  7. ====================== Tournament Rules ========================
  8.
  9. The first stage of the tournament is a round robin format. Players will be divided into groups of 5, with perhaps some groups of 4 depending on total participants. Every player will do a race against every other player in that group. The top 2 players from each group (based on # of races won) will advance to the 2nd stage of the tournament. Ties will be broken using the race between the two players who are tied. If a multi-way tie exists and cannot be broken using this method, the tie will be broken using the best median race time. In computing a player's median race time, forfeited runs will be counted as 3 hours.
  10.
  11. The second stage of the tournament is a single elimination bracket of all the players who advanced from the first stage (2 per group). All the #1 players will be seeded first (according to median race time), followed by all the #2 players. The semi-finals and finals matches will be scheduled for a single date (a Saturday or Sunday, to be determined).
  12.
  13. Seeding into the groups will be done according to PB (personal best), such that each group contains an equal mixture of high, low, and mid-range PBs. PB times for each player will be taken from the deertier.com Any% leaderboards. Seeding is determined on the day of the signup cutoff (April 16th), so submit your PB before then. Runners with no PB time will be randomized and placed at the bottom of the seeding.
  14.
  15. The category for this tournament is Any% (No Major Glitches). You must use the North American/Japanese (JU) version of the game (but not PAL). Glitches, such as but not limited to, SpaceTime beam, X-Ray Climbing, Out of Bounds, and Greyout Glitch (R-Mode) are not allowed. All files should start at 0:00 with the intro sequence completed, so play begins at Ceres station.
  16.
  17. Players may use cartridge, flashcart, or emulator. ZSNES and Snes9x 1.43 are banned.
  18.
  19. Players will use SpeedRunsLive to time and record their race. The time listed on SRL is the official time for the match. Players are allowed to forfeit, but if a player forfeits a match, that match will be counted as 3 hours long when computing the player's median race time. All players are required to stream and to follow all SRL rules.
  20.
  21. Matches will be streamed to twitch.tv/speedgaming along with commentary. A schedule of upcoming matches will be posted here once the tournament begins.
  22.
  23. =================== Match Sceduling Procedure ====================
  24.
  25. IF YOU HAVE ANY SCHEDULING ISSUES, PLEASE LET AN ORGANIZER KNOW AND WE WILL ACCOMMODATE.
  26.
  27. When tournament groups are officially announced, all players will be placed into a channel for their respective group, where they can communicate among themselves to communicate and scheduling their matches. When scheduling a match with an opponent, please work out a time that works best for you. When both of you have agreed upon a time, please use the match scheduling form (http://goo.gl/forms/LKjqaB35eQ) to submit your scheduled time, and it will automatically show up on the spreadsheet.
  28.
  29. Note: If your scheduled match overlaps with another existing match, you may be asked if you can adjust to either start as the same time as that already scheduled match or start either after or before the match.
  30.
  31. ----------------- Group Stage - Match Scheduling -----------------
  32.
  33. When groups are announced, you will see a match schedule for your group. Matches will be assigned to specific weeks. You may play matches early, but you may not play them late. A match for a specific week must be played before the end of that week.
  34.
  35. As an example, let's say Mother Brain, Ridley, Draygon, Phantoon, and Kraid are in a group together in order of seed. Their scheduled matches would appear as
  36.
  37. Week 1: April 23 - April 29
  38. Ridley vs Kraid
  39. Draygon vs Phantoon
  40. Week 2: April 30 - May 6
  41. Kraid vs M. Brain
  42. Draygon vs Ridley
  43. Week 3: May 7 - May 13
  44. M. Brain vs Phantoon
  45. Kraid vs Draygon
  46. Week 4: May 14 - May 20
  47. Draygon vs M. Brain
  48. Ridley vs Phantoon
  49. Week 5: May 21 - May 27
  50. M. Brain vs Ridley
  51. Phantoon vs Kraid
  52.
  53. The schedule says that Ridley/Kraid and Draygon/Phantoon have to do their week 1 match by the end of April 29. If Ridley, however, wants to get all his matches done early, and convinces the others to do their matches with him all in Week 1, despite them being in later weeks. This is acceptable. However, once a week's match passes, that match must be completed. This means all Week 1 matches MUST be complete by the end of April 29, all Week 2 matches by the end of May 6, and so forth.
  54.
  55. ------------- Single Elimination - Match Scheduling --------------
  56.
  57. Single Elimination matches will have one match to complete in each of following stages:
  58. - Last 32 (two weeks, May 28 - June 10)
  59. - Last 16 (one week, June 11 - June 17)
  60. - Quarter Finals (one week, June 18 - June 24)
  61. - Semi Finals (June 25)
  62. - Grand Finals (June 25)
  63.
  64. Matches work in the same way that you can play them as early as you're able, but matches must be complete by the end of week they're allotted for.
  65.
  66. ================ Match Re-Streaming / Commentary =================
  67.
  68. All matches will be restreamed to twitch.tv/speedgaming. No special streaming requirements are needed for the players, they simply just stream to their stream page as required. The only requirement is to display a timer on stream.
  69.
  70. If you like to commentate for matches, please let an Organizer know and we can add you to the commentary channel where you can signup to commentate for scheduled matches. This is a great opportunity to commentate for matches if you've never done much commentary before. There will be a place on the scheduled match page to show who is already signed up for match commentary. When signing up for match commentary, please use the @everyone nick flash or simply nick flash any/all the organizers to inform them which match you wish to commentate for.
  71.
  72. Commentary will take place in the "On Air - Live Race" Discord voice channel. For a race, the commentators, the restream account, and any of the players actually racing (it is at the choice of each individual racer if they want to be in that channel or not to listen to commentary) will be in the channel.
  73.
  74.
  75.
  76. If you have any further questions, please ask an organizer in the lobby and this pastebin will be updated accordingly.
