank you.
  21. "What now, glorious leader?"
  22. Llamas: Whispering "There is the problem of the land's propriety".
  23. BORIS: "IH BOY HERE WE GO"
  24. Nicholas Hill: Nick's frown fades as the crowd starts cheering. "Well, I was planning on yelling at you for running away in the middle of our most important moment, but I guess I'm a sucker for attention." Nick makes a little bow. "I'll be giving you all the opportunity to work at actual fair prices, for a real cause, and live in beds that aren't glorified rocks."
  25. ((Roll to persuade to work for the Indians?))
  26. BORIS: "HUMANS ALWAYS GET STUPID ABOUT LAND. THEY'D BE BETTER OFF RAMMING THEIR HEADS TOGETHER AS IS BOARISH TRADITION."
  27. Nobody Important (GM): You can certainly try.

  41. Archer Pilkerdent: ((Nob, am I in this scene?))
  42. Armand: ((can I give it a shot, or is it just him?))
  43. Nicholas Hill: ((Lemme willpoint that.))
  44. Nobody Important (GM): "But glorious leader, what about our future commune? You can't expect us to work with those... 'people', most divine chairman!" one pipes up fron the back.

  57. Nobody Important (GM): ((You've stumbled on-scene Archer))
  58. BORIS: HOT DAMN
  59. Wait, you rolled an extra die
  60. Armand: ((do we still have the critical success rules?))
  61. Nobody Important (GM): "Well.... If you say so, glorious leader. When do we start?"
  62. Nicholas Hill: ((Oh shit, you're right. This is charm, not agility. Still, 30.))
  63. "You can start by - uh, gimme a sec." Nick speedwalks over to Coyotes.
  64. "What would you do if I told you you now had about 200 people willing to work these fields?"
  65. Nobody Important (GM): She's pulled herself to her feet and is currently chewing on some plant that Llamas has given her.
  66. BORIS: "WELL THAT WAS RESOLVED SURPRSINGLY PAINLESSLY."
  67. Archer Pilkerdent: "I say. I leave for a day and you've already bought the farm"
  68. "so to speak
  69. Nobody Important (GM): She gives you a look like a deer in front of an oncoming train. "Er. That... would be good? But where would we house them? Those houses are where our ancestral homes stood, and these fields should not be always growing tobacco. It's bad for the soil, you see."
  70. BORIS: "OHP, SPOKE TOO SOON.""
  71. Nicholas Hill: "Right, I was thinking we get them to tear down all the tobacco plants and the houses, plant some actual seeds, rebuild your housing, and then live somewhere else while they farmed all this."
  72. Nobody Important (GM): Her eyes narrow briefly. "How are you going to get them to do this? Where will they live?"
  73. Nicholas Hill: Nick flashes a smile. "Eh, I'll figure it out."
  74. Nick walks back over to the workers.
  75. BORIS: "THAT MIGHT WORK, I SAW CHINESE FARMERS PULL IT OFF."
  76. Llamas: "If you allow, I also minored in agricoltural sciences at Yzmopolis Uni. i'm sure we can work out a satisfactory crop rotation system."
  77. Nobody Important (GM): They've massed up in a disorganized mob and they wait for your speech.
  78. Nicholas Hill: "Alright, I've figured out exactly what you're going to do. First, we tear down all these tobacco plants and start planting real crops, like, uh." Nick leans in to Llamas and whispers "What's a real crop that people grow?"
  79. "Barley!"
  80. BORIS: "FIELD WAS RICE ONE YEAR, SOMETHING ELSE NEXT YEAR. WHY? BORIS DOES NOT KNOW"
  81. Armand: "Who's got that kinda buying power this far West?"
  82. BORIS: "POTATOES."
  83. Nicholas Hill: "And potatoes!"
  84. Llamas: "While edible crops are important, Tobacco is extremely profitable and might significantly help your tribe get wealth and leverage."
  85. "Barley or maize.
  86. Nobody Important (GM): ((Llamas, you're pretty sure potatoes and barley is doable, but maize and rice would be hard due to their water requirements.))
  87. Armand: ((Yeah, rice paddies and deserts don't really mix well))
  88. Nobody Important (GM): "I... um. Alright. So, where do we get the seeds? Should we finish harvesting this load before we, you know, pull this all up? Um." One of them speaks up, his leg being bandaged by another. "Can I go home now, dear leader?"
  89. Nicholas Hill: "Alright, that sound good? Yep, 'course it does. After we do that, we have to tear down the old houses, they represent the cruel oppressions you faced at the hands of the guards. We can rebuild a real town slightly farther out, and you can make you apologies to me for running away by rebuilding the ancient indian whatsamacallits that used to be here."
  90. Nobody Important (GM): "Well, there's the pumps behind the barn."
  91. Llamas: "of course we're gonna need to do some irrigation works."
  92. Nicholas Hill: "Seeds will come, it'll be fine. They should be all around here. I've got friends who undoubtedly have some too."
  93. Llamas: "Any of you know of a water spring nearby?"
  94. BORIS: "NICK, YOU ARE DOING IT AGAIN."
  95. Nicholas Hill: "And as for you, get that leg stitched up, you're going to be building your new and better home!"
  96. BORIS: "WHY YOUR MOUTH ALWAYS GET US INTO TROUBLE?"
  97. Armand: "I know some people back in New Orleans who can get you just about anything you need, for a price"
  98. Nobody Important (GM): Test me Persuasion, nick.
  99. Nicholas Hill: Nick turns back to Borris and gives a shrug.

  109. Nobody Important (GM): Well then.
  110. BORIS: HOT BLAZING DAMN
  111. NICK'S ON FIRE
  112. Nobody Important (GM): The workers, filled with glorious, patriotic and marxist spirit, form up and begin harvesting and retrieving tools from the barn to deconstruct the buildings.
  113. Archer Pilkerdent: "I see Mr. Hill is finally settling down and going into the farming business"
  114. Nicholas Hill: ((EMPOWERED BY MY TEARS FOR THE INDIANS))
  115. Nobody Important (GM): Strains of glorious soviet music play in the distance.
  116. Archer Pilkerdent: "Good for him, the fresh air should do him some good"
  117. Nicholas Hill: Nick gives a chuckle at Archer. "You're joking, right? We're moving on the second the Indians take over management of this. We can have a precession or something to name the Apache Chief the next glorious leader."
  118. Archer Pilkerdent: "Oh, I see"
  119. "(Damn)"
  120. Llamas: "Well done, ma boy. You've made a great service both to the Apache and these people."
  121. Armand: I start playing some of the aforementioned glorious music
  122. Nobody Important (GM): Are you guys going to help with the disassembly? Who's going to go tell the Apache?
  123. BORIS: "BORIS REMOVE BUILDINGS."
  124. Nobody Important (GM): I'm sure that Runs-With-Coyotes would like to present this to her tribe, but someone else to represent you lot should probably go with her.
  125. Armand: I'll go with
  126. Archer Pilkerdent: So shall I
  127. I would rather not give nick the opportunity to cock it up in some way
  128. Nicholas Hill: Probably a bad idea to let Archer go.
  129. Or me.
  130. Since we're both, y'know, the guys that genocided them.
  131. Llamas: i'm also sending the dino with them.
  132. Nicholas Hill: Wait a second. So who's going to be our runner again?
  133. Llamas: Show them it was just a simple beast and tell him to ask the indian for his starting job.
  134. Armand: I can see it now: a crop-dusting jazz dinosaur
  135. Archer Pilkerdent: I suppose It'll be aramand
  136. Nobody Important (GM): Crop dusting jazz dionsaur.
  137. Archer Pilkerdent: Armand
  138. Nobody Important (GM): Jesus.
  139. Alright, Armand and Runs-With-Coyotes are going to go get the Apache. Assuming nothing bad happens they should be here by morning.
  140. Llamas: If two people are already going i'll probably stay here and oversee the building/demolishing operations with my huge brain.
  141. BORIS: "AND NOW WE BEGIN GLORIOUS RITUAL OF REMOVING."
  142. Archer Pilkerdent: that's a very bad assumption
  143. Nobody Important (GM): Llamas is helping the workers take down the buildings along with Boris, who has been carrying enormous bales of tobacco to the loading dock.
  144. Nicholas Hill: Nick grumbles about not being sent and about how Coyotes could be unprotected for a solid four hours.
  145. Nobody Important (GM): Archer and Nick are... doing something important, surely.
  146. Archer Pilkerdent: I'm supervising
  147. Nicholas Hill: I'm 'supervising'.
  148. Nobody Important (GM): Test me Travel+sensibility, Armand.

  162. Nobody Important (GM): Alright then. Here we go.
  163. Armand: ((can't runs cover it though?)
  164. Nicholas Hill: Runs is hgiher.

  178. I don't think you could even make TN25.
  179. BORIS: well, on an 18
  180. Sarge: all 6's he could
  181. Nobody Important (GM): About halfway there Runs drags you and your horse off the beaten path to hide in a bush.
  182. You wait there, nerves twanging while eight men in nice suits and coats with fine equipment ride past you, rifles on shoulders and scanning the horizon.
  183. Rough Riders. And they're looking for something.
  184. Eventually they are gone and you and Runs-With-Coyotes depart, significantly more spooked than you were prior.
  185. You retrieve the Apache, and after a few hours of glorious celebration they come with you, slightly more drunk for the wear.
  186. At least there's nearly forty of you, so even the Riders should have a hard time taking you on.
  187. Nobody Important (GM): By the time you have returned to the farm it is ten in the morning, and all the buildings but the loading dock have been deconstructed and loaded up onto wagons.
  188. They lack horses, though.
  189. Archer Pilkerdent: "I knew I should have brought them back with me"
  190. BORIS: "BORIS STRONK, WHO NEEDS FAT HORSES."
  191. Nobody Important (GM): Dances-With-The-Spirits has a wide smile on his face upon seeing his ancestral lands returned to him and he welcomes Nicholas, Boris, and Llamas with open arms.
  192. Nicholas Hill: Nick smiles back, just as wide. "I told you I could take them on!"
  193. Llamas: "As we promised chief".
  194. Nobody Important (GM): "Ah, it does me good to see these lands again! I don't know how you did it, but we all thank you from the bottom of our hearts! Ask what you will and if it is in our power, it shall be yours!"
  195. Armand: "I move that we have a feast to celebrate this triumph of the worker"
  196. BORIS: "FREE TRIP TO VEGAS? I UNDERSTAND THERE IS SOMEONE THERE THAT NEEDS REMOVING."
  197. Archer Pilkerdent: "I still have yet to find the complaints department in this country. I would request that you direct us to it"
  198. Armand: "Regardless of what we ask for, that is"
  199. "I understand a big fellow like that could do wonders for planting fields"
  200. Llamas: "Restoring a little balance to this troubled land is a reward in itself. A little supplies for our next travels will be enough. Also, i have a new friend in a desperate need for a job."
  201. Nobody Important (GM): The Apache pan their heads to the left and all at once drop to the ground when they see the Pterodactyl. "A monster!"
  202. Armand: Don't worry, he's a decent fella
  203. Nobody Important (GM): Terry -- for that is the Pterodactyl's name -- looks a bit shocked at their fear. "W-well, I'm sorry! Don't be scared!"
  204. Unfortunately, this is all in Lizard so it sounds like more screeching.
  205. Archer Pilkerdent: "Reminds me of the gwythaints back home"
  206. "They would deliver the post"
  207. Llamas: "NONONO calm down! Our new friend has fully reformed and can't wait to help the tribe."
  208. Nicholas Hill: "I've also got about 200 workers in the process of building themselves a nearby town and helping to work your fields."
  209. Nick looks in the other direction. "I mean, Y'know. If that matters."
  210. BORIS: "NICK, NOW IS TIME TO MAKE MOVES ON THE LADYFRIEND."
  211. "SUBTLE MOVES, THOUGH."
  212. Nicholas Hill: Nick jabs Boris in the side with his elbow.
  213. "Ahahahaha, haha, go ahead and ignore my large, furry, and more than a little stupid friend."
  214. Nobody Important (GM): Runs-With-Coyotes gives Boris an odd look but before she can say something Dances-With-The-Spirits cuts her off. "Workers? When can we meet with them? How shall we pay them? We have none of your monies for them."
  215. Nicholas Hill: "They'll be setting up their whole own town. With all the extra food they'll be making, especially with monkeyman here's crop-whatever, you can have a feast everyday, enough stored for the harshest winters, and still have enough left over for the town to trade off the surplus at a profit."
  216. Nick beams with pride at his ingenuity.
  217. Llamas: "Yes, we believe the profit margin from the Tobacco fields will be enough to support the town."
  218. Nobody Important (GM): "Really, we cannot thank you enough." He bows his head for a moment. "Small monkey-creature, I apologize but I have forgotten your name. You have a crop rotation for us? And you, boar; You wish to know the way to Vegas? We can tell you."
  219. BORIS: "ALSO, BORIS NEEDS TO LEARN RULES OF LOCAL GAMBLING GAMES TO CLEAN UP AT THE TABLES."
  220. Armand: "I, well, may be able to help you there"
  221. BORIS: "ALSO NEED LOADED DICE."
  222. Armand: "there too
  223. "
  224. BORIS: "STACKED DECKS."
  225. "THE WORKS."
  226. Llamas: "Dances with Llamas and yes, with some workers to help me take measurement and some time to crunch the numbers I'm positive i can find a way to balance edible crops and sellables".
  227. BORIS: "THESE GUYS DON'T LIKE GUYS WHO DESERVE TO BE PLAYED FAIR."
  228. Nobody Important (GM): The indians sort of shuffle their feet awkwardly before Sings-To-Snakes shuffles through his meager possessions and tosses a small burlap bag to you.
  229. BORIS: "SWEET."
  230. Archer Pilkerdent: "My good Mr. Spirits, Is the journey to Vegas particularly dangerous?"
  231. Nobody Important (GM): There's a book in here labelled "How to cheat at cards and other dastardly plots. Also, some dice and Bicycle brand cards.
  232. Armand: I pull BORIS aside. "Well, the first thing you need to know is how to read the dealer. Some dealers are quick, some are slow, some are practically falling asleep at the table..."
  233. BORIS: (okay, so who that ledgermain skil?)
  234. Archer Pilkerdent: "I think it may be prudent to avoid the worst of the danger"
  235. Nobody Important (GM): "Well, The Slim has his men always watching the roads to Vegas to make sure that the only ones that come to him come for business or money. He does not allow good people into Vegas. The road will be watched by his most dangerous goons; the Rough Riders."
  236. "As for a complaints department, I'm afraid his is merely a cover for a prison.
  237. I'd recommend setting up your own when you remove him from power."
  238. Archer Pilkerdent: "Do your fellows know of any back roads or suchlike?"
  239. "Ah, just like home then."
  240. Armand: "or any roads, like, at all?"
  241. Nicholas Hill: Nick's quietly wandered off to go do something or other by this point.
  242. Nobody Important (GM): "There is a way... A dangerous pass, out through California and back through the mountains you could avoid most, if not all, of his patrols.
  243. Or one could take the Golden Road to Vegas and brave the patrols as they stand -- it is much quicker and less cold, to be sure."
  244. Archer Pilkerdent: "Well, chaps, there you have it."
  245. Armand: "let's do that one. I like that one"
  246. Archer Pilkerdent: "Shall we take the scenic route?"
  247. Armand: "what are the patrols like?"
  248. Nobody Important (GM): "Eight men, with rifles and horses. They will not let you close, but nor will they let you rest. Moreover, they can call for help via some foul Atlantean magic and have powerful weapons the likes of which we can only dream."
  249. There are many of their patrols this time of year."
  250. Archer Pilkerdent: "That sounds unpleasant"
  251. Armand: "Who would the let through?"
  252. Archer Pilkerdent: "And I don't like the sound of that magic at all"
  253. "Can't stand the stuff"
  254. Nobody Important (GM): "Unarmed gamblers, cattle rustlers, and those bringing tribute to Slim."
  255. "Or a messenger to Slim, yes."
  256. Llamas: "Someone loaded with money to spend. or who can prove he has official business with their master."
  257. "i presume."
  258. Armand: "We could pass as gamblers"
  259. "Hide all the weapons"
  260. Archer Pilkerdent: "Well, if our choices are a nice trek through the hills, or going down a road filled with damn wizards, I for one will choose the former"
  261. Armand: "Fine"
  262. Llamas: "I too vote for the sneakier wilderness route."
  263. Armand: I walk off to consult Nick, grumbling about the cold
  264. Llamas: "Should get the other's opinions though."
  265. Nicholas Hill: Nick's poking at a bush with one of his swords.
  266. Armand: "I think you killed it"
  267. Archer Pilkerdent: "I say, Mr. Spirit, you would not happen to have a map of this backroad do you?"
  268. Nicholas Hill: Nick stops to look at Armand. "Hmmm?"
  269. Armand: We
  270. Archer Pilkerdent: "It's would be very handy"
  271. Llamas: Then i'll go look for Boris.
  272. Armand: We're moving out to Vegas, and I wanted to get your opinion on how we got there
  273. Nobody Important (GM): He rummages through his rucksack and pulls out a roll of what appears to be... leather?
  274. Regardless, a map has been lovingly stitched into it and he hands it to you.
  275. Archer Pilkerdent: "Ah, very good"
  276. I begin to study the map and make plans for our journey
  277. Armand: We could go through the horrible icy cold sneaky passages, or the nice, warm road that has a couple of patrolmen on it
  278. BORIS: "BORIS IS GAME FOR CALIFORNIA"
  279. Armand: Anyways, do you want to brave the cold, or does pretending to be a gambler work for you?
  280. Nicholas Hill: "Whichever one gets us there faster. Traveling sucks. And Coyotes always make me get the firewood."
  281. Armand: "You could say that, Llamas"
  282. Nobody Important (GM): ((Keep in mind that will put you into Santa's territory. There'll be patrols in California, they just won't be looking for you in particular.))
  283. Llamas: "So, you vote for the most direct road?"
  284. Archer Pilkerdent: (Less wizard, less worry)
  285. Nicholas Hill: "For that matter, Coyotes makes me do just about everything when we travel. The quicker we get to somewhere with less grunt work to do, the better."
  286. Nobody Important (GM): ((You know, it may be that he's just talking about like... walkie-talkies or something. Atlanteans aren't known for their magic as much as advanced technology.))
  287. Archer Pilkerdent: (I'm not sure Archer would know that)
  288. Nobody Important (GM): ((True. I'm just giving you a heads up.))
  289. Llamas: "So I, Archer and Boris vote for the long route, while Armand and Nick for the short one".
  290. 3-2
  291. Nicholas Hill: Nick groans. "You've got to be kidding me. Can we at least get Boris to help me out?"
  292. Armand: "He's probably going o be gambling the whole time."
  293. "I'll give you a hand, though"
  294. Nobody Important (GM): Are you guys going to ask Runs her opinion?
  295. BORIS: "OH COME ON, IS NOT EVEN HEAVY STICKS, YOU LITTLE WUSSY."
  296. Armand: Sure
  297. Llamas: "But if Coyote's coming with us we should get her opinion too."
  298. Yes.
  299. BORIS: "NICK, LOOK AT HER WITH PLEADING PUPPY EYES WHEN WE ASK HER."
  300. Nobody Important (GM): She thinks for a moment in between helping people unpack their tents. "Well, there's something to be said for both, isn't there? California is a bad place too, ruled by harsh and cruel people but if we stick to the mountains we should be okay. On the other hand, we could avoid soldiers and chill by taking the road, but they'll be expecting us soon and we're going to need more supplies anyway."
  301. "I'm going to have to say... I think the road will be safer.
  302. I'm sure we could disguise ourselves as something innocouous."
  303. Armand: All tied up
  304. 3-3
  305. BORIS: "OH GREAT, WE ARE AT IMPASSE, WE MUST FLIP COIN NOW."
  306. Armand: "Okay
  307. "
  308. I pull out a coin
  309. BORIS: "HEADS."
  310. Armand: ((heads is 1, tails is 2))
  311. Nicholas Hill: "Middle!"
  312. Llamas: "We need a tie-breaker then.
  313. Armand: rolling 1d2

  318. BORIS: "MIDDLE? MIDDLE!? WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU NICK? i KNOW YOU DUMB AS SACK OF POTATOES, BUT COME ON!"
  319. Armand: Tails
  320. Nobody Important (GM): "Well, I think that's a vote from the coin for the roads, isn't it?"
  321. Nicholas Hill: "If it landed on the middle it would have been really cool."
  322. Armand: "You called heads, we get tails"
  323. "Ignore that one's call, please"
  324. Llamas: "Well, technically there is a minuscle chance the coin will be stuck on its rim..."
  325. Archer Pilkerdent: "The road! Well, don't say I didn't warn you all! You won't think this is a good idea when we're all toads and you're up to your neck in boiling cooking lard!"
  326. Armand: "Mmm... lard"
  327. Archer Pilkerdent: "This will all end in tears, I just know it..."
  328. Nicholas Hill: "So, what, this means we're going the short way? Great! No work for me, Princess!"
  329. BORIS: "I WONDER WHAT IS LIKE TO BE TOAD."
  330. Nobody Important (GM): "Everything ends in tears."
  331. Armand: "less, not no"
  332. BORIS: "SO WARTY AND GOOD AT JUMPING."
  333. Archer Pilkerdent: "Yes, therein lies the problem!"
  334. Nobody Important (GM): There is a moment of ponderous silence while everyone considers the fundamental nature of toadhood.
  335. Armand: "I knew I guy like that once. Wonder how he's doing?"
  336. BORIS: "AND THE TONGUE...."
  337. "THE TONGUE MUST BE INDESCRIBABLE."
  338. Armand: "Do toads get the tongue thing, or is that just frogs?"
  339. Archer Pilkerdent: "Never mind about the toads!"
  340. Llamas: "I've actually talked with some toads, you know. A diet of small insects and smaller cousins makes you extremely grumpy."
  341. Archer Pilkerdent: "We'll be... newts or something"
  342. "But we won't get better!"
  343. Armand: "What's a newt?"
  344. BORIS: "THE SLIPPERY LIZARDS? EEEWWWW."
  345. Nicholas Hill: "Alright, that's long enough. Let's get moving." Nick starts off the plantation. "Oh, by the way, you're the new leader of these guys, Coyote's Dad. Let's get moving!"\
  346. Armand: "Can't we celebrate a bit first?"
  347. Nicholas Hill: Nick shouts back a "Celebrate on the road!"
  348. Armand: "Just a feast with all the people here"
  349. Nobody Important (GM): "Eager to get moving, aren't we?"
  350. Llamas: "They get it too, but it's shorter."
  351. Nobody Important (GM): Runs-With-Coyotes whistles for the horses, who come trotting majestically through the fields.
  352. BORIS: "YEAH, MIGHT AS WELL ENJOY OURSELVES AS WE PLUNGE INTO NEAR-CERTAIN DOOM."
  353. Armand: "There'll be music, and food, and dancing, and music..."
  354. BORIS: "NICK CAN'T STAY STILL."
  355. Nobody Important (GM): The image is somewhat ruined by her struggling to actually get onto the horse with her bandaged torso.
  356. Such is life.
  357. Archer Pilkerdent: "Will there be tea?"
  358. Armand: "That's what dancing is for"
  359. "Archer, there will"
  360. BORIS: "NICK, NOW IS TIME TO MAKE MOVE."
  361. "GOGOGOGOGOGOGOGOGO"
  362. Nicholas Hill: Nick makes a valiant effort to assist Coyotes onto her horse.
  363. Llamas: I hastily scribble some instructions for the indians about the plantation as I shamble to the horses.
  364. Armand: "Come on, Nick. I'd think you of all people would appreciate a party!"
  365. Nicholas Hill: He clambers onto the back of it once he's done so. "Please ride fast, Princess. I think Armand's going to blow out my eardrums."
  366. Nobody Important (GM): Okay, so let's recap here.
  367. You guys are going to take the Golden Road, a highway developed by Slim, to Las Vegas. You're gonna need some supplies. You can get them from the nearby town who you just thrust the local bandits upon or you can... just try to forage for them in the scrublands?
  368. I mean, Wildrock is probably pretty happy to see you guys but still
  369. There's now like 30 dudes in the jail meant to hold ten, tops.
  370. BORIS: shit's crowded
  371. Archer Pilkerdent: I actually was buyin gsupplies while I was delivering the bandits
  372. and a stylish poncho
  373. Armand: We may actually want to check to see how the town's doing
  374. Nicholas Hill: Yeah, we should have supplies from Archer and forging.
  375. We'll be fine.
  376. Llamas: Between me and Boris foraging will be absolutely no problem
  377. Armand: rather than just murderhoboing away
  378. Nicholas Hill: Armand should talk to them and get them to work for the town.
  379. Or something.
  380. BORIS: it's not murderhoboing if you let them live!
  381. Nobody Important (GM): Well, okay, fair enough.
  382. Armand: Fine, assultandbatteryhoboing
  383. Nobody Important (GM): Arresthoboing
  384. So like
  385. freelance cops.
  386. That nobody asked for.
  387. Armand: Vigilantes, really
  388. Llamas: Could be the start of a beautiful commercial partnership between towns.
  389. Archer Pilkerdent: I'm sure the railroad will need a new connection to the town
  390. Llamas: And if we can't just straight up reform them they can still work as convicts.
  391. Nobody Important (GM): I think the railroad still goes there, it's just that it's like, robbed every half hour.
  392. Nicholas Hill: Yeah, let's make a stop by the town, sic Armand on the criminals, and let them know to partner up with the new town sprining up nearby.
  393. Archer Pilkerdent: Alright, I think we have our itinerary
  394. go to the town and check up on it, then take the wizard road to vegas
  395. Nobody Important (GM): Wildrock is...
  396. Llamas: Finally we'll have the chance to take out some bad juju.
  397. Nobody Important (GM): A bit more empty than you remember it being, but people are still in the streets.
  398. There's a bunch of the bandits sitting under a covered roof, sweating and chained together but outside the jail.
  399. Obviously they can't afford to keep everyone inside the three ten by ten blocks.
  400. Archer Pilkerdent: Have they tried a plunger?
  401. We should find Sam, and see where all the people have gone
  402. BORIS: "OH MY SIDES"
  403. Llamas: Gonna do a flying recon.
  404. Nobody Important (GM): People are generally going about their buisness.
  405. Armand: I go over and talk to the convicts
  406. Nobody Important (GM): Sam is outside the jail at a desk he appears to have set up in fifteen minutes or while extremely rushed.
  407. Llamas: Just a broad circle to see what the general situation is.
  408. Nobody Important (GM): He's going through a pile of paperwork, straining his old man eyes even through his reading glasses.
  409. Armand: "what are you here for?"
  410. Archer Pilkerdent: "How's the paperwork, coming old chap?"
  411. Nobody Important (GM): His gun that still doesn't have the right size cartridges is on one side of the table, acting as a paperweight.
  412. Armand, the bandits look up at you. "You arrested us. For banditry."
  413. Armand: ((Armand wasn't there for that))
  414. Nobody Important (GM): Sam lifts his head and nearly starts at Archer's stealthy approach. "Oh, you know, sonny. It goes, it goes. How can I help you?"
  415. Armand: "Did I, now? It happens"
  416. Nobody Important (GM): ((You were here for that, I thought? It was when Nick nearly got everyone killed, wasn't it?))
  417. Nicholas Hill: ((Yes.))
  418. Nobody Important (GM): ((You tried to sneak in and remove Peyote Pete.))
  419. Armand: ((which time?))
  420. Archer Pilkerdent: "Just checking in to make sure everything's spiffy"
  421. Sarge: ((He was sir bearington during that))
  422. BORIS: ((no, he was armand
  423. Archer Pilkerdent: "No problems since I was last here then?"
  424. Llamas: (I think these are from Peyote Pete's camp.)
  425. Armand: ((Oh, these are the other guys, not the original thugs))
  426. ((I thought these were the thugs from the saloon))
  427. BORIS: "WHERE DID PEOPLE GO? I THOUGHT THEY'D FEEL SAFER WITH BANDITS ARRESTED."
  428. Armand: ((too many thugs to keep track of))
  429. Sarge: ((Sorry, I was thinking of the riginal thugs.))
  430. Nobody Important (GM): "Well, other than some goons asking after you, no. I told em' you went out east again and shooed them off. These men were lawfully arrested, and they will serve their sentences."
  431. Llamas: (No Bearington was just in the first session, by the second he already had Armand).
  432. Armand: "What do you plan on doing when you finally get out?"
  433. Archer Pilkerdent: "Very good. These goons. They didn't happen to be wearing pointed hats, were they?"
  434. "No... stars or moons?"
  435. Nobody Important (GM): "N.... no?"
  436. Archer Pilkerdent: "I see."
  437. Nobody Important (GM): "They were in... decently nice suits."
  438. "With rifles. Big ones. Careful 'bout your environs, because something tells me they aren't out to bring you back alive as much as bring back a souvenir."
  439. "Yeah, they were Rough Riders, if you know the local stuff."
  440. Llamas: "What my friend is trying to say is: were they riderss? Did they look associated with this Slim fellow?"
  441. Archer Pilkerdent: "Oh, dragoons out for blood"
  442. "Well that's a relief"
  443. "Here I thought they may be"
  444. I lean in close and whisper conspiratorially
  445. "Wizards"
  446. Nobody Important (GM): Sam's impressive moustache bristles. "Scary they may be. Dragoons they may be, but wizards we are not! Wizardin' ain't in the west's blood, and you'd do best not to bring up the subject of wizards to honorable citizens!" He leans back. "Unless you know where some wizards are hiding, eh?"
  447. BORIS: "REMOVE WIZARDS!"
  448. "MARTIALS STRONK."
  449. Archer Pilkerdent: "No, sir. No wizards that I have seen."
  450. Armand: "Okay, so see here. We aren't the only random do-gooders who will come through and put a stop to any nonsense you may put up. We are, however, notable for not just putting a bullet or two in your heads and being done with it."
  451. Llamas: I start sweating lightly and whistling.
  452. Armand: "We're just friendly like that"
  453. Llamas: nervous whistling.
  454. Archer Pilkerdent: "Oh, I did want to mention that the tobbaco plantation with the gwythaint has new management under the indian fellow named Mr. Spirits"
  455. "I believe that he is willing to trade and have good relations with you, if you are interested"
  456. Armand: "You see, you can make a much nicer living working a field than as a thug, and a much longer one, too"
  457. Nobody Important (GM): "Oh, the Apache, huh? You run them off onto their farms or what? I didn't know there was extra farmland 'round here."
  458. Llamas: "The Pterodactyl, he means. He's friendly with the indians now by the way."
  459. "Yes, something like that."
  460. Nobody Important (GM): "They doin' okay? I heard Slim's boys burned their last farm a couple months ago."
  461. Armand: "You see, I've actually learned recently of a new farming town springing up to the South of here where they'll pay any man a fair wage and don't ask too many questions"
  462. Nobody Important (GM): "I may not like them much -- whatever else they were, they were bandits before Slim showed up -- but burning a man's farm is just cruel."
  463. Armand: "If I were to negotiate your release, would you be interested in living well as a free man for all your natural-born days?"
  464. Archer Pilkerdent: "Oh, I don't know. A regular burning is to be expected. The taxmen find it easier to dig up skeletons in the ash."
  465. Llamas: "Very well in fact. As Mr. Pikerdent was saying they have now reappropriated a tobacco plantation and are partially reconverting it into farmlands, The laborers have also set up a town of their own nearby. We think they will be interested in trading with you."
  466. Nobody Important (GM): Armand, the men look up at you. "Anything's gotta be better than jail, sir. Whatever you want."
  467. Armand: "It's a helluva lot better than living out in the sand and the dust shooting folks just to get by. The choice is yours, mes amies, but it's pretty much now or never. What do you say?"
  468. Nobody Important (GM): "Oh, they're interested in trading now, are they? Well, we'll trade with them if they got anything worth trading. Where're they located now?"
  469. Nah, general directions should work.
  470. Well, if you want I'd ask you to make Academics+Intelligence against TN10
  471. Llamas: Do we need to roll to sketch up a map from memory?
  472. Armand: "I'll go sort some things out, and you can walk out of here a free man today. Just remember, if you decide to turn back and start shootin' folk and stabbing folk, people like us will come around, and they won't be half as friendly"
  473. Llamas: rolling 4d6k3+16

  484. Armand: I go into the jailhouse, and wait for an opening in conversation
  485. Nobody Important (GM): Sam picks up the detailed and annotated map you've made. "Thanks, doctor. You are a doctor, right? Anyway, I'll send a posse round to see what they want for what they got."
  486. Llamas: "More or less... here. They have some leftover tobacco from the last harvest and will soon begin working the land full-time."
  487. Armand: "Now, mister, I noticed you got something of a problem with all the fellas outside"
  488. Nobody Important (GM): "Yeah? They're criminals.
  489. Armand: "You, my friend, are obviously ill-equipped to handle the sheer number of convicts we have given you"
  490. Llamas: "Please, no need for formalities,I am just Dances with Llamas now."
  491. Armand: "Now, being a reasonable man who tries his hardest to clean up any and all messes that he may have started, I can help you with this"
  492. Nobody Important (GM): Sam's looking at you suspiciously. "The boys didn't put you up to this, did they? They did the crime, they do the time."
  493. Armand: "The new Apache settlement to the East will do quite nicely as a work-release sort of a system, teaching them good hard-working values, and taking the load off of the small town here."
  494. "And no, they didn't. You and I both know what happens when you have a prison with 30 inmates and one guard. They're going to riot, get violent, break free, loot the town, and then where will you be?"
  495. "Worse off than before, that's where."
  496. Nobody Important (GM): "Well, son, presumably I'd be dead."
  497. Roll me Persuasion.

  509. Nobody Important (GM): Well then.
  510. Armand: ((Did I... did I do good?))
  511. Nobody Important (GM): "But still, you have a point. When the posse goes round I'll see about hiring them out as chain gangs -- a dollar an hour seems like a fair wage for criminals like them, and the farm'll get something out of it."
  512. Armand: "The Apache can handle them, and you'll get good money for it"
  513. "The problem with that, though, is your jail. It isn't meant for 30 men. How have they been sleeping, anyway?
  514. Nobody Important (GM): "Poorly. Surely you got business to attend to, son?"
  515. Armand: "I can go all day"
  516. "Just make them the injuns' problem"
  517. Nobody Important (GM): Anyway, what's the rest of the crew up to?
  518. The golden road to Vegas is not but fifteen miles out from here.
  519. Nicholas Hill: Nick's not doing anything important. Probably just riding around with Coyotes or something.
  520. Nobody Important (GM): You've got your supplies
  521. You've got your stuff together
  522. You've concluded the business
  523. Perhaps you should make for the road?
  524. Armand: Let's do so
  525. Nicholas Hill: If everyone's ready, let's go/
  526. Llamas: Preparing for the voyage. After playing cartographer i'm preparing some supplies, mostly antiseptic and painkillers, but maybe a flash powder bomb or ywo would be handy.
  527. Nobody Important (GM): Alright then. All aboard your horses, we're heading for the west!
  528. Armand: I just leave, hoping that my wild promises to the bandits don't go totally unfulfilled or get everyone killed
  529. Nobody Important (GM): Well, more west.
  530. Everyone is going to die and it'll be all your fault.
  531. Armand: ((oops))
  532. Archer Pilkerdent: As we travel, I sew some dangling corks into my hat
  533. for the flies
  534. BORIS: "IS TIME TO GIVE ROAD HEAVY BEATING."
  535. "THAT IS HOW SAYING GOES, YES?"
  536. Nobody Important (GM): Anyway, sadly that's where we're gonna have to call it tonight as I have to be up earlier than usual tomorrow.
  537. Armand: "Yep
  538. "
  539. BORIS: "WE BEAT ROAD LIKE RED HEADED STEPCHILD."
  540. Armand: "Kind of"
  541. Nobody Important (GM): Hopefully you guys had fun today, but we didn't actually make it to the one seriously threatening scene.
  542. Archer Pilkerdent: Right, sounds good.
  543. Armand: Okay, good game everyone
  544. Archer Pilkerdent: It's all good m8, loose ends all tied up
  545. Llamas: "Eh, close enough."
  546. Archer Pilkerdent: some new ones freshly frayed
  547. Nicholas Hill: Alrighty. Nice social session. Loose ends are good here, moving on to the next town.
  548. Armand: there was no combat in that whole thing, was there?
  549. Nobody Important (GM): Nope.
  550. Archer Pilkerdent: Nope, not a one
  551. Nobody Important (GM): Well, you would have stumbled into it but Runs saved you.
  552. So there's that.
  553. Armand: ooh, me and Runs vs. 4 Rough Riders
  554. Nobody Important (GM): Anyway, 2 Lessons for everyone one more for Armand, Nick, and Llamas.
  555. Good night, all.
