A Dildo is an artificial phallus used for many purposes, however in the Final Fantasy series, its main use is as a secret weapon found in various locations. It is notoriously difficult to find, and can often only be found in certain copies of the games. The Dildo often has among the highest stats in the game when found, though some other secret weapons will sometimes perform better.

===''Final Fantasy''===
The Dildo can be found in the Chaos Shrine of the past, beginning with the Dawn of Soul and 20th anniversary editions. Like the Masamune, it has a critical hit rate of 40, but only the Knight and Red Wizard are able to equip it.

===''Final Fantasy II''===
In the cancelled overseas release of the game, Dark Shadow Over Palakia, the Dildo would have replaced the second Blood Sword found in Pandaemonium. Interesting, it has the exact same stats, minus the ability to drain health.

===''Final Fantasy III''===
The Dildo appears only as [[Dummied Content|dummied content]] in the game; it was apparently not properly coded, as no values are given for its attack or other stats. Curiously, all evidence of its existence was gone in the 3D remakes of the game.

The Dildo is a rare steal from [[Geryon]] in the 3D remakes of the game. Most players will very rarely find this weapon. Unfortunately, the only realistic use for the weapon is against [[Proto-Babil]] or Geryon in a subsequent playthrough.

Like in Final Fantasy III, the Dildo is a dummied weapon. Its stats are identical to [[Excalipoor]].

If [[Shadow]] was not saved in the World of Balance, the Dildo can be acquired from the [[Dragon's Neck Coliseum]] by betting any throwing weapon, however the battle is a rare chance. The player will know that they are competing for the Dildo if the battle is against both [[Ultima Weapon (Final Fantasy VI Boss)|Ultima Weapon]] and [[Siegfried (Boss)|Siegfried]]. Should the player succeed in the battle, they will be awarded with the Dildo. Like both the [[Ragnarok]] and [[Illumina]], 10 MP will be spent for an automatic critical hit, and there is a chance that Forsaken will be cast when the weapon strikes.

The Dildo is a spear that can be used by [[Cid Highwind]]. It is exclusive to the original Japanese release of the game in which there was an alternate room in the [[Honeybee Inn]]. The Dildo was to be given to the player if they were able to successfully complete every cross-dressing objective perfectly, but a glitch prevented players from receiving it.

Within the game's coding found in the PC release, it can be found that the Dildo is an alternate weapon for [[Ward Zabac]]. Early in development, it was decided that the Laguna dreams would have more gameplay throughout the game, and the three party members of the past would also be able to remodel their weapons. Ward's Dildo was to be significantly stronger than his default weapon. It is possible to equip the weapon through hacking, but its appearance will be identical to his default weapon.

It is well known that the player must make it to [[Memoria]] within 12 hours of playing the game in order to obtain the [[Excalibur II]], but the clock counter in Final Fantasy IX has an interesting quirk - if enough time passes, the clock will overflow and reset to 0. This takes approximately 2.9 years. If one has the patience to go through with this and trigger the scene in which they would obtain the Excalibur II and the exact moment the timer becomes 0, they will receive the Dildo. It is a sword for [[Steiner]] and it teaches [[Shock]].

Unlike being a traditional blade weapon, the Dildo is actually a doll of Lulu's. In the PS Vita version of the HD Remaster, the Dildo has a rare chance to be received from [[Gatta]] if [[Luzzu]] dies during Operation Mi'hen. However, the chance that it will be given to the player is approximately 1/65535, so few players can ever hope to attain it.

The Dildo is actually quite a common weapon in the game. Most English speaking players will not know this, however, as the name is censored in translation. Japanese gamers will commonly have several Dildos at once, and they come in the forms of many weapons. Upon the game's release, they were among the best weapons in the game, but they have since become far obsolete.

Found only in the International Zodiac Job System, the Dildo is an invisible weapon that is extremely difficult to find. Uniquely, it cannot be cheated into the game and the RNG cannot be properly manipulated to obtain it. Every chest in the [[Necrohol of Nabudis]] must be opened in a specific order, and some must be opened with the Diamond Armlet, while others must not. However, the order and accessory requirement is different every playthrough, making it nearly impossible to obtain. The very few players who have achieved the gaining of this weapon claim that it has 255 attack along with a 100% chance to activate a combo, making it ideal for battles against enemies such as [[Yiazmat]].

The Dildo Suns would have been an exclusive gun for Sazh for the scrapped DLC that would take the player to the [[Seventh Ark]], and it would be a guaranteed drop from the [[Fal'Cie]] [[Nemesis]]. Due to the early cancellation of the DLC, no information about the Dildo Suns remains aside from some obscure unpublished concept art.

[[Naoki Yoshida]] has been publicly overheard in conversation with [[Motomu Toriyama]] expressing his desire to implement a powerful Dildo weapon into the game in a future expansion pack, after [[Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward]] is released.

Leaked data from the [[Episode Duscae]] demo has revealed one line of data (known as WPN:DLD, though this is not guaranteed) suggesting that there could be a Dildo as one of Noctis' many weapons to use in battle. Nothing beyond this is known.

==Concept and Development==
In mid 1987, during the development of the original Final Fantasy, [[Sakaguchi|Hironobo Sakaguchi]] was contemplating including a Dildo as a weapon in his game due to his insatiable obsession for the real world devices (which are coincidentally often used as weapons, though not as effectively as in the series.) He decided against it, however, as Final Fantasy was meant to be his swan song, and he feared the controversy over its inclusion due to its status as a social taboo would hurt the game's sales.

Seeing the immense success of the first game, when producing its sequel, Final Fantasy II, Sakaguchi forgot his original ambition to add a Dildo into the game. As a last resort, he added it into the overseas English translation of the game. However, his dream was crushed yet again when it was cancelled.

Sakaguchi had finally gotten up the courage to include a Dildo in Final Fantasy III, however he decided that it would be inappropriate for children to wield such a weapon, feeling that they would not have a full understanding of the true meaning of the Dildo, and so the content was dummied. A similar fate befell Final Fantasy V, as Sakaguchi believed it would not fit the lighter environment of the game.

The Dildo did not make its first true appearance until the release of Final Fantasy VI (released as Final Fantasy III in North America.) Many Japanese players were greatly pleased by its inclusion, but there was little to no commentary from American players. Inspired by the overwhelming positive reaction to the Dildo's inclusion, the weapon became a staple of the series, despite often being either very difficult to acquire or made impossible due to limitations or last minute decisions.

The actual word "dildo" found its origin in the 16th century, however its exact origin is unknown.
