  1. So, I needed to work from home this morning because Comcast was sending a technician to wire up a phone line that we neither needed nor wanted.
  2.
  3. "Why were there installing a phone line", you ask?
  4.
  5. Sequence of events:
  6. We had a plan where we pay like $80 or $90 and get all the stuff we get. Life is pretty okay.
  7. While we weren't paying attention, a "special package" we had lapses and the bill goes to around $180. Life is not okay. Nothing is okay.
  8. I get a call from Comcast saying that they can get us more stuff for less money. I reply, "I certainly fucking hope we can pay less than $180. I don't want more stuff, though. Can we get the same stuff for less money?"
  9. She replies, "Ummm, I can't do that. I can get you a bunch more stuff, including a phoneline for $150 off contract. You'll have to talk to the Retention dept to get the same stuff for a lot less money."
  10. I'm like, "whatever, yeah, I want to pay less money now. Let's do that, and I'll call the retention dept. later."
  11.
  12. This brings us to this morning.
  13. Since I was out of the office, I took advantage of this opportunity to call the Retention dept.
  14.
  15. I want to open by saying that, I was really impressed with how polite and friendly the guy was given how much his job must suck, and the fact that he had the devil's flaming penis up his asshole the entire time. With that said, it wasn't a great call. I told him my story, and he said, "Oh, it looks like you're heading the other direction. The package we have you signed up for gets you more stuff, but it actually costs more. Yeah, that'll be over $190."
  16.
  17. I took a moment to let that settle in, and said, "well, I'm glad I'm calling you, because I would have flipped out if I'd seen that." Fast forward 20 minutes of polite haggling, and he explained the best that he could get me without a 2 year contract would be $150 for the same stuff we used to pay $80 or $90 for.
  18.
  19. I politely explained to him that I will be searching for a better deal with other services, and I'm positive that I will find one. I'll be calling back to cancel when that happens.
  20.
  21. He said to call back then because "our deals change week to week, so we may be able to get you that better deal then.
  22.
  23. Fuck Comcast.
