1. Diona
2.
3. Overview
4.
5. Diona (Dye-on-ah, Dionaea (Dye-on-ā) in plural form however) are an ancient, mysterious race of organisms that physically appear to be that of a tree. Their origins are unkown, but were first discovered on a planet they refer to as "The Root". Originating from a single tree, the Dionaea originally stood on average 350ft (106.68m) , weighing in at about 4,000,000 pounds (2000 tons). After centuries of expiermentation to their seeds, the Dionaea currently stand anywhere from 8ft(2.4m) all the way to 13ft(3.9m). Their current average weight being 2,200 pounds(1.1 ton), and are noticably more docile and free thinking. As of October 5th, 2399, the Dionaea are recognized as sentient beings, and allowed them to officially become citizens, and are recognized as such by many Trans-stellar corporations.

7. Mechanics
8. The Dionaea, following suit of other species, have a list of advantages and disadvantages.
9.
10. - Dionaea have their own language consiting of the emission of radio and heat waves, referred to as Rootsong. Use :q to access it.
11. - Dionaea use nutrition to heal any brute or toxin damage.
12. - Dionaea are Radiotrophic, using radiation to fill their nutrition, without any harmful effects.
13. - Dionaea nutrition bars are also filled when in proximity to light.
14. - Being in complete darkness causes damage and eventually death.
15. - Dionaea are resistant to cold, but are extremely vulnerable to fire damage.
16. - Dionaea can be put into crit with plant-b-gone.
17. -Observers may set a preference to join in as a Diona Nymph if one is created in Hydroponics.
18. - This does not require any whitelisting at this time.
19. Things you should know
20.
21. - The Dionaea do not have names like other species. They refer to themselves by a memory or expierence which was vital to their upbringing. It is often something descriptive and poetic. Ie "The Sound Of A Single White Snowflake Gently Falling On The Snout Of A Honey Auburn Saint Bernard While Human Children Dance In The Distance To The Musical Stylings Of The Late Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart" However, it is often shortened down on their ID's.
22.
23. - The Dionaea do not feel pain. It is more of a discomfort.
24.
25. - The Dionaea are generally a curious and intellegent species, often surpassing humans in knowledge. They're capable of fufilling any role on the station. (They may Research Director, Chief Medical Officer and Cheif Engineer, however they are restricted from assuming the position of Captain, Head of Security as well as Head of Personnel.)

27. History
28.
29. In the year 2148, Skrellian explorers aboard an exploration shutle, the 211 Reuiso, led by Captain Weriu-Tup, ventured into a system known to humans as Epsilon Ursae Minoris. Unexplored for hundreds of years, the Skrellian explorers were suprised to find an earth sized planet with a tree half the size of the planet, visibile from space. After circling the planet a number of times, sending down an atmospheric testing drone, and aquiring permission from their dispatcher, the explorers landed on the planet. The explorers had ventured deep into the heavy parts of the forest, making their way to the prodominatley large tree ahead of them. There were skeletons of a species unkown to them littered on the floor of the forest. Along the way, they had begun to notice the trees swayed gently. Not just the leaves, but the entirety of the tree. Before anyone was able to say anything, the giant trees were upon them.
30.
31. The tree's had collapsed upon them, revealing face and limbs. Captain Weriu-Tup had pushed some crew members of his out of the way, ending up underneath one of the falling tree's, giving his life to save his crew. Before they had any time to process what had happened to them, more tree's began falling, killing the crew members who had just escaped death almost immediately. The tree's brought the what was left of bodies to the base of the tree they refer to as The Jekan Tree, where they would then take what was left of the bodies to the breeders. They skrell carcasses were placed into holes in the ground, then a Seed was taken from The Jekan Tree, and placed in the mess of the body. Over the course of an hour, a noticably smaller version of the Diona had sprouted. The smaller versions was able to think for themselves, and had retained the knowledge of the skrell from which they had sprouted.
32.
33. The Following Years
34.
35. For the next 50 years, armed with the knowledge and left over space shuttle from the Skrell explorers, the Diona reigned terror over the Epsilon Ursae Minrois solar system. Six different planets and four species were caught in the way path of these blood-thirsty Dionaea. They had gathered the bodies of the fallen from the planets they destroyed, bringing them back to The Jak. They would then use the bodies to breed their numbers even higher. The smarter Dionaea led their gigantic brothers and sisters across the galaxy, heavily increasing their numbers, slaughtering billions in the process.
36.
37. Around this era is when the Dionaea began to phsysically evolve, breaking into three different strands. The first and most common were the warrior variation. They stood the tallest, and were cased in a hard bark. These Dionaea were able to produce pheromones to communicate at great distances, They were able to extend vines from their groin area and use them to grab objects and store them inside a cavity in their body. The hardened material protecting them was also more susceptible of absorbing sunlight, and were primarily energized by different rays of light. They were the most phsyically sound of all the breeds, each able to withstand an entire armoury's worth of bullets before requiring any radiation or light to heal the wounds.
38.
39. The second most prominent variation is the carrier variant. This type has never be known to leave The Jekan Tree. Not too much is known about them, but surveillance drones have been able to pick up miniscules amounts of those that remain. This version had appeared to be made up of a collection of smaller organisms, constantly moving around. This breed is able to take seeds from The Jekan Tree, store them for months at a time and plant them in carcasses to grow their numbers. Their size is notably random, not having an average height nor weight, is usually determined by which species from whence their seed was planted in.
40.
41. The third type has only been spotted on a handful of occasions. It appeared to be a quadraped, where all the micro-organisms appeared to be solidified together. It mostly lives under the surface of the planet, gaining it's energy primarily from the radioactive materials on the interior of the planet. The duty of this breed appears to be to supply the other Dionaea with generous amounts of radiation, so they may survive in places in which they aren't able to gain energy from any light source.
42.
43. In the year 2200, Jargon reconnaissance ships had finally returned to the Epsilon Ursae Minoris system, and were bombarded with a plethera of cries for help. The Jargon Federation military was almost immediately mobilized. Hundreds of Skrell ships headed towards the distressed planets. With minimal knowledge, the small yet mighty Skrellian army headed towards an unkown galaxy, armed with whatever weapons they could carry. A war lasting four months followed, with many casualties coming from both sides.
44.
45. Two weeks before the end of the war, a skrellian fighter jet had been taken out of the sky on one of the Dionaea occupied planets. A Dionaea had fallen from orbit and taken the combat jet with it. Three of the four crew members aboard were killed immediately on impact. The surviving, but injured, crew member scurried into a nearby building, seeking shelter. The hulking Diona had caught a glance of the Skrell and began to tear apart the building inside the building in search of the Skrell. Easily smashing through the top two floors, the Diona had peeled back the second level's floor, revealing an inured, scared soldier. In an act of desperation, the Skrell began throwing objects in it's immediate area at the Dionaea. Just seconds before the giant appendage was going to grasp the soldier, he had thrown a pesticide at the monstrocity. The Skrellian soldier waited for death, but all that ensued was a blood curdling cry. He had looked up and noticed the arm of the Diona slowly melting away.
46.
47. The soldier was rescued after a two day mission, returning home with his life, wounds, and the knowledge on how to end the war. All the meanwhile, Skrellian scientists were researching with Diona seeds that had been scavanged from dead Dionaea. They had been testing on how the Diona works and how the seeds work. They had planted them in regular soil, synthetic soil, but the tests proved uneventful. The skrellian scientists had eventually used the gel they emit from their tendrils, and a small little Diona Nymph had come out of the dirt. Small and docile.
