- Recently I created a 12.04 live USB. I can't get it to shut down. What happens instead of shut down ubuntu takes me to a new translucent screen that request my password to login as a an added user i.e "johndoe101". Instead of shut down the screen remains the same, as though I didn't press shut down. So, I press suspend instead and it puts the computer into sleep mode! It is then that I remove the USB, and then turn off the machine. Does anyone have any troubleshooting ideas?
