- Garchomp is a Dragon- and Ground-type Pokémon that was introduced in Diamond and Pearl. It's been an outstanding Pokémon since its introduction, and in fact it was so good that it was banned to the Ubers tier by Smogon in Gen 4. It stayed in Ubers briefly in Gen 5 (BW/BW2) as well. However, with the addition of the new Fairy-type in XY, it lost a bit of popularity and viability, and as a result Garchomp returned to the OverUsed tier (OU). Why was it such a dominant force for so long? And why is it still a solid fighter, despite the introduction of Fairies? Let’s check it out!
