  26. --- The Chamber of Suffering ----- 1:-6:2 ---
  27. Everything about you is obscured by a heavy fog. A viscous fog of heady smoke fills this chamber,
  28. rising from a score of censers and flickering candles placed close to the ground. There, veins of
  29. cobalt blue run like thin rivers across bone-hued marble pavers, the chill of which can be felt even
  30. through thick-soled boots. Tall, half-round columns line the walls; between them hang layers of
  31. luxurious blue silk that drape and fold as they meet the ground. All through the chamber hums a
  32. pervasive drone, like the beating of a thousand tiny wings in constant motion. A shimmering orb lies
  33. here, illuminating the surrounding area with a slight glow. Vicar Aegoth I'llur, Phantom Hand is
  34. here. He wields an elemental staff in his left hand and a Shield of Absorption in his right.
  35. You see a single exit leading west.
  36.
  37. Vicar Aegoth I'llur, Phantom Hand says, "Kneel, Caoimhaen."
  38.
  39. You have acted: Caoimhaen takes a deep and shallow breath as he kneels before you.
  40.
  41. Aegoth approaches the dais within the chamber, taking from it a chalice that bubbles, a sibilant
  42. hiss emanating from it while a sickly odor wafts along the air.
  43.
  44.
  45. Vicar Aegoth I'llur, Phantom Hand chants, "Oh Lord of Malevolence, Master of Evil, a wayward childe
  46. returns to Thee."
  47.
  48. Vicar Aegoth I'llur, Phantom Hand chants, "Cleanse his soul of impurity. Let him see the Truth of
  49. Evil... guide him under Your cruel hand, oh Sartan."
  50.
  51. Aegoth grins softly as his crimson eyes gleam with a deep malice, approaching you and holding the
  52. bubbling chalice aloft.
  53.
  54. You have emoted: Caoimhaen's face pales slightly as he looks from you to the chalice.
  55.
  56. Vicar Aegoth I'llur, Phantom Hand says, "This soul, Lord, yearns to be free! It cries to be known...
  57. to live and to serve."
  58.
  59. You whisper in a quiet, confident voice, "I cant do this.."
  60.
  61. Aegoth lowers the chalice, diping his fingers in as the liquid sizzles loudly, shrieking within the
  62. chamber reminiscent for wailing souls.
  63.
  64. Vicar Aegoth I'llur, Phantom Hand chants, "Let his soul know Truth, Lord... let him endure... LET
  65. HIS EYES BE OPEN."
  66.
  67. You shudder violently as a chill ripples down your spine.
  68.
  69. Aegoth reaches forward, a thick, acidic smoke rising from his fingertips as he begins marking your
  70. forehead with the scorching hot solution. Pain, like none you have ever felt rips down through your
  71. spine while unholy visions of daemons, bloodshed and destruction flash before your eyes.
  72.
  73. Throwing back your head, you scream agonisingly.
  74.
  75. Vicar Aegoth I'llur, Phantom Hand chants, "EE THE TRUTH! BE FREE AND EMBRACE THE EVIL IN YOUR SOUL! BE ONE WITH EVIL AND RETURN TO HIM, OH CHILDE OF SARTAN!"
  76.
  77. You begin to writhe helplessly, throwing your body off balance.
  78.
  79. Aegoth grips your chin, forcing your jaw open and tilting the chalice upward, pouring the thick,
  80. black liquid down your throat, shoving it past your tongue and allowing you to choke upon it.
  81. Searing heat floods your entire being, ripping you apart from within, unbearable and surreal.
  82.
  83. Vicar Aegoth I'llur, Phantom Hand chants, "Be cleansed, oh Childe of Sartan!"
  84.
  85. You have emoted: Caoimhaen eye seemed to be glazed over as his body is rigid with agony. He coughs
  86. and sputters on the liquid.
  87.
  88. Throwing back your head, you scream agonisingly.
  89.
  90. You say in a quiet, confident voice, "NO!"
  91.
  92. Aegoth steps back as he simply watches, a feral grin upon his features.
  93.
  94. Tears fill your eyes and begin to slowly run down your face.
  95.
  96. Vicar Aegoth I'llur, Phantom Hand says, "The truth is laid before you. Now you alone must make the
  97. choice. To run.. to accept."
  98.
  99. You have emoted: Caoimhaen falls in a heap upon the cold floor as he is completely rigid. His
  100. breathing comes in ragged gasps.
  101.
  102. Vicar Aegoth I'llur, Phantom Hand says, "DO YOU ACCEPT TRUTH!? OR SHALL THE LIE ENSLAVE YOU ETERNALLY!?"
  103.
  104. You exclaim in a quiet, confident voice, "MAKE IT STOP!! PLEASE!"
  105.
  106. Vicar Aegoth I'llur, Phantom Hand says, "MAKE YOUR CHOICE."
  107.
  108. You exclaim in a quiet, confident voice, "N-NO!"
  109.
  110. Vicar Aegoth I'llur, Phantom Hand says, "There is NO other way."
  111.
  112. A lump forms in your throat as emotion overwhelms you; a single tear runs down your cheek.
  113.
  114. You whisper in a quiet, confident voice, "I cant do this..."
  115.
  116. Dominatus Cahin Nithilar has broken Mizik's spine with a backbreaker, slaying him.
  117.
  118. Vicar Aegoth I'llur, Phantom Hand says, "And that is the very first lie you must cast away."
  119.
  120. You fall to the ground and convulse wildly.
  121.
  122. Vicar Aegoth I'llur, Phantom Hand says, "Caoimhaen, Childe of Sartan, do you accept the Truth?"
  123.
  124. You begin to weep uncontrollably.
  125.
  126. You whisper in a quiet, confident voice, "No...I am not Evil...I cant be who you want me to be.."
  127.
  128. Vicar Aegoth I'llur, Phantom Hand says, "It is not who I want you to be... it is who your soul longs
  129. to be, more than anything else."
  130.
  131.
  132. You have emoted: Caoimhaen body tenses completely. All sign of agony leave his face as a strange sly
  133. smile forms upon his lips.
  134.
  135. You say to Aegoth in a cold voice, "I'm coming back to him."
  136.
  137. You say in a cold voice, "Foehn was too slow to protect him."
  138.
  139. You say in a cold voice, "I have little control yet."
  140.
  141. You say in a cold voice, "But he will be the Lord's."
  142.
  143. You say in a cold voice, "Mark my words."
  144.
  145. Vicar Aegoth I'llur, Phantom Hand says, "Yes, yes he will."
  146.
  147. Vicar Aegoth I'llur, Phantom Hand says, "Submit yourself, Caoimhaen."
  148.
  149. You fall to the ground and convulse wildly.
  150.
  151. Vicar Aegoth I'llur, Phantom Hand says, "Serve as sacrifice to the Lord."
  152.
  153. You say in a quiet, confident voice, "NO!"
  154.
  155. You shudder violently as a chill ripples down your spine.
  156.
  157. Aegoth cackles as he points a finger your way, his eyes glaring as something takes hold of you. Th
  158. imbibed liquid courses through your veins, locking your muscles and forces your to the ground.
  159.
  160. Throwing back your head, you scream agonisingly.
  161.
  162. Vicar Aegoth I'llur, Phantom Hand says, "The Lord shall have you. YOU HAVE SEEN THE TRUTH AND HAVE ACCEPTED."
  163.
  164. Aegoth ceases to wield a Shield of Absorption in his right hand.
  165. Aegoth begins to wield a dwarven battleaxe in his right hand.
  166.
  167. Vicar Aegoth I'llur, Phantom Hand says, "Know that e'ere your head shall be displayed, that you
  168. shall ever look upon it as you pass this world and know that you are His."
  169.
  170. Aegoth raises his battleaxe over his head and begins to swing it in a wide circle, gaining speed as
  171. he goes.
  172.
  173. Aegoth begins to bear down on you with his whirling battleaxe.
  174.
  175. You have emoted: Caoimhaen attempts to move.
  176.
  177. A roar of triumph bursts from Aegoth and with horrified realization, you watch as he brings his
  178. whirling battleaxe towards your neck, severing your head from your body. The last thing you see
  179. before death is your own crumpling body, neck spitting blood like a fountain.
  180. You have been slain by Aegoth.
  181.
  182. Aegoth picks up a headless corpse.
  183. Aegoth picks up the decapitated head of Caoimhaen.
  184. You say in a quiet, confident voice, "No."
  185. Vicar Aegoth I'llur, Phantom Hand says, "Now Pray to the Lord."
  186. Aegoth tells you," And so you shall be His once more."
  187. You tellAegoth," No.."
  188. Aegoth tells you, "Your head at North of Thera shall serve as a reminder of that."
  189. You tell Aegoth, "I am not His... I cant be."
  190. Aegoth tells you, "You are. Now and unto eternity."
  191. You tell Aegoth, "No...
  192. You tell Aegoth, "I am not His. I wont ever be His.
  193. You tell Aegoth, "I am myself.
  194. Aegoth tells You, "It has already been decided."
  195. You tell Aegoth, "No.."
  196. You tell Aegoth, "That was my demon.."
  197. You tell Aegoth "He does not decide for me.that bastard."
  198. Aegoth tells You, "More lies. You shall be His. I shall await your return."
  199. You tell Aegoth "No please.."
