  1. /mhg/ Prowler Guide
  2.
  3. INHERENT MOVES AND SKILLS
  4.
  5. First off, the inherent Moves and Skills on a perfect cat are as follow, you want to scout/beg for a cat that has ALL of them.
  6.
  7. Moves: Piercing Boomerangs and Big Boomerangs (note that Mega Boomerang is a different skill and is garbage, so don't bother)
  8.
  9. Skills: Boomerang Pro; Critical Up (S); Earplugs OR Critical Up (L)
  10.
  11. About Earplugs and CuL, you don't have enough slots for both so it's an either/or situation. Personally I like Earplugs better because it's just more versatile and add another layer of defense. Also, cat Earplugs is actually HGE and negate all roars.
  12.
  13.
  14. -------
  15. SUPPORT BIAS
  16. Next, cats have base stats that scale with level
  17. Here's the Stat table for max leveled cats, from >reddit
  18.
  19. Base Stats (at lv 50)
  20. Support Bias Health Melee Ranged Defense
  21. Fighting 140 120 120 145
  22. Gathering 140 90 90 130
  23. Charisma 140 100 100 145
  24. Protection 140 100 100 188
  25. Assisting 140 90 90 145
  26. Healing 140 90 90 174
  27. Bombing 140 110 110 145
  28.
  29. Only Fighting and Gathering cats can have both Boomerang moves, and Fighting has higher attack, so don't bother with anything else, go Fighting.
  30.
  31. -------
  32.
  33. LEARNED MOVE AND SKILL
  34.
  35. Cat can learn one Move and one Skill from other cats, and the optimal Move to learn is Emergency Retreat which will get you out of trouble, heal you for a Potion's worth and cure all status effects.
  36.
  37. Your Move loadout should be Pierce rang, Big rang, Emergency Retreat and whatever else you can fit in
  38.
  39. As for Skill, the best skill - bar none - to teach to your cat is World's Strongest, which is a DLC skill that will be released in the future.
  40.
  41. It increases the base attack of your cat by 1.5x and base defense by 2x while your cat's naked.
  42.
  43. Meaning an extra 60 attack and 145 defense for a level 50 Fighting cat.
  44.
  45. There's an inferior skill called Last Stand which you can use while waiting for World's Strongest
  46.
  47. It gives your cat an extra 40 attack and defense while taking away your acorns.
  48.
  49. Last Stand also costs 3 slots while WS costs 2
  50.
  51. So overall, WS is cheaper, give you more attack and let you keep your acorns in exchange for lower defense.
  52. The lower defense is not that much of an issue because the max defense for a level 50 cat with WS is 290, which is equal to some endgame Gunner sets and you're playing a ranged weapon anyway.
  53.
  54. Cats have a maximum of 6 slots at level 40 and above, and those 6 should be filled with the following
  55.
  56. Boomerang Pro (1)
  57. Critical Up S (1)
  58. Earplugs OR Critical Up L (2)
  59. World's Strongest (2)
  60.
  61. If you don't have World's Strongest then take out CuS and fit in Last Stand instead.
  62.
  63. ------
  64. WEAPONS
  65.
  66. Pierce Boomerang hits for 3 hits, which applies 1.5x element for the first hit and 0.5x for the second two.
  67.
  68. Meaning each pierce rang you throw will apply 2.5x the element value on your weapon, making cat one of the best element and status dealers in the game.
  69.
  70. Below are the best weapons for each element.
  71.
  72. *Fire: Dreadking Sword S OR Hyper Agnaktor Sword
  73. *Ice: Snowbaron Stick S
  74. Water: Amatsu Sword
  75. Thunder: Hyper Lagiacrus Anchor
  76. Dragon: Shagaru Sword
  77. *Poison: Deadeye Garuga Fan S
  78. *Blast: Hellblade Sword S
  79. *Raw: Silverwind Shuriken S
  80.
  81. Sleep and Para weapons are ass so I don't recommend using them.
  82.
  83. *To unlock the S Deviant cat weapon, you need to finish a level 9 or level 10 hunt, you don't have to host it.
  84.
  85. ------
  86. ARMOR
  87. Naked.
  88.
  89. Or whatever that has the highest defense if you're not using WS.
  90.
  91. ------
  92. HOW TO FIGHT
  93.
  94. Eat for Felyne Hurler (Dragon Salad), this increase boomerang damage by 10%.
  95.
  96. Bring Charms and Talons.
  97.
  98. Build up your support gauge with whatever combo that deals the most hits. I like using AXA to cover distance.
  99.
  100. Activate Piercing and Big then start throwing charged boomerangs. The boomerangs go surprisingly far so keep your distance.
  101.
  102. Add in the third A hit in melee range for a nice multihit spin that deals a lot of damage.
  103.
  104. Cat can also block.
  105. ------
  106. TL;DR
  107.
  108. 1. Scout/beg for a Fighting cat that has Piercing Boomerangs, Big Boomerangs, Earplugs, Critical up S and Boomerang Pro.
  109. 2. Teach it Emergency Retreat and World's Strongest.
  110. 3. Make one weapon for each element and statuses, except Sleep and Para weapons because those are sub-par.
